I visited here on a Saturday for brunch and was met with a warm greeting. We might've been some of the first customers there, so we were seated right away and our server came by to grab a drink order. The menu isn't extensive but there's something for everyone. I opted for the fried chicken sandwich and wasn't too impressed, as it wasn't a chicken breast but a thigh. I was a bit disappointed, to be honest, but the fries and chipotle mayo were great. (In all fairness I went back and read the menu afterwards and it did say it was a chicken thigh, so user error on my part. That said, the chicken was still dry and the tasted a bit oily.) That said, I do really like the decor and the little store inside -- it's charming and definitely adds to the experience. So while in town visiting family, my niece and I decided to have dinner at Hunterstown. I was very impressed with the Wine selection and definitely with the rosé that I chose. The notes of berries and citrus were absolutely stunning and surprising. I decided to order the black bean burger, which was put together very well. I am Veegan so I was definitely impressed with the composition and Chloe. The manager was absolutely delightful. She made sure that she checked on as she made sure that our order was correct and that everything was perfect. Came here with some friends while visiting DC and it was really good. Nice portions on a menu with great options. Classic pub food with an elevated twist. Great spot for good conversations and nearby parking with validation. If you're looking for an upscale Irish pub with some interesting menu choices, you can't miss with The Hunter's Hound. They did have some off-Irish dishes like the hummus, "Irish Style" Chicken Curry, Fried Chicken Sandwich, and Fettuccine Primavera, but it all looked so good. I'm here for a legal conference with colleagues from work. We came to this Irish pub to get food and drinks and watch my Dodgers in game 1 of the 2024 Workd Series. We had drinks. They have a great bar menu. We also got food. I had Fish and Chips that were great. We had the brussels sprouts and a couple of other small things. This is an Irish themed place with a sports bar vibe, which is exactly what we wanted. We got to watch the game, eat and drink, and see the Dodgers win! Our server was super cool. We had walked by this restaurant several times and saw the TVs and projectors all over inside. We decided to come here to watch the Champions League final and got a great seat near one of the large projector screens. Our server was really nice and was asking us about which team we were cheering for (PSG if you care to know). We tried the fish and chips and the Hound burger as well as an Austin Eastciders pineapple cider. Everything was great! The portions were perfect and the food tasted better than neighboring Clyde's. We finished our meals with the soft serve ice cream (we are suckers for soft serve). The restaurant was lively with people watching the game and gave a good mix of social bar atmosphere while also feeling like a nice place to sit with a group and eat. It's a nice place inside. I was surprised how much we liked the food too. I often find Irish pubs disappointing but my husband loved the beef stew and the bucatini was amazingly delicious. All portions are huge! The rum old fashioned was a delightful twist on a regular old fashioned and I really enjoyed it. Went to Clyde's for brunch one Sunday and there was an hour wait so we came in here. It was pretty empty but there were three servers at the hostess stand. We sat and asked for Irish Coffees (3), a regular coffee and a diet coke. We waited for 20 minutes. We asked about it to our waitress twice. The coffees came lukewarm. We sent to regular coffee back, they must have been sitting there waiting. Again, the place was pretty empty and their was a lot of wait staff. We ordered our food which included a full Irish Breakfast, Fish and Chips and Hair of the Dog. All was good and tasty and the portions were big. BUT I had asked for poached eggs, looking forwarded to the oozy eggs to be soaked up by the Irish bread. But they came hard boiled and dry. The prices were also very high for the meal. This spot is decorated so cute for Christmas. The interior is so clean and welcoming and I just really loved the spot because it was such a nice place to relax. Definitely a nice spot for date night. Brunch with friends. Or even a family dinner. The dining room is big enough to have a large party, but also small enough to be able to hear the person talking to you. The service was super friendly and quick. My favorite bite was the white fish pate, I love all the fixings that it came with. I arrived in town on Sunday around 5pm for work this week. I tried to eat at the Hunter's Hound the last time I was in town, but arrived too late and while the bar was open, the kitchen was closed. I was warmly welcomed as I walked in from the rain and I was by myself and asked to sit at the bar for a bit to eat. I was immediately walked over and had the chair pulled back to sit down. :-) The bar tender was also super friendly and welcoming. I decided on a margarita with mescal (I learned I prefer tequila - preference) and an order of chicken wings. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming as well as decorated for the holiday season which made me smile. The game was on and I was able to sit back, relax and have a casual bit to eat. The wings were good and a much larger portion (sized wings) than I expected. I took what I didn't eat to go. We came here to celebrate the birthday of our Irish friend. We had a great time as we were a large group of friends. The service was good, although they did miss one order, but corrected the situation. The food was good, and they did accommodate my gluten-free needs. I would recommend this for large groups, as they handled the checks very well. They also have many monitors to watch a sports game, and their bar area seems especially happening. The Hunters Hound is a great place and only one of a few British Pubs in the area. My wife and I went here a month ago after my wife's haircut appointment and she got there first and ordered a Kona Pipeline Porter and Deviled Eggs. We then shared the Land & Sea Pate platter and the Yellowfin Tuna Tatare which were wonderful. Our entrees were the Fish & Chips and Beef & Guinness