When you first walk in, it seems like it'll be a laid-back brunch, but don't let that fool you. The service was incredibly fast, and the food came out quickly. Everything I tried was delicious! My favorite was a breakfast sandwich served over a hash with an incredible sauce--I was thinking about it long after I left. We also shared an appetizer that was so good we couldn't stop going back for another bite. Just when I thought the great food was the highlight, the entertainment started. The host did an amazing job keeping the entire crowd engaged, the music had everyone singing along, and before I knew it, the whole restaurant had turned into a party. The belly dancer was absolutely mesmerizing and interacted with the crowd so effortlessly, making the experience feel even more special. Between the food, drinks, entertainment, and atmosphere, time flew by. What I thought would be a simple birthday brunch turned into an unforgettable celebration. I'll definitely be back for another brunch--and next time I'll be ready to dance!

I used to work around this area and was familiar with this establishment in its last iteration as a breakfast, all day spot. Late last year, I think it was they rebranded in a McDowell's sort of way and honestly, I wish they would embrace that a little more. I ordered the same thing I would get at Roaming Rooster, the Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich except here, I asked that no mayo nor tomato be added. Here they come with it, a marked difference. Then I sat back, no, I stood back and observed the goings-on. First I questioned why they sell tacos. Not to anywhere there, just to myself. Why not a Big Mick[sic]? Coming 2 America is coming soon. Right after that a gentleman came in and ordered tacos and coffee. :-/ Then I thought about how good the Ethiopian food could be here. I would be down to try it, way before I'd buy a taco here but then again I thought, why not go the Mélange route and have Ethiopian spiced chicken sandwiches. Yes I was doing a lot of thinking because I was waiting for a long time. I'd taken my John Mercer Langston picture and thought about menu changes I'd make if I were like Marcus Lemonis, investing nothing but sharing my i.p. for free like this review. The sandwich was actually, surprisingly good. A little on the oily side but much better than I thought and not at all shaped or packaged like Roaming Rooster, a different bird indeed. It's also filling so I would skip the fries because I'm sure they aren't as good as Wings across the street so get a taco if you wish.

I asked for her recommendations on the menu and to my surprise she suggested the Chopped Cheese. I definitely wanted to try to burger but always heard about Chopped Cheeae from New York. I took her up on her suggestion and had a seat inside. There are about 10 tables, some big and some small. I can tell this place will be jumping when the weather gets nice as there is a coffee shop and a hot chicken spot inside this Halal food hall. There are also windows that open with better weather. The food was made to order. Freshness off the grill. The French fries were piping hot. The Chopped cheese was quite filling. The bread is super soft and delicious. The wagyu meat is delicious as well. I could really taste the flavor along with the cheese mixed in. The sauce adds a quality taste as well. I'll without a doubt be back as there is more I'd like to try from the menu.

Tall chick with a British accent, super sweet. The atmosphere was great. I sat in the hall and enjoyed my meal. 10/10 would definitely go again

That is really cool--and great for people who don't drink much, like me! There's also a quite large menu of mocktails, which look very intriguing, but tonight I opted for a lassi drink because I needed to get some nutrients in after a very sweaty hot yoga workout... I tried the following: - Mango lassi - thick, sweet, and very refreshing after a sweaty workout! It was my first time to try a lassi, and I thought it was great. The texture was very thick and creamy and smooth, and you can definitely taste the mango. - Veggie samosa - texture was perfect, very crispy. The sauces were outstanding and very flavorful. Possibly the best veggie samosas I've had! - Butter chicken - not the best butter chicken I've had but still a solid dish. The sauce seemed to be less creamy and less sweet than other places, yet a bit more flavorful. My partner was a bit disappointed in this dish, but I still thought it was good (I'm more about flavors, while my partner is more about creaminess). I did find the chicken meat to be a tad dry though. - Lamb & spinach - lamb meat was excellent and very tender. While the butter chicken (see above) might've been a bit dry, this lamb was cooked perfectly. And it was packed with tonsssss of flavors. - Garlic naan - texture was not as thick/soft as I would've liked, but the flavor was veryyyy garlicky, which I liked. Heads-up: It takes a while for the food to get ready. The place seems to make everything from scratch. So, order some appetizers if you're hungry while you wait for the main dishes!

Even the vegetarians in our group were raving about the food. The portions are HUGE, so definitely plan to share. I also loved the fresh sabzi served with pita--it was such a simple but delicious addition. The mocktails were excellent as well and paired beautifully with the food. Service was outstanding. We were a large group, and the team took excellent care of us with quick, attentive, and friendly service throughout. The ambience is fantastic, with a rustic, warm vibe that makes the restaurant feel both lively and inviting. Between the incredible food, generous portions, and excellent service, Rumi's Kitchen is an easy recommendation and a place I'd happily return to.

A recent visit to DC with some dear friends provided the perfect opportunity to check out their branch here and assess how it compares to the original. Happily, I found the food here essentially equivalent to what I sampled at the Atlanta locations, that is, excellent. We started with the sabzi and bread service, which pairs Rumi's excellent and freshly baked Persian style naan with fresh herbs and feta cheese, which makes for a light and refreshing start to the meal. Our appetizers comprised the lamb hummus, the fatoush salad, kashk-bademjan eggplant dip, and the duo of yogurts. All were great, with the classic, creamy eggplant and the tangy, cooling yogurt duo standing out for me personally. We ordered three entrees, including the lamb kebab, beef soltani combination, and the duck fesenjan stew. All the kebabs possessed a juicy texture, great seasoning, and had an excellent cook. The duck had a tangy sweet flavor profile that may not be for everyone but was nonetheless satisfying with rice. Speaking of the rices, the fluffy grains complimented all of our dishes well and we particularly enjoyed the dill-fava bean as well as the lentil-raisin renditions. Do note that portions here are generous, and splitting entrees is suggested especially if you opt for a decent number of appetizers as we did. Special mention should be made of the cocktails at Rumi's. While I personally did not have a mixed drink, my friends all raved about the flavor profiles of their libations and found them refreshing and balanced relative to others we had in the city. Service here meets the high standard I experienced at the Atlanta locations, and our waitress was helpful and attentive. The space itself is bright and strikes a great balance between rustic Persian accents and more modern, swanky touches. Overall, Rumi's offers a well rounded Persian dining experience with great food, drinks, service, and ambiance which is hard to beat. It's well worth a visit for any fan of Middle Eastern flavors, and my wife and I are already planning our next meal here.
