Loved the Mother's Day Brunch. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and the food was great. We will be back for Jazznights on Thursdays!

Brussel sprouts, fries, broccoli, and flatbread

I tried the lobster fries and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels were a bit on the oily side but still very tasty. The lobster fries, however, were just average--they could have used more flavor or toppings to stand out. My friend ordered the flatbread and broccoli and thought they were average, but she also enjoyed the ambiance and would come back. The overall atmosphere was very elevated, making it one of the nicest spots in the area. Worth visiting for the vibe!

This was our first date night in a couple years after having her son and believe me when we tell you we're definitely going to try this maybe once or twice a month. First off the food was absolutely amazing everything tasted fresh there is not anything I did not like. Now I'm one that cannot stand eating mushrooms but that chef was somehow able to get me to eat mushrooms for the first time without any complaints lol. The staff were absolutely amazing very sweet and checked on us when they could despite being busy. I also want to thank Chef Khai for the wonderful tasting food and we will definitely be back.

The key lime pie is perfect with the right balance of sweet and sour.

I totally forgot to take pictures of our appetizers and main dishes because we were all super excited to dig in...again. This was our second time here and is now is our must go to restaurant when we're in town. The restaurant is very hip and you can't help but feel upbeat and happy when you're inside. The lighting is modern and fun. You have to start with their crab French fries. I know that fries sound basic and these are anything but basic -- they have the perfect crunch and the crab takes them up a level. The calamari also has the right crispness and the dip adds great flavor to every bite. My spouse ordered the rib eye, which was perfectly prepared and served with creamy mashed potatoes and fresh broccolini. Our daughter had the burger -- again, sounds basic and it's not. Every part of the burger was fresh, from the fluffy bun to the savory hamburger patty to the produce, and she enjoyed every bite. I had the lamb which was very tender and served over savory couscous. The homemade tzatziki is ah-ma-zing and really is the perfect addition to this dish. We each had to try different desserts as their desserts rotate so they were all new to us. I LOVE carrot cake, especially with thick cream cheese frosting. The only thing missing was raisins, although my daughter and spouse were glad they were left out. The chocolate mousse cake was light and not too sweet. My spouse is a key lime pie connoisseur and the key lime pie cheesecake was by far one of the best he has ever had. It had an interesting sweetness to it that cut the bite of the sourness of the lime. I can't finish this review without mentioning the staff. The hostess was warm and friendly right away. Our servers were friendly and helpful. The chef and manager made sure our evening was perfect. We ate excited to have a new favorite place for a great meal.

Steak and Cheese Flatbread and Burrata Salad

Husband and I came here because the photos online looked amazing but please do not let my photos deceive you. The steak and cheese flatbread was had a strange taste to it, none of the ingredients were fresh and you could tell. Cheese on the flatbread is clearly American sliced cheese that comes wrapped in plastic, the meat had a smell and weird taste to it. The lobster pasta did not have much seasoning, it tasted better when I took it home and added more seasoning to it. Even then my husband and I were not feeling the best after eating here and eating the leftovers at home. The restaurant itself is beautiful and definitely a vibe, we did not have any alcoholic drinks but the people there seemed to be enjoying themselves at the bar. Our server Renzo was great, very efficient. Sad to say though, I will not be back! A $200 meal that wasn't worth it.

    2 different salads

We visited this new restaurant on a recent trip to Bethesda. We were pleasantly surprised to find live music there at 7 on a Friday night. The atmosphere is club-like and the fact that there was a show drew a distinct crowd. Our server was Renzo and he was great, bringing out the courses in a relaxed manner. We shared 2 different salads. We had the Sea Bass dish and the lamb. Both were prepared well with distinct seasoning. We so enjoyed our dinner and would return again.

I had some mild expectations when arriving at Barrel & Crow which were quickly met and exceeded. Our party of four enjoyed a truly delightful and delicious meal. From the moment we sat down, our server--Dan--delivered five-star service. He was genuinely friendly, attentive without hovering. His knowledge of the menu and thorough description of the dishes was also notable. Some were his favorites, so he really described them (all) with mucho gusto. It was like we were guests in his home. We basically ended up ordering literally everything he recommended and he was absolutely spot-on. We started with the fried green tomatoes and calamari. Our smorgasbord of entrées included the lamb bolognese (my favorite, though sadly not the one I ordered), a beautifully tender lamb shank, spiced shrimp and grits, and a deeply flavorful andouille and seafood gumbo. Each dish was thoughtful and well prepared, though the shrimp and grits were a bit savorier than I'm accustomed to. Dessert didn't disappoint either. We savored the chocolate torte and also their signature sweet beignets. They were the perfect ending to an already stellar meal.We left behind so many other tempting menu items and looking forward to our next visit.

The service was so so considering the size of the restaurant. There seemed to be plenty of servers but we had to flag them down to order, get coffee refills and get the check. We liked the food. They had an interesting shukshuka that 2 people got and finished every bit. They also got a side of potato "hash" but they were really just diced roasted potatoes. Not worth the $6 price but worked for soaking up the shukshuka gravy. We had one beet salad that was very nice. We ordered the beignets at the end and they were just fair. We would still go back to try other things!

Wait staff is attentive without being annoying. Ashley did a great job as my primary server. I had a steak taco with cilantro and onion which was very good, and I also had the trio fajitas. It was very good, especially the steak was very tender and shrimp was a nice size. I have an issue with the auto 20% tip as well. That's why my experience isn't 5-stars. This maybe legally problematic if it's not legally noticed in advance so patrons know of their legal obligation to pay before ordering. I didn't read any notice in the menu or in the restaurant. I'm not an attorney so my comment is strictly my morbid curiosity. Overall, I had a good experience in the early Friday evening. I recommend their restaurant for good food and good service.

