Chili dog

Juneberry Garage was hoot! It is mostly an outside food/drinks establishment but I saw that there was also a small dining room. The cool thing about the outside area is that there is an adults only section (though more than one parent walked their toddler through the area, strangely). The food we had was "ok" nothing too special, but not bad, mostly there for the vibes, drinks, and being outside. The fries with the au poivre sauce felt like a miss as the sauce didn't really remind me of actual au poivre except that it had black pepper in it. The ranch sauce that we got with the onion rings was much better. The staff made this experience better. They were fun and welcoming. I'd say, to go if you want basic food and beer/drinks in a beer garden vibe. Also great for dog watching as there is a dog park attached. I'd say, if you have recently moved into the area (5 years or less) and/or moved to The Parks at Walter Reade, have small kids and/or a dog, or like to bike, you would definitely rate Juneberry much higher.

Sausage pizza

Solid place in the neighborhood! Especially great when the weather is nice and you can sit outside. Lots of kids there too; good family spot. We sat inside at the bar and got a couple bites. A friend got the chicken sandwich and really liked it. I had the sausage pizza and the Thai cucumber salad. Wish the cucumber salad was marinated a little more, all the juices were on the bottom. The pizza was fantastic! Perfect. We saw a few people order the burger and definitely think you should try it; looked so good! Beer selection is also solid, we had the sour which was very good and refreshing.

Spicy Hawaiian pizza

We finally got a chance to go to Juneberry last night and it did not disappoint! The inside was super cute with plenty of bar seating! The food was amazing! We had the spicy Hawaiian pizza and chili cheese fries! I'm allergic to beans so it was nice that for once the chili didn't have beans in it! Our bartender was so friendly and attentive throughout our time there! Just amazing service! We will be going back again!

It's definitely small, intimate, and cozy. Vibe from decor and style is definitely old school. Think exposed brick and vintage signage. Great charm. Love the mural on the back patio. I'm talking six bucks for a beer or ten bucks for a frozen boozy coffee. Nice selection of beers, spirits, and cocktails...all at around ten bucks! They even have snack foods like bagel bites, popcorn, chips, and a couple of other items. Service is cool-customers are treated like regulars even if you're a once or twice a year visitor like me. Don't expect to come here and order a high end cocktail or the complex wines from California. This is very much a beer establishment. I wasn't really feeling drinking the night that I met up with everyone but enjoyed they had a cooler with water to refill on my own. The inside bar has great AC, which was much needed on the hot and humid summer night we visited. There is also a back patio area. I'm glad my group decided not to go back there between the humidity and smoking in the back. There is also food on the menu, but it's fairly basic. i wasn't feeling it so just ended up eating when I got home. Overall, it's a very fun and hipster space that you might expect in a city that isn't DC! That's a plus and why I think this gets 5 stars alone on that fact!

Although the space is on the smaller side, there was plenty of bar seating, an ample number of booths and the drink prices were a good deal. If I lived a little closer, I could see myself dropping by much more frequently. T he only downside that felt apparent to everyone I came here with, was the strong smell of fried fish. I personally wasn't too phased, assuming it as part of their menu. But the longer we settled in we realized it was coming in from an adjacent business which is incredible hard to control. With that being said, we smelled like fried fish when we got into my friends car and the smell followed us everywhere for the rest of the night. Like I said, I understand that's a hard thing to control but it may be something to be mindful of if you've got anywhere you need to go after. Overall though, totally in love with the laid back vibes here and would definitely return.

Dinner at San Matteo, yes please and thank you!…read more Good food and service was memorable adding San Matteo to the list of favorites. The front patio is cute and a nice spot to sit on a nice day. We entered the restaurant, pasted the bar and made our way to the back. We were pleasantly surprised with a nice outdoor feeling to dine at. We were immediately greeted by our waiter, given water and warm bread with olive oil. To kick off our meal everyone had different ideas of what they were craving so we went with three starters. PROSCIUTTO E MOZZARELLA for one. It that had the usual meat and cheese board with nuts, mini bread crackers and jam. I liked how pistachio pieces were found in the meats and cheese. [5/5] BEEF CARPACCIO which is a family favorite of ours was a must try. The tender slices of beef with arugula, with sliced capers and celery. It reminded us of our trips to Italy. [5/5] FRITTO MISTO came next. This mixed lite battered bowl of seafood goodness with a little spice delight. It had calamari, fish, shrimp, garlic, zucchini and chilies. I really liked how the batter was lite which says a lot because I love really crispy anything. [ 5/5] On to the main courses, we proceeded with different pasta noodle dishes. BUCATINI BOLOGNESE one of my favorite pasta noodles was my selection. The noodles were al dente and the sauce and meat were excellent. [5/5] PAPPARDELLE CINGHIALE was my husband's pick. The pappardelle noodles were al dente and nicely accompanied the meat with the tasty sauce. Topped with ricotta; the dish was full of flavor. [5/5] CHICKEN ALFREDO was the last pick. Not an authentic Italian dish; however, hats off to the chef for making this for our picky eater in the family. The sauce was creamy and delicious. Noodles were cooked perfectly. [5/5] Surprisingly we had just enough room for a sweet ending - an Affogato. Whoaza! The espresso was yummy; put some hair on our picky eater's chest. It had a hint of licorice flavor that was unique. Let's not forget the San Matteo Spritz. Smoky and highly enjoyable. I loved it and will order again when I return. Overall, San Matteo hit all the check boxes for our lovely family dinner. The staff were attentive and never left us wanting more water, food or waiting long. The food was tasty. It seems upscale with a casual feel. Some people were dressed for date night while others were having a casual meal with family or friends. The seating options of areas were all unique in its own way. Front patio for a nice day, from the front indoor dining area for maybe a more intimate feel, bar and table top area for a drink and appetizer going solo or with a friend; and lastly the back dining area for a a bigger group to enjoy your meal. Mixing up the dining options that suits you. I'll be back to try other dishes.

