One of several damaged pieces of furniture.

This review is long overdue but I hope it will still be helpful. Our experience was terrible, simply terrible. There were far too many failures to list, but here are just a few (yes, there are more!): (1) Extreme damage to many of our possessions including destruction of my son's desktop computer and my other son's laptop computer, damage to an antique clock, furniture, clothes, and more, (2) They arrived, someone at the building told one of them that the elevator was not reserved for them (it was), I asked the crew to wait while I cleared it up, it took me 10 minutes to do that and when I returned they had left. It took a long time to get them back. (3) Short handed crew of three caused extreme delays, I ended up doing a ton of work myself that day, (4) I paid extra for them to pack but they provided one very slow packer, and he often dumped things into boxes without packing material leading to a lot of the damage, (5) One of the three crew members seemed to be on his first job and so was of little help, (6) The crew fought with each other, no doubt because of the pressure they felt because they were understaffed, (7) Due to the lack of proper staffing we got to the new building (just three blocks away) hours past the move-in window with the first box entering the new apartment at 7:45 pm & the last box at midnight. The super in the new building had to cancel his personal plans and I had to pay him out of my own pocket to stay around, & he and my new neighbors were extremely upset, and for good reason, (8) They caused damage to our new building's walls, (9) After spending a lot of time trying to get Simply Moving to pay for the damage, they offered to cover a small percentage of it, and then they stopped responding to my emails. This move really cost me.

DO NOT USE THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY!! I hired Simply Moving in December to move me from Astoria to Westchester. I paid for three people for five hours at a rate of $175 per hour. I already moved most of my stuff so this move was just for the bigger furniture. I had everything ready to go, even the mattresses were wrapped. They showed up on time at my apartment with three guys. I did not watch them all that closely because I hired professionals to do a professional job. They were out of my apartment in less than an hour and a half. When they showed up at my new place in Westchester an hour after I arrived (we both left at the same time), only two guys showed up. I asked what happened to the third guy and they said he got sick due to stomach issues (bogus answer). They started unloading everything and I noticed much of the furniture was not wrapped and the shelves had not been taken off the bookshelves or the buffet. During transport two chairs were severely damaged. As they had not taken the shelves off the buffet, a shelf pin was lost. Instread of picking up the office chair, one mover just pushed it throughout the whole house and ended up scratching the floors in multiple places. One mover worked on building the crib, which he took apart for transit. He used a power tool for the allen screws and put it together wrong. He ended up stripping the allen screw while put together wrong and made the crib completely unusable. When I made a claim, I received very poor responses and no responsibility for the movers poor service. They only wanted to reimburse me very minimally because I did not pay for extra insurance. They then tried to make me sign a waiver I would not post a negative review in order for me to get my credit. Then when I refused and changed the wording to what I thought acceptable they ended up CHARGING me instead of crediting me. I got my credit finally but I am not happy. DO NOT USE THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY!!

Moving can definitely be stressful, but not with Simply Moving. Found them on Yelp, read their reviews, and booked them. The team was on time, super friendly, and super efficient. They wrapped every piece of furniture and had my 1 bedroom place inside of a truck in 30 minutes. I definitely recommend them. Not only were the movers great, but Mariah, who answers the phone, was super helpful with providing my quote, and answering my questions.

This review is 2 years overdue. We were moving from NYC to SF, and went through Unpakt to book with SimplyMoving. Sadly, when our stuff arrived in SF, almost every single piece of furniture suffered significant damaged and/or malformation. As a result, we had to discard multiple pieces of furniture as they were no longer usable. The best part, they offered $150 for the damages incurred, which to date (2 years later), they still haven't paid. Details & photos below. Proceed are your own risk. Item_104 - Bench:  bench surface suffered from deep cuts, despite of protection blanket Item_115 - Nesting Table:  one of the 4 legs was severely bent Item_119 - Work Bench/Desk:  one of the 4 legs was broken off Item_124 - Bar Stool:  one arm of the single piece of solid steal stool was bent Item_128_129 - two shelves were completely broken down and twisted Item_136 - Painting:  large aluminum steel picture was bent at the corner Item_140 - Lamp Shade: shade is punctured and malformed

