Stopped in for a quick lunch on a Sunday. The person in front of us ordered and as they walked off, the cashier also walked off without saying anything. It was a min or two before another employee came to the desk, where she immediately answered a phone call without saying anything to us. After the call, she took our order. The food came out pretty quickly and looked decent. Unfortunately, the flavor did not deliver. I had the Achiote chicken taco and a carne asada taco. The achiote chicken didn't have a ton of flavor (which made me what their regular chicken would taste like). We make achiote chicken at home regularly and the achiote chicken burrito at DG is one of my favs. The carne asada also seemed to be lacking seasoning. On top of that, the pieces of steak were very small and crisply, almost more like bacon bits than small slices of steak. There was also waaaay too much pico and guac on the taco. The flavor of carne asada was almost completely lost. The lettuce on the achiote chicken was a little too abundant also. I would tell you about my wife's chicken rolled tacos, but they gave her beef tacos! I tried the salsa verde and ranchera salsas. They were both pretty good. At almost $4/taco, there are many places I would choose before this spot unfortunately. read more

We ended up here after trying to get a table at cascade brewing. So glad we did. Axel's has a great selection of salsas along with pickled vegetables. Chilled bowls of sliced limes cucumber and radish. Chips are hot and fresh. I had chile relleno platter. The relleno was hot cheesy full of flavor. Rice and beans were yummy. I'm not sure why this place got such bad reviews. I wonder if they're made up? This is one of the best places to eat in Bend. Food arrived fast and staff was friendly and efficient. read more

Im updating my review.. we have come here countless times and they tend to get the grilled chicken wrong and replace it with achiote chicken. One time, the lady told me it was grilled chicken. I explained to her we come here almost once a week and I know its not. Overall, food is decent to good. But today, I tried the flautas with beef and they might as well call it vegetarian because they were only a few strands of beef..mostly bell pepper, tomato and onion! For the price, and if I'd known, I would have ordered carne asada tacos (for more beef). Image below. Also, sometimes the grilled chicken which is my usual order is overly salty lately and depending who makes the burrito, it can be smaller. Overall, I probably will come here less. Price though is reasonable which is great. read more

Axel's Taco Shop - Supposed to be a beef flauta. It's nearly all veggies. :( - Tacos Near Me - Bend, Oregon

Fast- casual Mexican restaurant recently opened in the Reed Market Rd commercial center, same one as Cascade Lakes pub and Great Greek Mediterranean. - Extensive menu, not just tacos - Nice space if you want to eat in. Several comfortable booths and tables (all accessible for mobility challenged folks) - Great salsa bar with a few other items. Really like the onion & peppers. - Very reasonable prices. - No alcohol. - Shredded beef burrito was outstanding. Decent size and well-prepared. - Open early, closes late, every day. A fine addition to the area. And a good option for eats to take over to the pub while you quaff an ale or two. Note that as of this review, they don't have an exterior sign. They are located directly across the parking lot from the pub's front door. read more

Axel's Taco Shop - Hours (the '12' means midnight not noon) - Tacos Near Me - Bend, Oregon

I had a carnitas taco which was good but more expensive than other taco shops. Service was not friendly.

Second time at axels, got there half an hour before closing and wanted something easy n tasty before heading home. Got chile verde plate with rice and beans 18$ saw it on the menu for 14$ but I guess since I asked for rice n beans it bumped it up a lil. But oh my goodness the amount of food that came with it is ridiculous. Enough for dinner til lunch the next day. Tasty too read more

I've been to this place a few times and also ordered delivery several times. Overall, the food is good and definitely worth trying. I really love their TJ tacos and their carnitas--they're both delicious! It's not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it's solid and satisfies the craving. If you're looking for tasty tacos and good flavors, give them a try! read more

