I dine at Millie's whenever I'm in the D.C. area, typically 8-10 times a year. I've always had a wonderful experience and the service is always excellent. Even when they're packed, the service remains as fast as can be reasonably expected. The atmosphere is exceptional, the food is amazing, and it's a great place to bring family and friends.

Spacious | Fun | Ice Cream | carrots Spacious - The restaurant is very spacious, featuring both outdoor and indoor areas. When the weather is nice, the indoor space opens all its windows and doors, seamlessly blending with the outdoor area. This setup creates a great atmosphere, especially on summer or fall days. Fun -The restaurant has a great atmosphere with a mix of students, professionals, and others enjoying a fun vibe. Ice Cream - Right next to the restaurant, there's a cute ice cream shop that has a great selection of hard ice cream and delicious milkshakes. It's the perfect spot to wrap up your night, whether you're on a date, hanging out with your kid, or just treating yourself to something sweet. They have all kinds of flavors, from classic vanilla to fun seasonal options, so there's something for everyone. Plus, the friendly staff and cozy seating make it a nice place to enjoy your treat and make some fun memories. Carrots - the absolute highlight of the meal was the glazed carrots. They are the ideal side or appetizer dornthr group. One of the best sides I've had in 2025. Pro tip - They do not have a military discount. Pro tip - they do not have a ton of parking. So budget another 5-10 minutes to your travel.

Millie's was a great restaurant! Even after happy hour, it was packed which is always a good sign. We started with a Froze while waiting for outdoor seating. They were cool and refreshing and probably the best Froze i've has in a while. The only downside was the heat and bugs , it would've been great if they had fans or some kind of bug repellent to make it more comfortable. Now, let's get into the food: We began with the chips and trio dip (guac, queso, and salsa) simple, fresh, and delicious. It was the perfect starter to snack on while we waited. The quesadilla had zucchini in it, which was a refreshing twist. It was flavorful, filling, and a great way to sneak in some veggies. My friend loved it!The elote was creamy and well-seasoned I could've done without the nuts or seeds on top, but I'd still order it again without it. The Rockfish was the star of the night crispy on the outside, perfectly flaky on the inside. It was served over jasmine rice that was green (maybe cilantro-based?) and absolutely delicious. 10/10! We ended dinner with some ice cream from the stand outside the restaurant. I got s'mores, and my friend had vanilla with Oreos. Both were tasty and a fun way to finish off the night. Our server was fantastic friendly and attentive. Overall, we had a great time and I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu!

Food was kind of bland, especially the crab fried rice. Didn't really get the umami taste or flavor. The dish just overall lacked the depth of flavor but I guess it's expected from a place that doesn't specialize in an Asian dish. The quesadillas were decent but nothing worth revisiting. They could get a bit greasy since the peppers, steaks and onions were all sautéed in oil and covered in melted cheese. Overall the quesadilla flavors didn't really meld together for an overall better taste.

I tried a variety of dishes including the lobster dinner, lobster roll, lobster spring roll, and the branzino, and unfortunately each one was just mediocre. None of the dishes stood out in terms of flavor or execution, which was disappointing given how appealing the menu sounded. The atmosphere is nice and the service was solid, but the food just didn't live up to the hype. With such a strong focus on seafood, I expected the lobster dishes especially to shine, but they fell flat. Overall, Millie's felt more like a spot for the vibe than for the food. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT6qm7Bjc/

We had a great meal at Millie's and I am so glad I finally got to try my friend's regular local spot. I had the trio of dips (that queso! ), potstickers, frose (omg!!!), chicken sandwich but grilled and topped things off with s'mores ice cream. Super cute atmosphere and the food is like an elevated Chilis/Fridays and a step below The Smith.

I did that they could take a big group reservation. We were 15 people and they were able to provide separate checks. Ryan was very efficient in taking our orders. I got the riptide, which was amazing and the potstickers. While I liked the sauce, it was a little overpowering. The meat was also cooked variably inside-my first potsticker had a little bit of pink and the last one I ate was a tad overcooked and tough. They were pork and shrimp, though I only tasted pork. Loved my drink and will come back for more!

