Yelp reviews brought me here for lunch today. I wasn't in the loop on papusas, but I am now. I went for the pork because that's what seemed to be the consensus. They were tasty, sprinkled with salsa versa (i think there are four salsa choices). It's a stuffed homemade tortilla, for lack of a better description. Love the concept. Two of them were cooked perfectly, seemingly creamy inside. I don't think the third one got as much grill time, the insides weren't cooked through. My partner tried the carne asada and adobado taco and a pork papusa. He gave them a less than enthusiastic review, readily admitting he's a Tex-Mex fan at heart. I tried the adobado and thought it was pretty tasty. Everything tasted very fresh. Nicest of staff. Helpful in translating a menu that for the linguistically challenge/ignorant. Convenient, plenty of parking and the place is clean and freshly decorated. Order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. Margarita menu that looked great, I did not partake (it was lunch). I would go there again when I'm in the neighborhood, but i'm not going to seek them out. read more

All our other local haunts were packed with tourists, so we yelped for something close and found this place!!!! Best fish tacos I've enjoyed, including Mexico. Fresh grilled fish (no deep fried battered crap) with all the fixings including fresh slices of avocado all rolled in a hand made corn tortilla! My new favorite Mexican cuisine in Bend!! The tortillas were homemade, pupusas and quesadilla were excellent and authentic. The margaritas weren't made with mix and were excellent! This is a nice little hole in the wall family place. Authentic tacos burritos and a new thing to me a Papoosa... Which I'm sure I'm spelling wrong but it was very tasty. Tiny little location so if you get there a lunch plan on taking it outside or to go. Most items on the menu were between three and four dollars so very affordable. Would not suggest bringing a large group here as they would likely not be able to accommodate. read more

It's esta bien! The restaurant lives up to its name! Fast service and friendly staff. The food is flavorful- I usually get chicken tacos with rice and have never been disappointed! This is my go-to place where I can take Mexican food! You can also get pupusas which or delicious and authentic. I absolutely love their adobada tacos but have been a vegetarian for almost a year. Now I take my friends there so they can try them out and I get vegetarian burritos or nachos. It is still the best place around and I love it! read more

Its hard to find some good pupusas but esta bien kill it they have some good fresh pupusas i strongly recommend this places the tacos are awesome with hand made tortillas and fresh ingredients a really good traditional taste of mexico and el salvador (Post data) i love the sound sistem!!! I had the fish tacos, I try to have fish tacos at as many places possible. Since I have had fish tacos at several different places I can safely say these were great! Still not the best I have had in Bend but for sure in the top three. They didn't over do it with weird slaws or crazy sauces. Just fish, amazing tortilla and some pico and cilantro. Topped off my meal with a coke in a glass bottle making the whole experience very no frills just delicious. Loved every bite. read more

Tacos that taste just like the street tacos in LA! They're not as cheap, but I love coming to this place. I go every time I'm in Bend.

Best taco and pupusa spot in Bend, hands down.. Not a fancy place, but the food is so worth it.. And believe me, I am a taco lover and I'm a hard taco lover to be impressed and I was impressed way more what I was expecting, delicious adobada, lengua , azada and the carnitas to die for, then I return and saw carnes en su jugo, oh men, I'm from the state of Jalisco and that's exactly where they come from and when I had them, they give me a quick trip to Mexico . This is a stereotypical hole in the wall restaurant where you place your order at the counter and wait for the food to be delivered. We checked it our after it had been given a favorable review in the dining out column in the local newspaper. Our enchiladas were accompanied by the ubiquitous rice and beans, all of which were okay but somewhat on the small side in terms of portion. And our fish tacos were good, albeit messy to eat. The person taking our order, who was very friendly and helpful, recommended guacamole and tortilla chips for a starter; the guacamole was very good but the home-made chips were very greasy - we opted to not eat very many since in addition to being laden with grease, they also weren't very good. Pupusas are the specialty at Esta Bien, but we didn't try them. Maybe we would have come away more impressed if we had stuck with their specialty. read more

Maybe I'm being harsh because I'm Salvadorian and grew up eating pupusas, but these were the most disappointing pupusas I've ever had. We went in for take out and ordered 4 pupusas and a chicken burrito. The burrito had no flavor it was also disappointing. But let's get down to the pupusas when we got home there were two in each plate. I tried to separate them and they were so stuck together they were falling apart. They weren't at all crisp on the outside they were soggy. The flavor wasn't bad but the execution was terrible. Growing up we wouldn't always make them at home and many times we ordered take out at various Salvadorian restaurants I've never seen pupusas stuck to each other the way these were. I feel like they aren't made fresh maybe made earlier and then reheated to go? All in all a disappointment because I read all these great reviews about it. read more

