Excellent experience, highly recommended! I recently had Simply Moving help me move my belongings from a one bedroom apartment in Jersey City to another apartment nearby. They made the whole experience entirely stressfree and they were extremely efficient. Prior to the move, I was apprehensive because of the many logistical issues that are faced on moving day. I wasn't sure if I had packed my stuff well enough, or if they might charge extra like some packing companies do if they have to do unanticipated work. The four gentleman that showed up at my door on moving day (Water, Washington, Salvador and Frank) quickly put my mind to ease. They arrived promptly as scheduled, marched into my apartment like a well-trained army and proceeded to empty it in surprisingly little time. Not only were they highly efficient (they worked non-stop from the get go), they were very careful with my belongings and they listened respectfully to my instructions. In a word - professional. The fragile items and large pieces of furniture were wrapped in protective cloth and materials. The loose items that I had not packed away into boxes were carefully placed into large plastic bins. The headboard of my bed and the legs on my dining table were carefully unscrewed. My TV was placed into a box and sufficiently padded. All of the clothes hanging up in my wardrobe and closet were placed into wardrobe boxes. At the other end, when they were unpacking my belongings into the new apartment, they were just as careful to unwrap everything and place it exactly where I asked them to, all without making any marks or scratches on the walls and floors. None of my belongings were damaged at all - every plate and glass and lightbulb survived!Everything that was disassembled was reassembled. They patiently worked with me when I asked them to rearrange the location of some larger pieces of furniture (since you don't always know where every item is going to be placed before you actually move). All of the clothes from my wardrobe and closet were hung up in the new closet exactly as they were. The entire job, that was estimated to take 6 to 7 hours by other moving companies, was done in under five hours. The final bill was exactly the amount that I was quoted beforehand, based on the inventory that I supplied. They did not haggle over unpacked items or the few miscellaneous items that I left off the inventory. Altogether an entirely stressfree, and indeed pleasant, moving experience, made possible by simply moving and their highly professional team. Next time I move, I will certainly choose Simply Moving again. I couldn't recommend them more highly. read more

This could have easily been an average review or worse - but it is not. It is a good review for a good company with excellent staff. Here's a brief rundown of my experience: My belongings (1 small bedroom worth of junk you wouldn't even find on Hoarders: Buried Alive) were scheduled for pick-up from storage within a 2 hour window. The items were to be delivered to my new 1 bedroom apartment. To start, the scheduling process was pre-K simple. It was super fast. And there was a written confirmation in my e-mail within 5 minutes of hanging up the phone. Mind. Blown. Simply Moving has a certificate of insurance, which my landlord requires movers to have, and were proactive about inquiring what exactly was needed and providing it. Jaw. Dropped. On the day of the move, for reasons beyond their control, the original crew was unable to arrive within the 2 hour timeframe. It was one of those perfect storms that tend to happen when the 1st of the month, graduations, holidays, truncated work weeks, and gorgeous weather all hit at once... things could have gone horribly awry but the dispatcher did inform me of the delay, apologized, and was able to get a 2 live crew to fill-in: Mitch and Dave. I am sure all their crews are great - as evidenced by Simply Moving's stellar reviews on Yelp. That said, I think I was very fortunate to get Mitch and Dave. They were sensitive to the fact I was delayed and kept me updated on their status. Plus, it was like a (positive/welcomed) whirlwind hit when they arrived. I've moved plenty of times before and typically had a 3 man crew that took twice as long, if not more. These guys were quick, efficient, and careful. No damage to my treasure trove of forgotten goodies. No marks on the freshly painted walls of the new apartment. No bumps, dents, or dings at all. Nothing. Nada. Even though there were some tight spaces. That's a rarity. Plus, the guys were personable, professional, pleasant ... really they were perfect. And the time saved by their efficiency more than compensated for any delay. I was completely moved in 2 hours. I've experienced 4+ hours with other companies, excluding breaks. Overall, despite what could have been, and with great appreciation to Mitch and Dave, Simply Moving was simply amazing. I would certainly use them again (and so I recommend them to you). 