Pie that we also loved and had some leftover pie to take home. We also had a Grolsch and Aslin Power Moves Hazy IPA as well as the Cheeky Charlie and The Snoop cocktails. Our server was also wonderful as well. The ambience is nice as this is a somewhat upscale place which is not surprising given the neighborhood and reservations are recommended as this is a popular spot. We came back again with two of our friends for New Years Eve when the 19th Street Band played for a $20 per person charge. When we came we were greeted with the same waiter who remembered us from before. We had dinner before so we just got an Apple Crumble and Ice Cream Trio, Aslin Volcano Sauce and Cheeky Charlie drinks, and and a Sparkling Rose Special wine that was similar to champagne that was on special to ring in the new year. This is the place that Friendship Heights needed. Although the prices are a little high, I enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service here. Ever since Chadwicks closed, there really hasn't been a neighborhood bar except for Clyde's in the area. For parking, they only gave us a $3 discount ticket so we had to pay $6 to leave after two hours there. Draft beers are $9 each which is priced higher than Clyde's but their cocktails are priced at $14 so that is a better deal imo. The Cheeky Charlie was good as well as the Rum Old Fashioned. We really enjoyed our appetizers especially the Smoked Whitefish Pâté and the Rotisserie Wings. I would take a pass on the Kobe "Pigs in the Blanket" as the pastry was still raw. For entrees, I recommend the Beef & Guinness as my nephew indicated it was really good. Fish and chips were good although just a little greasy for my taste. They are having lots of food specials for St. Patrick's Day so I will have to check it out. read more

I usually expect, as many of us do, that the establishment would excel at all the items listed on a menu when it's this short. I was craving a salad - a SALAD, which doesn't require cooking or much of a craft, was an absolute s*show. The iceberg lettuce was FROZEN AND WILTED. There was ONE egg, and a bit of avocado, sprinkled with very dry and tasteless grilled chicken. Smallest Cobb salad I've ever seen and at $22, my whole body sighed. I'm not hard to please but a frozen salad?! It's worse than airport food. It was so lackluster, I felt compelled to write this review to warn others making the same mistake I did. And ooooooh, mistakes were made. The fish & chips were fine. There was a retirement party on the left and the spot was smaller than expected but the high tops are first come first serve and we were able to nab a 4 seater easily. My first drink (Tito's & club soda) came out wrong- tasted weird and they changed it out for me, which I appreciated. I wouldn't ding them on that. Honestly, I don't think I've written a scathing review before and I feel uncomfortable as I write this but the disappointment was unreal. I have other parts where I was like "this is below average" but I won't mention those for now bc it might've been a one-off and that wouldn't be fair. The decor was nice and had enough screens to make a March Madness fiend happy. Don't forget to get your parking ticket validated on your way out- they cover 2 hours only though. I came here twice last month. This place was in walking distance of where I was staying. The first visit, the three of us came early to catch happy hour. It was advertised on an easel outside. We were seated at a table, so we first thing we did was confirm that we could do HH there. The bar area had customers but the seated area was dead aside from us. They said yes but didn't give us any additional menus so we looked up the HH deals from their website. We waited at least 15 minutes and no one came to the table. Finally, my friend got up to look for someone before we got any service. We all ordered cocktails and apps based off the HH menu. I tried the Jessica Rabbit, deviled eggs, hummus, burrata, and fish and chips. My cocktail was tasty except my cherry garnish on a pick had fallen into my drink with the handle side down. Egg was ok. Was very lackluster. I'm not saying it wasn't tasty but it was purely because I like fried onions. They were such an overpowering topping, you don't taste anything else. If you remove them, you just have a plain old deviled egg slightly on the dry side. Hummus was also ok and plain. I enjoyed all the pickles on the side more than the hummus itself. The burrata was my favorite app. Was still cold but better than hot I suppose. The biggest problem was the imbalance of bread. I think the hummus and burrata each came with 4 pieces of bread. Unless you are a complete monster, there is no way that is nearly enough material. I guess you can argue still eating cheese without bread, but eating hummus by spoon is another story. My entree was super hot and fresh when it came out. Loved it. 3 pieces of fish and lots of chips. Great. If anything, on the bland side. Perhaps that is characteristic of the cuisine. A bottle of malt vinegar was provided which helped. I had a bite of my friends' stew and pasta dishes. Stew seemed good. Pasta wasn't my thing. The fun part was the check. *sarcasm* We were greatly annoyed to learn none of our drinks were HH $8 priced so basically double the cost. The server just said only certain cocktails are $8. Does that also mean only certain beers were discounted? No, because everything else had a description/explanation. If it was select cocktails, why wouldn't you just say that verbally or on the menu. Extremely disappointed with this kind of advertisement/menu/service. Vowed never to return. But I did. I came back just for a late drink with coworkers this time. We just sat at the bar table and I had a cider. The server/bartender was super nice and attentive. 5 stars for him. This part I would do again. Not the other. read more

Great location. Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. Not stroller friendly, had to walk all around the restaurant to a corner where there was a ramp and to eat outdoors there is barely no room for a stroller since they have big umbrellas in between tables that cant be moved. Felt uncomfortable staying there cause of the stroller situation and not being comfortable where we were sat cause it was very uncomfortable, however didn't want to walk to another restaurant.
