Silver Diners have been our favorite casual dining spots for years. But this was our first time visiting one of their sister locations, known simply as Silver (unless you want to say the whole "Silver New American Brasserie", but who wants to go to all that bother?). Anyway, excellent experience all around. We started with the Wagyu Sliders, which were first rate, and the fries that accompanied them were hot, crisp and delicious. I had the Ahi Tuna salad, my wife the Chimmichurri Shrimp Taco Bowl, and both were very good. My portion of tuna was large enough for me to bring an entire portion of protein home for lunch the following day. We ended with the lemon tart and a scoop of vanilla on the side. There's just a whisper of thyme in the lemon filling. I didn't know what that would be like until I tried, but it really works. Best part of all was our server Diana, funny, and just awesome in general. Only downside was finding out that the Silver restaurants don't accept the Silver Diners rewards card. They should find a way to make that happen, because it just feels a little chintzy. Minor point though, so an A+ experience overall. read more

I've been here twice the past visit was very underwhelming. It took 15 minutes to be greeted and given a menu. The service was extremely slow and the food was okay. Our waiter was extremely inattentive we sat for 15 minutes with empty plates and had to ask another waiter to get our waiter so we can pay for our food. I would say don't come here during peak hours of service is something you look for. I will say from my previous experience we enjoyed the food and the service. read more

Horrible and discriminatory service!!! A couple who just sat down got their drinks within 3 minutes. My party waited 45 minutes for water... so horrible, we had to ask for a manager... over water. I never ever like to pull the race card in reviews... but it was so obvious, it hurt. Drinks from the EMPTY bar took 45 minutes. Food took nearly an hou Half of the orders were messed up. And we got a "sorry" from two managers. It was horrible. I've never felt so horrible at a restaurant and it saddens me to leave this review. The managers looked at us as if we were strange for asking to be compensated for our horrible treatment. Someone who has a severe nut allergy asked for them to no put pecans on the food.... only to have pecans on her food and have to rush to the bathroom after feeling ill. Our waitress had a clear unpleasant attitude from the beginning. She may have been overwhelmed, which is a managerial issue for not assigning her some additional help. Regardless of the large party, she never cracked a smile, rolled her eyes serval times at simple request like "can we have a side of ketchup?" She seemed really bothered by us for not a reason I could notice. The people who brought out the food were more apologetic than the actual managers. Things got so bad the general manager had to be contacted. I'm not going to even comment on the food. It doesn't matter at this point, does it? I'm not sure what happened tonight at this place, but I will never be back. Never. read more

Came here for dinner last night with a friend. Quality of food and service was amazing! I was stuck in between a couple of appetizer choices but my server Matthew was kind enough to suggest the crispy brussels sprouts. Definitely a great choice! He also went out of his way to get into depth of each dish I had in mind just so I don't feel like I made the wrong decision. Ended up with the chimichurri shrimp taco bowl. Great place for apps! The server was super helpful and the atmosphere was slightly more upscale diner. They offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the goat cheese bruschetta was delicious! Definitely recommend if you're in the area. read more

Came for brunch on a Saturday. We're seated outside. Food was ultimately delicious, however service was sketchy. We were seated and ordered drinks. Server returned and took our order (without bringing the drinks). Food arrived and no one had set silverware on the table. We mentioned to the servers who brought the food and she apologized and went to get it. A few minutes later our drinks arrived and we again asked for silverware. I've come here twice recently and they've been able to accommodate us in a large group. The servers are incredibly helpful and friendly and gave great recommendations. Their milkshakes are absolutely top notch-- thick and creamy, maybe the best I've had in DC! Last night I had the Moroccan tomato tagine, a vegetarian dish that our server steered me towards, and it was so flavorful, unique and satisfying! My friend had the burrata avocado toast and that looked delicious as well. I think the food here is a 10 out of 10, but it's the service that keeps us coming back-- 11 out of 10 for sure! I will start by saying that the staff was very friendly and I enjoyed my time at Silver. However, the service was very slow and we ended up being there for well over 2 hours as it took a long time for our food to be made. Our drinks also took at least half an hour to come out. Not the end of the world, just something I noticed. The pickle fried chicken sandwich was incredible and a 5/5. However, the rest of my family was left disappointed with their meals as the pancakes were undercooked and one guest's burger was very undercooked. They did offer to recook the burger which was a nice gesture that we appreciated. Overall, I had an okay meal but don't think I will be returning here in the future read more

