It's a diner...No fancy service. It's also quite small inside, maybe 4 tables total. On Sunday, we walked in and the first thing we were told was that it would be a 25-35 minute wait in anything lol. It seems like regulars know to order for pickup so they aren't waiting impatiently. The one highlight is they have a wide variety of breakfast meat options including different vegan options. The French toast, eggs, and turkey bacon were pretty solid - I cannot lie. However, those grits? Chile. They were swimming in butter and somehow they still weren't smooth and they did not have any salt or pepper. What's strange is that everything else including the French toast was salted. Simply stated, Simply Marie's is simply OK. I'll begin with the highs; the waffles and the pancakes were the undeniable stars of our meal. Fresh, homemade, fluffy, sweet, and served with butter and powdered sugar on top. This was my first experience enjoying chicken and waffles where wings and not breast meat was used. While different, it was good and juicy! Now, the lows: the coffee was terrible. It seemed watery, maybe instant was used? Also, all of the tableware is disposable. The plates, silverware, even the trays. Not only does providing single use tableware feel wasteful and overly consuming, but it also takes away from the environment of the establishment. I found this place while on the search for a breakfast sandwich and I'm glad I did. Mrs Marie was nice and the food was great. The inside is a 30 min limit to eat at the table once you receive your food due to the space. The wait wasn't too long for my order. I have lived down the street from simply Marie's for 5 years and had it probably 100 times - for a reason - It's fire. You can order online using the pickup feature on DoorDash. I called in my order and the guy on the phone was very helpful explaining the different options. We decided to split the "Flexxilicious" with home fries and the French toast with turkey sausage. He told me my order would be ready in 25 minutes and by the time I pulled up, it was already in a bag ready to go! We wanted something delicious but low-key since we were dealing with impending hangovers. And, boy, did this place DELIVER! Very unassuming inside. Do not let this deter you! I was also given the option of like 5 or 6 different types of tortillas for my quesadilla--nice touch. And those breakfast potatoes... here's the thing, I usually prefer my breakfast potatoes to be crispy. So I saw these and I was a little sus...not gonna lie. But OMG are these the best seasoned breakfast potatoes I think I've ever had in my life. And the PORTION SIZE...woah. I ate 1/3 of the quesadilla and a few bites of the potatoes. Make sure you're coming in HUNGRY. I'm pretty sure this will feed me for 3 meals. My bf got the French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. I asked him for his assessment and he said, "It was all amazing. I don't have time to think of a witty review." Thank goodness he has me. Anyway, my bf was deciding between the pancakes and french toast...the guy working said the french toast was the way to go. I didn't try it but my bf was absolutely raving about how delicious they were. I did try the bacon though and that was perfectly crispy. I noticed that they also have sausage gravy and biscuits. What a pleasant tiny shop! With a few tables outside, we were able to enjoy a wonderful brunch outside. The food was solid: the chicken and waffle had extra crispy chicken that was probably the best I've had in Baltimore so far . The waffle was soft and effectively melts in your mouth. Unfortunately it takes 25 mins for this. And it definitely is worth it if you have the time The shrimp and crab omelette was the top contender in our brunch. It quickly disappeared and they provided a healthy amount of shrimp and crab. It comes with some toast and we upgraded to include biscuit and gravy. The biscuit was not as soft as I would have preferred yet still delicious when adding the sausage gravy (talk about good for your soul). Finally the corned beef hash - honestly I can't review this fairly since I'm not a fan of corned beef in general. The home fries are their potatoes which were a great and well seasoned. This has to the best no-nonsense breakfast spot around. We're lucky to live a few blocks away and love to treat ourselves some weekends. They are fluffy, moist, and very cake-like. Beware, they are filling. Unless you really can put food away, you will have one leftover. As a bacon lover, I am sad. I am sad to write this review. I had such high hopes before coming here. I searched for a restaurant that served downhome breakfast and found Simply Marie's. Came here and ordered a typical breakfast, nothing fancy but food was less than subpar. The potatoes were cooked unevenly and for overall was just . . . . good I would get from a relatives house who is known for not being able to cook; best I can describe. There is room for so much easy improvement. They did have a case with muffins and quick grabs that looked good but I didn't try them. I don't think I'll be back because frankly it was worse than what I can make myself. If I'm paying for food, it should at least be as good as mine but of course I want better. It's hard to mess up something as easy as breakfast, but apparently you can. read more

Yelp saved me from an argument today! My boyfriend and I were growing increasingly irritable over the conversation of where to eat breakfast. A quick local breakfast place search is how we stumbled upon Simply Marie's. This Canton staple is nestled in the fall foliage with a small crowd of regulars and large flavorful smells wafting from the kitchen. They had outdoor chairs to sit small parties of 2-4. No indoor seating right now due to COVID, but today was so nice it was the perfect time to sit outside. I ordered a bacon omelette off the menu and customized it with onions and green peppers. Each omelette comes with the choice of breakfast potatoes or grits and toast. I opted out of the toast and got both grits and breakfast potatoes because I wanted to eat my anger from the ride there. Don't judge haha. Bae had the MYO Omelette with spinach, mushrooms, pepper jack cheese and onions. We also got two orders of smoked sausage. Everything came out super hot and fresh without a long wait! This was a shock to me because they were fairly busy when we got there. We were so hungry we ate in the car and the pictures have a few bites missing. The platters were large and turned into breakfast and late breakfast. Simply Marie's is a simple restaurant. There are literally two tables indoors, four or five stools along the counter and maybe some outdoor seating. The place is small. Don't let that fool you though, because the food is awesome. Marie will open the door when you ring the bell, she will take your order, and she will cook your food. It is southern cooking at its best. The place is tiny and I don't think it gets a lot of traffic, so some of the ingredients might be canned, but they are made with care and confidence. This Canton neigborhood breakfast joint is tucked in a residential area. It was a quiet early Sunday morning when we came, another table was occupied by a local family with two children. The restaurant is clean, the customer service from a gentleman cashier was cold and uninterested, he wasn't very happy to see us. We ignored the lack of enthusiasm and proceeded to order. We decided to try the chicken & waffles and hot chocolate. For a small mom and pop type restaurant, their menu is large and the prices are quite expensive. Chicken & waffles is priced at $16!! We were informed by the gentleman that it will take 20 minutes, but we were not in a rush so it was no problem. Food came hot, the chicken was AMAZING! Very tasty, crispy and not salty!! I didn't care for the waffle. It was bland. That was sad, because I only enjoyed half of my meal. I didn't expect anything from my hot chocolate, so no surprise there. Simply Marie's is like a little hug on the corner. The food warms your soul and fills your belly. As someone who briefly lived in the south, I'm particular about my biscuits and these are the best biscuits I've found in Baltimore. (Usually like to get one a La carte to have for later) We've eaten a few breakfasts here and my bf loves the breakfast burrito and I've loved everything I've gotten, but the pancakes were most memorable. I still talk about these pancakes and how they are phenomenal fluffy tower of goodness and carbohydrates. They are spot on texture wise and I enjoyed the bacon on the side as a compliment. My belly always has leftovers with the meals so we get to go, but there are a couple of bistro seats. The owner is a peach, she greeted my bf and I one morning and was a dear to talk to.
