Great food! Good service! "Ambiance" is closer to a cross between a soup kitchen and a homeless shelter, but that's not what I'm looking for in a good, take-out place. If I were the owners, I'd close the "dining" section and install a buzzer to let guests that have ordered something hang out while they're waiting. But yeah, I ordered the basics, I like the orange chicken, has a clean spice with the fresh orange really kicking in the flavor. Kung pao was also kicking, spicy, but not oily with the vegetables well cooked, and the peanuts give a nice balance. I liked the Lo Mein, it wasn't greasy like other places, and also, well cooked on the veggies. All in all, I think it's a great place and will definitely get food here again! If I could give zero Stars I would. I ordered Szechuan chicken and it's listed as spicy. When my food arrived and it took a bite of it it was inedible it was so spicy. Call the restaurant to see if they would be willing to change the order. The lady Express to me the people have been complaining that it wasn't spicy enough so they have really increase the spice. I said now it's too hot is too hot for me. She said sorry is a takeout order nothing we can do. So I told her I wouldn't be ordering from there anymore and I wont. I've been to Simon's Wok & Grill several times in the years since the old Wings n Things closed. The food was usually very subpar, so my family and I stopped eating here all together. I was super hungry some weeks back and decided to take another chance on it. I ordered the 6" Steak and Cheese, Crispy Beef and Crab Rangoons. I figured if I didn't like the Crispy Beef (like in the past), I'd have something else to fall back on. I don't know what's changed here, but the Crispy Beef was very, very good! I'm not typically a fan of DC Chinese carryouts as I prefer to get Chinese food from Chinese restaurants. The Steak and Cheese was pretty good but I would switch the American Cheese out for something else. Take out or delivery only. Food is cooked fresh to order and you can even watch it being cooked. This was the worst Chinese food I've had, it was also very expensive for the quality. Had the fried wonton that was soggy, tasteless, and not eatable. Their Mo Po tofu was very yummy. Better than expected. Not so for the steamed meat dumpling but can't win them all. The dumpling skins are very thick dough and the meat mixture was ok but would prefer chives or something in it too for flavor. Also it may have pork so you might want to ask if that's not your thing or you keep kosher. read more

When I got checked my phone at 6pm there were 3 missed calls from #s I didn't recognize so I called the last one back. It was Simon's saying they had tried to deliver my food. I reminded them that I has asked for a 7pm delivery and that my phone logged their first attempt at 5:15!! They were fantastic about the mixup. I've been getting food from this specific place since I was a little girl. In fact, this was the first place I ever got Chinese food from. Needless to say, this place was my childhood, the owners are even on friendly terms with my old nanny (who always ordered the food for us). Anyway on the review.... This place has consistently delivered yummy American-Chinese food to my house for years. The menu has remained basically unchanged my entire life and I feel that because of that they've really perfected everything they make. My orders have only been wrong twice in my ordering history with them, and they weren't even my orders, they were my parents haha. The chicken wings are always hot and crispy, the dumplings are big and although the 'fried' ones don't look or feel fried, they do have a different taste than the steamed ones. The eggrolls are and have always been my favorite thing about this place. They are big, fat, greasy, and crispy. It may be because I grew up with them like this, but this is how I prefer eggrolls anyway so I'm always hesitant to order from other places because of this. What I'm trying to say is this place is extremely consistent (take it from someone whose been eating from here for literally years). Inedible! I ordered from this place because of my niece's rave review. The crispy Szechuan chicken was so hot I couldn't eat it. Even my niece, a connoisseur of all things hot and spicy, found it hotter than usual. We called to complain and were told that they "changed their recipe". At more than $13 for this inedible dish I think they should have given me a refund or at the very least a few bucks off my next order. Maybe a container of milk or a few Rolaid's. Blergh after two years of being regulars to the point where they say "Oh hi!" when I give them my address... Simons has fallen. Hard, fast and far. First they stopped with their freebies, which is fine, but when they cut back on the amount of meat in nearly every dish, leaving me poking thru my veggies for even a tiny morsel... that's when I knew things were taking a turn for the worst. We have ordered Simons for delivery 4 times. The lo mein noodles are the best! And the sesame chicken combo is great, too! Delivery is always fast. I order from Simon's all the time. Especially, on the weekend. Nobody wants to cook on the weekend, In a hot kitchen in northwest DC. So to make a long story short, Simon has good food. I love their wings. You actually get a whole chicken wing. I figured well if I l buy the chicken wings and cook them myself, hell, I would end up having to pay double or triple for some raw wings, then the grease and flour, which is not cheaper than buying the BEST DARN CHICKEN WINGS from Simon. AWFUL! I will never eat here again. For starters, I ordered from them because I wanted Peking Ravioli. It was the WORST Ravioli EVER! The Ravioli look like they stuck it in the fryer on one side and the rest was soggy. The meat inside was bulky and disgusting, looked like poo. Then, the Shrimp Lomein was burnt, shrimp was mushy and I could smell the burnt smell in my noodles. Can you believe they still served it to me anyway? The Sweet and Sour Chicken was overcooked, hard. We also ordered Shrimp Fried rice and it was the disgusting short grain, yellow rice which was old, and mushy, even the shrimp was mushy... awful experience. I let the Supervisor know and she didn't even offer to give me some of my money back. She was nice, but I cannot BELIEVE they would feed that to people.. I have been to the worst environments in D.C, to the most poverty stricken areas, where people might assume the food would be awfully served, but not at all true... those Chinese places are a ZIILLION times better than this joint. The presentation was not good either. I had to call a second time and make it clear that we didn't eat the Ravioli and she should give us that back AT LEAST, which she did. Then she told me I could come back in any day of the week with my receipt and get something else... no way! What she should have done was given me a complete refund or at least half. I will never eat there again. A waste of my $60.00. I was hurt that I was treated so badly and usually I am pretty flexible about things.