5 stars. In the beginning, I was pretty skeptical about choosing this company, but I followed through since my friend vouched for their excellent service. I was moving from my parents house to my new apartment and I have never moved before. It was pretty stressful planning the move as anyone could imagine their first move to be, but when I spoke to a customer representative, they were VERY patient and answered all my questions. I learned a lot about how a moving company works. A lot of the reviews here say they overcharge, but all I know is they charge by cubic feet and have given me a fair price. Even with a quote sometimes you cannot get all the exact measurements exactly right because lots of items come in non-standardized sizes you can pull out your tape measure and start measuring inch by inch and penny pinch but this company was so honest, they even refunded me the extra items that I decided not to take on the quote. When the movers arrived on time within their arrival window, I was greeted amicably by their foreman who explained the contract fairly well and guided his whole crew outstandingly. I had so many things I did not even know I had and I was worried that they were not going to finish by the end of the day. I could see that they were tired, but they powered through and we finished early with no problems and had time for dinner. I really appreciate the professionalism and how hardworking these people are. Many people don't understand how exhausting moving is because people think "how hard is it to pick things up and put them down"? I live on the third floor and some days its hard for me to haul myself up the stairs... and this is coming from a petite girl. Imagine walking 3 flights of stairs about a hundred times with a sofa!! My parents taught me well to give back to those who have done you right and left them 20% tip. I also ended up not wanting to keep some of my furniture and clothes, so I asked the movers if they'd like to keep it for themselves rather than me sticking it in somewhere it doesn't belong in my new apartment. A couple of the guys ended up liking it and kept it without extra charge. I really appreciate that. I didn't expect to clean much of my stuff out but it ended up freeing a lot of my space! This was, by far, one of the worst moving companies I have ever used. Although the movers themselves were punctual, friendly and fast, and the owner, Stefan, more personable than most, he even called to see if the move was successful (before I opened the boxes). It wasn't until after I started unpacking my things that I found the damage to my items. The first thing I noticed was a lamp was broken but in pointing this out to one of the movers, he said all I had to do was reconnect the wires. I'm not an electrician so I was not about to play with the wiring and possibly get electrocuted. Upon unpacking more boxes as the days have gone by, I found that my grandmother's antique dishes have been completely destroyed, a $600 leather executive chair had the leather ripped and the bottom destroyed rendering it completely unusable, a box of 12 wine goblets completely destroyed and that's just what I've discovered so far. The antique dishes are not replaceable as they were over 80 years old and of sentimental value to me. It wasn't until I wanted to use the executive chair that I found the leather ripped and the bottom broken when I saw the chair was neither level nor stable. I used this company because of the positive reviews I read on yelp but would not recommend them to anyone who wants to preserve their personal belongings. I was told by the initial rep that the move had to be paid for up front, which I refused to do. Now I see why they wanted the money up front, even though I was assured that everything would go smoothly and I had nothing to worry about. I should have expected something like this when I first called their office only to get a recording stating the voice messaging had not been set up. When I stated this to the rep, he said to call right back because there may have been a problem with the phone. I should have followed my gut instinct and hired someone else. All in all, I spent $440 on the move and I would have been better offer using a much cheaper mover, at least then I would have at least expected some damage. I even went so far as to check them out with the DOT and found they had no complaints, but obviously you can't count on that either when doing your research. I definitely did not get what I paid for and am thoroughly disgusted. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company, you will regret it. read more

As I'd been considering moving, I kept an eye on trucks that would come to my building the past few months & would jot them down. Once the decision was made & I started calling around (which was a super tight timeframe, like, 4 days... eek!), from the moment I called for a quote and spoke with John, Simply Moving was great to work with! When I called to change the items I was moving, I was very pleased to see the price didn't change by much at all. John was nice and responsive, even placed a follow up call to confirm I received the quote. They were lower than the other quotes I'd gotten, which made me a little wary, but when I saw all the glowing Yelp reviews that sealed the deal. I moved today and the team (Journey, Scott and Ricardo) made an otherwise typically painful & dreadful project a joy, if that's at all possible when speaking of a move. They called to confirm their ETA and were literally right.on.time. We had to wait a bit for my building's moving time-frame (snafu on my building's end), but the team didn't waste time and came right up with their materials to begin wrapping & packing my items. The ENTIRE TIME they were friendly, professional and QUICK. They