Awful!!!! If I could give zero stars, I would. This place served up the most disappointing ramen I've ever had -- the broth tasted like instant noodles gone wrong, the "meat" (we ordered chicken) was a total mystery (and not in a fun way), and everything from the noodles was just... subpar. Save yourself the trouble (and your stomach) -- ordering from another restaurant. There are plenty of better ramen spots out there.

I love the anime theme of this restaurant. The walls have very cute decor and this is a great location, as it's next to 99 Ranch, Somi Somi, and 85 Degrees Bakery. The facility is very clean and staff are very nice. However, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and could not fall in love with the noodles. The noodles are reminiscent of the cup ramen noodles in my opinion - if they changed the consistency of the noodles, I think I would like this place a lot more. The broth is decent, but nothing spectacular in my opinion. The best part was the egg, which was at least included in the ramen. For the price, not sure if the ramen is completely worth it but worth a try if you're craving ramen.

They definitely need to work on their menu. You have to order through a screen and when you look at the Chef specials, you can't see the ingredient, just the name of the specials. I had to wait for an employee to become available to ask. I ordered a Vegetarian Ramen and the Tofu had a very strong fishy smell to it. Their to-go boxes are very flimsy (the lid barely tightens) If you're a large group of people this place might be good, they have a lot of space. You want Ramen? Go to Tampopo ramen in Tempe. They have never disappointed.

Finally came in because it looked slow. At 6:15 p.m.!There's a self order kiosk, two actually. It's simple to operate. Ramen bowls are tasty and hefty portions, you could share these entrees. My BYOB was ordered with Teriyaki chicken and the pieces ranged in size from bite size to pieces that would require several bites. It was nest to concoct my own creation and I sorta ended up with a Japanese-Mexican fusion with the combo of spicy miso, Jalapeño, cilantro, corn. Fountain Soda are Coke products and there are free refills. They do offer other drink options, but no beer, wine and such. The restaurant is roomy with plenty of seating including single seating options against the wall. Fun and creative artwork on wall. In the mood for soup, give this place a try. From plain to spicy, the options are YUMMY.

The food was good. The service prompt. And the ambience was clean and decorative. I'll definitely come back again.

My Wife and I wanted to try a ramen place me for the first time, and her because the last one she tried wasn't good. I searched Yelp and found this one. Upon visiting, it wasn't what I thought in that there isn't someone taking your order, instead you do it yourself at the kiosk, which was fast and simple. The cook was helpful in explaining what some of the ingredients we weren't sure of, were. It didn't take long for the order to arrive after placing it I was surprised by the amount they gave you, I took some home. The food was delicious, especially the broth. I could slurp the broth all day. We went on a Saturday around 7p and were the only guests there. For two BYOB and drinks we paid $40. Well be going back.

Fast service ramen. Nothing special. The kitchen sends items out straight from the fridge such as my added egg. Still very ice cold. The sauce that came with the gyoza was also ice cold.

Cute art inside! I was like OH LEGEND OF ZELDA my kid was like "Dad it's Robin Hood...like the name of the restaurant!" Duh.

We picked Ramen Hood randomly, we wanted ramen, what's nearby? Ok let's do it! First off SUPER CLEAN RESTAURANT, like hospital sanitary. The staff is ON IT if you are done with a dish, it's gone! Ordering is a little odd, the kiosk is easy to navigate, very easy to modify your order and add whatever toppings you want. Can't believe an EGG is a premium topping as that's fairly standard for ramen but whatever. The portions are LARGE come hungry this is a big honking bowl of ramen! It's well seasoned, and the proteins are not skimped on! Price is a little high for ramen in my opinion but in this economy it's not unexpected. Overall and really great place to come we will be back!!

