Oh Lucyyyyyyyyyyy! How quickly you've become my newest HH spot! First, my amazing man surprised me with a visit during my birthday week. After months of always mentioning this place, it was a blast to see it in person. Service was great! Maria sat us upon arrival and later took our orders. This place is like a hidden art gem off Florida Ave. The decor sparks conversation as I felt a high level of speakeasy vibes when I walked through the door. It's definitely a date night hit. For drinks: I ordered the espresso martini and my boyfriend ordered the bacon old-fashioned. Bacon old-fashioned: my boyfriend raved that this drink was a hit! One of the best he's had! I'll brag and say that he is an old-fashioned connoisseur so I trust his judgement. The espresso martini is now on my list of top drinks in DC and a huge part of that was having Maria explain to us that the powdered 3 on top represented the old Italian way of placing 3 coffee beans on top of liquor. They used 3 coffee beans then but the bartender used espresso powder at Lucy. Either way, the drink was SPECTACULAR!!!!! I later ordered a glass of their crisp white wine and that also hit the spot. We were there for happy hour and decided to try a few things: Arancini Siciliani: hands down my favorite dish! The ground beef inside and the mozzarella oozing out provided comfort and taste in each bite!!!! Steak tartare: this wasn't my favorite dish and part of it was because it lacked flavor. My boyfriend said that the balance of salt to the fattiness in the steak tartare came from the capers. Sadly, I'm not a capers fan lol so it was hard to get me to try it. Margarita (not on HH menu): AMAZING! This is truly some delicious pizza. As a New Yorker, I judge pizzas harshly but this wasn't the traditional version, it was a beautifully thin slice with the right balance of flavors and freshness from the basil leaves on top. I could have ate this all night if one slice wasn't filing enough. Definitely planning to drop in for more HH drinks and pizza. They also informed us that they have live music on some nights so I'm looking forward to that. read more

We had just moved to the neighborhood in the middle of the worst snowstorm and desperately needed somewhere close to escape the house. We stumbled into Lucy Bar.... and it's truly an incredible neighborhood gem. The pizza is outstanding, the vibe is effortlessly cool and cozy, and the service is consistently spectacular. When we eat there, we usually split the Nonna's Meatballs, the pappardelle, and the Prosciutto pizza. It might be my favorite pizza in DC. Even if you're not staying for dinner, the bar alone is worth a visit. It's the perfect neighborhood spot - great for a casual drink, a date night, or catching up with friends. What an unexpected delight! After walking up 14th street looking for a place to get a pre-dinner cocktail outside, we were out of options when we stumbled upon Lucy Bar. Came to Lucy for dinner with a girlfriend around 6pm on a Thursday and had a great time! Lucy Bar is all about the vibes. They have live jazz that starts at 7pm and happy hour that goes until 7pm. The pizza was a real let down and were almost sure it wasnt the right one as there was no hot honey or sausage on it as the description read. Found this cute gem walking around the neighborhood on a Sunday. The decor is super cute and trendy with flashy lights, plants, and vintage paintings, not to mention their giant windows that open to the street and you can sit and people watch while eating. They had an apertivo menu going where we could try multiple plates and a cocktail for $27. You don't get to choose, so it's a bit of a surprise but everything is centered around Italian. While it was fun and the food was flavorful, there was a number of heavily fried and cheesy dishes, which was a bit overly heavy for me. There is a lady's comment (Claudia) made on May 27, 2026 that is virtually spot on with my experience. I still like Lucy Bar and its sister pizza spot next door is tasty and welcoming. I go to both more than most, but generally get the same things. An off-menu margarita and a pizza or pasta. The latter two won't blow your mind, but reasonably good. So, a couple of nights ago, I took a friend out and decided to go for the 50-layer ox-tail lasagna and the bacon old-fashioned. Just like Claudia said, I too got a bacon old-fashioned where I couldn't taste a single bit of bacon. I guarantee you there was none. (Capital Burger on the other hand, makes a terrific one.) And I had never noticed the ox-tail lasagna on the menu (and its very expensive of course) but it sounded great. I was thinking more like L'Ardente. Nope. It was mushy, over-cooked, lukewarm in the middle, tasted like any other cut of lasagna. At $38, that's an expensive miss. Why even bother to call it 50-layers when it clearly didn't look like it, and you had to dig beneath a gloop of sauce to even see anything. The ambience, vibe, music, bartenders are good. And the drinks usually are very good too. I like Lucy Bar. But this experience even left me feeling like I might not be back for awhile. I'm not mad. Just once burned, twice shy. Kinda makes me sad I even have to write this review. But its just honest. For the record, I would never say to avoid the place. Go there. But just skip the bacon old-fashioned and definitely skip that expensive mess of a lasagna. Get a pour of bourbon neat and a pizza. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place absolutely earned it. First, they overcharged me for two drinks I never ordered. On top of that, they put hot honey on pizzas that didn't call for it, completely ruining the order. We also had to send a drink back, as it was filled only 3/4 of the way. Then came the bill: they not only tacked on a processing fee (understandable but should be mentioned) they then also had the nerve to charge a tip on top of that fee -- completely dishonest. Happy to tip well, but not on a processing fee that wasn't even mentioned. When I called to clear things up, instead of apologizing or fixing it over the phone, they tried to force me to come in person, never once saying "sorry." The person I spoke to took down my name but never bothered to call me back. I had to wait a full week and make another call just to get my own money back. Even then, there was no explanation, for the shady charges and no goodwill gesture like a gift card or discount for the hassle. The last call was even with the manager. Between the botched food, shady billing practices, and terrible customer service, I would strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant. There are plenty of places that value their customers -- this is not one of them, which is a disappointment as my friends and I were regulars. read more

