So my family and I have been to San Mateo nine times since it opened in 2023. The food is ridiculously good and the servers are excellent! And it is sooo beautiful inside the restaurant. My absolute favorite is the frutti di mare (seafood pasta), which is packed with seafood, squid-ink pasta, and a broth/butter sauce that is FIRE. Our second and third favorites were the octopus appetizer, and seafood manicotti. My family and friends have also had the lemon-butter pasta, the mushroom pasta dish, the spinach, and the broccolini. All of them were hits.

If you like to eat in peace, Sunday night is definitely one of those nights at San Matteo. Modern atmosphere, friendly staff, efficient service, plenty street parking. Prosciutto melon and smoked burrata appetizer were pretty good, but only wish there are more melon came with. The seafood squid ink pasta was on point. Seafood was fresh and flavor was delicious. And don't forget to try some of their specialty cocktails. Overall experience is a thumbs up .

The food is really delicious!! Started with complimentary focaccia and it was so tender and flavorful. They were very generous with refills as well! Everything looked delicious and the portions were reasonable enough to be full and not so large that you will have leftovers. The branzino was really well done; incredibly flavorful and meaty. The pasta was perfectly al dente and tasted homemade and fresh. The service was slightly confused and not as smooth as it could've been but there were no errors and everything worked out well. At one point there was a question of which of the three coffees we ordered was decaf, but everyone managed to sleep that night so we assume they got it right! The front and back rooms have a slightly different vibe but both are nice and lively. Overall would definitely come back for a solid Italian meal.

    Frutti di mare... simply amazing!

Very good food! This block has seen many restaurants come and go, hoping this one stays as it was on point. Good wine, delicious pasta!

This restaurant was impressive, best Italian food and drinks we've had for a long time! We shared two pastas, the funghi and the pumpkin raviolis which were delicious! Very friendly welcome and great attentive service. I would definitely eat there again!

I think this place has 5-star potential! The space is lovely and the back patio is a light and airy treat. The salads were perfect and the grilled octopus is one of the best preparations I've had in recent memory. The lasagne was amazing but the carbonara wasn't great. We looked at other dishes coming out and i have my next time pics already! I gave feedback to the bartender and server on my way out and I hope next time the pasta is on point. One other note - they do offer kids options but no one mentioned it to me nor did they provide a kids menu.

Overall, foods are pretty good, a little slow but very fresh made, especially seafoods, not from frozen. Cons: their free water is from the faucet directly, without purifying, not taste good

The food was alright but not worth the price paid. The service was pretty hands off and we were one of the few customers there.

Terrific pasta, friendly service. Great local/family restaurant. Only issue for us was that the back dining room is way too brightly lit.

Both DJs were a vibe and definitely had me and friends there way longer than we anticipated. The only reason I took away a star is because the air conditioner didn't seem to be working. They did have huge fans in there to try and cool it down but they didn't seem to work. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by Entitlement Lounge. You won't be disappointed!

So off we went. We had a lovely time. The place was atmospheric and loungey, the service personable, the food very good. Overall a good choice for a special occasion. I enjoyed the food, all cooked over an open fire, but honestly something about it was just shy of transcendent. I think it's a little TOO flavorful. The spices feel a bit overwrought and lacking in nuance, so that there is not much difference in flavor between the dishes. The bread is excellent though, and helped to balance out those strong flavors. The two restaurants share a kitchen, so I think in future I would dine at Maydan, which is where the hearth actually is (all the food served at Medina is walked across the alleyway from Maydan) and choose Medina as a cocktail bar that also has food.

I'd recommend trying to come a bit earlier in the night or on a slightly off day -- we came by around 8 PM on a Thursday -- and you might be able to slip in with no or minimal wait. We were initially placed at a standing table, then relocated to a proper table when one opened up after about 30 minutes. It is a smidge loud, but still manageable, and I love the cozy, homey atmosphere created by the dim lighting, almost industrial architecture mixed with old fashioned bookshelves (which double as bathroom doors), and candles. They have a short menu of custom cocktails you can choose from, or you can also ask for any of the classics and/or tell the bartender what you typically enjoy and let them come up with a good fit. We tried a smattering of cocktails, including two from their menu, a whiskey sour, and a bee sting (which the bartender selected for us based on our general preferences). Each one was expertly crafted and extremely tasty, and made so much better by the ambiance.

Yelp helps me to discover this place, and even though there was no happy hour at the time, it was a nice stop. The menu is primarily mexican, but I see some Salvadorian on there too (mainly pupusas). I didn't see an option for single tacos, so I opted for just one loroco pupusa. The event I was going to was food, so I wanted to keep it light. I wanted to try a drink too, and just opted for a regular margarita. When I was given the option of either a regular or a large, I had to go with the latter. The margarita came in one of those delightful chalices, and I got a tajin rim. The pupusa was delicious, but this was one of the few times I had to eat it with a knife and fork because it was so hot, and a sauce made it kind of messy. It was great otherwise! It was the perfect amount of food for me at the time. While I was there, a few parties came through and mainly sat outside. I was the only one inside, and the staff were lovely. I got pancakes without blueberries, 1 egg, and bacon. Everything is a la cart. I was expecting Big Box pancakes. These were anything but! They were perfectly cooked with a light crisp, very dense but airy. Vanilla sewn in each bite. They were THICK too. I was pleasantly surprised. Initially thought the price was exorbitant but the taste and appeal made up for it. Eggs were scrambled to perfection and seasoned too. I requested salt before I tasted them. So glad I didn't add any. Bacon was regular nothing major to rotate. Now the Sakura Latte wasn't as pretty as the one on Insta but it was delicious none the less. Not sweet but no earthy either. Cherry after taste but smooth due to the milk. I did add a sugar free vanilla syrup. The Cafe is beautiful.