Service was very friendly. We were expecting menu boards to be up but they just had 2 kiosks where you choose your items and bring your receipt and pay. I customized mine, bc I like my ramen like I like my life: spicy I had the spicy miso base soup with regular noodles, pork, Naruto, seaweed, seasoned soft egg, bean sprouts, green onions, seasoned bamboo shoots, chili oil, cilantro & togarashi. It wasn't too spicy but had a decent kick. The broth was decently flavored, not too salty, with a little depth. If you get the soft egg in it, you might want to let it sit in there for a few extra minutes to warm through. My mini had the noodles, pork and regular pork soup base. I didn't think it looked that good but she was delighted in it. She's more of a "no extras" when it comes to ramen. Sometimes she's a little basic like me. They take money off the base price if you don't add toppings or proteins. Of course, you can always add more items. They have pretty standard music, it's not too loud. Currently there are 2 appetizers, gyoza and edamame. We didn't try them bc I was certain we were not going to finish our ramen. I was correct. It's like fast food but with ramen, and the mini loved it, so we'll probably be back when we are in the area.

Very cool concept. Order at a kiosk, pay with an employee, pick a table, and they bring you your food. The ordering kiosk is cool - you customize your own bowl. $14 for a bowl includes meat and many toppings. +$2 for an egg. The egg was worth it. Gyoza appetizer was cooked perfectly. Very filling, a decent amount of noodles and meat. Eating area clean. 4 stars instead of 5 because the broth was just a tiny bit saltier than I prefer. But my family and I will definitely return.

I had been wanting to visit this place for a while. Once you walk in to the restaurant, you walk up to a couple of tablets where you place your order and then walk over to the register to pay. I don't really see the point of it since you still have to pay at a separate register. They have a build your own option where you can add the noodles, broth and toppings of your choice. I felt like it was a little overpriced for what you get. We did get our food fairly quickly. They also have the very traditional single stalls if you want to eat on your own, they have a section off to the side for that. Overall, I probably wouldn't make the drive to visit again.

Looking at the menu for some reason I had a feeling ramen was not going to fill me up so I decided to order appetizer. Ordered Geso Yaki (fried squid legs) and gal recommended Tantan ramen if I I like spicy. Geso Yaki came and looked pretty good with some side sweet dipping sauce. It's not really just squid legs had other parts of squid which I didn't mind. It tasted pretty good with slight crisp to it.. Batter had some seasoning which made it tastier. Then my ramen came.. Looked pretty good but portion looked small. But then again for costing $14 can't complain. Broth was nice and hearty and I couldn't quite figure out the flavor. Then I read the description and it said sesame.. Then it made little more sense of the flavor. I definitely would not call it spicy. Ramen noodle was nice and chewy just the way I like it.. Only thing I didnt like was the pork. It was not bad but I prefer the fatty melt in your mouth kind with my ramen. Over all the food was pretty darn good and price was on point. I would definitely come back here again.

My boyfriend and I came to Shimogamo for Mother's Day and ordered the five-course meal. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing compared to our previous visit. The biggest issue was the service. Our waitress, an older woman, came across as dismissive and unnecessarily rude throughout the evening. When we were seated, she offered complimentary rosé. I accepted a glass, but my boyfriend does not drink alcohol, so he politely asked if he could order a mocktail instead. Before he could even finish, she abruptly responded, "No, you can wait to place an order for that," as if he was trying to substitute the complimentary drink, which he was not. He was simply trying to order a beverage. Later, when the braised beef course was served, my boyfriend politely asked if he could have a spoon or fork. The waitress loudly repeated "A SPOON?" in a mocking tone in front of nearby guests, which made the interaction uncomfortable and embarrassing. As for the food, the five-course menu was average at best and far below what we expected from Shimogamo. The salmon tartare and sushi course were both excellent and showed the quality we remembered from our first visit. However, the remaining courses fell flat. The fried branzino was dry and seemed poorly prepared, despite the promising flavors of capers and cream sauce. The braised short rib felt completely out of place on the menu and lacked refinement it was dry, heavy, and more reminiscent of a chain steakhouse meal than an upscale dining experience. The entire dinner also felt rushed, with little attention to pacing or hospitality. What makes this especially disappointing is that we dined here back in November on a double date and had an incredible experience. We spent over $600 that evening, and the service and food were exceptional. Our waitress at that time was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. She guided us through recommendations, and every dish impressed us. That's why this visit was so surprising. Shimogamo clearly has the ability to provide an outstanding dining experience, which makes the decline in both service and execution even more concerning. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because this restaurant was once one of our favorites.
