I had the tasting of five wines, which you receive one at a time, and I really enjoyed the Bowen reserve items, the Noble Blend of TX Cab & Tempranillo blend was my favorite. There was a single employee working and she was a pro. A nice mix of regulars and couples were in attendance on this early Saturday evening it was a bit like a Cheers episode. Silver Dollar Winery in Bedford is a tasting room, not a vineyard. It is a convenient place to enjoy real Texas wine and foods without leaving DFW. If you visit you will likely feel like this is a homey place with many neighborhood regulars. There are many varieties of wine to choose from, which would allow groups with varied tastes (from very dry to super sweet to fruity) to all gather and enjoy a glass. The outside lacks charm, with a strip mall feel. Inside there are lots of tables decorated with coins under glass. You also use chips to exchange for tastings, which is a nice touch. I am leaving only 3 stars mostly because, despite trying many of the wines here, I can never find one that I actually like. The service is also spotty. Decided to come here on a Friday night and it was a great decision. This location is unassuming from the outside but lively on the inside. You can tell they have a lot of regulars. My boyfriend and I split a wine flight and each got to try 3 different wines to find our favorites. We both enjoyed the reds we tried. I'm not big on cheese but they ones they had where good. They had a cheese/butter spread that was out of this world. So the reason I gave them only 3 stars was because the "Experience" that they said came with the Groupon. So we didn't get the signature glass to take home it was supposed to be included in the Groupon. They didn't explain the wine or what to pair it with. When I told them I had a Groupon they didn't seem to happy to take it. I mean if your company Is going to promote something they should keep there word. I don't have a lot of experience with wineries. Nor do I consider myself to be very sophisticated when it comes to wine. I have however consumed a fair amount of wine in my time, wine of all colors, though in the past few years I just stick to the reds. Which is what I did tonight. I tried tastings of the various reds and all were agreeable. I also tried a port. The port was sweet and I thought OK if you like sweet ports. I did finish with a full glass of the Silver Dollar Merlot (I forget its exact name), which was my favorite from the tastings. Silver Dollar Winery is a cute place. It has several seating areas, including a back room that seems ideal for small groups (or meetings). About the only thing missing is outdoor seating (unless I missed it, out back maybe?). The winery fronts on a rather busy street, and while it has a bit of a porch, I can't see that as a seating option, but maybe. As I was leaving I noticed a display for wine ice cream. I see from the website it's available "by the scoop" for $2, or $7.50 for a pint (http://www.silverdollarwinery.com/icecream.html). Eight options to choose from. Need to keep that in mind for a future visit. Bottom line: Definitely worth a look, and a sip, especially if you are lucky enough to live nearby. read more

This place is the epitome of chill. We were the only ones there for a while and the staff let us be, but would answer questions when needed. This is a judgment free establishment, which is different than some other wine places (cough grapevine cough). 5 tastings for $10??? YES PLEASE! The bottles are reasonable. This place has opened my eyes to an entirely different world, and shown me another side. I en\ joy wine, and here we have an actual winery that is right around the corner from me. Their wines are incredibly tasty and leave me coming back for more. The Roosevelt Rose is my favorite blend, but I like the Johnson Muscat, the Sweet Red, the Riesling just to name a few. It's a local business, so that already tells me the employees there are regular employees. The people there are friendly and sociable, which I think is fantastic because they make me feel like I can come here and just talk to them. One of the owners has a dog that is always around when he is, a dog named Cody that is the literal mascot (The Cody's Portejas is inspired by this pup), and it is the friendliest dog in the world, I swear. There's a membership deal which I've acquired-and I got the lower tier-where you get a couple bottles of wine every couple months and you have a regular discount on various items due to this. It is wonderful, to say the least. The only thing I don't like so much is that the bartop really only has two spots worthwhile to sit. Though, they have four, only two of them have taller chairs. As I am a taller person, I like to sit at the bar and chat with the people there, or get work done on my computer, and I only ever sit in those taller chairs to get things done. If I go on a busy day, there is no guarantee of free space, and you know me. Based off Ron's Tavern, Danny's Pub, and other places, I absolutely hate sitting at tables where I can't interact with other people. So that's my only gripe, you have four chairs at a bar area, two of which are tall enough to feel comfortable while the other two are shorter (table chairs) and leave you feeling rather small. The tables are great for people hanging out with another person that came with them, but as you know me, I socialize on my own and only feel isolated at tables. They have so much merchandise at the center of the bar area that there's really no room for any more than the chairs at the ends of the bar read more

