I have never seen a wet breakfast burrito, but here we are. It's covered in a tomato sauce, but not like marinara or pizza sauce but like a straight almost spaghetti O tomato sauce. Yet... it works? It was delicious. It's filled with egg and potato and choice of meat, but I got mine without. The sauce really brings it some flavor, and the sour cream on top adds a little creaminess. I'm surprised but I'd definitely get it again! My partner got the mozzarella omelette and loved it as well This place has a cute and comfy interior. Cafe Sintra is an under-appreciated oasis in the heart of downtown Bend. I initially hesitated in posting this because I did not want this gem to be overwhelmed by the inevitable onslaught of tourists wearing Ug boots and cheap puffy jackets. My wife and I went in for lunch and we love the place. The ambiance is nice, and new. The service is minimal, but good. Pick what you want and go order at the counter. Our "server" was very nice and attentive to our needs. The pricing is good. My wife had the Italiana Sausage Sandwich, light sauce, on a very good roll and kettle chips of which I am a fan. I thought her sandwich was better than my Asevedo Tacos. I think the steak would have been enough on these tacos. I get the infusion part of things, but I guess it seemed a little heavy for me with the addition of the sausage, which was linguica. Overall, as the pictures show, these were presented beautifully and tasted good. We had a great time and look forward to trying out their Portuguese inspired supper menu sometime soon! Waited over an hour for my breakfast and still never got to eat due to having to go back to work. No apologies for the no show of food. Disappointed in service. Recommend not coming here if you have anything else planned in your day. Update: my boyfriend had stayed behind so he could eat his food and take mine home for later. The food he got (French toast trio) was soggy and didn't come out of the kitchen until 1.25 hours after ordering. The food was below par. We asked for a refund for the service and quality but she refused because they were "busy". Do not recommend this place what so ever. read more

5 stars for ambience and service. 2 stars for food. We had the French toast, which looked beautiful but was so tough and chewy we couldn't cut it with a knife. Pancakes were good but needed more syrup. The butter came in those little peel off packets, which was kind of a turn off given the expense of the meal. And the eggs were entirely unseasoned (easily fixed with salt). Our lattes were lukewarm and just okay. Based on other reviews they may have had an off day. It's just for $48 with tip you expect more (but it's probably the new standard!). We'll try again in the near future. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Bend. Everytime I come to visit my best friend, I ask to go to Sintra. I even bought one of their shirts and it's become my favorite too. I'm not sure what it is about this restaurant but they've just nailed every aspect. The restaurant is cozy and clean. The food is flavorful and fresh. The restrooms are spotless. And the staff has been wonderful. There have been times that they've brought out the wrong dish and we've had to send it back to ask for the correct one we've ordered, but these things are bound to happen. We are always greeted with wait staff that are eager to correct anything that's mistaken and want to ensure we have a great experience. I'll be back! read more

Had an opportunity to randomly pick a place for breakfast this weekend and Sinatra was the landing spot. My day started with a triple shot of espresso and a Portuguese Benedict that was an incredible fusion with a spicy injection of chipotle and and andouille sausage. This is a great little cafe in downtown Bend. We come in for breakfast. The cafe is cute with lots of pictures of Sintra, Portugal on the walls. Its one of those places where you order at the counter and then find a table. The lady at the counter was friendly and efficient I really enjoyed my Portuguese biscuit. I am not sure what all was in it but it really tasted good. My friend was a fan of the Bloody Mary, not so much the breakfast sandwich but that was kind of his fault, he doesn't like mayonnaise and didn't check if it would be on the sandwich Then again it was a breakfast sandwich, I would have been surprised to. My potatoes were cooked at one point in a skillet, but they were reheated in a microwave before landing on my plate. My avocado scramble was watery and lacking flavor. Long time gone since we were in Cafe Sintra for a bite. Today's lunch made us wonder why we waited so long in between visits. Friendly people and friendly vibe inside - nicely captured by Kevan O's photo on the Yelp page. Tuscan gold plaster wall on one side with great photos of Italy and Portugal with more of the same type of photos on the other side of the restaurant, a brick wall there, with Azure blue tile accents here and there and the same color striping on the cement floor. Eclectic music mix on the sound system, turned low enough to allow for conversation but loud enough to be enjoyable if you're working on your laptop. (Free wi-fi here.) But the main reason to go to Cafe Sintra is good food at fair prices. The star of the lunch menu, perfect on a cold wintry day like today, is the Portuguese Chicken stew...like a thick chicken soup that also has cannelini beans, rice and poblano (?) peppers in the splendidly seasoned broth The dollop of sour cream and just a little thin sliced apple nestled in as garnish define "mmmm...good" as soup goes. And at only $8 / bowl, there seems to be always some to take home. This is a standard item for the restaurant, and as many times as we've had it, it is consistently delicious. There are also a couple of other soups on the lunch menu, as well as salad, pizetta and sandwiches. The soup and half sandwich daily special can't be beat at $7.50...fresh ingredients and large half for the sandwich. And we are partial to the Verdure sandwich which is herbed goat cheese with tomatoes and greens. The "drill" here is you order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. If we could make one improvement it would be for them to find a different bread purveyor...the sandwiches would be so much better on some good artisan bread from local Village Baker or Bread LaVoy. If we could make a second improvement it would be to change up their menu from time to time...the laminated menu seems to have been the same listing of options since Sintra opened in Bend several years ago. Okay..we have one more improvement...three wishes as it were...better coffee than whatever they are serving (Bellatazza?) from the pump pot. Regardless, this is a good little place for lunch; 3.5 stars. And we hear breakfast is good too, although we've never made it in for that meal. We'll need to fix that oversight soon. One TIP: There is a nice long table that seats...maybe a dozen?...at the back of the restaurant that looks like it would be perfect for use for an informal working lunch (or breakfast) meeting. read more

