Popped in here for a farewell lunch, and was pleasantly surprised at the experience. Point 7 refers to the fact that the earth is 70% covered in water. Inside the cremes and blues made for a nice calming touch to the decor. Service quickly located the reservation, led to the table and had us seated before our full party was there; one of us wasn't able to make it, but that was ok as they figured out half way through and adjusted without delaying anyone else. Service was present but not too frequent, water refilled regularly. A couple of fun seafood appetizer names like The MetLife and The Vanderbilt to reflect the local buildings. Menu is simple, but some elegant dishes. Beet salad was a tasty balance of sweet and crunchy, the focaccia was excellent but small (one order might be enough for 2 to share, rather than a bite for 4 with the butter). Brussel sprouts were good with sticky soy, ginger, garlic and scallions adding flavor. The main - I had the P7 burger which was actually quite good. For a seafood shop, the Tillamook cheddar, pickles, onions and special sauce was well-balanced, juicy (medium) and on a toasted brioche bun. The fries were ok, thick-cut and not really my style. The majestic maritime ambiance with plush teal couches and a stunning bar and ceiling mirror makes it feel like you are on a royal cruise ship. The service is refined. **Disclaimer: this review is for drinks only** I found myself at Point Seven with some of my colleagues for after dinner drinks. We had been dining nearby and walking around looking for a spot to land, however it was easier said than done as many of the spots were closed. Point Seven worked out since it was close to where we were and not crowded at all, so off we went. Point Seven mainly serves as a restaurant, and I infer its location close to Grand Central makes it a popular spot to visit before heading home. By the time we arrived, most of the diners had left but there were still some people at the bar. The space isn't large, but has large windows which give out to the street and make the space seem very open. The decor is gorgeous - it has an interesting, almost abstract aesthetic with cool/fresh colors and lots of plush to make the space look cozy but also modern. They have a full bar, but I drew my attention to the cocktails; there was a good selection of specialty ones as well as classics. NYC prices were out in full force and then some; nothing I didn't expect except for the French 75 that had a price tag of $130 - woof. We ultimately had two rounds, the first drink I had leaves me but for the second one I had the Nautical Mile which was quite good; the quality and flavor were there. Service was good, the bartender made some great recommendations for us and even helped to rectify a situation when my colleague's drink came out way too sweet. The only drawback to this spot is that since it's technically a restaurant, they are not open late. Common I know, especially in Midtown which kinda dies down as the night progresses. Overall though, I had a good time at Point Seven - and my interest is piqued to return for dinner as well as explore more of their cocktails. read more

Great seafood dishes, nice presentation and conveniently located in/around grand central. We ordered app/side dishes to share - tuna tacos and cacio and pepe asparagus, and everyone had their own entrees. I had the scallops, a bit underwhelming in size but the decor of the restaurant makes up for the vibes. We dined for weekday lunch but would be interested to see their dinner service. Service was a bit slow for lunch even though they were not at full capacity. Clean and modern design so that has an appeal for client lunches. read more

This is a restaurant that serves the MetLife building work week residents. If you're looking for a quiet atmosphere and high end sustainable seafood, it's okay. But it does not carry NYC intimate charm or a bustling date night feel. If you're looking for a date night, you may want to consider this for a lunch or early dinner during the week. My friend and I came here during happy hour on a Friday where the bar snacks are 50% off. I ordered everything off the menu except for the fried chicken baos. Service was busy but attentive. The place was hard to find. The ambiance looked smaller than I thought based on the pictures on the site and social media. Overall, I enjoyed the food. Lots of items were fried except for the mussels and clams. I could not decide on a clear favorite. However, the shrimp toast and the fritto misto are worth ordering. I also tried the cocktails. The Advanced Note was not my cup of tea. As a result, I exchanged the drink with Anchor's Away, which absorbed all the fried food consumption. I may come back for restaurant week or even return on a Monday or Friday to try the fried chicken baos. read more

While the food and ambience is fine, I unfortunately cannot dine here again given they overcharged my credit card by putting in an extra $50 in my tip (I had tipped 20% and they input 45%), despite the numbers clearly written on my receipt. When I called to rectify this mistake they were a bit dismissive and said they would call me back in 30 minutes and never did until I followed up again on email and again by phone. They did refund my money once I got a hold of them, but I unfortunately won't dine here again because even if this was an honest mistake, I can't be checking my credit card statement after every meal to ensure a basic task has been completed correctly. read more

If you work in midtown, you need to save this for your next business meal. Point Seven is expensive, but it checks all the boxes of a very upscale (though a notch below fine dining) restaurant: soup that gets poured out of a teapot, attentive service, salads that are $40, but very very good food. It's also quite busy from morning through night (trust me, I've walked past this restaurant at all hours of the day), so it's a good idea to make a res beforehand. Overall, I thought the restaurant was great. The food was really good. We had a group of four people and we split some sushi rolls (4.5/5) to start, and the quality was excellent. The Toro/Scallion rolls (5/5) were the highlight, but all of the rolls were good. We also split the focaccia bread (4/5) and the tuna tostados (5/5). I would recommend getting one foccacia roll per two people, as it wasnt huge. For the main course, we split the steak (4.5/5), which was good but small and the steamed sea bass (5/5). The decor of the restaurant was beautiful and the bar area is pretty. Other reviews have complained about the service being slow, but we did not have that problem and we came in at 6:30 PM and the restaurant was totally full. read more

