We really wanted to like Lucy Bar, which has a beautiful aesthetic and cute patio, but we were disappointed by the food and service. Service - they were severely short staffed it seemed. I counted only five people working the entire dining room/patio, and that included the Host and Bartender. The servers themselves were excellent and knowledgable but clearly overwhelmed and overworked - not sustainable. We waited a while to get seated even with a reservation, to get water, to get drinks, to get food, etc. So definitely, a place to go to for a leisurely meal! We pretended like we were in Italy for real! Just be prepared to go with the flow when you go. The food - this is where it gets really disappointing. For $20-30 entrees, I really expect more. We spent $65 per person, including cocktails, appetizers and dessert, and it was money I wish I could have back to be honest. The cocktails were delicious. We had croquettes, beet salad, and meatballs. They were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The beet salad was the best. For entrees, we shared the Monalizza (very good but I think the crust was slightly undercooked, still delicious), pappardelle (fine but I can make it at home with equal results), the Oxtail pasta (good but slightly under seasoned)... and finally...Stanley Tucci's "favorite" fettucine, which was terrible. I truly regret not sending it back and asking for a different entree or our money back, and that's on me. However, this pasta was literally not seasoned. It tasted like nothing. I really think they forgot to add an ingredient like pecorino romano or just plain old salt. Mistakes happen and again, that's our fault for not sending it back and letting the restaurant know, but for a very simple dish that I can make four delicious servings of at home for the same price as one bland bowl at Lucy Bar...it was disappointing. The dessert was fine but not great! We had the tiramisu which was standard and tasty! The salted caramel molten cake was not molten in the middle unfortunately and I could not taste the salted caramel at all. If you're looking to treat yourself to a nice meal where you plan to spend almost $100, I would look elsewhere! read more

The food is delicious. The pizza's have vegan cheese available for all their options. They took dairy allergies seriously and helpful. The atmosphere is amazing and the open windows offer a beautiful breeze. read more

I LOVE Lucy. This is such a fun new spot. The pizzas are perfect to split between two people. We love to get the monalizza with hot honey. The grandma's meatballs are a must-get app. Their cocktails are made with love and you can tell. totally a 4.75 place, there is live music some nights and it can get a little loud if your sitting close by! read more

Went with my girlfriend. Her pizza was great and gluten free crust was solid. Service and ambiance was good. However I'd caution against the oxtail pasta "signature" dish. Was the most expensive entree and I finished it before she was done with her first slice. More of an appetizer than an entree. Taste was great but not nearly enough food for the price. read more

I'm someone who drinks because it's a social activity, not because I like drinking. I rarely can stomach more than one cocktail because of the alcohol taste... BUT I had 2 cocktails I actually liked at Lucy!!! The basil gimlet and the le voisin were both unique and delicious. My partner had the black magic and cin cyn and really liked the cin cyn. This place has SO much potential. I've been here at least 6 times at both busy and dead times. The food is stellar. The drinks are good. The prices are good. The service is SEVERELY lacking. I understand being understaffed but on a non-busy day it takes at least 20 minutes and all sorts of frantic waving after we finish our first drinks to get ANYBODY to come around. Meanwhile, the hostess and other serving staff are sitting around talking to each other or slowly meandering around tables without stopping to ask if anyone needs anything. Came here to celebrate a birthday for lunch. Ambiance is super cute and colorful. We had 3 apps (bruschetta, Brussels, and burrata) - all equally delish. Two pastas as our mains (ravioli and fettuccine) and for an Italian place both were so light and refreshing. Service was great and attentive. I'm but into proper spacing between courses and I felt like everything was timed perfectly. No rushing us through the meal! Overall highly recommend. Come check this place out asap! read more

Living in the apartment building right next to this restaurant, I had very high hopes which have *mostly* been realized. I really like the aesthetic of this bar - it is well decorated and a great use of the space. The food and drinks are both very good - recommend the brussels! However, it is clear they are struggling with service - I've been probably 4-5 times at this point and every time, I need to flag down a server...who then seems annoyed with me. I understand it is a new restaurant and they are figuring it out, but the staff have consistently been less than friendly - like I am a burden for wanting to order another drink. Good decor, ambiance and what not but the food is mid at best and that's putting it midly. Ordered two pizzas that had no meat whatsoever. One pizza -- I counted literally had 7 "pieces" of pepperoni on it. The sausage looked like droplets on the cheese and was a small portion. Full disclosure I was hungry after a workout but that was far from satisfying. It is a shame since they also own Slice N Pie next store but I would've been better off order 3 slices there and paying 20 bucks versus 50 dollars and needing to have another meal afterwards. read more

Truly one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in DC. The food was delicious and the drinks were good, but I ordered a martini with rail vodka and was charged $22 (despite other martinis being on the menu for around $15) The bill stated that I had ordered a top-shelf vodka even though I had explicitly ordered rail vodka. When I tried to dispute this I was told that they can't do anything about this charge because they made and served me what I ordered. The bar manager was incredibly rude, told me there was nothing he could do, but could give me a discount the next time I came in (he wouldn't say how much the discount was, just kept saying "it depends"). I understand the bar manager isn't in charge of how the servers take orders and are responsible for making the drinks that they are presented orders for, so I asked to speak with the general manager or someone who is responsible for the servers/hosts and he said, "oh my god, these people." Will be going back for my discount (assuming I actually get it, since "it depends) and then never going again. read more

Came in just to grab the brunch pizza, I was so excited to try it. I ordered truffle and egg pizza that came with quail eggs, truffle oil, fresh mozzarella and mushrooms. Ordered it to go and was a little disappointed that I couldn't add bacon, but the bartender was friendly and able to get my request accepted. I came back in to pick up my pizza and there were no quail eggs just one regular poached egg thrown on my pizza and when I inquired on why I didn't have quail eggs, everyone's response was "I don't even know what a quail egg looks like" . Then the chef came out and told me they were out of quail eggs, but there was also no truffle oil so paying over $20 for a pizza cut in 4 slices with only half of the ingredients wasn't my ideal brunch pizza.
