If you have not been to Sizzling House, you need to try it. No matter what your protein choice, you won't go wong with tender and flavorful meat. You also have the option of udon noodles or rice. We were a party if 5 and it was a team effort by the service staff. Nathan started off by taking our order and others, including the cat robot, brought out the dishes. They were piping hot and the waiters volunteered to mix up the dishes for those who were fearful of the hot plates or making sure the meat was cooked properly. While we were the last ones in the restaurant, the owner was patient and made sure we were well attended. I ordered the Angus beef with udon noodles and added mushrooms. Tried Sizzling House for the first time today. Walking in, the restaurant had some nice decor and when it came to ordering, everything was online through a website which was convenient. You also don't have a waiter, you just have the staff come drop off the food you ordered online at your table. We ordered their wagyu beef sizzling plate and also their wagyu beef ramen. When they dropped off the sizzling plate, they went ahead and mixed it for us too which was cool. The sizzling plate was good but like the other reviews said it was a little bland and didn't have a whole lot of flavor. It also felt like it was a bit oily as well. The ramen was ok as well. The broth tasted really good but then the beef and noodles had a little bit of a weird after taste to it for me. Staff were great as well. This place is so delicious and their robot kitty is pretty sweet. Their service is pretty good and the vibe there is super laid back. I love how flavorful all their food is. The black garlic ramen is so savory, the egg is boiled perfectly, every bite is packed with flavor. The Miso Ramen is also a great vegetarian option. The spice level is pretty mild even at medium spice. Their ramen noodles are easily the best I've had in the valley. Their sizzling beef udon noodles are sooo addicting. The udon noodles are perfection, I can't stop thinking about them. The house sauce is delicious but I love the pepper sauce. I like getting the udon extra spicy, it's packed with flavor and just a little heat. I want to try their sizzling rice some time but I keep coming back for the udon noodles. Starting 2024 with Sizzling House, which has been saved on my bookmarks list! We came on a Tuesday night and the restaurant had a few couples/families dining in but it wasn't busy. Open seating. We were given the option to either order through the QR or with the waiter (although the preference seemed to be through the QR). Our ramen was brought by the roomba-esque robot which played a cute little jingle (which became annoying whilst dining in). Not sure what role the robot plays as the waiter still serves it (maybe just the gimmick?). The black garlic tonkotsu and fried dumplings were average in terms of taste/value. I've been wanting to try this place since they opened and finally last night we gave it a go! Mekong market always has great selections so we were eager. The inside is small but cute and for a Wednesday evening they seemed busy. We decided to start with the takoyaki and friend dumpling! The takoyaki are presented beautifully and a generous serving of 6, same for the dumpling. Having only tried takoyaki one other time, I am not aficionado. It is essentially a dough ball with octopus inside and then fried and topped with bonito flakes, seaweed, and sauces. The thing I enjoyed most was the texture. The dough was so soft and almost fun to eat honestly. Flavor wise though, it was pretty dull. I had the same reaction for the dumpling. I have had far superior dumplings but I will commend the crispy bottom on these, it added a lot of flavor. The dumplings were fine, I would describe them as basic. The filling could probably have used more aromatics, especially ginger and green onion IMO. Finally, the ramen. I hate to admit but I was a little disappointed. After being recommended the black garlic tonkotsu ramen by the server, I found it unappealing. It's tasted mostly of something reminiscent of burnt garlic chips and the broth really had no depth of flavor. I was loaded with goodies, which I loved, and I appreciated that you can choose your spice level. The pork was actually pretty good. The miso ramen, however, was delicious. This broth really shined and had more depth than the other. The tofu in this was not good. I believe it was steamed but it just didn't go well. Maybe fried tofu would be better. The topping in each bowl, minus the tofu, were essentially the same. I would probably get the miso ramen and add the pork if I go back. All in all, we spent 55$ before tip. So the price wasn't terrible but the food seemed lack luster to me. It is worth mentioning that the food took quite a long time to come out. Wow I'm not sure how long this place has been open for but we made it in for lunch yesterday and we were blown away. Quickly upon arrival the hostess / server greeted us and he let us know about the 10 minute wait. We told him we were ok with waiting and I proceeded with getting us checked in. We stood outside in the Mekong plaza area and people watched while we waited. It took about 20 minutes for them to txt me that our table was ready. We sat down and he gave us the run down on how everything worked. We were told to scan the QR code that was provided and that we could order through there. We ordered: One shishito peppers One fried dumplings (6x) One miso ramen One beef udon hot plate One chicken with rice hot plate The peppers came out right away and they were delicious. I had never had shishito peppers and I can say I'm a big fan now - don't let the pepper name steer you away because they were not spicy at all. The dumplings were another hit as they were very flavorful, juicy, and were stuffed. I ordered the chicken with rice hot plate and the flavor was all there. I added a little bit