navigated the tight landing to get to my apartment from the elevator with ease, my items were packed with precision. They even beat me to my new destination taking the truck route & all. Every thing I asked for was done with a smile, no problem, our pleasure attitude - which included doing some serious maneuvering with current furniture in my new place to accommodate what I brought over. SM's customer service is ON DECIMAL POINT. I wholeheartedly recommend Simply Moving to anyone considering moving, they will make an otherwise arduous, torturous & stressful project much easier to manage. Oh, and they gave me a Yelp $50 promotion they running that I didn't even know about! Finally, Simply Moving is owned by a man who was a mover and he has hired friends he worked with in the past, you gotta love the entrepreneurial spirit... had to ask if this was a family-business as their fun-loving, family energy during the move made me curious!:). I felt the need to update my review, since what I discovered shortly after the move was that an important box was lost in the shuffle. I felt pressured to leave a positive review just after, and kick myself for doing it so soon. While they later offered 50$ for the lost box, that by no means covers the years I spent accumulating the items inside of it. (I keep telling myself.. they are just material possessions.. let it go.) But if I may update to include my actual experience: - Driver arrived about 2 hours early, and was upset when I wasn't there to meet him. I told them they were early but they seemed frustrated I was not there, so I ran home to facilitate and this made the move more hectic than necessary. - Movers were a shady in that they said they wouldn't charge for extra boxes as long as I gave them extra tip (tbh -- I would of preferred it on the books, and regret not saying anything, but it was around the holidays and I was open to giving more in cash) - They were a bit over aggressive in wrapping things I felt only needed a blanket and some tape... or were already wrapped. A lot of items got tape residue on the surface as a result. -They left before me when going from the Bronx to lower Manhattan. I took the train and still got there about 1/5 hours before they did. This meant they did not finish move until about 8pm. Again -- impressing on me they deserved an extra tip for this. - While I regret not numbering boxes before the move, I still feel the rushing was unnecessary given we still did not complete until 8pm, and then a box was lost. No responsibility taken on their end, but the contents inside were easily closer to $1,000, and not items that can be replaced. I had a great first experience with them moving from Brooklyn, but the Bronx move was easily the worst move experience I've ever had with movers. Maybe this is borough/staff thing, but I will never use this service again, or recommend it, though I do hope customers in other boroughs enjoy a better experience. These guys are absolutely awesome! Let me start from the beginning! Out of all moving companies that I checked they are the only ones who offered immediately to come at my place and do free estimate! I think Mike picked up the phone and once he saw that move will be bigger (even though its 1 bedroom place) he advised me to have on-site estimate so there won't be any issues or price changes which I accepted. As promised Carlos came to my place he was very kind and thorough. He took his time checking everything and was not upset for 300 questions my wife asked :P He promised us quote and call same day and again they came thru. He called us back and offered the price that was in between with all other quotes that we got, however they were over the phone and we felt more safe with his estimate as we were promised same price. As the day of the move was coming I also received call from the office to confirm the move which was also very nice thing especially cause we decided to take 1 item that we previously told Carlos will stay behind. They updated quote on spot and resend it to me, WITHOUT CHANGING PRICE! At the pick up we had elevator, which unfortunately broke on the day of the move and they ended up doing 3 flights of stairs. They increased price for it which is totally reasonable as they had to work much more due to this change. We moved to ground floor which was easy. Another thing that surprised me is that we ended up with 6 more boxes, that was the part where I expected price change (cause of the all stories that you can hear about moving companies where they look for every single thing just to increase the price) - leader of the team just smiled to us and said its nothing to worry about, they will handle it. These 3 guys knocked-out our move in less then 5 hours, from Manhattan downtown to Woodside in Queens despite stairs and awful traffic where they lost over 1h! Extraordinary service! Impeccable care! a GREAT experience. We needed a reliable moving company to move our large and heavy custom-made furniture, 30 cardboard wardrobes (yes, I love fashion!), 40 book boxes (my husband and I love books!) and tall dishes of decor and other items from NYC to NC - from our Co-op one-bedroom apt (filled as a 2 bedroom's one!) and from our storage space downtown. We wanted a direct trip, with one truck. First of all, Emi came several times at home upon my request to give us an appropriate (and very decent) estimate