TLDR: The movers were unprofessional and tried to cheat me. This was my first time booking movers. I was worried, but my brother had recently used them and had a great experience, so I was optimistic. Unfortunately, I had such a terrible experience that I'm afraid to hire movers again. I've never been the type of customer that raises my voice or complains to the manager, but my experience was so bad that for the first time in my entire life I did both. The 2 guys who came to pick up my stuff were late, out of uniform, slow, rude, and extremely unprofessional. On the plus side I saved money, cause I didn't tip them. There were a number of issues I could mention, but the biggest issue is when they claimed they had to park really far away, so I would have to pay an extra "Long Push Fee". They said I could either pay them $350 cash under the table or call Simply Moving to confirm and get charged $600-$1500. When I insisted on calling the company to confirm the fee, the movers got angry and told me: "You just F-ed yourself". The manager said the Long Push fee was only $150 and apologized to the movers, saying that because I had booked them through a third party website, they wouldn't be able to charge me more than that. The movers told me not to let this affect my tip. I went downstairs before they moved my stuff and noticed there was a parking spot close to my building, but the movers claimed they couldn't park there. When I went downstairs again after they had moved almost all my stuff and saw that they had actually moved their truck closer to my building, the movers claimed they had JUST moved the truck closer a few minutes ago. But why would they go through the trouble of moving the truck closer just so they could move one small dresser? In my opinion, they probably moved the truck closer before they moved any of my stuff, which means it wasn't a "Long Push" at all. When I called the company to complain, the movers got angry and threatened not to finish the job, claiming they had "just tried to do a favor for me as a friend". LOL ok dude but I feel sorry for your friends cause apparently you like cheating them. In Simply Moving's defense, they can't control every action of every employee that works for them and they did try to make it up to me. After I complained to the manager, Simply Moving didn't charge me a Long Push Fee, refunded me 20% of the price, and allegedly fired the guys who tried to cheat me. The moving guys who delivered my stuff 2 days later seemed ok, but TBH I was just happy nobody yelled at me. Miraculously, my stuff arrived mostly in tact, except for my mattress. The plastic cover was torn and the cloth cover was dirty, which made it look like it was dragged or dropped, which makes me wonder why I spent money on movers when I could have dragged and dropped my mattress to a rental truck all by myself. Obviously, you may have a better experience than I did with this company, but I personally won't be hiring them again. If you do hire this company, take what the movers say with a grain of salt, especially if they're trying to charge you extra. Confirm any extra fees with the moving company. Also, I would highly recommend booking them through a third party booking website that restricts the amount of extra fees that movers can charge.

This is a super frustrating review to write. I've used Simply Moving twice and the first time had no issues. It went so well that I booked them for my next move two years later. I hired them to pack and move everything from my one bedroom apartment to another apartment about 5 blocks away. This time they damaged several pieces of furniture (including a custom built, solid wood dresser that will cost $1000 to replace), broke many dishes, and generally packed things so poorly that it was almost as if the movers had never done this before. First I found a leaking box which turned out to be a half empty box of toiletries that were just thrown into a box with no packing material or organization whatsoever. Multiple containers were packed upside down and leaked all over everything inside the box. That was a fun hour of cleaning. Next I opened two nearly empty boxes. One had a single face mask wrapped in loads of packing paper - that's it. A medium sized box for a single face mask... The next box had two tiny items inside - again, loads and loads of paper but not much else. After another hour or so I started removing the items they had put on top of my dresser and noticed the enormous gouges and irreparable damage. It was clear that someone had put the dresser top down and dragged it off the edge of the truck or on the ground. We immediately emailed Simply Moving about this and were asked about the type of insurance we purchased. Meanwhile, we continue unpacking and begin to find more and more damaged items that were clearly from negligent and careless handling. Somehow I doubt I'll ever see a penny for the thousands of dollars in damage Simply Moving did to my things. But I'll certainly never hire them again.

Jose, Alex, and Johnny from Simply Moving were awesome! They helped me organize my things into my tiny storage unit that was 4x5x10'. With the 10' ceilings they were really amazing in making everything stack and fit in a safe way. I think I packed everything well enough that my fragile items will have survived, but I guess I'll only know for sure after everything's unboxed after the next move. Very pleased and their rate was very fair. They took obvious care to make sure my items didn't hit the ground hard. It was greatly appreciated. These guys are 3D Tetris pros. Would recommend!(the $280 coupon from Manhattan mini storage was ultimately the deciding factor, but I was lucky that they happened to be such talented and great guys).

