Atmosphere and restaurants were very nice. The waiter barely said a word other than "Do you know what you want?" We had to ask for water and he never checked on us during the meal. The food did come out quickly which was good as we were tired from a long day in DC. Food was mid. The risotto had decent flavor but beef and Guinness was not the best, with the meat dry and overcooked. Not horrible but probably won't be going back.

Delicious food, good drinks, good atmosphere, and decent service. Would definitely come back.

Beef and Guinness - tasty and rich!

Came here with some friends while visiting DC and it was really good. Nice portions on a menu with great options. Classic pub food with an elevated twist. Great spot for good conversations and nearby parking with validation. If you're looking for an upscale Irish pub with some interesting menu choices, you can't miss with The Hunter's Hound. FOOD: Coming here with friends we had a variety of food. I had to try the Beef and Guinness though. I mean, such a classic Irish dish. And it was delicious if not a bit rich. The Guinness was a bit strong for me, but it added real depth and flavor to the meat which was tender and cooked just right. The potatoes were delicious and I only wish there was more puff pastry! They did have some off-Irish dishes like the hummus, "Irish Style" Chicken Curry, Fried Chicken Sandwich, and Fettuccine Primavera, but it all looked so good. Also, just a side note - I loved the fries. SERVICE: Good, but not exceptional. Everyone was nice and friendly and the portions were huge. Plating was attractive. COST: Reasonable for what you get. Cost is about $20-$40 per person depending on what you get. Food is high quality and definitely tasty!

I'm here for a legal conference with colleagues from work. We came to this Irish pub to get food and drinks and watch my Dodgers in game 1 of the 2024 Workd Series. We had drinks. They have a great bar menu. We also got food. I had Fish and Chips that were great. We had the brussels sprouts and a couple of other small things. This is an Irish themed place with a sports bar vibe, which is exactly what we wanted. We got to watch the game, eat and drink, and see the Dodgers win! Our server was super cool. She was fine with just drinks for a while. She was attentive. She made sure people got their food and drinks the way they wanted. We had a great time here. It's not a 5-star place. But it's a solid 4-star Irish pub sports bar. Loved it!

We had walked by this restaurant several times and saw the TVs and projectors all over inside. We decided to come here to watch the Champions League final and got a great seat near one of the large projector screens. Our server was really nice and was asking us about which team we were cheering for (PSG if you care to know). We tried the fish and chips and the Hound burger as well as an Austin Eastciders pineapple cider. Everything was great! The portions were perfect and the food tasted better than neighboring Clyde's. We finished our meals with the soft serve ice cream (we are suckers for soft serve). The restaurant was lively with people watching the game and gave a good mix of social bar atmosphere while also feeling like a nice place to sit with a group and eat. The location is great and not far from the metro. Overall, an easy 5/5!

Neighborhood joint only one block from the Friendship Heights Metro. The space is bright, modern, and airy, and the staff are friendly. The food is made with fresh ingredients. We greatly enjoyed our dishes. The portions are quite generous. I'm greatly looking forward to adding this restaurant to our regular lineup in the neighborhood.

Went on St. Patrick's Day and it was super fun and lively. Staff was very friendly. If you are looking for a upscale Irish Pub, this is for sure worth a visit. Food was really good, had corned beef and cabbage, and a corned beef sandwich. Both portions were huge! My favorite part was the soft serve ice cream with a chocolate flake in it. I ate so many of these in the UK and it tasted exactly the same. Lots of validated parking is a bonus too.

The Hunters Hound has the warm inviting atmosphere of an old English pub. The service is prompt and very friendly. The food, outstanding! It's right on Wisconsin Ave, so it's perfect for lunch or after work gatherings.

We chose this spot for Irish New Year (new year's celebration at 7pm when it's midnight in Ireland!), and I had never been before. I was impressed with the decor and atmosphere when we walked in. It's a nice place inside. I was surprised how much we liked the food too. I often find Irish pubs disappointing but my husband loved the beef stew and the bucatini was amazingly delicious. All portions are huge! The rum old fashioned was a delightful twist on a regular old fashioned and I really enjoyed it. For new year celebration, they gave everyone some hats and blowers and even a small Prosecco toast for free! Service was a little spotty but they were busy for the event. I would go back for NYE or any other time too!

Went to Clyde's for brunch one Sunday and there was an hour wait so we came in here. It was pretty empty but there were three servers at the hostess stand. We sat and asked for Irish Coffees (3), a regular coffee and a diet coke. We waited for 20 minutes. We asked about it to our waitress twice. The coffees came lukewarm. We sent to regular coffee back, they must have been sitting there waiting. Again, the place was pretty empty and their was a lot of wait staff. We ordered our food which included a full Irish Breakfast, Fish and Chips and Hair of the Dog. All was good and tasty and the portions were big. BUT I had asked for poached eggs, looking forwarded to the oozy eggs to be soaked up by the Irish bread. But they came hard boiled and dry. The prices were also very high for the meal. Waffles for $14? Won't be back.