Ate brunch here on Easter Sunday and it was AWESOME. The "flexitarian" brunch menu has something for everyone and many vegetarian options. The restaurant was very busy, but the service staff was awesome. We sat outside, and the server was tremendous and attentive. Drinks were good: had bloody Marys and a French Blonde. Food was EXCELLENT. The avocado toast was delicious--some of the best I have had. I also had a Winter Berry Salad, which was tasty fresh, and Eggs Benedict. Now this aint no Silver Diner, that's for sure! Very taken back by their vast menu and unique things they offer. I'll start off by saying their cocktails were phenomenal. I specifically liked the Silver Smash - the ginger beer gave it an attractive carbonation and the crushed blue berries gave me a "mojito" type vibe which I loved. I was able to have several dishes and my favorites were the Brussels sprouts due to the crispy charred flavor which seems to be more and more popular these days. The Chimichurri wings were beautiful - the Chimichurri gave it a striking green flavor and the salsa roja contrasted beautifully with a reddish orange color. Very charming and tasty dish! Just okay. Went here because it was close to the National Cathedral where we were visiting. It was a Friday morning and not busy at all, but service was all over the place and inattentive. The food was okay. The French toast was the only stand-out. Everyone else said their meals were quite bland. Decent if you have no other choice and just want some eggs and bacon or something, but otherwise, try venturing a bit farther for another place. read more

Came here for brunch with friends. The atmosphere is very nice and modern. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the smoked salmon and goat cheese omelet which came with toast and fruit. The toast and fruit were tasty. Omelet very meh. Husband had waffles and fried chicken which he said was fine but nothing special. Prices are a bit high for the quality imho. read more

I came into Silver for dinner and left satisfied. Upon entering, I was greeted and immediately seated. The waitress quickly got my water and took my order. I had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. While the crab cakes were indeed very good, it wasn't entirely jumbo lump; there was also a lot of backfin lump crab meat. However, the crab cake was almost entirely meat and not filler, so in my book, it's still a good crab cake (just not the best). In addition to the crab cakes, I got a milkshake. The milkshake was good, but unfortunately, they mixed up my order, so there was a slight delay in getting it. Overall, Silver is a good choice for good and reasonably priced food. read more

This most recent time, though, I was a little less enamored with the prices. It's tough to find something under $20. I had a tasty but over-priced poke bowl. Nice flavors, but I couldn't stomach the price. My pear drop cocktail was a bit too sweet and had too much ice. I had a similar ice issue with my previous visit. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won't get another cocktail here. Our waiter was attentive but kept trying to encourage us to order more stuff. Having been to the Bethesda location as well, this place rocks! we had a perfectly cooked steak and frites , an equally (or even more delicious) bison rancheros! they come with an big scoop of guac! yummy! We also had the Shrimp Cappelini which was my fav - everything was SO DELICIOUS! To top it off we had the Four berry pie as dessert which was made to order so warm and topped with a scoop of ice cream! The service was very attentive and great! We've dined in here a few times pre COVID - this is the first time trying a takeout. Happy to report it worked very well - food was ready at exactly the time for pickup, came in big recyclable containers and even retained most of the presentation. Normally we'd never think of ordering anything other than pizza for takeout but now will likely do this more often. We had the scallops and short ribs, both were delicious and good portions. The restaurant actually also has a quite extensive outdoor dining space along the relatively wide sidewalk. Tables are distanced although some might seem a bit closer than others. Tonight I was dining with a close friend who has been a few times and recommended Silver. We ordered a smoky gouda burger, avocado toast, and a peppermint milkshake. Burger patty was cooked properly, but the toppings didn't work well. Maple pecan bacon,pico de gallo, and beans? The Gouda and brioche couldn't save it. The avocado toast though? Incredible. If that was the only menu item Silver would have a Michelin star. The milkshake was way too thin and didn't taste minty. We've been here numerous times, at least 1-2 times per week between dining in (outdoors) and take out. They are so inconsistent. They don't have great customer service and never recognize us. On the recent three occasions I have had pork in my veggie meals that shouldn't have had pork. Some days they will not be seating outdoors because it's too cold or raining. They have dine in promotions: Monday burger + beer or shake for $15. We came on Monday, today, for the first time for the burger and shake promotion. However they have a sign outside that says Monday 1/2 price burger with beer or shake. In the check book they are still giving the old promotional flyers. I said something and a manager came over and said the flyer is old and wrong and they are no longer using that promotion. She wouldn't honor it. She was dismissive. She read the receipt wrong so I had to review it with her. Then she stated, "we are arguing over 50 cents?" I didn't know we were arguing but the bill appears wrong and if you're not going to honor the $15 price it should at least be correct. We are here twice per week and we always see her at the front. We have never complained despite our many issues. We have definitely noticed many inconsistencies over the past few months. This will be our last time dining here. read more