and to calculate the cubic feet all would occupy. Emi is very professional and understands your needs. When I saw the truck, I feared all what we had would not fit. Dan (the driver and one of the movers) made things happen! It was almost a miracle, but all did fit in the truck!!! He came with a team of 2 movers to move out our stuff and they all were very efficient: the furniture was very heavy, being from wood and custom-made and they helped us to dismantle them. They protected all our items with great care and did not make a scratch on any of them! Dan drove the truck with another team member to NC as soon as the truck was filled! I could not believe it.... we went to NC by car and in the morning we arrived, they were there..... The two crew members unloaded everything, placed all items where we wanted, removed the covers and I remain impressed by the speed and great care this was done! It took 5 hours to unload everything and then, they had to return to NYC. I can't say how amazing the crew is: professional, helpful, caring, and all done in a great spirit and smile. It was very hot, but they did not even complain once! This was a successful operation, and we have been very happy with their services. This team deserves more than 5 stars!!! I will us them again. I originally gave them a 3-start rating and updated it to 4-starts. Rationale for 3 stars The team team did a good job unpacking and unloading, despite a few small hiccups. The small hiccups (detailed more below) were the team not being fresh and the lead on the team asking for a minimum 20% tip in the middle of the move. Rationale for 4 stars After I posted, someone from the company quickly called to explain that they agreed the mover was in appropriate and would handle it internally. They also wanted to fully understand the concerns, refunded me for the tip due to how it happened, and seemed to want me to walk away with a positive experience. I will use them again. If it's just one guy who's inappropriate and the company is responsive in handling process and personnel issues, that is good sign as a company grows. Hiccups: They didn't arrive until 4 to 5 pm. They should up on time, but visibly tired and talked about being tired and hungry when they should up. I would have preferred a fresher team to be even more effective. In the middle of the move, John, the team lead, said that a 20% tip was mandatory. At first I thought I heard him say that it was in the contract, which, if it was, is fine because I signed the contract. Then he clarified that it's not in the contract and he believes his team should always get a 20% tip in cash. People should be rewarded for good work. But the way he said it was inappropriate. I have used 6 different moving companies in the past 7 years in 3 different states have never had a mover demand a 20% tip in the middle of a move. I would recommend the service to someone, tell them about the demand for 20% tip, and recommend they choose an earlier time window so the team is more fresh. read more

I recently organized a move for my boss and his family from New York to California, and it was one of the most overwhelming experiences I have ever had. Thankfully, I had an amazing team from Simply Moving who not only worked tirelessly and efficiently, but every member was also kind, courteous and friendly from beginning to end. Starting from the consultation, Carlos did a phenomenal job measuring and assessing every item in the house. I can't even recall how many times I bothered him (even on his days off!) to get a revised quote, because there were so many changes on our end regarding the dates, what we were moving to CA, where those items were going to be picked up, which furniture needed to be disassembled, not to mention all kinds of additional requests such as arranging a meeting for my boss to meet Stefan. I can't thank Carlos enough for accommodating every one of our needs!! During the moving week, Stefan and Walter patiently answered all of my questions and worked with me to make sure we were receiving the best service possible. They packed for 2 full days, and loaded everything on the third day. Every one of the 280 items that we numbered was packed, loaded, and delivered without any damages. What impressed me the most was how well Stefan took care of the move to the very end. He did everything he could to ensure that even the biggest furnitures (8'x7') the family owned were assembled correctly. I am blown away by the level of customer service they have shown me. Simply Moving moved our overstuffed one bedroom across the Bronx a week and a half ago. They were amazing! Leat and Stefan are extremely knowledgeable and professional. They came to our apartment before the move, answered all our questions, and promised particular attention to some special and antique pieces of furniture. We did not get such personal attention from any of the other movers we called. The day of the move, they showed up on time and got right to work. All of the men were extremely pleasant to work with, helpful, and professional. These were men who knew what they were doing! Whenever I tried to move a box or tape something up, they said they'd take care of it - and they did! I felt they were truly concerned about our belongings AND us. We had just a tremendous amount of stuff. The elevator in the new building is SLOW and small, and this alone