We came here for an early Brunch around 10am. The aesthetics of this place is absolutely beautiful. That alone makes me want to eat here again. Look at the pictures! There is a sleek cold bar display of seafood within viewing of those seated at ground level. Only ground level and outside patio seating is available for breakfast M-F. Not sure about the weekends. There is a second level located up a few steps that opens up for lunch and dinner. Some of the tables there have sofa settee type seating. You'll see a private space up there for their Omakase Menu. We really enjoyed our breakfast so much and wondered what the lunch would be like. I ordered the Avocado toast and the presentation was gorgeous and simple all at once. My guest had the Eggs Benedict shakshuka and she just loved it. We also ordered the crispy potatoes on the side and 2 cappuccinos. I ordered an omelet to go to bring to my partner for later. The omelet was one day old by the time he tried it. Even reheated he thought it was amazing. And now he'd like to come with me the next time I eat here---and there will absolutely be a next time. The only linens that they have at the table are the napkins. I thought the place setting was a little crowded for 4 people where we were seated. There was just the two of us and my friend kind of felt cramped eating next to me so she moved opposite of me to have more room. It might be that our entrees were too large for each of our personal eating space on the table. When we were were seated we found the noise level here to be loud so you may be a bit hard pressed to hear your companions sitting across from you when the place is in full swing with most of the morning diners (it seemed to us at the time) being business people doing their breakfast meetings. Private dining available up the steps and can be sectioned off with a heavy blue curtain. I found the space to be quite lovely and am thinking of booking it for a future event. It can be hard to find if you don't know your way around Grand Central Station. Best way to find it is to walk along Vanderbilt between 42 and 45th. That's how I found it. read more

Environment is nice and food is pretty good, but it's overpriced. For example, two grilled white asparagus is $24. Also I think they are understaffed. During lunch hours, it takes over 45 minutes to prep your food. If you are taking a lunch break from work, don't go there because you may not make it back in time. read more

From the minute you walk in to the restaurant until the time you leave, the staff was amazing! The restaurant and all it's beautiful dining spaces including the private party rooms are stunning and chic....all around a great vibe! The bar is huge and drinks are amazing. The wine list is enormous with incredible options. The food was spectacular in taste and presentation, super fresh ingredients. Desert was made and served to perfection. The chef came out to say hello and was present throughout the evening, he was super fun to talk with, extremely knowledgeable and clearly cared about all of his customers experience in his establishment. He takes a lot of pride in his creations and it was evident throughout the evening. Can't wait to go back for dinner and definitely going to book for a party! Sent entree back for correct temperature-- ok NBD but to find out my colleague had undercooked fish and didn't say anything -- unacceptable. We took a salmon salad to go and upon opening , it was raw. Either their oven is broken or they need a new chef. Thankfully manager refunded the entree that came out wrong even after regrilling. I'm honestly unpleasantly surprised by my experience at Point Seven today. I went for a special birthday lunch and both the food and service were subpar - especially for the price. The entire staff seemed frazzled and unhappy and it was not particularly busy. Our drinks arrived after our food and the meal was mediocre at best. I got 3 scallops and a pile of arugula with a bit of quinoa mixed in for $45. I couldn't have either of the sauce options that came with the scallops (no one's fault) but instead they just came out unseasoned. I had to wait for almost 10 mins to get someone to bring me salt and pepper. It was my first time, and will certainly be my last. read more

The ambiance is beautiful. The restaurant is truly stunning, the food just didn't quite do it for me. The dishes weren't properly executed or were just missing something. I started with the focaccia bread And hummus, was good not great 7/10. Then the shrimp in garlic and wine sauce 8/10, you'll def need more dipping bread. The octopus was just objectively bad. Absolutely one of the best new restaurants!! They just opened three days ago and I can say that it's not going to take long for this place to become wildly popular. The dinner and desserts we ordered were absolutely spectacular and the service was wonderful. I asked for a Shirley Temple drink (this is actually a great way to know if the bartenders are any good since it's such a basic nonalcoholic drink that's often poorly made), and it was such a delicious take on the drink! Bravo! If you're looking for something akin to Nobu or maybe abc kitchen (which Nobu Malibu is one of my absolute favorites), this is definitely worth a visit! read more

Vibe was good--though a bit loud for my old lady ears--and service was great! Not sure if this is an overall NYC thing or just the price of ingredients these days, but everything was about 10-20% higher than I would have preferred (and I don't mind spending $$$ on high quality food). We had a reservation for 6, we finished at 8. The food was mediocre at best, and not worth the price tag. The portions are super small, we weren't starving at the end of it but we left unsatisfied. The service was piss poor. The table next to us was there before we even arrived and they received food at the same pace as us. My wife & I stopped by for early dinner this evening. In short, the food was superb, service was outstanding, but ambiance/noise level was unbearable. We shared the shrimp & grits, grilled octopus, and sea bass. The octopus in particular was excellent, tender, delicious. Kudos to the chef. Problem was the noise level. The bar runs most of the length of the restaurant. On Thursday evening the bar was packed for happy hour. Since all the double tables were adjacent to the bar area, my wife and I couldn't hear each other speak, unless we yelled. Clearly a poorly designed layout that doesn't provide any noise barrier between the bar area and the dining section. There is a second dining section in the back, but were told there were no tables available. If we were ever to go back, I would insist on sitting in the back. Otherwise, pass. read more
