Coffee
Jesse L. R.

We were looking for a nice diner for a good breakfast to have before our drive home. I had a black coffee, which was more money than a Starbucks Venti, and lower quality than the corner gas station. A simple ham and cheese omelette, which was very good, ended up being double that of the French cafe we ate at in Boston a week before. I don't mind paying for an upscale meal; however, a diner should be affordable, especially for coffee. So I was a little disappointed in that.

Ham, Swiss and mushroom omelette

Pretty good diner, nice and spacious and their breakfast was pretty good. The negative for me was I found it to be a bit on the pricey side for a diner. It was like 67 bucks for two Ham, Swiss and Mushroom Omelettes served with home fries and toast and I had a chocolate milk and my husband had a black coffee. They apparently charge extra for cheese as well as mushrooms. I've never had an omelette where I have to pay extra for cheese. lol Service was descent until after we were done eating. The waitress never came back after she asked if we wanted anything else. We had to flag her down after 15 minutes or more.

While most diners were closed this Easter Sunday, this cute diner was opened. The place looks well kept and the owner shows he cares. Very standard diner menu, I would have loved to see a "house special" on the menu. The burger was excellent, French onion soup was ok... what I really loved was the Greek salad, it was more like a Jewish style Greek salad with pieces of herring in it. Bathrooms were clean, place had a full bar and the hostess was very welcoming. I wish my waiter would have smiled a little more, but I get that it was late and he may have been tired. Will be back.

Listen, when it comes to sitting in traffic or grabbing a decent diner meal at Silver Star Diner, I will pick Silver Star hands down. I was on my way home. Stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and thought about going home hungry and frustrated or grabbing grub. I have been to this diner a couple times before. Good food. We stopped. I had a tina

Very nice staff! I was with a huge group and most of us enjoyed our food but this definitely wasn't a favorite diner of mine. I got the burger and was not pleased. But the loaded waffle fries were super good. My friends seemed to enjoy their food as well. More photos of silver star on my instagram food page vicarious.eats

Headed up to Rhode Island for a day trip and saw some signs on the highway for the diner so decided to stop in for some breakfast. Diner was pretty easy to find. The sever is nice but you can tell she clearly doesn't want to be here . I ordered a basic two egg, home fries and toast. The food was okay , definitely wouldn't come out of my way to come here . The meal wasn't to pricey but definitely double the price of what I normal pay back at home .

Ambience wasn't anything special but the waitstaff were enthusiastic and they know how to have fun (two of them randomly broke out into song behind the bar). Food was spectacular. I started with the gnocchi alla vodka. The gnocchi was the perfect texture; pillowy with a bit of bite. The vodka sauce was creamy, cheesy and savory. Since this restaurant is all about over the top meals, they dropped a Parmesan encrusted fried burrata on top, which was crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. I loved this immensely. Then I got something off the viral section of the menu;: the fried chicken Mac n cheese monster burrito. The Mac n cheese tasted very average, but the fried chicken had an excellent flavor and the "special sauce" is definitely worthy of being called special. Smoky, creamy and wonderfully seasoned. Thankfully they give you a syringe filled with it when they bring it to you; I made sure to use it ALL. It also comes with waffle fries which were seasoned as if they were curly fries; they were crispy and very delicious. Believe the hype!! This place is fantastic and I highly recommend it!!

They have special desserts that really are for 2-4 people not 1. They do love to celebrate birthdays with the whole staff singing! The menu is very strict and they would not just bring 1 pancake for the toddler at our table at whatever the cost or an extra bowl of fruit. Both of the items were part of a bigger meal that would have been wasted if ordered.

My son and his mom only ordered fries and they both could have eaten one order together because the servings were huge! You definitely get your money's worth! They then ordered one of their famous milkshakes and they didn't disappoint! They were loaded! We ate the ice cream and took the cakes and donuts home with us! It was quite busy when we arrived on a late Sunday a.m. in January. Tables were filled and there was a line for ordering. We decided on a tomato cheddar soup and the Churn it Up sandwich with Havarti and provolone. We were told the wait would be 40 mins, giving us the option to wait it out or go elsewhere. We stuck it out and the food was at our table in less than 20 mins. The sandwiches were ooey gooey toasted cheesiness and paired perfectly with the creamy tomato soup. It came with a lighty dressed arugula salad. I had a freshly brewed ice tea and my dining partner got a Dr. Brown's soda. The breakfast rush was soon over but people were still coming in to eat and grab take out while we enjoyed our meals. They also offer beers and wines and hot chocolate. The entire place was very clean, including the restrooms, although I did not see any table wiping going on. Staff were smiling and polite. Plenty of parking in lot shared with other business.

After they became aware of the availability of a large space restaurant in the city of Norwalk, the restaurant migrated to its present spot. LOCATION: The restaurant is in a lively location, with a movie theater across the street and a convenient parking lot in the back. ATMOSPHERE: The space, which is divided by walls into three dining areas, has a "shabby chic" aesthetic and is lit by tall and wide paned industrial windows. EXPERIENCE: I've visited for brunch and Happy Hour with friends who live or work in Norwalk. Chef Taibe is creative and skillful, and I'm forever impressed by the dishes he serves. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the restaurant was recognized as best in Fairfield County during the Connecticut Restaurant Association's 2023 Crazies award ceremony. (Chef Taibe was finalist for best chef in all of the state the very same year.) The pimento cheese starter topped with Benton ham jam (happy hour/dinner) and smoked brisket hash (brunch) highlight how Chef Jeff Taibe transforms and elevates common menu items into ones that are memorable and crave-inducing. TIPS: Adding to the menu variety, specials are available between 5-9 pm as follows: Tuesdays: Burger plus Beer combo ($18); Wednesdays: Seafood discounts and specials; Thursdays: Smoked Prime Rib ($65); Fridays: Fossil Farm Game specials. It appears that walk ins are always seated in bar dining area, regardless of whether the central dining area appears free. If you rather not sit on a high top bench or stool, a reservation is recommended. The restaurant is also accessible via a back parking lot entrance.