probably added 1-2 hours to the move. Yet not once did they complain! They were cheerful and hard-working. These guys pressed on through the day and finished the job on time. All of our things arrived at our new place in the same condition as they left the old place. Stefan, one of the owners, went above and beyond for us. He personally supervised the morning move and was cool as a cucumber when our SNAFU arose. He went out of his way to resolve it, with a bit of good cheer to boot. I was so impressed by these movers that I called Leat immediately to thank her. Our first impression - and the reason we went with Simply Moving - was that they seemed trustworthy, caring, and professional. Experience has confirmed this. I used Simply Moving last March to help me ship a bed from Jersey City to Harlem. Overall, they were easy to work with and Stefan was incredibly helpful. My driver was extremely late. I can't tell you how many times I called the office or answered a call from someone at their office with an update on where the driver was. This was my biggest problem. I find myself partly to blame for this since the driver was traveling from the city into Jersey City. I was a bit shocked to see that there was only one mover. I watched him struggle a bit to wrap my bed so I helped him out because I felt bad, but also it was extremely late and I didn't want him getting stuck in traffic during the rush hour. My new apartment was on a 5th floor walk up so needless to say I assisted him with bringing the bed upstairs. All in all I left a nice tip for the guy but honestly was annoyed about the entire situation and felt really bad b/c the guy seemed beat. I also thought it was a bit weird how two weeks after my move the remaining balance was taken out of my account. I didn't hear from anyone from SM after my move was complete and I was under the impression that they must have gave some sort of discount because of the issues I had with the move. I definitely recommend Simply Moving for someone looking for movers. I really think most of my issues stemmed from going from Jersey City to Harlem, but overall I was satisfied with the work. No matter how many times I moved, the process doesn't get easier, especially when I have A LOT of stuff more than I'm willing to admit. So what do I do, decided to burden someone else with my stuff by giving them away to a friend. So here's when Simply Moving came to the rescue! My friend called them up at 11pm on Saturday requesting a next-day morning move before his flight out of town. I was sitting next to him when he called Simply Moving to ask for a quote and I didn't expect anyone to accommodate such request at a budget let alone at 11pm on a Saturday for a next-day move. Surprisingly, Stefan answered the call and in just a few minutes efficiently confirmed the appointment and even meeting my friend's budget. "What!? No way it can go so smoothly as planned," my pessimistic self said to my wary self. Next morning, Sunday morning mind you, before 8am, I was informed two movers will be at my apartment within 30-minute. What followed truly seemed too good to be true... Eddie and Michael were these two awesome movers who accommodated our odd and additional requests after requests. They treated every piece of item with amazing attentiveness and making sure all our needs were taken care of each step of the way (and we have A LOT of needs). My friend and I can't say enough positive words to praise their professionalism and customer service. We are still in awe and so grateful that Stefan, Eddie, and Michael turned our hectic last second moving plans into a breeze. read more

Our experience started with their phone staff- top-notch, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. You can call them and ask for the person with whom you spoke before, so you're not constantly re-inventing the wheel. Miraculously, you also don't get the dreaded phone-tree here, real people actually answer their phones at this establishment. What a novel idea! When we weren't sure about the exact move date and we needed some time to figure it out, I asked the staff-member to give us a call in about a week. She did exactly that, explained the difference in charges between peak and non-peak dates, and we were able to make our decision. Our move morphed into something bigger than originally planned, and at each step along the way, she sent a revised email quote immediately. On move day, the crew kept us posted as to when we could expect them. They arrived on time, packed everything up patiently and carefully, and they did not rush us as we were putting our remaining scattered items into the last couple of boxes. They carried all our heavy stuff down the tight stairwells in our old apartment's walk-up. Every member of the crew was polite, friendly, pleasant and cheerful; these qualities go a long way in transforming what could be a very stressful day into a smooth one. In the end I even trusted them with our guitar. Everything arrived in one piece, and the guitar was still perfectly in tune when it was placed in the new apartment! I have nothing to say but compliments about the company. From the start the whole process was excellent. Our estimator, Carlos came as scheduled, eventhough my area was very difficult to find street parking. In fact, he arrived at the lobby earlier than me. He was very professional, courteous