I've been here three times now, and I think this was my last visit. The food can be really good, but it's inconsistent enough that you never quite know what you're going to get. This last experience was frustrating from the start. We were handed menus and told to find our own seat, which already felt a little disorganized. Once seated, the service was incredibly slow. We ended up spending almost 2 hours there, and not because we wanted to linger. To be fair, our waitress was clearly working as hard as she could and trying to take care of everyone. This didn't feel like a staff attitude problem -- it felt like a restaurant staffing problem. One person can only do so much when they're stretched too thin. Today, Friday Dec 5, 2025, at about 7:35pm, I watched your bartender purposely ignore me after acknowledging me and saying she would get to me when she had a chance. It was pretty obvious when she made sure to serve every white patron first, including a fellow who came in AFTER me. I know she saw me as she acknowledged me when I sat down, saying she would be with me when she could, and I wasn't the only one to notice this. I expect that sort of treatment at Timbers, NOT at my local taco shop. I won't be back, and I am APALLED that you would employ such a person. Tacos El Machin is a newish Mexican restaurant on the east side near the Whole Foods/Costco shopping complex off Greenwood. Next to Timbers Tavern. Despite the name, it's not just a taco joint. Space is a bit spartan but seating is comfortable. They have a back room bar although it wasn't open when I went during the noon hour. No customers at all at 11:30 but a few showed up in the next half hour. For some reason, I originally thought El Machin was a fast casual operation (order at a counter, take a seat) but no, it's a full service sit down place. I came for tacos so the taco plate beckoned. You get three tacos, rice and beans (black or pinto). - Pollo taco: fat tacos, tender chicken, very bland meat. Needs sauce. - Asada taco: fat tacos, tender beef, better seasoning than the chicken but still needs sauce. - Five hot sauces: they're all very tasty (the bottles are unlabeled). One is mild; the other five have various degrees of kick; none are super, burn-your-mouth hot. - Pinto beans: solid - Rice: needs a good helping of pico but that's much like everyone else's rice. As mentioned, the menu includes other non-taco offerings such as tortas and burritos, fajitas and a bunch of shrimp dishes. No enchiladas or rellenos so they differ from your typical Mexican restaurant in that regard. The website is fully functional and has a good downloadable menu. I first need to say , the food here is amazing ,, but the service is trash , our server girl forgot our order 2 times within 30 min , and then finally put it in , If it wasn't for the other server coming over , we wouldn't have gotten our drinks ( which we still don't have , going on 40 min) it taco Tuesday and that could be an excuse but all the action is going down in the bar , not this dining room , it's just a bummer because I was so hype about this place , but the service man , such a let down , but again , the food is ridiculous and my daughter got a kids quesadilla and the rice and beans are cold and hard . This place will charge you a 4% charge on your bill if you paid with card, but if you pay with cash they will charge you just the same. I asked the server why my bill was more than it should be and explained I was paying with cash. She said she could press a button and it would take off the extra 4% charge. The new price she told me was more than I was charged on the bill I got. She said she didn't know why that was and left it at that. I will not be back. read more

The food was really tasty. I had a torta with fried pork, and it tasted wonderful. My only complaint is that the pork was small cubes instead of shredded so it fell out of the sandwich some. The service was very good - quick order and delivery, and the waitress checked back with us several times. The decor was simple and south of the border style. I was really excited to visit Tacos El Machin Bend after reading all of the positive reviews in a local food group. We went for dinner last night, but unfortunately it was not a good experience. We sat down and a waiter brought waters and menus. He came back a few minutes later with chips and hot sauce. Not salsa. A bottle of green hot sauce. "We're out of salsa." he said. Ok. I get it. But at 6pm on a Friday night? Waiter returns to take our food order. How about drinks first. There's no alcoholic be safe on the menu so we asked. Ordered two margaritas. Server shows up with one margarita. We said thanks, and pointed out that we ordered two. Original waiter then shows up with a beer. Reminded him I ordered a margarita. He left the beer. The brought a margarita. Ordered food. Wife got shrimp fajitas with side of