If I had to describe this move in a few words, I would say "went like clockwork" I had to move my items from on Queens to Manhattan on a tight fixed budget, which I made known beforehand. They promised a 12-2PM window for pickup and arrived at 12:01PM. In less than an hour they arrived at the drop off destination. With plenty of time to spare they unloaded and moving the items into my storage unit quickly and efficiently. The entire process took less than 2 hours way under budget. I'm very happy with their professionalism and level of service. I highly recommend this firm to handle your moving needs.

THE WORST! What started out as good--the admin staff were professional, friendly and responsive (especially Carlos, the estimator), as well as offering overnight truck storage...things train-wrecked as soon as the actual moving crew came to pack up & move our 3000 sqft condo. **40 PHOTOS ATTACHED of Simply Moving's truly horrible work** So how did things go so horribly sideways? I can tell you without hesitation: tipping. From the get-go, the foreman tried to strong-arm us by stating: "I don't want my guys working for anything less than 15-20%". This was reiterated each day--packing (3/14), loading (3/14) and delivery (3/15)--and even circled by him on the signed paperwork for added emphasis to his demands. Having worked in many service-based industries thru college (waiting tables, bartending, etc.) I have always been a significant tipper--25-30% on a meal is the norm. But food service is another industry. Further, I've moved from coast to coast multiple times in my career, and have never had anyone dictate to me their tip amount. To the contrary, virtually every crew/company I've worked with (United, Bekins, NorthAmerican, etc) has been happy to be tipped, particularly at 10% per person (with double or more for the foreman). With a $6000 price tag for the move (which was literally 500 feet across the street), his absurd 15-20% demands would mean adding $1000-/+ to the already sizable price tag. So not only was he insulting and belligerent, his delusional amount was laughable. [Yet even after being insulted and dealing with intense attitude, I still tipped a total of $650 for the move] Then, we discovered the aftermath. After spending a full week trying to get to our furniture, make sense of the packing, and locate basic life essentials, we just opened the last box this past weekend--and we're even more outraged. The damage, complete lack of logic, care, packing materials and respect for us and our belongings is just stunning. And to think this crew was described this as one of their "A-teams" is mind-boggling. Fortunately we documented everything and have attached 40+ photos of damaged items, shocking displays of non-existent packing and total disregard for even the basic moving standards (i.e., labeling the boxes with the correct room or even one of its actual contents). Some specifics (also see 40+ photos attached): - Significant damage to our rare 1924 Steinway M Grand piano. The fact that the damage was so obvious to the crew (it was the very last thing they reassembled)...yet they said nothing. This comes after watching them store the piano on it's side for 36+ hours. We have a specialist coming out to view the damage and discuss options. - MOST SHOCKING: The deliberate packing & stacking of boxes in the atrium 6 feet high which COMPLETELY SEALED OFF ACCESS to not only our clothing and essentials, but our couch & 5-year old's glider chair. Even though there abundant space behind them to spread the boxes out and leave a path, the Simply Moving crew kept jamming them in tighter and higher...to the point where I was forced to crawl across tops of boxes day after day to search for every-day essentials, clothing & toiletries. - Complete failure to use packing materials (only plateware, glassware & vases got wrapped). While not everything unprotected was broken or needed repair, nearly every item was scratched, marred or dinged in some way. - Refused to keep like items together--things were simply thrown into any box with space, regardless of their origin or destination. We found kids toys, dog food and kitchen utensils all in a single box - Electronic equipment such as TVs, monitors, 27" iMac, laptops and printers were all put in boxes and then filled with other items - Expensive designer pillows were used as padding for a concrete table base - 3 designer lamp shades were crushed when stuffed in full boxes with zero packing materials - The lack of proper labeling made the move exponentially more difficult and cost us DAYS of lost time searching - EVERY wardrobe box was so overstuffed that you could not remove a single item--had to cut open boxes - Large rolling bins for oversized items were stuffed with zero packing or care--then literally dumped out on the floor We've contacted Simply Moving and expect to be be refunded significantly and have repairs made via their insurance. We also immediately reached out to our bank who are prepared to reverse charges if the matter isn't settled equitably. ------- UPDATE: Here's what the sad & shady owner of Simply Moving just emailed: "As stipulated in the contract you have signed, our insurance covers any damaged or missing items by a standard valuation of 60 cents per pound per article. Based on average weight, the exact formula brings you 200$, however as a gesture of good faith, we would like to refund you a total of $600." WOW. Could they be any sleazier? SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS, COST & LOSSES and take your business elsewhere.