Tried rice, beans, tamale and a taco. The carnitas taco had great flavor and tons of meat. That's where the good part ended. The tamale had super bland masa and that's usually my favorite part so I was very disappointed. The rice looked really good but had no flavor. The refried beans were a little watery and yet again bland. Overall I was disappointed. But, I saw lots of people enjoying margaritas and tacos so maybe just get that! read more

It's fast authentic and super fresh. Always busy with a great caual atmosphere. Love the tacos and the tamarindo margarita is bomb. It's the only place I know of in town for Papusas. They are good and you know it's fresh when you can see them making your tortillas. Love it we will be back. read more

Went in for dinner 1/31/15. While looking at the menu board to see what to order, the cook was in the back of the kitchen talking to another guy (not sure if he was an employee), picking meat off the beef tongue that was sitting on the cutting board. Hmmm. So finally ordered: the wife got the carne asada plate special (rice & beans & guac) and I the chile relleno special with a beer and jamaica marg. After we paid, the cook comes out and says the chile relleno special was sold out. So I ordered a chicken and pork pupusa and a tongue taco (yeah, I know). When the food arrived, my wife's food was colder than lukewarm. The corn tortillas were already firming up. I asked the cook to please reheat and came back a few minutes later only slightly warmer than before. My taco was excellent. The meat flavorful and tender. I wish I could say the same about the pupusas. First, they are EXTREMELY thin and the filling sparse. Second, my chicken pupusa was fairly burnt on one side giving it more of a charred flavor. Didn't want to return anything else so I cut around it. The curtido was ok but somewhat bland. The wife couldn't eat the remaining half because it was so cold so we plated it up to go so she could reheat it and eat it a home. Third, they have NO bathroom. When asked where the bathroom was, we were directed to go to 3rd St Pub next door. My wife was told she had to go out the front, back around the restaurant, through an alley and through 3rd St's BACK door. It was COLD and INCONVENIENT. Not to let the experience damper the mood, we ordered a couple shots of Don Julio. TASTY. Pretty good tequila selection. So disappointed. By the way, the chile relleno special was still up on the chalkboard when we left. read more

By far, hands down, the best burrito in Bend. I had the carne asada burrito and found myself in authentic Mexican food heaven. Everything was fresh. There was plenty of meat which was tender and tasty--not rubbery like at some other local all places--and the onions and cilantro were perfecto. The burrito also came with beans (tasty), rice, and lettuce (I can't remember the last time I got lettuce in a smallish Mexican food joint). For 8 bucks it was a big as my son's head. The tortilla was just right too, neither dry or spongy. My wife had the grilled chicken taco with rice and beans on the side. She raved about the freshness and flavor. We sat out back on the private patio and felt like we were in an ethnic neighborhood...a cool, fun vibe for Central Oregon. The service was VERY friendly and welcoming...a worker saw my wife get up to grab utensils and insisted with a smile he get them for her. It's so nice to have a place to get cheap Mexican eats that makes stuff by hand and doesn't taste like it's been sitting around for a while. We can't wait to go back and sample the margaritas. read more

Pupusa in Bend - yeah! I love this place. I felt transported back to East LA. They even have a funky outdoor seating area. Everything I have had here has been yummy. Pupusa, tacos, burritos, rice and beans are tasty. Fish tacos were grilled pieces of fish with fresh avocado and cilantro. Healthy and delicious. Margaritas were strong and affordable. Very kid friendly. I definitely recommend. It's great because you can order a full plato, or just a couple of tacos and some chips and guacamole with a beer. I highly recommend this place. My only disappointment was the slaw on the pupusa. I am used to a more vinegary slaw and this is more bland. read more

Growing up in San Diego, I was spoiled by the 1 hour drive onto Mexico and the wonderful food, especially the taco stands. Who knew we'd end up with one of the best right here in Bend. Everything is handmade right in front of you, including the best corn tortillas, just like in Mexico. Even the owner of Hola's Mexican restaurant came in for lunch while we were there! Fish tacos were superb, and not battered fat American style. Carnitas are fantastic (we watched four guys order a third helping) and Asada was seasoned just right. Asombroso! read more

So I've recently moved to bend from San Jose California. I've been on the hunt for something that resembles a breal taqueria but to no avail until today. I had tacos and pupusas, then the pupusas were better than the pupusasria back in San Jose. Moist and delicious full of flavor the carnitas melted in your mouth. I can honestly say this will be the only talking to you I will visit in bed from this day forward. Oh and the house margaritas are delicious as well. If you have it then you have to get in here and try this place for you can eat a bunch of white people Mexican food because it's always an option as well. read more