Tried this place out the other day. We had a Bandido burrito and an Axels burrito. The was our favorite, but the meat was a little over done. Axel's burrito had chicken that was seasoned really well and juicy, couldn't figure out where the fried cheese was though. We also got a side of the beans and rice, they were okay, but won't be getting them again. They had a really nice salsa bar, but I wasn't that impressed with the flavors, habanero was hot, but not great flavor and the hot sauce was not hot but had okay flavor. Probably the best was the salsa verde, but still not great flavor. The place was very clean and everyone that helped us was very friendly. I definitely would like to come and try something else later on. read more

They used to be on their game.... Not so much anymore. Got my order wrong 3 times in a row. The salad was 50% water. Mess up my order twice, can't mess up my order again. read more

I really like axels a lot but darn it tonight I decided to try something new and I got a torta and it was just soooooo messy and I also found a piece of an aluminum cleaning sponge in my food ugh why axels why?! Axel's Taco Shop - Carne Asada Burrito, pickled carrots, and an awesome salsa bar! Beautiful day to eat outside. - Tacos Near Me - Bend, Oregon

The food and service is great! Generous portions at a good price. The carnitas tacos as well as the crunchy beef tacos are where it's at.

Oh my gosh! The salsa bar, roasted carrots, grilled onion and jalapeño were so yummy. I had a $12.50 chicken taco salad. Huge portion of chicken! The shell was slightly over fried but I don't eat it anyways. Surprisingly no beans. Next time I'll sub them for the rice. Hubs had a carne asada monster burrito. Meat was braised then crisped up a bit. Absolutely delicious. Total for 2 = $25.50. They also had a drive through. read more

I originally made a good review of this place on google and became a regular since it's the closest place for Mexican food that is decent for me. However, after a few months I have realized this place is a hit or miss. Depending on the time of day you go at I noticed that the quality of food is better in the daytime. At night I recently been getting overcooked items. I've had rolled tacos with burnt ends and over fried fish tacos. I honestly couldn't even tell if the hot sauce or the tacos I had last night tasted like cleaning supplies as well. Doesn't help that I even saw a recent low score review in regards to cleanliness. Not sure if I'll be coming back anytime soon. read more

Amazing service, and big menu to choose from. Absolutely authentic! I got four asada tacos and I could only finish 2 and half. They give you huge portions. The asada was extremely flavorful. They have a big salsa bar with many different salsas to choose from. They also provide grilled onions, Jalapeños, etc. The ambiance was very warm and welcoming with a modern flare to it. 10/10! read more

Avoid!!! I have given this place quite a few chances and have been unhappy every time. I eat a lot of Mexican food and believe there are plenty of other better places in town. Very inconsistent!! This is a King Burrito. So tiny and dry. The food cannot be trusted here unfortunately. There is a reason why this place has a low rating. Picture is of burrito with small fork on top. Pathetic. read more

Great food, great service! Late drive thru! Amazing to have in the east side! Great salsas! Would recommend to everyone

If you are looking for good tacos or just good Mexican food in general this is the place. Their service is awesome.

Went to try the breakfast burritos and it was disappointing! My partner and I couldn't no eat then (two different types both horrible) . Waste of money. I tried other lunch items and have been disappointed each time. read more

Food is good but much more expensive than the Redmond location. 12 rolled tacos in Redmond is $10 and it's $14 here. The burritos are more expensive as well. read more

The worst chimichanga I've ever had in my life. There was maybe an ounce of shredded beef in the entire meal, virtually impossible to see, and what meat was there was flavorless. I had hope as there were fajita like peppers also inside, those were also flavorless. Pico- flavorless. Pretty much an empty very thick fried tortilla is all this is read more

Pros: They have a few good items on the menu. Cons: Okay, here we go... 1. Most the food is bland. I sometimes wonder if they season their food at all. 2. The customer service is horrendous at times. There's a 50/50 chance they'll act like you don't exist when you go. 3. They cannot run a drive-thru. I spent fifteen minutes waiting at the window and when someone finally showed up, they tried to give me another customer's order. 4. They've charged me before, then sent someone else to the window who tried to charge me again. I have to tell them I've already paid. 5. The entire kitchen staff look like they're stoned out of their minds. Bloodshot eyes, lagging speech (not the kind that stems from language barriers, but from drug use) and forgetting what I ordered between the speaker and the window. Overall, this place is sad, because I see the potential here and I've gotten good food from them, but the service is a complete and total mess. They really need to restructure their staff and hire people who give a darn about providing a good customer experience. read more

