Great spot to stop for lunch on the way to/from the beach. Had the gyro and onion rings. Gyro was good and tasty. The onion rings were great, thick, crispy, and well done. Planning on going back again soon to try other items on the menu, with onion rings of course. 4 Picnic tables with umbrellas out front or take it with you to calf pasture beach. They're located right before fifth street. Plenty of parking on the street plus they have a small lot in back. read more

It might be hard to miss, but if you're in the area you need to check it out. Classic, walk-up style dining, with outdoor seating. The man taking orders offered to refill my soda even though I was taking my order to go, as he had seen me drinking it while waiting for my food, which came as a very pleasant surprise to me. The burger I ordered was terrific, they do not skimp on the bacon at all, although I would recommend getting a double burger if you're coming on an empty stomach, the patties are smaller, however the prices reflect that, as it's very cheap for a burger compared to other places. Overall a great place with a great environment, and I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again! read more

I stopped here in October for a quick lunch. I ended up getting a burger and fries and I was very pleasantly surprised. This is the burger and fries you would get at the beach snack shack, or a country fair. It is a 100% normal burger and good old American french fries. Both were cooked perfectly. And it was cheap! I would recommend this place to anyone that is tired of all of the fake hamburgers and fries out there- I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu. read more

In the year 1999, at the ripe age of 6, my Grandfather took me to a Dive-Bar. Leaving all the decision-making up to my Grandpa, he ordered me a cheeseburger. "You're a man now," he said, upgrading me from the junior menu to the regular sized orders. It was my first experience with all the extras; lettuce, tomato, onions, and ketchup. I remember taking the first bite of this burger and experiencing something so wonderful. Unfortunately to put a hiccup in the story, the Dive-Bar was not Nik's Place, nor do I think Nik's was even open in 1999. However, the first time I ate their burger it tasted so similar, I was able to relive this memory. The flavorful bite of the patty, delectable crunch of the onion and lettuce, softness of the bun, it was a blissful deja vu. Thank you for your wonderful burgers Nik's place. Disappointed in this place, given the glowing reviews. The fish and chips may have been prepared fresh but I couldn't tell. The breading of the (small) pieces was thick and heavy. Actually the worst fish and chips I've had in a long time. I ended up eating them by hand because the cheap plastic cutlery couldn't get through the coating. Fries not very good either. Many scavenging sparrows didn't contribute to the experience. Given the other reviews I might give it another try but I would get a hamburger and I would not eat them there. read more

I love Nik's place. I've been coming here as far back as I can remember. I love the Gyros and other greek fare, but the menu has all kinds of familiar stuff. Great place to grab a bite if you are in the area or if you are heading to the beach for the day. Parking can be a bit of a pain depending on when you go so I usually try to park along the street. Unassuming at first glance, this roadside hatch is a Norwalk institution and offers a huge array of indulgent treats. Run by a Greek family who have been in the neighborhood since the 60s, Nik's offers simply the best gyro you're going to find in Fairfield County -- their Chicken Souvlaki is tangy and fresh, and all the other Greek specialties live up to the motherland. Despite specializing in Greek cuisine, Nik's also makes great clam rolls, lobster rolls, burgers, and fries; the sheer variety of different stuff on offer is awesome. Their main competition in the neighborhood when it comes to seafood is Overton's: when you try both, it's a comparison that flatters Overton's, because despite being a little less well known, Nik's is far superior and less pricey. The staff are always happy and will joke around with the customers and really make you feel welcome. I've learned a lot about the Greek bailout from Hercules and on my days off I sometimes catch Mrs. Nik (sic), the original owner's wife, who's taught me all about the Orthodox church and the old days back in Greece. I couldn't picture my neighborhood without Nik's. Their right at the end of my road, and so the temptation is always palpable! read more

This is a stand I have been going to all my life, a Norwalk institution. A family run business that continues to operate in the fair weather months. A grilled cheese pita with lettuce and tomato from Nik's taste's awesome, and says summer as much as 90 degree weather and extended daylight. read more

I grew up in Norwalk and passed this place all the time going to and from the beach. Never went because I always thought it was just burgers and fries. We went for a walk at the beach recently and stopped here for lunch. They had lots of variety and options, the people were friendly and the chicken souvlaki was amazing! I ordered The Brownie and it was pretty good. I'd say that the best part about it was the ice cream as it is so soft and melts in your mouth. The chocolate and the brownie weren't nearly as good as the chocolate . read more
