Expect an hour long wait for food. We came here on a Sunday which is pretty busy. It's pay at the front then find a table. When we got there there were lots of tables that didn't get their food yet, we were standing in line for about 25 mins before it was our turn and after we ordered we sat down and had to wait an additional HOUR for our food to come out. We ordered the Portuguese Benedict and two pancakes meal. It came out lukewarm and the food was ok, the portion is pretty small for the price of $48 total. Pancakes were dry, placed on too small of a plate so the eggs were just leaking into the pancakes. They also give you pre-packaged butter which was disappointing for the price ($18). If you're a brunch restaurant at least make your own in house whipped butter. Portuguese Benedict was like any Benedict except for the linguica that came with it. The meal is delivered to the table of your choosing. Self service coffee / water was convenient, while the rich aromatic coffee gets high marks. My Portuguese heart exploded when we came across Sintra during our weekend trip to Bend. Moving from California with a giant Portuguese community to Oregon where I have yet to find anything, was a bit hard but now I know I can always come here for a reminder of home. If you have not tried Sintra's marinated steak and linguica skewers, I suggest going there immediately. You can thank me later. The steak slices were juicy, tender and delicious. The linguica complimented the steak well. Loved the Portuguese salad that came with it too. So fresh, refreshing. Even their iced tea was no ordinary tea, I tasted ginger or some other spices that was different yet really good. Prices were affordable for the quality and quantity of food you get. Loved the decor. Service was pretty good too considering there were only two ladies manning the front at lunchtime. They got pretty busy but never missed a beat. Would have loved giving them a 5star but I am ducking half a star for the method of ordering/paying. The line got pretty long during lunchtime so if you're already eating and you want another beer, you will have to line up again to get one. Very inconvenient. Cute place in downtown Bend with a great food selection. I tried the ham and cheese omelette and the shrimp avocado toast special. Both were simple in execution but perfect in taste. The potatoes that came with the omelette were also surprisingly good. I'm generally not a fan of potatoes but I would order these again in a heartbeat. They were lightly seasoned and flavorful. I had French toast that looked like they brushed one side of the French bread with egg mixture and the rest was just plain. There was no flavor at all except bread. Really love this place. I had their French toast. It was great. It is with French bread (baguettes style) which is really good. My boyfriend got the hash special with various meats and hollandaise sauce-he loved it. He has also had their biscuits and gravy and makes sure to order every time we are here. I just ate at Sintra and I'm sorry to say it was pretty bad. I had a chicken salad and first of all I ordered it with spinach added but I got Spinach not added and no lettuce for an extra charge. It's supposed to be an add on and I believe I paid extra. The worst part though was that the chicken was super hard and tough to chew. Shoe leather hard actually. How do you do that to chicken? There were a lot of candied walnuts in it and that made it way too sweet for my taste but on that score I think a lot of people would like it. I know a lot of people rank this place well, and it's been years since I last visited. Missing our years of living in Europe and hearing it had a euro vibe I came back. What a mistake. The "baguette" served as the base of the Benedict was soft crusted, thin little pieces of white bread. The ham was served on the side for some reason. Possibly because of the *tomato* on a traditional Benedict. Potatoes had bee cooked in oil used far too many times and had a little bit of rancid taste as a result. And they were cold to top it off. Follow that up with an embarrassing cappuccino with over-frothed milk, and about twice the size it should be and you've got anything but a decent breakfast. The only bright spot was that the hollandaise was made well so it covered some of the other problems up a bit. Everything on the menu seemed like it would probably be bomb. I nearly ticked down a mark for being a little over priced but you pay for your food, your experience, and your service. The employees were super helpful and personable, the food was out quick even though it was a busy day. The Luna omelette was pretty tasty, the spicy sauce on top honestly could have used way more spice because I got none but it was still great. I too just finished a plate of lukewarm/cold huevos rancheros. The Ranchero sauce was canned tomato sauce with hot sauce in it. The tortilla's were not grilled, at least they were not cold (maybe a minute on the grill). The menu said add avocado, $3.00. I added. Rang up $4.00. The gal taking my order (you go to the cash register to order them find a table) seemed annoyed that I mentioned this, she started scanning the menu. I said it's right by the huevos rancheros. Oh she said, well this is what it is, we haven't updated the menu, do you want to skip it. I included it. I had a decaf late. Then I had a choice of tip 18%, 20% or 25% - when I'm not actually waited on I tip 10%. Food arrives, barely 1/4 of an avo on top (and it was refrigerator cold) OK they are charging $16 per avo, as avocados are sell for $1.00 to $2.50 max I did feel ripped off. The food runner was working hard and when I told her my heuvos was lukewarm/cold she asked if I'd like another (I was 1/2 way through as I don't believe in washing food) I said no thanks. She didn't have tude. Overall the heuvos was just a slap together tortilla, beans, eggs, sauce, bit of cotija cheese, 1/4 avo on top. Mine didn't have sour cream but it would have only added to the coldness of the dish. The side potatoes were good, that got an extra star. I don't mind bougie, but you have to deliver on the food, both quality and execution. Sinatra didn't. read more