Nice people, good fast food! Nice salsa bar! Glad to have an easy go to on the east side! read more

Just good grub. Love their tacos and grilled chicken burrito-- so fresh and yummy! Good portion sizes too

Big burritos, I thought the prices where good considering I got 2 meals from my 1 burrito. The woman at the register was not friendly but I would still go back. My husband works late hours and will take advantage of this restaurant being open late. read more

+nice interior +fast service -identical to Lucy's in town in flavor profile and food quality which is either good or bad depending on how you like Lucy's (for me meh) -salsa feels a bit salty and generic. Don gabinos has better flavor although the interior and parking for gabinos is awful Most likely won't be coming back and was hoping for something a bit more interesting read more

Omg. So good. Hidden gem. I love the salsa bar. The space is new and clean. We have gone here a few times. Half of that was to-go. The to-go quality was great. Usually, you don't get good to-go quality. Must get any and all burritos. I'm so happy a place like this opened up on the east side of bend! Next move is coming here for breakfast burritos! read more

I'm disappointed in myself for waiting so long to try this place! The restaurant is very clean and well lit and the staff is super friendly. We tried the fish tacos, shrimp tacos and pork street tacos. All were exceptional! The salsa bar is amazing with tasty salsa, crisp pickled carrots and yummy grilled onions with whole jalepeno! And the best part... the price! It's hard to find any food places open past 9pm or affordable anymore, in Bend. I'm happy to say, " We've found our new spot!" read more

Best food out there!! I love Axels Taco Shop!! Great service and wonderful workers. I enjoy my food everytime I am there!!

Great food. Legit condiment bar. Easy on the wallet (especially for Bend). Almost fast food environment ambiance.

Very clean, great service. I ordered a Carne Asada Taco, and a Adobada taco... and both were delicious, but I definitely preferred the Carne Asada. Chips and salsa came as chips seemingly warmed by a heat lamp, and pico de Gallo salsa. My wife didn't care for the shredded beef, wasn't terrible but the Carne Asada was delicious. We definitely preferred the carne asada of the three we tried. Over all, we would come back again. The best part was that it was very affordable. A full lunch (we drank water only) was a little over $20. Definitely satisfied customers. I would give them a shot. They are over by the new Cascades Brewery location on the East side of town. read more

Love that Axel's has moved in so close to home! We've been a few times already, primarily for breakfast burritos. They are so hefty, each one has served us two meals so far haha. Love the Arizona if you're straying from the classic Buenas Dias. Excited to try more here! read more

Great carne asada burrito. Delicious salsa bar. Fast and affordable. Would highly recommend

The food here is pretty good. Similar to Lucy's maybe not as well seasoned but seemed a bit less greasy. The only thing that prevents them from getting 5 stars is the fact that they charge $3.50 for chips and salsa. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that charged for the chips. read more

The servings are huge! We had a chile relleno and a chimichanga. More than enough leftovers for a second meal. It is self service. Wait in line to order, take a number, wait at your table. Not too bad. Fairly quick service. Self service fountain drinks. A few aguas frescas like Jamaica, Horchata and Tamarindo are also available. The layout could use a reset. Lots of people, standing in a line, are right in the middle of several of the tables. Even some ropes to create a particular area for a line might be a good idea. The ambiance is that of a fast food place. Not good-not bad. There is also a station where several salsas, radishes, peppers, and cucumber slices are available. Overall, I am very happy with the food and I will go to try some of their other selections. read more

Staff is nice. Food is mediocre. I've been three times to try different things, so I feel like this is a fair assessment. I would go again if I was short on other options, but it's not someplace I'd plan ahead to go. read more