Update as of 1/2020: AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING JOB! I have to say I was weary of trying them again because of the first time, but I am happy I did. This time everything was beyond professional. On time, efficient, great movers and overall stress free move. From the beginning of the inventory check it was super easy and great to communicate with. When the team arrived they were right on time and quick. Most of all careful with everything. Nothing got scratch, nothing was broken, everything perfect. The movers were all super nice and professional. Worked so hard and really did a superb job. They broke down the bed, put it together, helped with the dismounting the TVs, just did it all! Highly recommend!! - - - - - My first move with this company was great that I even referred friends. Not sure what happened in the last two years, but I have to say this is the worst crooked company I've ever worked with. Where do I start? The move was supposed to begin at 9am. The guys got there around 930 (30 min late) and started their move. We have a one bedroom apartment and we packed every single item excluding the big items like couch dresser and bed. Everything was labeled And in the living room to make it easier. By 12:00 pm they had managed to take out the couches and most furniture. They told us they need just about 30 min-1 hour to load it up and we should head to the new apartment to welcome them. 4 hours later they are no where to be found!!!! We started calling them at 1:55 pm about an hour + of their estimated arrival. They said the reason they were late was because they stopped to take a long lunch because they were tired. And no I'm not making this up. Mind you, I had Even asked and offered to buy them lunch and drinks while we were there and they declined multiple times. I'd also like to add they had two storage elevators to work with and a service entrance reserved just for them with the truck parked directly outside of it.. so 4 hour delay?? The best part is we csll the company and they are telling us they won't finish the job unless we decide to give an additional $400.00+ dollars because the movers were late to another job!! Completely crooked!! We fight with dispatcher, fight with the movers, and at 4:45 pm they show up at the new apartment, which was only 25 min driving distance. Uws to Fidi. When they get there, they send one guy up who says again, they took a long lunch and long break and apologize for being late and will get started at 5 again. At this point we are furious and decided to just start moving the stuff ourselves. They were coming up with one box or literally one lamp in hand at a time! Such a waste. Such an unprofessional experience. I'd also like to add that the same company was commissioned to my friend we referred them too and he had a similar experience the same exact day before! Late two hours, holding furniture until they offered more. Disgusted. I respect that this job is labor intensive and not easy, but we did our part, paid in full, and they did not do their part at all. Don't use

I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. These guys provide excellent customer service and I was very impressed by them.

I try to open the door but it's locked. about five minutes still nobody I called the call center at (929) 547-9621, " they do not have a physical person that works at this location and that the key is inside the storage unit" I thought OK well I guess that's possible. But when I went to the storage unit and I attempted to open it, it didn't open it was locked. So I called the 929 number listed above again Spoke to a different person, The second person I spoke to Stated " They're probably walking or helping somebody into their new unit, And asked if I could give 5-10 Minutes" I gave 11 Person still not there. So I called the 929 number a 3rd time This time I expressed my frustration again and the lady on the phone Stated " There is one person for multiple facilities nearby. There was an emergency at another facility." It sounded like she was gonna ask me to just wait and be patient, but I cut her off and stated " That's not my problem, I want my money back. I have to return the van by 10 AM it's 926 " She said that she will put a request in for the cancellation While driving back home to drop off everything that was supposed to go into the storage unit A gentleman from this location called me and gave me a different excuse, He stated "Hi John, you requested a cancellation" I said yes he then stated "why" and I expressed my frustration again. Then he stated "Well, you need to understand sir. There is more than 100 units and I have to check every single one of them so you need to understand that" giving me an attitude. I said "then there should be two people working in that office not one, and that is not my problem that you have to go check everything". He then stated " Well what do you want me to do?" "To process my cancellation & my return like the Request says" I said. "Fine" he's said. I said "Thank you. You have a good day" right before I was able to hang up he said. "Fuck You" That's when I called the 929 number again unfortunately they don't have supervisors but they said that I should be receiving a call from upper management still waiting. This person that was on the phone was helpful, but she kept saying things like but sir, you need to understand no no that's not my problem. That's your problem going back-and-forth. I understand she wasn't the one that cursed at me, but she is guilty by association. Four different excuses, Rude employees disrespectful employees. If I could give zero stars, (wish I can give negative stars), I would
