Between courses you often have different pallet cleansers or treats to keep things interesting. The service is top notch and after visiting several times you feel like part of the family. The ambiance is small and intimate in a home like setting. The BYOB option is excellent as well if you have a wine in your cellar you are excited to try. Truly some of the best food I've ever eaten. They grow a lot of their own produce and the chef went to gather herbs for the dishes as dinner progressed. All of the dishes tasted so fresh, flavorful, and like they were made with love. The service was impeccable! The waitstaff was attentive and the chef came to explain every dish. Everything about our dinner was great, we were greeted and sat with delicious salmon mousse and bread. We loved that it was byob. Dinner started with a risotto and shrimp, then a beautiful salad, followed by a perfectly cooked filet and veggies from their garden. Finished with a cream filled crepe and strawberries. I went here for a friends birthday dinner one Saturday night. Parking was limited to street parking and empty business lots next to it with tow signs. Our driver didn't want to risk it so she parked a few blocks down and we took a little walk. This is a converted house that had a real nice homey feel to it. The service was outstanding from start to finish. They had fresh bread with butter and a strawberry jam already out for us and this was a nice start. The 4 course dinner was $70.00 and is a set menu chosen by the chef, they use Clover and I noticed there was a $2.80 card fee too. 1st course was head on U-9 shrimp with risotto. This had a homemade olive oil sauce and a Thai chili sauce to go with it. This was delicious, the risotto was perfectly cooked and the shrimp were hot and full of flavor. Noticed the heat but not too spicy. 2nd course was a strawberry mixed greens salad, that had a creamy sauce on the bottom of the plate with shaved almonds. Was not sure if I would like this combination but it was also very tasty. 3rd course was Filet Mignon with a port demi, roasted carrots and mashed potatoes. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked. Mashed potatoes were creamy and mixed well with the steak and veggies. 4th course was a key lime mousse that had a graham cracker crumble. This was good but probably my least favorite thing of the night. The flavor was good but kind of one note on the texture even with the crumble. I really liked the table, tree section that had been finished. Make note though that there are some holes in the table (I accidentally spilled some red wine on Max's white polo, sorry Max!). The place is BYOB, everyone brought wine but since I do not drink wine I brought Whiskey. I will note that the house was a little warm temp wise but I run hot too. All in all this was a fantastic experience and the food killed it for the most part. I would gladly go back anytime and would highly recommend giving it shot! read more

This place is fabulous. We had seen this place for a while and hubby said he wanted to go there for his birthday meal and I was happy we were able to get a reservation. They only serve around 20 people per service so it feels very intimate. They also offer a wine pairing for each page which was a nice touch. They brought us delicious bread with butter and roasted red pepper spread for the bread. To start we had a kielbasa sausage risotto which is huge for an appetizer and I never would put those things together but it worked. Second course was a salad which was so delicious, probably my favorite course. Then for our main we had a steak cooked medium rare with a mushroom sauce. For dessert it was a white chocolate mousse with berries. The servers were all friendly and informative and the house had a lovely atmosphere and decor. I suggest trying it at least once for the experience perfect for a special occasion. read more

We have wanted to eat at Chef's House for quite a while and when we celebrated our 32nd Anniversary a few weeks ago, we finally did. Let me tell you, the entire experience was incredible! First we were in a smaller room by ourselves which I loved. I mean every aspect from the service to the food was outstanding. We brought a bottle of wine, they open it for you and pour your glass. As each course is serviced they tell you all about it. They start off with home made bread and butter with Olive Oil and an incredible Red Pepper and Goat Cheese dip. So good that I ate too much and almost struggled to finish each course. Long story short, it's definitely worth the visit. I dove into my first course before I remembered to take a picture and completely forgot by the time I got to dessert. We will be back. read more

My husband and I went here for his 40th birthday dinner. First of all, the atmosphere is cozy, warm, inviting, and vibrant! It was Christmas time so there was an added level of coziness! Secondly, the service and hospitality was top notch. We brought our own bottle of wine (found out we didn't need to because you can get a wine pairing for $30/person), but they poured it for us, brought us complimentary champagne to celebrate his birthday, and there was rarely an empty plate left on the table. And last, the food was delicious. I really enjoyed the arugula salad we had and of course the steak and mashed potatoes, too! The cost for the meal was very affordable ($70/pp for our 4 course meal) for what you get with the experience, the quality, and the service. We reserved our first visit to Chef House on Yelp. The time available was at 2 PM, which we did not know was still brunch. Mimosas were perfectly balanced, and bottomless! The three prescribed courses were all wonderful: crepes, filet mignon with potatoes, and chocolate mousse. All perfectly cooked and meat to diner's preferred temperature. Right balance of salty, sweet, bitter, and spicy. Brunch is not my favorite kind of food, so for me to be a fan of their brunch might mean many will love it! read more

