We have visited several times and will return again. While on Main in Grapevine, this winery is off the "main drag" so you really feel like you are in an oasis. They have free parking right on site. The grounds are comfortable, with many seating options, both covered and uncovered. You can bring your friendly leashed dogs. They have lawn games and live music frequently. Also the wine is delicious. We especially enjoyed their partner wine from Mexico on this visit. Yum! Try a tasting flight. There are nine tasting rooms in Grapevine. Crosstimber's is a little off the beaten path but well worth it. They have a lovely patio with live music. They have an event space. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is ample parking. They have a small selection of Cheese and meat trays. You can buy wine by the glass or buy the bottle, and they offer a wine tasting flight. This is a nice local establishment located inside an old farmhouse from the late 1800s. Luckily, they were spared, for the most part, effects from a recent tornado. The staff is very friendly and can speak informatively about their wines - I suggest their offerings from Mexican wineries. This is my first experience doing something like this. As soon as I walked in, the staff was very helpful. They went over the menu and suggested the wine tasting. I went with the suggestion and was glad I did. I loved sitting outside and listening to the live band. My husband's company had their Christmas party for 150 people booked through them, and they called to cancel the reservation 2 days prior to the event, due to an error on their part of double booking with another event. This is a cool spot for wine tasting. The weather couldn't have been any better than yesterday's weather, except that there were a butt load of gnats everywhere, to where if you weren't careful, they would land in your wine glass, which happen to me twice. Other than that, the land is beautiful for enjoying a nice glass of wine and relaxing. We decided to do the wine tasting to try out their different wines and ordered a little snack, which was the hummus and spinach dip, which wasn't all that. The wines were ok, their cab is a little bit more on the sweet side. I prefer a dryer cab for my liking, but overall we still enjoyed our time here yesterday. We had the perfect Spring day for sitting g outside drinking wine with friends. I was completely shocked that it wasn't packed for a Saturday afternoon in April. The staff was nothing but excellent. Super friendly and answered all our questions. Now we didn't do a tour but rather just a bottle of wine and an appetizer. I honestly can't remember what wine we had. That's a good sign huh LOL. I do remember it was really good. That charcuterie board was out of this world good. The presentation alone was so impressive when they walked out with it. So many choices and all so scrumptious. This was our last stop on our wine weekend. I am so glad that we decided to try Cross Timbers. What a beautiful location with delicious wines. The server was very knowledgeable about the different wines and provided a lot of good information. She explained that the owner made sure that each wine had the best quality of grapes. If those grapes were not of good enough quality, they might not make a certain wine for the season. That is why they no longer offer a Merlot. For $5 we received 4 one ounce pours. There was also the option of $10 for 5 one ounce pours with a free wine glass to take home. I was expecting the glass to be one of the tasting glasses, BUT it ended up being HUGE. Next time we stop by my husband and I will definitely get a glass. We ended up purchasing the Chenin Blanc bottle. I can't wait to open it up :) read more

Stopped by to check it out as they have lots of outside seating and the weather was perfect. You can do a tasting or get glasses of wine which we elected to do so we could sit outside. I had the Chenin Blanc and my husband had the Malbec. The girl helping us asked if we wanted a cheese plate but as we had just eaten lunch we declined. The couple ahead of us did get one and it looked like it would be a nice accompaniment to the wine. Shortly after we sat outside people started to arrive to set up for a wedding that was happening there in the evening. I say this as I am hoping that is why they were closing at 5pm. We enjoyed the wine and the ambiance. We came mid afternoon and our only complaint was they closed at 5. With the time change coming soon we were hoping to come back and sit under the trees when the weather is nice and the days are long. read more

