The food was good, I got the carnitas and they came out cold. My husband ordered the steak tacos and they had a lot of fat. The server was awful she had too many tables and when we asked someone else for salt she told us she was our server and not to ask anyone else for service. She never came around and the manager had to take my cold food to the kitchen. They never bought our corn. Sinigual is exactly what I expected for a Mexican restaurant in midtown East that a lot of people working in the area frequent. Our server was great in that everything came quickly, but the food was nothing special especially for a vegan, I was pretty limited and got the vegetable fajitas which were nothing special. Also note that happy hour is at the bar only and all the margaritas are pre-mixed. Guac portions are small but pretty tasty. Spicy margarita was SPICY but not very strong. read more

Came here with a big school group and everyone really enjoyed their meals! The table side guac was very fresh, although pricey for the size you get. I got the shrimp fajitas which were really good, although again could have used a bigger portion, but it's nyc. The tortillas were homemade which was a bonus. I'll be complete honest... I am not impressed. This place was almost if not as bad as any chain restaurant. If it weren't for the service and dessert I would have given this a 2 star review. We started off with drinks and "steak" nachos that were smothered with more beans than anything else. For our main meals we had two orders of the Supremas Fajitas with all three meats - shrimp, chicken and steak. The shrimps were tiny and overcooked and we barely had any steak on the serving platter just like the nachos (very disappointing and bad quality). For dessert we ordered the chocolate flan crème brûlée which was surprisingly good as well as the drip coffee. I was not going to write this review but the cherry on top was the bathroom... how could a restaurant that was almost empty on a Sunday afternoon have such a dirty bathroom? Christine was accommodating. On the other hand our server, Andrea C. spilled the drink on my jeans and on the table she did not apologize or clean it or bring me tissues. Christine got me tissues, so I wiped my jeans and the table and the area where the drink spilled on the floor. Andrea was rude and only addressed my cousin and not me. The menu for happy hour was misleading the drinks were $8 dollars, but they charged a $1 for flavor, but it is not stated on the menu. Andrea insisted I had more drinks than I had. Lesson learned I definitely will not return there. Stick to AMAZE, where we get great service and drinks are priced as is. The star is for Christine thank you for being so helpful. read more

Came here for an office christmas dinner on the 18th. The waiter was really outgoing and attentive; they seemed to be short staffed though when it came to bussing the table. The sampler platter was pretty good, especially the ribs, and the patron drink i had was good (not the one with the shot). I chose the create your own option and had the taquitos, fish taco, and something else. The fish taco needs work i didn't care for it; the taquitos were ok. I've actually never come to Sinigual outside of happy hours because why would you? HH prices are insane, $5 margs and $20 for a platter of 8 mini tacos?! I was here the other day with a girlfriend and we ended up spending $70 total on 5 margs, and 2 taco platters (16 tacos). The tacos aren't as filling so that's why we got another platter but it is HH, you can mix and match the various proteins too. The drinks are strong and dangerous, I felt like I was downing my drink like nothing. Highly recommend coming for HH, although you do need to sit near the front of the restaurant/bar area which I was not initially informed. read more

Edit: ALAN M was our server was the BEST part of this place. Shout out to him!!! Reality - 2.3 but our waiter was a gem and I realize places like this are for tourist, not natives. Once again, my own fault for trying to find a last minute reservation. We came on a extremely rainy day. I asked for a table for two and the FOH told us no. The food took a while, but I surprisingly enjoyed the mojito. Fresh mint. You can taste the alcohol. Enjoyable experience. The sangria was bad. Way too sweet. Avoid that unless you want diabetes. Our sampler came and the quesadilla. Both were mediocre and confirmed my suspicion that this place is a chain. Reminds me of Applebee's or Outback. Really really poor quality food. We then got the chicken and shrimp fajitas. Bland. Lastly, dessert, Tres Helados. Which she seemed to like. I had just given up on the food and was throwing back the mojito So, this is the interesting part. The bottom of the menus have a COVID-19 up charge. Which is fine, loads of places are doing that. But they also have a labour charge because it's a "local business." Lmao, okay. This place is owned by the Xperience Restaurant Group, they guys behind the positively average Chevy's (Remember that Times Square mess??) and El Torito! They push out this chains of frozen, overpriced "Mexican food." Local business, yeah okay. My eBay shop is a local business too buddy. This was one of the weirdest dining experiences ever! We had a reservation for eight of us for a 40th birthday. Some of us got there a little later and so we sat down order drinks and didn't take that long to order food. For starters they had tortillas on the table along with some butter and two different sauces. We ordered two guacamole and I ordered the shrimp Diablo. It was OK. The rice was pretty bland in the beans fact but the shrimp in sales were pretty good. Most of the food was semi lackluster. They didn't even walk around the table today bring the food stone at the end of dinner server ask if you wanted to third and I asked to see the menu and then he brought us a check instead of the deserving. I think it is hard to hear in there because it is fairly loud and that isn't an excuse for bad service. Walk around if you can't hear. Walk around to serve the plates. Asking us to pass them down was crazy. Maybe a drink but not a hot entree plate. Guacamole was probably the best thing I ate and even then it was a little too spicy. Definitely not a place I would go back to, like ever. We referred to it as an expensive Chili's and that it a great description. read more