Came here on a whim last night. Outside seating is available. It was quiet and our waitress Linda was great. I tried Beyond Meat for the first time and i was impressed! The meatless meatballs were so full of flavor, even if your not a vegetarian it is a must try. They have a late night happy hour menu which we ordered off. My boyfriend ordered the fried pickle chicken sliders and the wings. Both were full of flavor and not spicy. So we ordered another round since they were on the happy hour menu. We also got 3 margaritas and our bill was only about $50. I definitely recommend going during the happy hour hours. read more

Between 4 to 5 stars, but can't bring myself to round up. I order out from here every time I'm home and don't want to cook for myself. I have been pretty happy so far. Decent dining options, including all day breakfast, seafood, and classic burgers, all of which taste very really good!! The pricing is reasonable (prob an average of $15 / dish), but would caution when ordering sides because the amount of food that comes in a side tends to be über small for the price. May not recommend for a fancy night out or big event, but definetely a good option for a casual Wednesday evening or order in and Netflix. So I never heard of this place but wanted to participate in cocktail week which was Nov 18th-24th and Silver was one place that was participating. My sister and I chose this place because we liked the pairing and the fact that the cocktail week special had a wider availability than other places (like some places didn't honor the special until 5pm...they weren't that strict). So they had a Pear Blossom Cocktail paired with their Chicken Sliders- LOVEEDDDDDD IT YUMMMYYYY. It put me in such a good mood. As my sister and I looked at the menu we realized that there was great food options on the menu in general! So although we went there only for cocktail week we decided to try some other things on the menu. One thing I adore is that their HH is 3-630, i need a HH that starts early than 4/5 so YESSSSSS to this one) We ordered the brussels (which were on HH for 6$) and we loved them! Different flare, I think they had apricots and like some kind of nuts in them...i wish there was a more specialized sauce than ranch though. I ordered hot chocolate which was the only mediocre thing...like the hot cocoa had no taste. Like none. Great presentation with the whipped cream, but pretty basic tasting cocoa. I also ordered the beignets- AMAZING. tasted like i was eating warm apple pie bites and legit my soul was happy. Shout out to this place and also to cocktail week for introducing me to Silver! I really want to love this place, but it's just ok. I've come for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hopes that it would get better, and it's been decent, but not great. The menu is also fairly limited compared to its cousin Silver Diner. Overall, I think lunch was my best meal here , so I would possibly come back for that, but the food is nothing to write home about. read more

Service was very pleasant , food came out hot and fast. Only thing bad I have to say is that they promote hand pressed juice but definitely was not . I ordered the hand pressed orange juice which came out so fast since it looked and tasted like the ones that you get by the gallon or carton. $8 for that was ridiculous. I let the server know and was told that the manager said it was because they were out of season . I paid for it because I ordered it but they didn't have to lie to me. I would give this place 3.5 stars for their happy hour specials. Their food specials were absolutely worth it. The drinks were underwhelming especially the fizzy soda drinks. They were poorly mixed and constructed and tasted like water. The food however was a treat. The brussel sprouts were very well cooked and the bruschetta was a great flavor. The bread was crunchy and soft and easy to share between two people. The vibes of the restaurant almost reminded me of a lower tier Ted's Bulletin with milkshakes on the menu and other diner specials. Their happy hour is worth checking out. Last night we attended the shakedown cruse of this new hot spot in Cathedral Heights. Silver is an upscale restaurant by Silver Diner. They have one other location in Bethesda. Let me tell you, the place is very well decorated and the atmosphere is set perfectly for its location. They went all out to make it warm and inviting. The evening went very well despite the staff going live for the first time and the kitchen handled the large private gathering in professional stride. The food and drinks are solid in their preparation and flavors. We had two appetizers (the wings and guacamole toast points). Both were done very well and the flavors of the made fresh from local was evident. Entrees of Tuna Poke, double (two pieces) fried chicken sandwich, fresh Salmon with vegetables, and a top notch Cobb Salad hit the mark. The dessert of apple beignet's topped off a perfect meal. The cocktails and spiked milkshakes cooled our pallets while delivering a bit of a kick. Silver will fast become your go to for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. You will not be disappointed and you need to tell all your friends to meet you at the hot spot Silver. read more
