Cool to see another hang out spot on the SE side of town. Stopped in with some buddies for some beers on a Friday afternoon. Overall the vibe was pretty chill and the smaller location took me back to the craft beer scene a few years ago, where owners toiled away in plain sight of customers and passionate craft drinkers were still stoked to tell you about the beers. Also cool that it is wholly owned by women, a demographic that is not largely represented in craft beer. I tried 5x 4oz samplers to start with. All 5 were fairly light bodied and pretty crisp. All seemed well attenuated and no off flavors. - The Wimea Pale Ale has a nice subtly-sweet malt note that balanced well with the hops - The Grazing Goat IPA has a pleasant citrus bitterness that reminded me of a time when IPAs were still IPAs and not hoppy pales (I'm looking at you, Hazy's!) - The Deer Hugger Hazy was nice, although didn't really stand out among the other pales/IPAs. - The Sneaky Deer Hazy Double had a good balance of hoppiness and body and was super drinkable. this was my choice when I went back for another pint - The Tin Pan Alley Imperial Stout w/Coffee was decent, but lacked the body and malt I'm looking for in an Imperial Stout Overall, the beers were pretty tasty and location pretty cool. Our disappointment came when we noticed the bar tender pour a 12oz can of wine into one of their glasses and it filled it nearly to the top. It appears they're using 13oz Tulip glasses, so your $6 beer is actually more equivalent to a $7.40 pint. I'm all for specialized serving vessels, I just like to know what I'm paying for. Again, cool to see a place on the SE side to stop in for a beer that has good atmosphere and quality beers, just wish prices were closer to other folks in town or serving sizes were noted on the menu

Excellent brewery! It's a big space with a lot of great beers. I had an Italian style Pilsner. It was very good perfect for a hot day. They have a big indoor space and some outdoor seating as well. It was a good stop, I'd definitely recommend a stop by!

Wonderful brewery that's a new discovery at least to me since my last trip to Bend. I wiped out all my brewery stops when I was there during that time but there are always new breweries on the horizon even though some areas may not experience it as frequently or rapidly as other areas. Spider City was my favorite brewery on this most recent trip when Steve and I hit a handful of newcomers. The beer here is experimental in beer recipes and flavors and that is always what I'm looking for when doing these visits to multiple breweries in a given trip. The taproom here is roomy and comfortable which is always a great combination. Now onto the good stuff... the beer! At this brewery I got their Cherrywood Smoked Porter which was fantastic! I don't see Cherrywood beer much in all of my excursions to different breweries so I really thought I should take the opportunity to get one. I loved a Cherrywood beer back in Colorado when I visited one time and this one was excellent as well. Steve got the Kaffir Lime Sea Salt Gose which was an excellent beer as well. Spider City was an excellent stop and well worth making a return trip for!

Beer so good, I'll have another please! Great atmosphere, great service, 15+ options on tap, and delicious burgers from Americana food truck. If you are looking for a brewery to enjoy with family, friends, pups, or a solo beer after work, this is the place for you! Thanks spider city, I'll definitely be returning soon.

Stopped into this little place on my visit from Arizona. Brita was so helpful and kind. Beer is great, atmosphere is even better!

Good IPAs. The salty porter (or was it a stout???) and Hefeweizen were delicious. Pleasant ambiance.

Serves food and also may have a food truck open. Our last visit we enjoyed the bowl of chili and Caesar salad was all A-OK. The staff was helpful even when busy. Interesting to note, it's like all the beer drinker mt bike folks that used to all come here years ago just happened to grow up and have kids at once, so now it definitely has a very kids playground scene, but I still think it's cool here. (Just go inside to avoid the mayhem. lol!) It's sweet that they create a fun environment outside there. A suggestion maybe would be create a small section outside. that's a no kid table for sunshine and drinking too. ;) it looks like they're making good use of their space. I noticed many changes since the last visit. Looks like they have a party room you could rent, lots of fun well designed swag for purchase, ect. Crux will be always be on my brewery list for Bend, I will perhaps just avoid peak weekend hours. Cheers!