Just stopped to meet friends for happy hour. Happy Hour drink prices were normal, $6 draft, $7 mixed. Food specials were not great

After being turned away from three different places for not having reservations, fairly enough, I was relieved when the hostess looked me in the eye, laughed, and said come on in girl we got you! She took me to the bar, introduced me to the bartender and together they made this weary traveler feel so welcome. I have found most New Yorkers to be pleasant and helpful, but these two went out of their way to take care of me. The margarita? FIRE. Worth every bit of $14. The chips and salsa? Complimentary and unique due to the multiple kinds of tortilla chips and two different salsas. Both of which were scrumptious... tasty, flavored, but not very spicy. I do like hotter salsas but appreciate that the ones they chose would be a very good fit for most tongues. I ordered the Mexican Chopped Salad for dinner, exactly the way the menu calls for it, and I was overjoyed at the crisp lettuce, dry cotija cheese, freshly cut avocado, and perfectly grilled and diced chicken. Truly the best salad I had in Manhattan. I will go out of my way to visit them again the next time I'm in the city. Worth every penny. read more

My team and I thought it would be nice to reserve a spot at this restaurant for a holiday dinner. Shit did we think wrong! We had reservations for over 2 weeks on a Tuesday at 6:15pm. We got there 5:50 and the hostess abruptly told us it would be ready at the time we reserved it for. 6:15 rolls around and table isn't ready. Hostess tells us they're cleaning it and it will be ready in 5 mins. 5 mins goes by and she tells us her manager gave the table to somebody who didn't have a reservation?.... So another 10 goes by and she says the table is almost ready. Flash forward to 7:00 and we're finally seated. What a joke. Imagine if somebody on our team had to leave at a certain time? Come here if you love unprofessional service and snarky hostesses who have no problem not honoring reservations! read more

I love the atmosphere at this Midtown luxury Mexican spot, but the service dampened my experience this time. Took work colleagues for dinner, and we chose to eat outdoors. They have done a nice job with a semi-enclosed option or tables under umbrellas on the sidewalk for a more open atmosphere. We had the Cadillac margarita for all three. Unfortunately, I asked for no salt, but it arrived with a salty rim. The drink was good, but not the best margarita I've ever had. I ended up nursing it the whole meal. Instead of chips, they bring warm flour tortillas with butter and two types of salsa. Nice touch. I was nit able indulge due to being gluten-free, but my companions enjoyed. They also ordered chips and guacamole. They said the guac was fresh. The chips were crispy, but lacking in salt. Guac used to be made tableside, but not in the Covid era. My friend and I had the Shrimp Diablo. Large butterflied shrimp in a spicy sauce with roasted red peppers on a bed of cilantro rice and refried beans with a side of sweet corn cake. Shrimp were cooked well, but the sauce was a little too spicy for me despite the server's explanation. I had to neutralize with rice which was good. The corn cake was delicious. Service seemed slow. Long time to get our drinks. Really long time to get our bill. But it seems unfair to mention when staffing levels are low. I still like this restaurant. I've been many times. Well it's been about a month since I've been dining out... my friend and I wanted to check out the new MoynihanTrain Hall @Penn Station ( great! go!) then took the Shuttle to Grand Central thinking we might eat a bite at the Grand Dining Concourse.. well.. no.. nothing is opened except The Market and Magnolia Bakery. Then my friend remembered having a drink at the bar @Sinigual which was @5 minute walk from Grand Central. There is outside dining just like majority of restaurants: tent like dining creations with ceiling heaters, plastic curtains, etc. Sinigual has a slightly upscale feel for a Mexican restaurant, bit pricey but the Happy Hour $5 cocktail special is a good draw. The menu has limited selection of appetizers, of course table side guacamole is offered, variety of soups and salads and combination entrees. The combos offerings are tacos, enchiladas and tamales. Thus for $22 you can select two options, 2 tacos or mix and match, taco and enchilada etc. The sides are rice, refried beans and sweet corn cakes. For $25 you can choose 3 options etc. So.. so far so good right? Well... not exactly. Before I get into the slightly negative feedback let me preface it with this: I'm truly enthusiastic to support any establishment during these difficult times by dining al fresco, ordering takeout or picking my food up. However, when it is 25 degrees out and it's 2 pm and there is only one person dining al fresco at your establishment one doesn't expect to be: Seated at a dirty table and asking our server who doesn't seem to notice, to please wipe table down. Asking for a recommendation as to what to share and not really offering suggestions thus " Hey is the Romaine salad enough for 2 ppl to share" the answer was " not really". Okay then.. any suggestions? Mmm nope. We asked for the salad to come first then our meals. Did that happen? Nope Sangria not part of happy hour??? Huh? Okay let's pause and get to the positive: Romaine salad: really good and enough to share if you and friend are ordering the combination meal or entree Chicken tacos: my friend enjoyed hers The cheese and corn enchilada with chicken tamale served in its husk: I ordered it and loved it The sides: creamiest refried beans: really silky black beans with a sprinkling of cotija cheese on top, sweet corn cake was a nice surprise My margarita without salt: delicious and on point but back to the negative: had to flag down another server to get a second one served with salt So here's why I'm rating 3 stars: inattentive waitress who never came around to check on us, ask if our food was good or did we want another round of drinks?? We had to ask for our check waiting for what seemed an eternity. Okay, if one can't handle 2 diners in a pandemic I have to ask: how did Sinigual handle a plethora of diners pre COVID? Yes, it's really hard right now but seriously.. not even to ask if we wanted dessert? Good thing my friend picked up 2 cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery from Grand Central for the road. Thus all the stars go to the food and drink The ambiance inside is very nice ( see pics). I'm willing to give Sinigual a second chance post COVID. Why? I should have stopped after my Happy Hour to-go margaritas (that I took back to enjoy at my hotel's rooftop patio). For $5 (on the rocks or frozen), this is a tremendous deal from 2-7pm in Midtown. But, as I was in town visiting my daughter and her friend who live here, we went back to enjoy more margaritas, perhaps stay for dinner, and enjoy the scene. While there was plenty of seating in more desirable areas outside, we were seated at the farthest table away, under a loud exhaust fan from the nearby building, and on folding chairs versus the upholstered ones further inland. When I asked to be relocated, we were only offered to switch our chairs. There was an ocean of open tables between us and the center of the scene. So, we stuck to margaritas. My daughter and her friend thought they were quite flavorful, if a bit weak. I agreed. We split the tableside guacamole and all thought it was delicious, as it should be, for $18. Do be aware that this restaurant doesn't serve queso, so if you are craving it, go elsewhere. Which, unfortunately, is what we did. I would have been happy to stay and order off the dinner menu (we were never offered even the Happy Hour menu), but seating us so far away made us feel like sore thumbs. Maybe if I hadn't put down that I am from Vermont on the contact tracing form at the desk, I would have gotten a better table. Unfortunately for the restaurant, my daughter is a local and often scouts out new establishments for a large corporate account she works for. Unfortunately, Sinigual won't be getting a mention with her company nor a repeat visit from us. Unless we find ourselves walking by again and want $5 margaritas on the go. read more