A great energetic neighborhood vibe with a diverse menu, great service and yummy food! Marjorie was our server and she was wonderful. We had various tacos and sandwiches, plus the shrimp/oyster starter and biscuits with jam. Everything was wonderful -- very impressed with how perfectly cooked and chilled the shrimp were. Lots of thought goes into the sides too -- the bean salad and mixed rice that accompanied the mains were delish. Decor is charming. Staff were plentiful and attentive. Only wish is for salt and pepper on the table. The tacos could have used a bit, and we all like black pepper on our raw oysters.

It's an alright place! Sometimes the service is better than other times!!! Food quality is mediocre and service is not terrible! Overall the dishes we ordered were not something to hold your breath for, but if you are hungry and need to grab a bite, then why not give it a try. My food was kind of on a smaller plate, the avocado was placed on a small piece of toast!!! Was not like your expected avocado multigrain toast. More like a kids size! No joke Prices have gone up sizes went down lol We will make this restaurant our last option, if we had to go again.

I wonder why reviews are so low. We thoroughly enjoyed this place. I thought the lobster roll was yummy and refreshing -- you can get it hot or cold. Cole slaw was okay. The clam chowder was very tasty. Service was fine, we didn't have to make a reservation surprisingly but we were there in between lunch and dinner prime times. It was still pretty packed though.

To stay…read moreby the side of our elderly dog, we are foregoing the experience of dining out, more and more. After we finished eating, she remarked we needed to visit the restaurant sometime. We'll have to look for an opportunity when we are around the dog all day, so she can be on her own for a couple of hours, likely sleeping. Birdsong already is acclaimed. This is much more Thai and Thai American. Like Chinese or Italian cuisine before it, Thai flavors have assimilated to a palate not accustomed to the true strength of the spices. Birdsong is a remedy. They do not offer the pad thai that has become a staple, no longer exotic but to its detriment. (A digression. The history of pad thai, with contested origins, is fascinating. As you delve into these matters, you see how syncretic culture is. You also are exposed to the efforts to fashion a unifying mythology.) We ordered the chicken, the shrimp, the crab fried rice, the papaya salad, and the enhancement. The chicken and the shrimp were quality ingredients, prepared well. Although both proteins were fried, they felt clean. The crab fried rice was one option of many with the rice base. The papaya salad was fresh. The enhancement was radish with "fermented daikon, garlic, red onion, cilantro, palm sugar, and fish sauce scrambled with eggs for a balanced savory and sweet flavor," and the portion was generous: we put it on the rice, then I finished it off in an omelet the next morning. We have traveled to Bangkok. Thai spiciness exceeds what I would endorse, and I love hot dishes. Birdsong was much milder, though with sufficient pepperiness my wife, who does not share my preferences, remarked it was closer to her limit. They will work with you in this respect, and I'm confident I could request something that would test my capabilities. That is, in my book, all positive. The dishes that were mild according to the menu, were mild, but they were flavorful. If you do not like fish sauce, for example, you may not appreciate the offerings, which if they don't have fish sauce have something along those lines. I hope Birdsong fares well.

We were looking forward to eating at Birdsong, which has gotten great reviews. A few friends said…read morethat they went and loved it. But we thought only one of the four dishes we ordered was especially good, I wouldn't order the other three again. The Basil Shrimp - described as "Battered and golden fried" seemed more like tempura. I wouldn't have ordered if I knew. The Tom Yum soup was good, but very pricey at $25. For comparison, a similarly sized, likely an even larger entree Tom Yum soup at Bambu is $14. It had lots of noodles. We were sharing, and asked our server for recommendations- she suggested a second dish with the same noodles. Usually a server points out if diners are ordering two dishes with the same base ingredient (noodles) but our server actually suggested the second one. Seriously? And unfortunately, it was underwhelming, just blah. We left most of it. We got the chocolate crème brûlée, the presentation was very nice, with gilded peanuts on top. The taste was just so so, sweet but not much chocolate flavor. We liked the decor and the atmosphere was nice. We loved the bird mural. Service was mixed. Our server was friendly, but could have been more helpful. First, the recommendation for a second dish with the same noodles was not a good one. We asked if we could share everything, including the soup. We specifically asked if they could put it into bowls for us. They brought two bowls, but we had to wait a while for a spoon to divide it ourselves at the table. She ended up bringing us one of those small soup spoons that you often use for soup at Chinese restaurants. It was around the same size as a regular soup spoon. Apparently they didn't have anything that is more like a ladle, and it was not very useful for portioning out the soup. We thought we'd love this restaurant, but it was a miss for us tonight. Not only that, and this is on us, the only dish with any real nutrition or healthy ingredients was the soup. For one "small plate" appetizer, two entrées and one dessert, the total was just under $100.