Stopped by Cafe Sintra for breakfast w/ a colleague before leaving Bend, OR. The plan was to go on a hike in the afternoon so I went a little overboard with the amount of food I ordered. Had the chorizo benedict and a side of french toast along with a cappuccino. I never had egg's benedict or french toast using sourdough and TBH I'm not a fan. The chipotle hollandaise for the egg's benedict was on point though so I'll give them that. Otherwise I just wasn't impressed--the sourdough was too tough and gave the french toast an unusual (but expected) flavor. The cappuccino wasn't good either...the amount of milk foam was over the top and I had to scoop some out to make it drinkable. Girl needs her caffeine. P.S. I've been visiting Sintra since I arrived in Bend just over four years ago. I've watched as the business has grown and changed. The remodel that was done last year is beautiful and the fact that they've added dinner is wonderful. I've visited for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the food is always tasty. I agree with the other 5 Star reviews, so I'm not going to repeat everything that has been said, but am hoping to add one additional dimension to the experience. I've struggled with finding a sense of community since moving to Bend. Everywhere I've lived, I've always enjoyed having a place where I could go to eat and drink, where the servers and owners have known me, and where I felt comfortable simply hanging out and enjoying the company of the other patrons. Sintra has provided that home and sense of community. I see someone I know almost every time I walk through the door, and the waitstaff always treat me with kindness and respect. It's FIFA World Cup time and they've got their TV's up with the games on! I've never been a huge soccer fan, but I am now. It's been great to feel like part of something and cheering on Portugal (and other teams), with a group of like minded, fun people. I really can't say enough how grateful I've been to have Sintra as my "go to" place. And their Spicy Grapefruit Manmosa is pretty awesome too! read more

As a long time patron of Café Sintra for breakfast and lunch, I was excited to them open up their space with dinner and a full bar. Dinner is served in a café style environment with the lights low and candles on the table. The staff is attentive and informed but in European style, want you to stay as long as you wish and enjoy every moment. We started off with a bottle of red as recommended by the server. Leaving the wine choice to the staff is always the best bet as they know what's tops on their list and how it will pair with your meals. Bread, oil and olives came at the same time as the wine - the bread was lovely, grilled on the charbroiler. We split a salad with prawns - just perfect! My wife had the Top Sirloin. Normally, we are not heavy meat eaters but in a case like this, we were told to enjoy. Not a single bite was less than exemplary. I had the octopus. Grilled and simple, tender without any hint of that rubbery texture an inexperienced chef would present. Flavorful and fresh, exceeding expectations by a wide margin. We also shared the Port Infused Mousse - quite a surprise of flavors, meant to be wed. Highly recommended. As an after dinner treat, we each had an espresso based nightcap - a Spanish custom - "Carajillo". Made with locally roasted BELLATAZZA espresso, brandy, whipped cream, sugared rim and orange zest it was the lift to continue our evening late with conversation as the candle flickered as we fell even deeper in love. This location is just as good as the SunRiver one, but of course parking is a bit more difficult and it is a little smaller. However, the food is still consistently fresh and delicious, and they serve bottomless Bellataza coffee, which is caramel-y and probably one of my favorites in town. I stopped in this morning because my house is being remodeled, and I needed a place to relax for a few hours. It was perfect and I even saw others on their own, with their laptops, newspapers, or books. Waitstaff is efficient but not intrusive, and I was allowed to loiter over my coffee and breakfast as long as I liked. Their bread is always fresh baked and warm, and I just love the jalapeño bread with butter. Today I had the spinach, goat cheese and mushroom crepe, which was exactly as noted on the menu, if a little plain. I may ask for it with a side of hollandaise next time. I appreciated that the crepe was very thin and not at all sweet! Definitely a favorite in Bend - relaxing, and great coffee and food. Will have to try their lunch one of these days! read more

I have never been so appalled, I have been here a couple times with friends and family and Manuel is absolutely a rockstar incredibly good guy. There is a new guy since I last went in I forgot his name but he's bald with a beard seems to be a manager or something, I was in the middle of my order and he cut me off while I was ordering and said anything else as if he was in a hurry, the restaurant was not busy. I didn't complete the rest of my order because I felt almost as if he derelict me. zero attention to detail to the point I didn't want to order anymore. " Starting my meal off wrong and uncomfortable. I stood up to get water and I had my husband go as because at this point I felt just neglected. He told my husband hell be right with us. we finished our meal with no water, didn't offer us anything else and just very very audacious.