There was a folded standing menu on the bar and the first item there said the frozen pina colada was a special for the month so I was happy they still had it. What I got wasn't frozen and tasted awful, then I noticed another person at the bar with a frozen drink and looked up the picture on tiktok and saw that my drink was indeed in the wrong cup. So I asked the bartender (maybe I forgot to say frozen) if this was a regular pina colada and he said "no you ordered drink name xyz" with mezcal (which is why it tasted bad to me) I said no I didn't, I ordered the pina colada and he proceeded to argue with me with an attitude. I'm like dude the music is so loud in here, just admit you didn't hear me. I know what I ordered. I can't make up a drink name for something I don't know exists because I never looked at the flat menus he handed me. I had to take one star off because that just killed the vibe.

While they serve many of the same dishes, the atmosphere couldn't feel more different. Walking inside feels like being transported to a different world. The flowing fabric draped from the ceiling creates the feeling of sitting beneath an elegant tent, making the entire space feel intimate, luxurious, and unlike anywhere else. The cocktails were outstanding. I ordered the Farmer's Market after our server, Orlando, described it as tasting like "your healthy green monster juice... but with alcohol." He absolutely nailed it. Fresh, vibrant, herbaceous, and incredibly refreshing. My friend ordered The Serpent and an espresso martini. Even as someone who's picky about espresso martinis, I have to admit this one was exceptional--light, balanced, and dangerously easy to drink. I only had a few sips (I'm very sensitive to caffeine), but they were worth every one of them. We finished the evening with tea served with drops of absinthe, which was a memorable and elegant ending to an already incredible night. A special thank you to Orlando for making us feel so welcome. We sat, talked for hours, and didn't want the night to end. If you're visiting Maydan, don't make the mistake of heading home afterward. Walk across the street. You'll be glad you did.

Black owned business…read more I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and I'm glad that I finally did. First, don't expect table side service, you have to use a QR code to order your meal and put in an "order" to speak with someone. While this wasn't the best, it worked for what we needed which was to ask questions about the menu. Next, you cannot get a glass of wine during the weekend brunch/lunch but you can purchase a bottle and take the rest home. Lastly, there was nobody at the front door so we simply walked into the restaurant and sat ourselves. Beautiful restaurant however, more on the speakeasy/rustic side. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let's get into why I gave this place a good rating. Well, the wine selection and pasta were enough to make me beyond happy. But the cost was a bit questionable. Pasta- shrimp and caviar (can't remember the sauce) but know this dish was hearty, bursting with flavor, and freshly prepared. It was absolutely delicious with every bite. Wine selection- I ordered a remarkable bottle of 2022 white wine and the citrus and stone fruits made it perfect for the shrimp and caviar. The prices for both the bottle and pasta were really expensive but honestly, I didn't feel bad because I enjoyed both. Now, I do plan on visiting during hours when I can order a glass of wine because with the cost of the food and the cost of the bottles, it wasn't cost-effective for a single diner at all. Hope to be back soon!

It's a wine bar! God forbid you'd like to try something without spending at least $50 on a bottle. More annoyingly, I think they do offer wine by the glass but you can only get it from the bar. Now, you can order cocktails from the bar and you can order food from the kitchen, but somehow wine by the glass is an impossible ask. I understand it's probably a business decision to maximize revenue but there are plenty of wine bars in the area that aren't this annoying and I'd encourage people to go there rather than here.

Yelp helps me to discover this place, and even though there was no happy hour at the time, it was a nice stop. The menu is primarily mexican, but I see some Salvadorian on there too (mainly pupusas). I didn't see an option for single tacos, so I opted for just one loroco pupusa. The event I was going to was food, so I wanted to keep it light. I wanted to try a drink too, and just opted for a regular margarita. When I was given the option of either a regular or a large, I had to go with the latter. The margarita came in one of those delightful chalices, and I got a tajin rim. The pupusa was delicious, but this was one of the few times I had to eat it with a knife and fork because it was so hot, and a sauce made it kind of messy. It was great otherwise! It was the perfect amount of food for me at the time. While I was there, a few parties came through and mainly sat outside. I was the only one inside, and the staff were lovely. I don't find myself up there very often, but I would return. Some of the items are pricey -- $4 pupusas are a perfect example.