This was an unexpected find. I passed by this location for three years before I decided to stop in. It was a choice between the grocery and stopping at the winery... wine won! The people that work here are amazing. If you are fortunate enough to sit at the bar, they take the time to remember your name and engage you in conversation. I came by myself the first time and met some amazing "bar rats" that were so friendly we were in a group chat before I knew it. This place is a true small town microcosm, you may get to know some awesome people depending on the crowd.Bring your patience because the service may be overwhelmed depending on the crowd, it can get busy on the weekend nights, you may want to make a reservation. What a strange little wine bar. The decorations are nice, and the wine and drinks were great, but the ambiance was very strange the night we were there. Wine bars are usually a quiet, relaxing retreat, but on our visit the place was more in line with a sports bar. One table was full of drunks that were screaming and loudly laughing the entire time, and there was another patron with his computer propped on the bar, loudly scream-talking to the bartender. His conversation wasn't nearly as interesting as he thought it was and everyone in the building didn't need to hear it. Staff needs to work on cutting off drunks that ruin the experience for others. Then the male bartender with glasses was a complete jerk all night. When someone in our party tried to order he responded with "Uh... Nope. We haven't had that one in TWO MONTHS." Alright, bud, it's our first time here. Then around 8:30 (they closed at 10) we ordered a flatbread to share. He looked at the clock, loudly sighed and said "Fine." before walking off. Sorry to bother you, man. After calling him out of his attitude, he fixed it. The Malbec was great and we ended up getting a couple bottles. I'd go back just for this and probably take it to enjoy elsewhere. Waitress Gina was great and very friendly. She's an asset to this otherwise odd wine bar. read more

Oh my god, that sax player. Dude might have been good in junior high and maybe for a little while in high school, but his talents are best reserved for a minor role in the community band. So loud. So out of sync with the music track he was accompanying. So unaware of how poor his performance was. My wife and I would have stayed far longer, but it was causing me physical pain to hear him play. I would have fought through it, but he was playing so loudly that I couldn't hear my wife, leaving me no choice BUT to listen. Very nice place to enjoy some wine. We had a group outing and reserved space in advance. Some of our guests did the wine tasting...pay at the bar and receive poker chips to trade for wine that way they could enjoy it in our private seating area. Food was delicious...had some dips and meat/cheese trays. Order wine by the tasting, glass, or bottle. Small Winery. Parking can be tricky if there are a lot of people. This is a great location to wind down with a glass of vino! It's one of those spots that if you blink you'd definitely miss. I've never been a huge fan of Texas wine but Silver Dollar is quickly making me change my mind! I am so glad that they are making their presence known in Bedford. Mid cities of all areas really needs more venues like this. Love their merlot and if you want something of the lighter/sweeter variety try out the Roosevelt rosé. The tastings are a great way to check out everything they have all across the board and they also do a HH. There are cheese boards and items to snack on as well. We came here on Christmas eve for a tasting. They were out of the one wine I really wanted to try, but I tried the other sweet wines and one port. I thought they were all just okay, nothing I would buy or want a full glass of, except for the peach. It is very peachy, good stuff! We did get a bottle to enjoy for Christmas. I do however think cowtown had a better peach wine. Still enjoyable though, but next time we are in Texas we will go back to Cowtown instead. read more

We've come here several times, and it's absolutely awesome. We make it a point to go every couple weeks or so. Most wineries will let you sample, then you can buy a bottle of what you sampled - but when you get home, you realize it wasn't the same thing! SDW sells you THE SAME WINE from THE SAME BATCH of what they serve as samples, which makes them my favorite winery. Even wines I'm *not so sure about* are actually EXCELLENT. My favorite red is We All Bleed Sweet Red, and IMPeached peachy white wine. We order the charcuterie board or the meatballs, always have a great time. Warning: The alcohol levels are higher than the stuff you'll typically find in the grocery store - but the flavor isn't negatively affected as in made too dry. I want to go again just thinking about it as I type! read more

My experience here was true to the Yelp reviews! I thoroughly enjoyed myself between the wine and wine ice cream that I was even more excited about. I started with a flight of sweet wines (I prefer sweet)-- the first five Silver Dollar sweet wines listed on their menu. They were. ALL. SO. GOOD. Not overly sweet or heavy or syrupy, but perfect sweet wines IMO. I've done flights before where I may have liked 1 or 2 and the others were blah or not up my alley. This is the first time that I've had a flight that I liked all of the wine selections! After my flight, I got a glass of one of the wines and took a bottle of another with me. I was given samples of the wine ice cream and I chose one in particular for a full scoop. My "bartenders" Linda (?) and Colleen were awesome! They chatted us up, made us feel welcomed, just amped our experience on another level. Great wine, great company.... AND we ordered the meat and cheese plate. It's not ultra posh, gourmet meats and cheeses, but it was perfect to balance our sweet wines and our stomachs. The flavored dip and crackers.. omg, I'm a total fan! Please don't ask which wine was my favorite or which ice cream I particularly liked, just know I had an all around awesome experience and that I liked my wines so much that it nicely ruined the rest of the activities for the day, ha! read more

Now the selection although they had a great variety of reds and whites were not necessary to my liking, but I think if you're going to go to a winery, it should be because it reflects the wines in the region and not imports which this place does. read more

Honestly what's really not to like about this place? #1 This winery has a dog. Let's start with that. #2 Where else in Bedford are you going to find a winery? #3 All around this place has a large selection of wines, champagnes and signature wine cocktails. The atmosphere is a chill, rustic winery. They do tastings at the bar and also have wait service at the glass topped barrel tables for all your wine and cheese needs... which by the way, they have like ten different cheese dips plus a meat and cheese tray. They've also got more sustainable food like tacos, chicken wings, sandwiches and pizzas and even wine infused ice cream! The employees are very knowledgeable, friendly and you are served exactly what you want very quickly. If I had to knock off a couple points (aka 1 star) it would be because they don't have beer and it's a teens-y bit pricey. Not that a winery should have beer, it just limits the crowd you bring.
