I would say this is a wine store with a little more...live music on weekends and wine by the glass and tastings... ...It's nice to have a place on the strip to get away from the crowd...if one is needing to be catered to, as most Americans do, then you may want to go across the street. I've been a wine club member since Jan 2019 and have seen EWC go through several changes between COVID, post COVID, and a change in management. My wife and I did not have a good experience here the other week. In fact, we didn't have an experience at all. We were super excited about the idea of a wine bar in the area and wanted to check it out around 7PM on a Saturday (at least I think thats when it was). We walked in and it was relatively full, walked up to the bar on the right which had a few people at it aaaaaannnnddd nothing happened. No one said hello, no one made eye contact, nothing. OK - maybe they're really busy. We stepped away and started looking around the store looking at their wines, making eye contact with as many of the people as possible because we wanted to stay a while and we wanted to talk about wine. Nothing. No one was interested in helping. We decided to try the bar one last time. No dice. We didn't exist. So we left - and we won't be back. read more

Our understanding of wines by country, region, terroir, varietal has grown greatly. Ruben is a fantastic guide and an exciting salesman. We're much more confident these days in both pairing wines with foods and selecting wines for other situations. It's true that sometimes you have to be patient, but that's just the culture at El Wine Chateau. Ruben and Lilia will always give their customers as much time as they need to be educated in their selection. They're absolutely lovely. Patience is key because the selection of wines is curated and exclusive. I always appreciate Ruben's help to find new, hard to find wines that suit my palette The real treat is the Wine Club. Once a month you experience a focused education with a group of equally interested individuals. Lilia prepares a small plate of food that is culturally/regionally matched with the wines. And you get to take a couple bottles of the wine(s) you prefer with you. Well worth the club fees. I suggest coming in to El Wine Chateau with an open mind. Treat it as an experience, not a trip to the store. Imagine you're going to someone's home who happens to purvey an amazing collection of wines. You will be amazed! Cute place with a good membership club and interesting wines. But if you stay and drink the wine it seems over priced and they charge you a corking fee, which may be the law. I'm not sure. The previous reviewers nailed it... there are always 12 for $99 or 6 for $50 deals going on and I haven't been disappointed yet. To add more, there's a wine club you can join that's fully worth it. For $35/mo, you are invited to a catered tasting party. You leave with your choice of 2 of the sample wines (or 1 extra special wine), which individually value higher than the club price. Ruben (the owner), also has free tastings on Friday evenings that are open to anyone who walks into the store. Nice folks. The music is Mexican... kind of goes with the confused name: half Mexican, half French. They have several nice wines available for purchase, but the ambience is weird. My wife and went into this establishment and even joined the wine club. We noticed almost every time we went we were either over charged or charged for something we never got or never ordered. Every time i tried to speak to the owner he would always say i will give you a free bottle of your choice when you come in next time. That never happened. When we realized that most of the wine club offerings was stuff we didn't want. El Wine Chateau hit my credit card at least four more times after i canceled. I finally had to request a new card. Wine prices here we definitely inflated. We got to the point we couldn't even drag ourselves back in here because we dreaded going back that much. read more

As I was scanning my new Clipper Magazine (mag. full of local coupons) I saw an ad/coupon for a new wine store in Keller (this is great news for our fair city!). Several days later, I was invited to a friend's house for dinner and wanted to share with her my new, favorite summer wine - the Italian Albarino. The grape is grown in the northern part of Italy in a very limited amount, therefore, it is not available at your local grocer or gas station! After calling several wine outlets in the area, with no luck, I remembered the ad for El Wine Chateau. I gave them a call and, much to my delight, they had an Albarino! I spoke with the owner, Ruben Reynoso, and he was very helpful. I told him I would stop by on my way to dinner and he offered to chill the bottle for me so it would be ready when I picked it up. Ah, service with a smile from a local business!! I ran in and Ruben and I had a great conversation about the Albarino and the other wines in his shop; he has a wonderful variety and most are under $15.00. Don't get me wrong, this is not a chain like Wine Styles, but rather a local wine lover who wants to offer nice, affordable wines to all of us winos, I mean, wine connoisseors. Ruben also said he will do tastings for any wine you care to taste before purchasing. So, if you want to shop for wine without dealing with a packed parking lot and crowds (such as Central Market, World Market, etc...) and get one-on-one attention then take a trip to El Wine Chateau. Let's support our local, small businesses! *Helpful hint: if you live in this area you know what a pain the *** this part of Main St./Hwy. 377 can be. So, may I suggest taking 1709 to Elm St. (just east of Main/377). Turn left (S) then turn right (W) on Vine St. This will dead end to Main/377. This place is fantastic. DO NOT BELIEVE THE POOR REVIEWS. If you enjoy fine wine and a cozy atmosphere this is the place to go. One of the best things about this place compared to the others in the area are the prices. This is a wine store that doubles as a tasting room. You can drink quality wine without the 2x-4x up-charge tasting rooms charge for glasses or bottles of wine. His prices are very competitive to what you will find online but with the benefit of not having to incur a shipping charge if you really find something you love. He carries a large variety of wines you CAN NOT find in local stores. If you want that favorite wine that you find in a grocery store you will probably not find it here. However, If you are interested in venturing out and trying fantastic different types of wine from different regions this is your place. You only pay a small corkage fee ($6) if you buy a bottle and want to enjoy the wine there and order a cheese/meat tray, which is very good, or enjoy the live music on the weekends. The owner Ruben is extremely nice and loves to educate and answer all the questions you have and help pick a bottle that fits your palate. This place can get busy on the weekends but Ruben does a very good job getting around to everyone and answering questions and recommending wine. If you show up when it is busy just politely tell him you would like a recommendation, tasting, etc when he gets a chance and have a seat and relax. He will get to you within a few minutes and is glad to help. Just remember he is one man and EVERYONE wants to talk to him about wine. Wine is supposed to be enjoy slowly so sit back and relax and you will not be disappointed. He is happy to give free tastings to find a bottle or glass of something you like. If you want the private tasting experience and expect Rubens undivided attention from the second you walk in I suggest you go during the week or earlier in the day when he is not as busy trying to help everyone. I believe the poor reviews are from people who have unrealistic expectations when they show up at 7pm on a Saturday and expect Ruben to ignore his other customers so he can cater to whoever walks in the door at that moment. Some of these bad reviews are just shocking. If you expect free wine all night in the form of tastings you need a reality check. In California tasting rooms will charge $15-80 just for tasting wine that is half the quality of what Ruben opens up for tastings every day. If tasting an assortment of wine is all you are looking to do then you pay for a flight ($12). A glass of wine is either $8 or $12. These are very good prices considering the $8 glass is usually from a $25-35 bottle and the $12 glass is from a $45-55 bottle. Good luck trying to find a better deal considering his pours are usually 5oz or more. I highly suggest this place! read more
