This diner is my new Togo place the food is excellent the staff treated me like family very welcoming and attentive as well as accommodating, the parking lot is huge and free. They have Wi-Fi, clean bathrooms and lots of space to sit and work in peace. Great place. read more

I grew up coming to this diner all the time. Back then, it was exactly what you'd expect from a diner and you paid accordingly. I recently brought my young daughter for a lunch to enjoy some nostalgia along with an easy meal. The server was very nice and super kind to my daughter. My gripe is with the prices. I got a chicken wrap that was over $20!!! I anticipated it'd be something special for that price, but unfortunately it was not (and quite messy to be frank). We were looking for a nice diner for a good breakfast to have before our drive home. I had a black coffee, which was more money than a Starbucks Venti, and lower quality than the corner gas station. A simple ham and cheese omelette, which was very good, ended up being double that of the French cafe we ate at in Boston a week before. I don't mind paying for an upscale meal; however, a diner should be affordable, especially for coffee. So I was a little disappointed in that. read more

Pretty good diner, nice and spacious and their breakfast was pretty good. The negative for me was I found it to be a bit on the pricey side for a diner. It was like 67 bucks for two Ham, Swiss and Mushroom Omelettes served with home fries and toast and I had a chocolate milk and my husband had a black coffee. They apparently charge extra for cheese as well as mushrooms. I've never had an omelette where I have to pay extra for cheese. lol Service was descent until after we were done eating. The waitress never came back after she asked if we wanted anything else. We had to flag her down after 15 minutes or more. read more

While most diners were closed this Easter Sunday, this cute diner was opened. The place looks well kept and the owner shows he cares. Very standard diner menu, I would have loved to see a "house special" on the menu. The burger was excellent, French onion soup was ok... what I really loved was the Greek salad, it was more like a Jewish style Greek salad with pieces of herring in it. Bathrooms were clean, place had a full bar and the hostess was very welcoming. I wish my waiter would have smiled a little more, but I get that it was late and he may have been tired. Our recent trip this past Sunday led to a tab higher than our recent upscale brunch in Cambridge, MA - there is no way the quality or quantity of food at star diner could justify the new pricing scheme and therefore I can no longer recommend this restaurant. Headed up to Rhode Island for a day trip and saw some signs on the highway for the diner so decided to stop in for some breakfast. Diner was pretty easy to find. The sever is nice but you can tell she clearly doesn't want to be here . I ordered a basic two egg, home fries and toast. The food was okay , definitely wouldn't come out of my way to come here . Read some reviews and thought they're pretty good although the prices of food was excessively over priced but I thought, maybe it's worth it so I gave it try. Service was excellent but my food... it was like a reheated frozen dinner. The gravy on the meatloaf had a bit of sour taste and the veggies had way too much garlic and the meatloaf was loaded with fillers " bread crumbs".. the meatloaf in the nursing home where I used to work tasted way better than this. What a shame. And the dinner didn't come with a small salad or cup of soup.. and for $19?? Meh. I bet you frozen stouffers dinner for $4 taste better than this. But, I was starving and don't like to waste food so I ate as much as i can possibly handle.. nonetheless, I will never eat it here again. I understand inflation but the prices on the breakfast menu are 40% more than other diners.. really? Take your $16 to the grocery and make yourself eggs and bacon., you'll get so much more for your money. This place isn't worth it and the parking lot was empty at 11 am.. that says a lot. One of my favorite diners to have breakfast at! They serve very big portions enough for leftovers. They have a huge menu to choose from that includes many vegetarian options. The pancakes & French toast are delicious. I always have to get an omelette with extra crispy home fries when I come- the best! I always have a good experience here. This is a surprisingly solid diner! Staff is good and there was plenty of attention & help tonight. Our server was the lovely Crystal. Another young lady came by to pour water & a young man asked how we enjoyed our dinner. My matza ball soup was pretty good. I was so relieved it wasn't just consommé. It had chicken shreds & veggies plus a little pasta. My son liked his Cesar gyro salad without croutons & the hubby liked his lamb shank. The little one enjoyed his steak tips & rice. Of course We all went for our desserts! Two of us got the chocolate ice creAm, the others got chocolate & strawberry cheesecake. Everything was delectable. My only criticism would be NOT putting the delicious looking dessert case in the entryway. Right off Kids (& the adults) were too tempted, lol! read more