and clearly explained every cost in detail. I even received a $50 yelp discount. I was very upfront about my horrific past moving experience and didn't want to go through that again. He assured me that this experience will be different. I gave him very detailed explanation on what time they have to be here due to the difficulty parking and because I live in a coop building, the time they have to start and finish. On the day of my move, I was really surpised that the guys came about 30 minutes earlier than my request. I was even more surprised when I saw only 3 guys assigned to perform the job. I have alot of items and wasn't sure that these guys could complete the move by the specified time. Wow, did they prove me wrong. Not only these guys were fast but they were efficient and strong. They wrapped my piano securely and lifted it with ease. They also took apart my wooden cabinets, desks and beds and reinstalled it perfectly at my new house. The whole move was fast, efficient and I have nothing but compliments about the team they assigned for this move. These guys were also polite and funny. I recently had a very difficult situation, I had to move from Manhattan to Long Island City on July 1st, apparently one of the busiest days for the moving industry. I got a call from Simply original team which was supposed to make my move and Milan the foreman apologized and very professionally explained to me that unfortunately his team is stuck in Park Slope and he will not be able to come for the next 2 hours. For me it was critical to be done by the move in the next 5 hours since in addition to the new apartment I had to go to a storage place with the movers. Although at first I was disappointed I realized that this was not something Milan and his crew could really control. What happened next is what impressed me with Simply Moving. Within 10 minutes I got another call from Sasha who was the foreman on another team and he assured me that I should worry about anything and that his team will be at my place in the next 30 minutes. Within 20 minutes Sasha and Gustavo were in my old apartment and had started packing everything. They were done within 2 hours and we were on our way to Long Island City. When we arrived in Long Island City, it started pouring rain which did not slow down Sasha and Gustavo for a minute, it was already 8 pm but these guys did not stop until they had moved everything from the truck to the new apartment. Working with Simply Moving was such a blessing. I was contacted by Mike almost immediately after submitting a request for a quote, and they were able to accommodate a lot of special requests such as disassembling and reassembling a mechanical frame bed (remotely moves up and down) for an extra fee of $100 total (whereas other places had higher disassembly and reassembly packages). On the big day they were scheduled for 8AM to 10 AM arrival window - I was called at 7:45 and notified they were 15 minutes away. Although we only had a few large items, they took their time and extraordinary care in thoroughly wrapping everything (bed, sofa, dresser, nightstand, tv and tv stand). Our new apt is pretty small and I was worried about the large furniture fitting down the narrow hallway, but again they took their time to pivot back and forth to make it work never once getting frustrated. The two movers who assisted us were so friendly and helpful even though items were so heavy and needed to go up and down several flights of stairs. My boyfriend and I are not handy and were dreading getting our new place together or burdening friends during a pandemic with heavy items (and no parking by the new apt). Everything was set up and assembled perfectly in place, ready for us to just enjoy. Also, for COVID safety they both had masks on for the entire time, 8 AM to 12:30 PM. Thank you, Simply Moving!!! Simply Moving was simply fantastic. Seriously: stop looking for another company. I've done three moves over the last seven years, and these guys by far provided the most efficient, fairly priced and all around pleasant experience. The flat rate Stefan quoted me over the phone was so reasonable, I was wary of the level of service that would be provided. Believe me, I shopped around. It was literally half of what two other companies quoted. I was skeptical, but found the reviews so positive, I figured I'd give these guys a shot. I could NOT be happier that I did. From the moment I first spoke with Stefan through the end of the job, it was clear to me that this is a man who takes serious pride in his business and the level of customer service provided. That ethic extends to his employees as well. The day of the move, Stefan, Giga and Jesus arrived, with such clear confidence in their team's ability to get this job done that I actually felt relieved. Who can relax on moving day?? An unexpected, last minute change of plans required my furnishings to be kept in storage in between residences. This resulted in several questions that the owner, Stefan, responded to in record time. The team lead on my Oct 1st move was Chanel. I had requested him based on my positive past experience since he is courteous, fast, professional, and highly capable. Every moment that Chanel and his team were on the job they were working hard to get this move accomplished in record time. This was the fastest and easiest move that I've ever experienced.