I'll start by saying that we typically LOVE this restaurant for the food and atmosphere. However, my experience over the weekend was so awful that I needed to share. My boyfriend and I wanted to take our friends to Sinigual that were visiting from out of town because we love it so much. Three people in our group ordered fajitas. When our food came, the person who brought our food out fumbled the fajita cast iron (sizzling hot) onto our table. It landed on top of a martini glass, sending glass across the table and the cast iron skillet sliding towards me. My immediate reaction was to stop the plate from going further, therefor burning the finger tips of my entire right hand. I was in immediate pain, but didn't realize how bad it was until later that night when I couldn't bare my hand to be off of cold objects for more than 10 seconds at a time. Simultaneously, some part of the crash also landed on my boyfriends phone, shattering the glass screen protector. Now I know that accidents happen. And I think my group handled this in an extremely understanding manner. However, I was so disappointed on how the management handled the situation. Our server was extremely apologetic (she was not even around to witness the incident). Someone I assumed to be a manager came out to look at the situation as we were moving tables. Which, by the way, the entire table was not even cleared after shattering glass all over. Our drinks and other plates were transferred. One of my friends had glass in his dish and had to ask for a replacement. I asked the manager for some cold water and informed him that my hand was burnt pretty badly. He brought out a cold towel and cold water and that was it. I didn't feel like he even gave an apology for the incident. Our server was the only one who seemed apologetic or concerned at all. I must have been naive to assume that even a drink or my meal in the very least would be compensated. We paid the entire $300 bill and headed straight to CVS to get pain medication and burn cream. Overall, I am just extremely disappointed with the level of professionalism and empathy of the majority of the staff that evening. It really puts a terrible taste in my mouth of a restaurant we once truly enjoyed. read more

This relatively large restaurant (for Manhattan) accommodated our business group lunch very well. I ordered the Carnitas Yucatán ($26) - the pork was super tender and juicy, and the flavors of the corn cake, rice, and frijoles went really well with it. My friend and I came here on a Wednesday evening back in November 2022. We arrived and were seated promptly. We were given tortillas instead of chips and salsa and were a bit confused at first. We ordered one drink each (mojito and house margarita) and placed our food order. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and my friend ordered the steak nachos without the steak since she is vegetarian. The food came rather quickly, which leads us to believe that it was not made to order. Food was nothing to rave about. Presentation was mediocre, food was decent, but a bit on the pricey side. Ambiance is a bit loud, we had to speak loudly to hear each other even though we were sitting right in front of each other.