Three people one Ham Egg and cheese on a roll and one order French toast w/ sausage (we split it two nice size slices and three sausage links so it was big enough) and three coffees was $40.00 before tip! If I believed everything that's on Yelp I never would have come here with all of the miserable reviews. The ironic thing of course is that would a place like this or any place for that matter last thirty some years if it were as bad as a lot of these shill reviews make things out to be? Duh, of course not which is why my guess is that a lot of the reviews for Silver Star are 100% BS. Now that's not to say that Silver Star is some kind of five star establishment (even though their sign outside tells you otherwise) because it's not but it's also not nearly as bad as most reviews make it out to be. This place screams diner cliché in almost every way possible. I don't know if it is, but it reeks of being a classic Greek/Syrian diner in every way where the place is large, the menu is large, the portions are fairly large and everything from the staff to the satellite radio playing cheesy 80's is large yet the service was also fast & very personable. So why not five stars? The prices are very high. Two pancakes by themselves should not be $6.49. If you want anything with them it raises the prices an additional $2-$4 and let's not forget the beverage to add on even more. That's insane! There seems to be a disconnect with reality in this part of CT regarding what food actually should cost or maybe it's just me because seemingly every restaurant is allowed to pad/tack on an additional 20-30% past any point of common sense. The quality of what we had was perfectly fine within the realm of diner breakfast food the same as the quantity and the service as I already mentioned was more than fine but even still I can't get past the high prices. Overall this place is a winner and we'll probably be back in October. (Here's to hoping the satellite radio is playing something other than Rick Astley as we're walking in the door or the Fine Young Cannibals as we're leaving.) read more

I ordered one tuna sandwich with fries and a drink and paid $25. Also, the prices in the menu were not the prices when they ring up your order. This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. We just came from a show in New York and thought why not a diner that has a sign on their building for 5 stars and 4.0 Star rating on google which they need to take down and someone is lying on their reviews because the food was HORRIBLE along with the SERVICE. Absolutely terrible quality food, poor service; waitress was complaining to another waitress in front of customers about how busy it was, it happen to be Christmas and one of the only places open and the waitress wanted to go home. We were headed North and discovered this restaurant via the excellent signage (and great turn direction signs off the exit!) from the highway. As soon as we saw the many color flags on the main road we knew we had to turn in. Big menu with all day breakfast- chose a nice omelet and turkey triple decker club. Came here for lunch after finishing business in the area. Coming from New York, the price here was spectacular! The food is your typical diner food but they're at what a diner price should be! I had a turkey burger and the patty was just juicy! It was quite cheap as we, being only $6.95 for the burger alone or $10.95 for the deluxe with fries and the works. My grandson just got me on Yelp and said I should do some reviews since I always have a lot of opinions. So I figured I would start with on of my favorite places to eat in Norwalk the SIlver Star Diner! I have been going to this diner for 25 years and the food and service is always good. I am so happy that they are offering curbside pickup and delivery during the corona shutdown so I can enjoy some of my favorite Greek dishes like the Moussaka. They also have great breakfasts, my favorite is the "Greatest hit Benedict"....unique and delicious! The ONLY reason I am giving them a 4 star review is because of how much they have increased their prices over the past 6 years. I have to give this diner a one star rating, mostly due to the pricing. The ambience and service is your typical diner - nothing special, but as expected. But the pricing is that of a fancy bistro. Normally, with this situation, I just wouldn't go back, but when I saw that my bill was even higher than the already ridiculous prices on the menu, I was particularly annoyed and felt cheated. They adjusted the bill, but not without my having to show them the menu price and explain it to both the person checking me out and the waitress. I will never recommend this diner to anyone, for starters when they sat us we were seated in at a table and the other tables were literally a foot away from us, we ended up asking for a booth, my wife ordered chicken salad and I ordered meatloaf, the chicken was dark with absolutely no taste to it, she had 2 bites and threw out the rest. The meatloaf I had did not even taste like meatloaf it had some weird seasoning that gave it a very sour taste, I had mashed potatoes as a side using I had a creamy buttery taste to it but thier had a vinegar and cheese taste to it not even the butter they give could help the mashed potatoes. So I wasted $50 on horrible food, the wait staff she came over once to see how things were going and just handed us the bill. So needless to say I'll never go there again!! read more