My parents have been talking about this rearauarnt for weeks and finally took me there. Food was amazing and the people are really friendly. Everyone explains the dish and how it was made. For starters, we had a great risotto that was full of flavor. Then we had a salad followed by an aged steak with mashed potatoes, carrots, and broccoli. Steak was cooked perfect medium rare. For dessert a flavorful hazelnut mousse. There were no leftovers at the end. It is a cute restauarant that is very unique and I highly recommend it. My daughter, husband and grandchildren brought me here for Mother's Day, normally they are not open on Sunday, but they have had such a great response to Sunday that they are considering adding Sundays more often, or so I was told. Ok, let me share with you what makes Chef's House different than most restaurants I've been to in the Roanoke, Keller, North FTW area. It's completely Chef Curated. Every evening is a several course meal, all carefully arranged and selected by the Chef, Sous Chef and staff, our meal started with some in house baked bread, fresh butter, EVOO, and a purée that was so fresh, I really should have asked to buy some to take home. Before the first course comes out, there is a small serving of a palate cleanser juice/spritzer to refresh your mouth, ours was a mixture of fresh fruit including açaí and I was grateful for it, as our first course was a delicate seafood crepe topped with salmon Roe, the flavors were fresh, lite, and the portion was perfect. The crepe was followed by a garden fresh salad made with my favorite arugula, house made dressing, and a delicate cheese that paired so perfectly with the fresh vegetables. The main course was the most delicious filet mignon I've ever had, served on a bed of the smoothest, velvety mashed potatoes. Our meal was finished with a small, rich, decadent chocolate mousse. The entire experience was top notch, I would recommend Chef's House for any occasion that you want those you invite to feel special, important and valued. I also recommend this cozy spot for events where you are showing appreciation such as employees that have reached a milestone, graduation, etc. The atmosphere is eclectic with interesting decor to stimulate your curiosity along with your appetite. I truly appreciated not having to agonize over a menu, it added another layer to my experience, but I like surprises and trying new things. You can see the daily offerings/menu on their website, however, because we went on Mother's Day, which was a special event, the menu wasn't available. One last thing, I cannot forget to mention the service, we felt looked after and cared for by everyone that engaged with us, something often missing in higher end restaurants imho. So if you have a loved one with a special birthday, anniversary, etc. I recommend Chef's House, I truly give it a 10/10 I wish I had photo's, because of our family gathering I chose to keep my phone in my purse and focus on them, but I can tell you that the photos available are very accurate, so make sure to look thru those available above. Lastly, as you walk up, notice the garden beds to the right side of the building, much of their fresh produce is grown right there on site! read more

Absolutely amazing! This was hands-down the best restaurant meal I have ever had. From start to finish, every course was perfection. We began with silky pappardelle in an herb and sundried tomato Alfredo, rich and flavorful without being heavy. The second course was a fresh baby arugula salad topped with creamy goat cheese, roasted pecans, sweet strawberries, and a bright citron vinaigrette -- the perfect palate refresher. The entrée was the showstopper: a perfectly cooked filet mignon draped in a decadent black truffle demi-glace, melt-in-your-mouth tender and bursting with flavor. Dessert was a surprise creation from the chef, and it was the perfect sweet ending to the night. The service? Out of this world. The staff (family owned) made us feel like VIPs, anticipating our needs before we even asked and creating an atmosphere that was warm, welcoming, and truly special. Good, amazing! My boyfriend had never had arugula before, as he always hated the spiciness of it. Not only did he eat his arugula salad, but tried to fork his way into mine. Beyond this amazing - the tasting menu was super herb. The chef's flavors were so fresh. The protein was absolutely mouthwatering. I've never had any experience like I've had at chef's house. Coming from a foodie who does a lot of at home cooking and a lot of restaurant dining. I have never had an experience like this throughout all of my travels. I would absolutely recommend coming any night. Don't be frightened enough that it's a prefix menu. You will absolutely love every single drop.