I spent a week in Bend and there are SO many great places to relax and have an awesome beer, this place is definitely one of the best around! I have been doing "beertender's choice" flights almost everywhere I went this week but here, I just stuck to what I like. I got 3 West coast IPAs and one imperial. They understand this style and knock it out of the (their own) park! Today the "Grade A" did it for me and the 1/2 hitch was an excellent stronger option. It will be a while before I return (500 miles from home) but if you live in, or are traveling through the area, definitely give'em a try!

The bartender let me try two but that was my preference. The pretzel was delicious. I'm not a huge beer cheese fan but it was hot and delicious with the mustard around the outside. We were curious about the cask beer which apparently is warm (or room temperature) and flat- not what you look for normally in a beer! The nice bartender let us try it just out of curiosity- not for me! I'd come back to try lunch or dinner.

Yay! It was the best veggie burger my husband has had in a long time... he added avocado and vegan cheese (which did make it a bit pricey). Awesome that you can do many different sides including regular fries, Cajun fries, salad, chips, and more options... do wish they had onion rings however. I got the hummus plate which was good but not the best I've had. It came with a baguette which was more like garlic bread so I would have, personally, liked pita more. It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. Also had kombucha on tap which was delicious (from Humm). Everyone working was super sweet and the vibes were relaxed and casual. Our food came out quick and exactly how we ordered it. They also seemed to have spaces for larger parties, too. They also have a little gift shop if you wanted to pick anything from shirts, to bottle openers, to beer candles and more! Would come back again!

UPP Liquids - Pathetic :(

As I write this review I see that it is coming up as an updated review as opposed to a new one…read more Back in 2017 for this entry this review was for Immersion Brewing but now my update is for UPP Liquids. I am not sure if it was a name change this brewery went through or but I suspect so. Because if this was a brand new brewery I imagine it would have it's own Yelp entry. But who can say for sure... maybe it was transitional activity that reached to what my review currently pertains to which is UPP Liquids. This is still a brewery and it's a good one. So I am bumping up a star here as I really enjoyed the beer I had by UPP Liquids. The name of the beer was called Pinball Wizard which is an Oatmeal Stout. I do like these kinds of stouts very much as I like the oatmeal that is at play here and what it contributes to the flavor profile. For Pinball izard flavor features in this beer is roastiness, maltiness, a hint of smokiness and a coffee flavor. This hit the spot in every way and it was a joy to drink. Even though these beers are great to have on cold, rainy day the day we had it was a bit more pleasant and still. But despite that it didn't ruin the atmosphere as to when to have this beer at all. It was such an enjoyable beer I rated it quite highly on Untappd which is my beer rater app for each individual beer that I try. So yes, trying out UPP for the first time was quite a positive impression.

Not sure which was the worst ~ service or food. Lady beertender was not friendly, short in interaction, not happy to serve. She needs retraining or let go. Food was not good at all. So on our last trip to Bend we finally made it here to the their taproom and it didn't disappoint at all. It was a great stop! We got a taster set of a variety of different beers that they had on tap and they were all quite good. Many of them have a wild ale aspect to them which I can appreciate at you don't come across this beer too much on a routine basis. The taproom is cool and I love all of their art specifically where fermentation liquids spilled onto a sheet or a cloth making various designs and hues during the brewing making process of their beers. Other excellent beers that we have had from this brewery are the Samalie which is a Wild Ale. This one I rated very highly on Untappd because it was so amazing! Things to look for in the flavor profile are sourness, tartness, fruitiness, a natural sweetness and a dry finish. Really an excellent beer! Moving on from that we had the great Ping Pong Table Beer. This was another beer I rated quite highly and enjoyed immensely. This beer is light bodies, smooth and effervescent with the flavor of elderflower at work. Another excellent beer! Definitely great beer experiences with this brewery and definitely recommend it to the more adventurous beer drinking folks. There are plenty of breweries to try out in Bend and if you are looking for something on the more unusual side The Ale Apothecary is a great place for such a thing!