Great service and cute atmosphere. Vibe is chill and welcoming. Food was hit and miss. The salads were incredible and the lamb pasta was tasty. However the cacio e pepe is 100% not cacio e pepe. At best it's fettuccine Alfredo with some pepper. Not a lot of flavor. The veal tortellini were pretty good but super salty. The most disappointing thing was the cheese / margarita pizza. We came in a little early but they were still able to seat us at the other end of the place. It's a super bright and loud place but wasn't too big. For drinks we got the Aperol Spritz, Rum & Pear, Giulio Said No, and a glass of Prosecco. We weren't too hungry but couldn't help and check out the pizzas while we were here too. We got the Roni My Ronies, Monalizza, and the Trufflelicious to share between the four of us. I got the Rum & Pear and it was a solid drink. Slight pear flavor but could definitely taste the lemon. All the pizzas were so good. Just a perfect crust on each of them and just the right amount of toppings. If I had to pick one, it would be the Roni My Ronies. Just the right amount of cheese and pepperonis that cupped up perfectly. Service staff was on point and checked up on us a good amount. When you want to try going to Franklin Hall during the Women's world Cup, you should probably count on trying to get there an hour early to avoid the line trying to get inside. The other alternative was right next door, Lucy Bar. What a hidden gem and a second best to seeing the World Cup. I met up with a friend to watch the game and getting a seat at the bar was perfect. We couldn't have planned a better night and had our own tv in front of us to get up close and personal. We started off with an Lucy Spritz which had Hayman's gin, Campari, Tumeric-orange syrup, lemon juice, prosecco. Not my usual, but wanted to change it up a bit. My usual is an Old Fashioned so you can see this was a big departure and a welcoming drink which reminds me of summer - light and refreshing. I had two of these and didn't realize that the alcohol would catch up with me, but it did. However, we ordered a pizza, the Monalizza which had mozzarella, ricotta, spicy 'nduja sausage, roasted tomatoes and Mike's hot honey. I enjoyed the flavors of this pizza and the dough was nice and soft. A great combo of flavor and who wouldn't love ricotta on their pizza?! Overall a great place that has a good ambiance with low lighting, great zen-like furniture and good vibe. Fun new spot worth a visit. The design of the space is amazing, with long open windows providing fresh air, and tons of seating. There are bar seats, tables, stools for window seating, and a few tables outside. The lights were down low, and the beats were popping, so a nice mood was set immediately. We visited around 9:00 pm on a Saturday. The place had lots of life, but there were still plenty of open seats available, no reservations needed. They are sister establishments with the pizza place next door, Slice & Pie, and you can order pizza at Lucy. Pizza and cocktails are an unbeatable combination you don't see often enough. For drinks, they are known for their frozen pina coladas and orange crushes, but they have lots of unique cocktails available. Their focus is twists on classics. My wife had a black magic, which is an old fashioned variation with a hint of allspice and saffron. She really enjoyed it. It came out looking deep purple and tasted boozy and delicious. The cin cyn is a negroni riff with cynar and grapefruit bitters. Very refreshing if you're a fan of bitter drinks. After eating, we shared an espresso martini as well, and their take is one of the best in town. It is definitely different than any other espresso martini you'll find, which we appreciated. It has salted agave and "mole spices," which give it a very slight cinnamony taste. Yummy. The drinks are priced from $11-14 apiece. There are a few draft beers and tons of wines by the glass or bottle available as well, if that's your thing. What puts them over the top is the food. Their garlic knots are crisp on the outside but soft on the inside, super fresh. Don't skip them. We also shared a pizza, the 'roni ($16). It came with four large slices of thin crust pizza with crsip, thick crust. It was a good portion for sharing - we split the knots and pizza and were both full when we were done. The pizza is solid, good amount of pepperoni, and a perfect pairing with the cocktails. The menu has lots of red and white options to choose from. It seems like we've become spoiled with new pizza options the past couple years, between Martha Dear, Sonnys, Lupo Pizzeria, the thin crust options are through the roof, and Lucy's take is on par with these others. The only negative remark we have is about service. The first guy to serve us, the guy with a pony tail and glasses, was super sweet and attentive. About halfway through our meal, though, he left, and his replacement was terrible. He didn't pay attention to anyone at the bar despite it not being busy. We had to flag him down to order, and he made a show of how annoyed he was to have to serve us, and we weren't the only ones who got that treatment. That issue aside, we had a nice time and will try them again. read more

Our server Rachele was rude and was pushing us to pay the check while we were literally eating our food and had only been there 40 minutes. I understand it's a small restaurant with little table turn- but pay your employees more so they don't have to treat customers like this.
