My family and i love this place! Their food is good and the service is good. They have a wide selection and everyone can find something they like. If youre like me, youll love that serve breakfast all day, i personally love that they have hashbrowns or homefries as a option. Usually places only have one or the other. My favorite breakfast place. I always order the pork chops and eggs over medium, zucchini bread, flour tortillas, one grilled jalapeno, and hot chocolate w/ coffee. We have been going to Hos Silver Spoon for years and experienced tonight the worst service, actually a lack of service. We were told the restaurant changed owners when we asked about specials that used to be on the menu ugh. First disappointment. No wonder the new younger and personnel here, who have no clue what they are doing. Well the female cashier was standing at the register with a stupid grin on her face, a young blond bus boy was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Literally holding his head and gasping for air. The one waitress wasn't keeping up with orders for customers and was serving the wrong food to the wrong table and apologizing every time! This place was not busy and had only about six active tables. We took our queue from the table ahead of us and walked out after waiting 15 mins to order. First time dining at Silver Spoon this morning. Walked right in with my son, was immediately greeted and seated by a very friendly hostess. Was then almost immediately greeted by our waitress, who was equally friendly. Shortly after ordering, breakfast was served, hot and fresh. Food was non greasy, and tasted as good as anything I have ever eaten for breakfast. Portions were more than generous. Pricing was the fairest I've seen in this city in a long time. I will never have breakfast at Flappys again after dining here and I am looking forward to going back for dinner! read more

i've been eating at this place since they were home kitchen, a few blocks south of where they're located now. now i like a good coffee shop and like that this place is cheap but i would probably only eat here if flappy jacks was too crowded or i need to save a few bucks. i would prefer to go here over denny's, carrow's (although i love me some carrow's) or ihop as i like to support local small businesses as much as i can but i would say that pepper tree cafe is a little better and around the same price. the staff is very friendly and the place is very clean. you definitely get what you pay for here. read more

The food was very good. The service was OK, even though the waitress had a bit of an attitude. We've had nice, friendly waitresses in the past. The cleanliness of both my water and soda glasses was totally lacking. There was lipstick on the rims of both glasses and I doubt that they were washed at all before I got them. The most horrid thing of all was that I didn't notice the filth on my glasses until I finished my soda. It's a good thing I was using straws or I would have regurgitated my lunch all over the table. The waitress ended up just removing the cost of the soda from my bill. This was not very satisfactory! Needless to say, my friends, family and I will not eat here again! Ever! read more

I went to the Covina location a few months ago service was terrible. Discovered after the waitress was overwhelmed as she was working virtually alone. Gave a the grand location a try today and walked out. The owner walked by our table several times collecting the tips from the tables around us never once asking if our order had been taken. Waited 20 minutes no waitress, no water or coffee ever made it to our table. It was not very busy for a Sunday which I would have understood. They won't be getting a third try out of me! Had breakfast at Silver Spoon Restaurant and enjoyed a nice omelet. The menu is that of a traditional diner--many choices, decently prepared, served with a smile. I'd say it's a good place to grab a meal if you are in the neighborhood, but it is not a destination dining experience. read more

I was super excited for a new restaurant that served breakfast to open up in Covina! The service was great. The food however was pretty bland. I was disappointed to say the least. Our order consisted of 4 breakfast dishes. The machaca (shredded beef) which was flavorless. The rice that accompanied the machaca was definitely yesterday's rice! The two different pancakes we ordered strawberry topped and banana walnut were good. The ham and eggs with breakfast potatoes was probably the worse I've ever had. The breakfast potatoes were mashed and just pan fried with almost raw veggies, zero flavor. Can't say I'll be back for breakfast. So sad, I was excited to try this place. read more

We went in there about 7pm the other night, and waited about 20-30 minutes for our food. Just as we received our food, an older Asian woman put our bill down on the table and told us to pay because they were going to close soon. We continued eating, but she kept walking by and staring at us waiting for me to pay. It was very uncomfortable and we didnt enjoy our meal. When we did pay, we told her we didnt care for her rushing us, and all she did was point to the clock and laugh. I will never go there again. read more

We have always found the food very good and service proficient and friendly. Of all of the things we like, we love the zucchini bread and complementary tapioca pudding. Ho's Silver Spoon serves delicious, good old fashioned comfort food like chicken pot pie casserole and roast turkey. I've been looking for a restaurant that serves these kinds of dishes which are hard to find in restaurants nowadays. I ordered the chicken pot pie casserole which was very generous with the chicken, peas, and carrots. I ordered the Grilled Reuben Sandwich on another visit. Everything was excellent and tasted fresh with high quality ingredients. Portions are huge and prices are very affordable. The servers were friendly, the restaurant is clean (and so is the restroom!), and the menu has a lot of tempting choices. Like other posters have mentioned, we highly recommend the zucchini bread. This is a great local family diner. The menu is quite extensive, so you can get whatever you're in the mood for. I've only had a few of their breakfast items, as I tend to be a creature of habit when it comes to restaurants like these. I ALWAYS order their biscuits and gravy. The biscuits are soft and fluffy. The gravy is flavorful and you'll get sausage in every bite! If you're in the mood for an omelette, the veggie omelette is outstanding. It's definitely one of the tastiest omelettes I've ever had. The hash browns never disappoint. Perfectly browned and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Nothing drives me crazier than poorly cooked hash browns. The staff is super friendly and attentive. They're always willing to accommodate your needs! There's usually not a wait to be seated and tended to. The restaurant does get a bit busy around lunch time during the week, but you're wait still won't be long. So if you're in the mood for a tasty breakfast, or any meal, come here! read more