avocado. I ordered taco plate with three different meats. "We're out of chicken." Ok. Make it chorizo instead. My food shows up. Tacos look (and were) awesome. Beans were tasty too. Wife's shrimp fajitas show up. No avocado. No tortillas. Also no shrimp, as they were chicken fajitas. When waiter came back with avo and tortillas she pointed out that she ordered shrimp, not chicken, (they're out of chicken, remember?) and he just said, "Sorry." and walked off. No offer to make it right. Strange. Fajitas were not good. Cooked in a strange sauce and the chicken was super dried out. They were nothing like the other pics of fajitas we've seen posted. Overall it was just a strange experience. I would go back for the tacos, but the fajitas and the service were really sub par, and I so wanted to love this place! There were only 3 tables occupied when we were there, too, so it wasn't because they were slammed. My review is based on price point vs taste, quality and quantity. The carne asada burrito is almost $17 so we expected a decent sized really good burrito but it was small and barely has anything in it. The meat is that typical cheap gristle type meat and it taste less than a $8 burrito anywhere else. The taco plate was $14 and same meat and style and barely any toppings. Just a few diced onions and picked onions and cilantro. Very bland and boring. The rice and beans are very very bland and was a super super small portion of both. Nice employees though. Why, why, why do we need another average Mexican food restaurant? This location sat empty for years and when we saw it was being worked on we were so excited to finally get something new and tasty. We waited a few months to work out all the kinks so we wouldn't be disappointed. Well unfortunately after the wait and anticipation we finally came in and tried it and it was closed due to heat. This was somewhat understandable as it was a hot day but we walked there so it wasn't too hot to walk... 2nd attempt we made it and were greeted promptly and seated. It was not busy at all so I wandered around and checked out the whole location before coming back and being waited on. The server was very nice and took our order and someone else took our drink orders. The food came out at lightening speed which is usually a sign or mediocrity. Well, survey say as you saw in the 3 stars at the top of this review it was así-así. We really wish them the best and hope they improve but unfortunately we won't be back. Bend's food scene has gotten so expensive and crowded that there is very rarely a 2nd chance for a 1st impression. read more

Really nice beans are hard to find. -chicken was cooked well -friendly employees -good website Cons: -needs to have more of a fast casual approach, the place doesn't have enough ambience to wanna sit down, or much system to eat quickly if you want to go or just not have to have service -the hot sauces need work, they are a bit bland. The mild needs more sweetness and tang. I'd prefer a salsa bar -they ran out of salsa for chips which is odd This place maybe has more potential than a lot of places I went to, but just doesn't quite hit the mark. My husband wanted to try three different meat tacos, and was told they were out of chicken. He asked for a Pacifico, guess what, they were out. So we ordered two margaritas. The waiter brought him a Victorian instead of a margarita. I asked for shrimp fajitas. My husband's food was brought out at least five minutes before mine. Finally mine was brought. Wrong order. He gave me beef instead of shrimp. The beef was SO dry and old. The onions and peppers tasted like soy sauce and were so over cooked you could barely tell the difference between an onion and a pepper. We left very unhappy and unsatisfied. I can't believe they have a few different tacos at only $1 each! The $1 ones are; shredded chicken, shredded beef and ground beef. I had one shredded chicken and then got a $4 al pastor. The al pastor was very good and the shredded chicken was okay especially for the price. My friend got the shrimp cerviche tostada and said it was very good and a couple of tacos. This little corner restaurant found in a strip mall, has freshly made, delicious food and a wonderful bartender who went out of her way for me. We were in town to shop and stopped for dinner and decided to eat in the bar. I don't drink alcohol and asked if they had any special mocktails. The bartender offered up a few suggestions then we decided on trying a mocktail made with her fresh made margarita mix. It was delicious! Our dinner was made with very fresh ingredients and we were presented with 4 different house made sauces, ranging in levels of spiciness. That's a win for this gal! Recently opened in Bend, I was expecting a taco stand style restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find a full sit down inside dining business. Even better is the cuisine.