I was visiting with a group while staying in Chevy Chase for training, and what should have been an enjoyable evening instead left me feeling degraded, singled out, and deeply unwelcome. Upon entering the establishment, I placed a closed water bottle on the counter while attempting to order a cocktail. Without any explanation, the waiter behind the bar approached me and attempted to confiscate the bottle. At no point prior to this interaction was I informed of any policy regarding outside containers. It was only after I specifically requested to speak with a manager, Teresa, that this policy was mentioned. I find it unacceptable that I had to initiate that conversation myself, rather than being treated with basic courtesy and clear communication from the outset. Shortly after, the same waiter attempted to move my entire part (who are all people of color) outside to the patio. While my group was escorted out, I remained inside briefly to complete my order and speak with Teresa. This sequence of events raised immediate concerns about how we were being treated and why. Once outside, my party was seated in a far corner of the patio and left unattended for over 10 minutes. No one came to serve us. I eventually went back inside to inquire, at which point the same waiter returned and began taking orders. His demeanor toward me was noticeably dismissive. When I ordered the same drink I had just purchased inside, I was told I would be charged differently, with no clear explanation. Despite taking my order, he served everyone else at the table and deliberately excluded me. When I followed up about my drink, I was informed that he and management had decided not to serve me. This decision was never communicated to me directly, nor was any justification provided. Once again, I was forced to ask what was happening, which only compounded the confusion and frustration. The entire experience felt isolating and punitive, as though I was being singled out rather than treated as a valued guest. When Teresa came to the table, she was unable to provide clear answers as to why I was refused service or why no alternative server was assigned if there had truly been an issue. Her lack of accountability and dismissive response only reinforced the impression that this treatment was acceptable within your establishment. I want to be very clear: I have never felt as isolated, disrespected, and berated in a restaurant setting as I did that evening. The handling of this situation, from the waiter's conduct to the manager's failure to address it appropriately, was deeply unprofessional and unacceptable. I expect this matter to be taken seriously. There was a clear breakdown in communication, professionalism, and basic hospitality. I am requesting that this incident be thoroughly reviewed and addressed, including appropriate accountability for both the staff member involved and the manager on duty. I look forward to your response.

The biscuits were delicious, but a bit expensive for the size and amount (4 total). The onion soup was perfectly cooked and delicious. It had a nice amount of cheese and bread, great broth, right amount of onions. Drinks were a glass of wine (which was quite overpriced, in our opinion) and cider from Wyndridge which I really enjoyed and will get again upon our return. For dinner we had the rockfish and the braised short rib, and a side of Mac and cheese. The rockfish was cooked very well, with great flavor in the spices and the sauce. However, asparagus or another vegetable, and quinoa added would have rounded out the dish. It was a small portion. The braised short rib was an amazing dish - you didn't even need a knife to slice it. It literally fell apart. The flavor was also excellent. I'll definitely get this again. The biggest disappointment was the Mac and cheese. I didn't think it was that cheesy, and it had an odd spice (maybe red pepper?) that didn't work for me. We then asked the bartender for our check and asked for it to be separate. He brought it over and plopped it down on the table and said nothing and walked away. So again, I flagged someone down and asked if we could please have separate checks. It took over 30 minutes to get our checks and pay. A 1 hour dinner turned in to 2 and a half hours due to the lack of clear front of house staffing structure and responsibilities and a slow kitchen and food that was just okay but not worth the price. Some items were severely over seasoned while others were not seasoned at all. As for the atmosphere, inside the restaurant is beautiful. However, there is no music at all so you just hear the noise of the kitchen and others talking in the restaurant. If it wasn't for Omar, we probably would have gotten up and left. He is the only one creating a positive experience and actually acknowledging and engaging with customers. Thank you to Omar! A piece of advice, there seems to be a need for front of house staffing to be clearly defined, responsibilities given to each employee, and wait staff sections created and given to waiters to follow.