My friends and I were simply enjoying our drinks when a waitress named Libeth (a bottle girl) pushed one of my friends while moving through the crowded area. My friend reacted naturally to being pushed, without aggression or disrespect. After that interaction, Libeth appeared upset by his reaction and said something to him that I personally did not hear. A few moments later, she returned with two security guards and had us removed from the establishment without explanation or any attempt to communicate with us respectfully. When I tried to calmly ask what was happening and why such an extreme action was being taken, Libeth began screaming aggressively, saying: "Get the fuck out of here, bitch, get out." This situation was completely unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. We were humiliated and escorted out as if we had physically assaulted someone, caused a disturbance, or committed some serious misconduct, which never happened. We were simply customers there to enjoy the event, have drinks, and support the business. I do not understand how someone who is clearly not properly trained to handle high-stress customer service situations--especially during a crowded event like Cinco de Mayo--can represent a business where customer service should be a top priority. In a packed environment and dance floor setting, accidental contact between people can naturally happen without malicious intent. The behavior displayed by Libeth reflected extremely poor customer service, lack of professionalism, and a very low level of education in conflict resolution and customer interaction. No customer should ever be verbally abused, screamed at, or publicly embarrassed in this manner. Additionally, I am requesting a refund for the three tickets I purchased for my friends, as well as the drinks we paid for and were unable to finish because we were forced to leave the establishment without justification. If this matter is not resolved appropriately, I will proceed with disputing the charges with my bank as fraudulent in order to recover my money. Furthermore, I intend to report this terrible experience to consumer protection authorities if there is no proper resolution for my refund. If this employee behaved this way toward us without justification, it is very likely she may continue treating other customers the same way. I expect a prompt and professional resolution to this matter.

On the one hand, there are some very positive aspects to Beth's, situated in downtown about a 10 min walk from the Bethesda Metro Station. Turn off Old Georgetown Road onto Fairmont Ave, and the first thing you encounter is a beautiful outdoor patio for al fresco dining and a large bar. The colors are vibrant with a focus on Southwestern earth tones; very reminiscent of a cafe you'd find in Sedona. It was still on the chilly side when my dinner group gathered, so we opted to sit indoors. There is a small waiting area in the foyer, and then a moderately sized bar, which leads into the main dining room. TBH, the design asthetic of the space is a bit of a "mishmash." Is it supposed to be European inspired? A continuation of the Southwestern motif? It's all a bit odd... We had about eight in the party, so staff pushed together two tables for us. We were greeted promptly and were told that the restaurant could accomodate individual checks, as ordering is done with handheld devices. My other observation about Beth's is, I'm not quite sure what "story," the place is trying to tell. The menu focuses on "Bites," which could be interpreted as "appetizers" and only has four "plates," aka "entrees." Our server mentioned while awaiting our orders that Beth's wants diners to share the "Bites" with a spotlight on their cocktail selections. So is Beth's trying to be a tapas bar then? I opted for the recommended Purple Rain which consists of Gin, lavender, lime; mostly because I LOVE a nice herbal Gin. The distinctive flavor of juniper berries from the gin was present, while the floral notes from the lavendar and citrus of the lime balanced out the drink. I was pleasantly surprised. Food started arriving after about 20 min, and visually the barley risotto was quite appealing. Instead of short or medium grain rice, Beth's uses the ancient cereal grain barley. It is slow cooked in stock to produce that slightly chewy, yet not undercooked mouth feel. USDA choice braised beef short ribs was stewed until fork tender, and the dish was finished off with Parmigiano Reggiano, and butter. For $24, the plate was a good portion size and very tasty. I dunno. I sampled some of the small plates such as the Brussel Sprouts, crunchy ravioli, crispy spring roll...and everything was fine. Not outstanding...not terrible...but just fine. The kitchen seems to be competent, so it would be interesting to see a menu where more main dishes were offered for diners who want a more substantial meal. The other thing I'll note is, due to the extremely high ceilings, the main dining space is a deafening echo chamber. I was hoarse by evening's end, since I was literally yelling over not just the background music, but the other nearby diners. Just keep this in mind that if you're seeking a quiet and cozy spot, either dine outdoors or come early. After some reflection, I settle on 4 stars. Service was good with water glasses constantly refilled, dirty dishes removed, to-go boxes offered, and the ability for separate billing. Price wise, for one alcoholic beverage, and one entree my tab with tax and tip came to a bit over $50. Automatic gratuity was added for the table since we had over 5 people. I appreciate the server informing us so we didn't "double tip."

The atmosphere is fun and creative and probably ideal for a date or a group of adults. It might not be the greatest atmosphere for smaller kids or a family on a time budget. Inside is dimly lit with upscale decor including a paneled pop out faux cafe front, maybe French quarter-ish style, wall on one side. On the other is a mural. (I think it was a tree and mountains hidden behind some panels.) If I were to describe it, I would use the words, New Orleans meets modern art. They also have an outdoor space, where the faux cafe wall extends. This would be an ideal place to have an outdoor brunch any day, but this day of course. The menu does say new American, but I think that means that they have a little bit of everything plus steaks and burgers. To start the meal, they dropped an assortment of baked goods for the table, including a biscuit, a mini fruit tart and something that tasted like a blintz. It was carbohydrate heaven. We added a shared a baked brie appetizer that was excellent as well. For the main course we shared a Turkish breakfast plate, as well as some steak and eggs. I washed things down with a Bloody Mary from their brunch drink menu. My steak and eggs were cooked to perfection and the Turkish breakfast was very flavorful. The baked Brie was excellent for sharing and I really liked my bloody Mary. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. A good part of that was the excellent service provided by the staff from start to finish. I think it's a terrific brunch spot and somewhere I would recommend for some fun bites and a couple of drinks.