My friend and I were visiting Grapevine and made it a point to stop at Cross Timbers Winery based on its reputation. We were so glad we did! The fun started when we arrived: we were standing on the porch, admiring the lovely old farmhouse, when a charming young man popped his head out the front door and cheerfully asked, "Are you ladies looking for a wine tasting?" When we assured him we were, he beckoned us inside and seated us at the tasting bar. He turned out to be the manager, Christopher Hankins, and was extremely well-versed in wine varietals, the farmhouse and its history, and the surrounding area. We spent a delightful hour tasting a good selection of wines (4 tastings for each of us, which came with cheese and crackers), chatting about wine, art and theatre, and settling on the best wines to buy and bring home. It was a wonderful time! After our tasting, we toured the farmhouse and grounds and marveled at how beautifully it had been renovated. The winery definitely takes pride in caring for the buildings, inside and out; we saw several staff hard at work gardening and maintenance. I can't wait for the next time I'm in Grapevine and can stop in at Cross Timbers! This is a great little winery away from the other tasting rooms on Main St. The winery is very welcoming and has homey vibes to it, which I love. They have indoor and outdoor seating and it's very relaxing. We went on a Saturday afternoon and the weather was amazing. We got 4 tastings and complimentary cheese and crackers for $8 per person. We ran across Cross Timbers Winery last weekend while on our Wine Tasting tour we did with our friends in Grapevine. This winery is around 10 years old. They don't have an actual vineyard onsite nor do they do any of the actual wine production in Grapevine, TX. They claim to have affiliate locations in Central America, Europe, and in Texas where they actually produce their wines. When you walk in the door, the place is quite small actually. You see little kids playing in the room on your right and on the left is the bar with the stack of various wine bottles. They offer $5 Wine Tastings here which you can't really beat. You get to pick any 4 out of 10-12 selections they have on their counter. I personally enjoyed their Cab and Merlot. They have some cheese and crackers as well. What I did find interesting here is that they also sell a homemade barbecue sauce for around $4. It comes in 2 flavors - Regular and Spicy. Even the regular one has a kick to it so I am sure the spicy one will not disappoint one. Their service is good and they are very friendly, but overall I rate this winery 3 stars purely because the ambiance is a bit dull and I didn't really get to taste or learn much about their specialties since I ended up just selecting my own choice of wines for wine tasting instead of them introducing me to wines they recommend based on their knowledge of their own wines. read more

My husband & I chose the 4 tasting option (because we were afraid wine glasses wouldn't survive the plane flight home). There was a great selection of wines to choose from. A quaint winery off the beaten path of Main Street in a historic home. The grounds are beautiful. You can have a tasting inside the home, or you can take your glass outside and sit in the spacious patio area (with ceiling fans if you're concerned about the heat.) We live close and visit often. You can even bring a picnic to have with your wine. They always offer complimentary cheese and crackers, which is a nice touch. They have white, red, and rosè wines, ranging from sweet to dry. Went as part of a corporate group for a wine tasting. We sat outside in their nice covered area just outside the main house. The vineyard is not there, they did not go into details about where or how their wine is made, but it was decent wine. They do a lot of special events here and have a nice barn area and outdoor space. There is an old house on site that was for the family that lived there for many years raising a lot of kids (can't remember but it was like 7-10 kids), it is a tiny two bedroom house - yikes. Just my luck. Last month, I hit the wine trail in the Texas Hill Country outside of Austin determined to purchase my first bottle of Texas wine. I was ecstatic to find a great bottle of pinot noir from Texas. When I got home and actually read the label on my newly purchased bottle of Texas wine, I found out it was from Paso Robles, CA! So what do I do? I decided to head out to Grapevine on Saturday to get me a bottle of Texas wine. First off, I was surprised how close Grapevine wineries were to Dallas - a short 20 minute car ride later I was seated comfortably at Cross Timbers sipping some local wine. Cross Timbers is definitely one of the coziest, friendliest wineries I've ever been to. The tasting room is in one of the oldest standing structures in Grapevine. Looking around, you'll be amused by all the original touches that still remain. Walking in on a wet Saturday afternoon, I felt like a high plains drifter moseying into a saloon from yesteryear. There is a small 4 seat bar, two high tables, and one or two other rooms with chairs to seat your party. In all, I'd say it probably can fit 20 or so people indoors and another 25 people on the patio. Four one ounce tastings are $5, which is a great deal. The guy working the counter was immensely helpful at recommending great wines. Even though he was working alone most of the time we were there, he checked in on us to make sure we were ok as large groups made their way through. Every group also got a small chopping board heaped with blocks of cheddar cheese and crackers. I think I fell in love with their hospitality right then and there. Cross Timbers features 6 or so wines under their own label, but they also offer tastings from about 6 other labels - one from their sister property in Mexico (oldest vineyard in the Americas) and another in Austria. My tasting notes? Texas wines, even reds, seem to be a bit sweeter than California reds. I also liked the Cross Timbers Viognier - perfect for entertaining in warmer weather. Cross Timbers is a bit different from the other wineries in Grapevine. But I love the unique character of the place and the uber-friendly service. This is perfect for smaller groups if you're hitting the Grapevine wine trail. It's also a 2 minute drive to other wineries in downtown Grapevine so you can keep the party going! read more