This spot is decorated so cute for Christmas. The interior is so clean and welcoming and I just really loved the spot because it was such a nice place to relax. Definitely a nice spot for date night. Brunch with friends. Or even a family dinner. The dining room is big enough to have a large party, but also small enough to be able to hear the person talking to you. The service was super friendly and quick. My favorite bite was the white fish pate, I love all the fixings that it came with. There is a parking garage in the shopping center and the restaurant will validate your parking up to two hours.

Not a huge selection of taps, but a good variety of categories of beer. The wings were pretty amazing and very meaty, and the grilled octopus atop a well balanced spring vegetable medley was on point. Happy hour is from I think 3-6:30, which includes $2 off tap beers and 20% off the bar food menu, which includes the items above. Definitely worth checking out. Service was attentive and friendly as well, and the bartender went out of her way to ask if I wanted a refill before happy hour ended.

I arrived in town on Sunday around 5pm for work this week. I tried to eat at the Hunter's Hound the last time I was in town, but arrived too late and while the bar was open, the kitchen was closed. I was warmly welcomed as I walked in from the rain and I was by myself and asked to sit at the bar for a bit to eat. I was immediately walked over and had the chair pulled back to sit down. :-) The bar tender was also super friendly and welcoming. I decided on a margarita with mescal (I learned I prefer tequila - preference) and an order of chicken wings. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming as well as decorated for the holiday season which made me smile. The game was on and I was able to sit back, relax and have a casual bit to eat. The wings were good and a much larger portion (sized wings) than I expected. I took what I didn't eat to go. I would absolutely come back next time I am in town for work and looking for a place to relax and feel comfortable eating on my own. Thanks for making me feel welcomed.

To stay…read moreby the side of our elderly dog, we are foregoing the experience of dining out, more and more. After we finished eating, she remarked we needed to visit the restaurant sometime. We'll have to look for an opportunity when we are around the dog all day, so she can be on her own for a couple of hours, likely sleeping. Birdsong already is acclaimed. This is much more Thai and Thai American. Like Chinese or Italian cuisine before it, Thai flavors have assimilated to a palate not accustomed to the true strength of the spices. Birdsong is a remedy. They do not offer the pad thai that has become a staple, no longer exotic but to its detriment. (A digression. The history of pad thai, with contested origins, is fascinating. As you delve into these matters, you see how syncretic culture is. You also are exposed to the efforts to fashion a unifying mythology.) We ordered the chicken, the shrimp, the crab fried rice, the papaya salad, and the enhancement. The chicken and the shrimp were quality ingredients, prepared well. Although both proteins were fried, they felt clean. The crab fried rice was one option of many with the rice base. The papaya salad was fresh. The enhancement was radish with "fermented daikon, garlic, red onion, cilantro, palm sugar, and fish sauce scrambled with eggs for a balanced savory and sweet flavor," and the portion was generous: we put it on the rice, then I finished it off in an omelet the next morning. We have traveled to Bangkok. Thai spiciness exceeds what I would endorse, and I love hot dishes. Birdsong was much milder, though with sufficient pepperiness my wife, who does not share my preferences, remarked it was closer to her limit. They will work with you in this respect, and I'm confident I could request something that would test my capabilities. That is, in my book, all positive. The dishes that were mild according to the menu, were mild, but they were flavorful. If you do not like fish sauce, for example, you may not appreciate the offerings, which if they don't have fish sauce have something along those lines. I hope Birdsong fares well.

We were looking forward to eating at Birdsong, which has gotten great reviews. A few friends said…read morethat they went and loved it. But we thought only one of the four dishes we ordered was especially good, I wouldn't order the other three again. The Basil Shrimp - described as "Battered and golden fried" seemed more like tempura. I wouldn't have ordered if I knew. The Tom Yum soup was good, but very pricey at $25. For comparison, a similarly sized, likely an even larger entree Tom Yum soup at Bambu is $14. It had lots of noodles. We were sharing, and asked our server for recommendations- she suggested a second dish with the same noodles. Usually a server points out if diners are ordering two dishes with the same base ingredient (noodles) but our server actually suggested the second one. Seriously? And unfortunately, it was underwhelming, just blah. We left most of it. We got the chocolate crème brûlée, the presentation was very nice, with gilded peanuts on top. The taste was just so so, sweet but not much chocolate flavor. We liked the decor and the atmosphere was nice. We loved the bird mural. Service was mixed. Our server was friendly, but could have been more helpful. First, the recommendation for a second dish with the same noodles was not a good one. We asked if we could share everything, including the soup. We specifically asked if they could put it into bowls for us. They brought two bowls, but we had to wait a while for a spoon to divide it ourselves at the table. She ended up bringing us one of those small soup spoons that you often use for soup at Chinese restaurants. It was around the same size as a regular soup spoon. Apparently they didn't have anything that is more like a ladle, and it was not very useful for portioning out the soup. We thought we'd love this restaurant, but it was a miss for us tonight. Not only that, and this is on us, the only dish with any real nutrition or healthy ingredients was the soup. For one "small plate" appetizer, two entrées and one dessert, the total was just under $100.