of soy sauce and some chili powder on top and bam it made it 10000x better. The only thing I disliked about it was that the chicken was dark meat and not white. I found a few rubbery pieces that made me gag and I could no longer eat it. i wish they had used chicken breast instead... My sister had the beef udon plate and it was delicious. The meat was soft and flavorful. I think next time I will pass on the chicken and get beef instead. My mom had the miso ramen and she enjoyed it. It was very flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Service was great and we had two different servers and they were both friendly and attentive. If you have ever been to pepper lunch, this restaurant has a very similar vibe! Our group did not try the ramen, but we did try their signature sizzling plates. We started off with the chicken karaage appetizer and it was ok. The flavor was good but the batter seemed to be with the wrong kind of flour. It did not have that light, airy, crispness that karaage is known to have. Rather it was thick and dense which made you feel like you were eating more of a popcorn chicken. There are 2 main flavors you can choose: house sauce or curry. The house sauce is an actual sauce (as the name implies, duh) but the curry is a dry seasoning that is mixed in. I felt it was worth noting in case any of y'all are expecting a typical creamy curry sauce. The curry was good, but I was surprised I enjoyed my girlfriends house sauce much more. I typically gravitate toward curry dishes but the house sauce had more depth of flavor and was quite tasty. In regards to the rest of the food, it was nothing special but tasted great. Your food comes out on a sizzling plate and you toss everything together kinda like an instant fried rice. I misunderstood the menu and ended up adding a bunch of things that were already included in the base order haha that being said, it did not seem as though my add-on ingredients were significantly greater than anyone else's. Sizzling House already smells delicious the moment you walk through the doors, and the sizzling sounds and robot servers make it a pretty fun experience. The food is good, but doesn't particularly stand out. I ordered the sizzling udon with Angus beef and curry sauce, which came out quickly after we submitted our order. I was a little confused that there were also two flavor options for the udon -- pepper or house sauce -- but was pleasantly surprised that the pepper udon with curry sauce worked well together! The meal isn't bad by any means, but it kind of just tastes like Mongolian barbecue with less customization. I can't see myself ever craving this, but wouldn't mind going back if a friend wanted to. There were definitely a few kinks in our experience. First, we didn't get the free miso soup that was part of our order (it looked like no other table did either). Second, the kimchi and tofu option wasn't available despite being on their menu, so the only option for any vegetarian friends might be the vegetable miso ramen or a protein-free plate. All of a sudden, I got so hungry while shopping at the Mekong supermarket, and wanted to get some quick bites before heading back home to cook some stuff. When we arrived we were welcomed with some smiling faces. The restaurant and many other restaurants were empty at that time of the day, but while we were leaving they got some tables. We ordered shishito peppers, takoyaki, and shrimp tempura. Peppers came so quickly followed by the shrimp tempura, and then takoyaki. I kinda wish they would come at the same time, but not a biggie. The shishito peppers were so yummy, not spicy, less to almost no seeds, and very enjoyable. The takoyaki was also good. It came in six pieces. Not like some of the restaurants, they actually used big pieces of octopus to make it. I highly recommend those two items from the appetizer. The tempura shrimp was alright. Shrimps were also six pieces. I liked it more when they arrived, once they got cold it was so-so. At least it is not for my liking. The portions and the price balance were on point. Newly added restaurant in the Mekong Plaza woohoo! It is always exciting to see a new restaurant in this popular local supermarket and I was very excited to see a Sizzling House. You get seated and order from the QR code at the table. You can customize the food to how you like and can order drinks as well. The food will be delivered by a worker or their robot cat waiter dependent on the item. I opted for the Angus Beef Sizzling Plate with rice and mushrooms added. The food comes out super hot on the hot metal plate and cooks right in front of you. Note that you can technically eat this rare or medium rare. Of course, if you want it cooked thoroughly then just leave it on the plate longer. The house sauce was pretty tasty and the meat was good quality. It was a great portion size and pretty fulfilling. Corn and edamame were a nice touch. One downside I hope they fix is that I wish they stated it included red onions in the food description. I personally don't eat onions and put "No green onions", however, I found they also have red onions that I had to pick out. We also got a plate with udon noodles and they were cooked very well and had a great bounce and texture. Note that you can also get a free miso soup with the sizzling plate! Hot miso ramen - Hot spicy level was just okay, had a little kick to it. I don't usually mention this, but my favorite part about this bowl was the corn. I can appreciate fresh corn kernels instead of canned, which is typically much cheaper and easier for businesses. Topping to noodle ratio was also quite good - every bite either came with green onion, corn, bean sprout, black fungus, etc. Just a good bowl of ramen. Tonkotsu ramen, medium spice - hardly spicy at all, so perfect if your tolerance is low. Broth is rich, but not enough to be heavy. Soft boiled egg was done gorgeously and marinated well.