My first foray into Grapevine wineries was a success with this little treasure. My friend and I were trying to decide which one to visit, then we read about this one...located in a historic building and haunted by a ghost. Who could say no to that! We had a lovely wine tasting: $5 without a glass or $10 with a glass...and it came with free cheese and crackers. The wine wasn't bad - nothing that stands out, but also nothing that I disliked. The setting was lovely and we had the place all to ourselves, because we were there Friday afternoon. This is a beautiful winery. It is a renovated house on 2 acres. They have awesome outdoor seating and I would love to go back on a nice cool day to enjoy some wine. The staff was really friendly and shared stories of the winery being haunted. They were very attentive and helpful. The wines that we tried were not our favorites, but were all pretty good we didn't buy any bottles, but we enjoyed our tasting and experiencing the winery. It's just down the road from all the other wineries but feels like it's nice and secluded. Would love to go back again and try some new wine. Was a good time. read more

This winery is on the far north of the Main St. district in Grapevine. It is in an old renovated cabin. Great ambiance! Very authentic, rustic feel. We have gone only for wine tastings--$5 per 4 sample glass tastings. Includes complimentary cheese and crackers (simple but tasty cheddar and ritz, I believe). However, their wines are mostly all Texas, very tasty, and varied. No weird-flavored or overbearing wines. The wait-staff/barista/bartenders are always cheery and helpful, without being push about moving you through. We've been to 4 wineries in Grapevine for tastings, this is our favorite so far (3 more wineries to go!) read more

Not a fan. They refused to clean the flower beds and sidewalks from weeds for our wedding. The food was low end, but the kicker was I paid their recommended bartender for beer to be served and they of course pushed their own wine, (which isn't bottled there nor is there a vineyard they simply pay for a label with their name on it). The worst part is they was opening bottle after bottle without emptying what they had open and when I protested they stopped serving the beer I brought and of course I was still paying for the bartender. I asked again to see the event rules they called the police. I later found out my groom had already paid the bar tender and I did also; when I asked for that amount to be refunded they said that was a tip. read more

I wanted to love this place. Beautiful land and promising wine. However, they could not have proven to be less accommodating and caring toward their patrons. We had reservations for a large party 8 weeks in advance. 8 weeks. When we arrived the tables were sporadically filled making it impossible to pull together a large table. We were told to "go to the patio" even though there wasn't a single patron out there willing to sit in the cold, February wind. We decided that we could continue with our plans and reservation if they had heaters. Response: "sorry we're out of propane". Really? No attempt to accommodate us at all. This weekend we decided to take the Grapevine wine tour. Our first visit was Cross Timbers Winery. The winery is located at a dead end off Main st. in Grapevine. Upon our arrival we were greeted my a lady who basically told us to park in the back and leave the open spots in the front empty, not sure who else they were expecting. I went it with an open mind about Texas wine tasting. No, I'm not that much of a wine snob but I know what I like and many regional wines area little subpar. This winery just didn't live up to any expectations. In fact I'm glad this was our visit because we got out the worst one out of the way. The wine pours were the minuscule compare to everyone else. They were not helpful or knowledgeable of any of their products. I don't think I'll be coming back to this winery. read more
