I thought it was cool I could do that. I guess they have the same owners. After dinner my family all came over to have some of their world famous Old Fashions. We sat in the back at their big table, drank Old Fashions, and played games. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. We probably tried all the Old Fashions. We even tried them smoked. We've not had them smoked the way they did them. They smoke the glass and ice, then they pour the Old Fashioned into the cup. Yummy. read more

I liked this bar! There were plenty of regulars who seemed engrossed in conversation with the bartender, giving the place a "Cheers" like feel. They have an extensive menu of different takes on an old-fashioned, I ordered the classic. You can order off the menu from the restaurant next door and they'll bring it right to you. True to its name, the establishment is on the corner of a small shopping center with a large covered patio and outdoor fireplace before the entrance. If you're looking for a hidden gem, Ron's is it! Nancy, the bartender, makes an award winning old fashioned and it'll be the best you'll ever have! They've got a whole wall of whiskey to choose from, about 30ish draft taps to choose from (craft beer + local breweries). If you're in the mood for Cajun food, they've got a Bourbon St restaurant right next door that they're in collaboration with and sell food during the day until about ~8pm. But very good food as well!! All of their bartenders and staff are very accommodating and this place provides such a chill atmosphere, I promise you, Ron's does not disappoint. So, having lived in the mid-cities for over three years, I'm not sure how we missed Ron's Corner Tavern until recently. It is in fact tucked back in a corner of a strip mall that we frequent other businesses in. That said, we are so glad we noticed it and decided to pop in. We sat at the bar, which is comfortable and nicely appointed. The staff was extremely friendly and we ordered up a couple beers from the happy hour menu, which was very reasonably priced. When we took a look at the menu, the oysters on the half shell immediately caught our eye and we ordered a dozen. They were absolutely delicious and served perfectly. We will definitely be visiting Ron's on the regular going forward. Highly recommended. read more

I met up with some friends for a catch-up session on a weeknight. The place wasn't very crowded and we had a good time. The beer was cold and the bar food appetizers were great. So, I finally got to check this spot out after having it on my bookmark list for a long while. I was super pleased with everything this place has to offer. Great beer selection, the foods we had (both sandwiches- French dip and Cuban) were excellent! Definitely opt for the buffalo fries. I love the quaint interior, lovely little pub feel. I'm pretty sad that I just discovered how great this place is when it's been right down the road and now we're moving 30 mins away. *sad face* We've been here 2 weekends in a row around lunch time and both times the food was very good! The first time we came we had a groupon. Meaning we had $30 to spend on food. For this place, that is hard to do because their food is so cheap and has huge portions! The hubs ordered the brisket quesadilla which he said was delicious (and still raves about!), I had the house salad which was HUGE and a cup of chili (also yummy), and we both ordered 2 lunch entrees to go, the chicken tacos and the roast beef sandwich with fries. The roast beef wasn't very good reheated, but I'm sure it's delicious while still hot and fresh. So. Much. Food! The second time we came we split the Ron's Sampler which comes with fried pickles, buffalo fries (omg!), southwest egg rolls, wings, mozzarella sticks, and chips & salsa. And TONS of ranch dipping sauce. The hubs and I couldn't finish it and took about half to go. Everything was good of course. Also, the cherry limeade drink is so good! I went to Ron's for the first time as part of a Yelp event, and left amazed that I haven't discovered this venue sooner. Located on the other side of Airport Fwy from where Starbucks is located (heading east) & close to Cheddar's, Ron's Corner Tavern has to be one of the few locales that have some of the most unique craft beers in all of the DFW area. I consider myself a beer aficionado to a degree, yet there were beers that were so rich in taste as well as unique (the Maybach beer) that I couldn't think of anything comparable. If you have a large group of 10+, you'll find the indoor seating being a tad limited and somewhat loud during any game day or other local event. However, there is outdoor seating that is quite comfortable, particularly with the backdrop of a warm fireplace that greets you upon entry. There are usually two bartenders and two servers, and they are quite approachable as well as knowledgeable in what you need. Ron's also has a full menu option that you can choose from as well. While I was only here for the beer (not a bad thing), I did notice several tables ordering from the menu and receiving their food quite promptly. Overall, a good after 5 place to stop in while heading home from work that have brews and other alcohols that don't suck. read more

What a great place!! Thanks to The Yelp Elite Squad, my friend and I had a BLAST at Ron's! The place was a bit crowded but one of the things I really loved was that all the bartenders and servers made eye contact and smiled - the whole time we were there, even through the rush and our crowded event. No pretentiousness here!!! A TON of tap beers to choose from - my friend and I each tried different and they were both super delicious. We also had an Old Fashioned each, and the fresh juice and blend of bitters has a nice, cozy spice that we both enjoyed a lot. We had a second one later! The other great thing about Ron's is the local patrons are just as friendly and inviting as the staff. We met friends from previous events and made new friends at the bar. In addition to the drinks, the bar bites were really good! Marinara for the cheese sticks seemed home made, and the salsa was also yummy. My favorite thing were the chicken wings! AWFUL AND UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE I am not new to first-class treatment and five-star accommodations around the world; however, I've never experienced such outrageous kind of treatment in my own hometown. I walked in as a normal person, and I should be able to come in as a normal person and have a cocktail while listening to good music. Unfortunately, the night ended differently when I was told by the manager PAUL to leave and never come back, due to the fact I didn't like my Manhattan Cocktail. While asking the server why a drink was still on my tab that I took ONE SIP from and sent back, the manager PAUL came to me aggresively and asked why I ordered something I did not like. I tried to explain how I always order a Manhatten, however I did not care for THIS one. The manager PAUL demanded I pay for the drink anyway, and continued to belittle me in front of the everyone in the restaurant. Then to add insult to injury, while walking away he screamed for me to leave and never come back to "his bar" . I was immediately embarrassed and worried about the consequences of resisting my ejectment because I am an African American woman, being YELLED AT BY A GROWN MAN. So, I left without raising my voice or otherwise resisting the managers commands. I have NEVER experienced such outrageous treatment and racial discrimination in my life until now, and trust and believe that this WILL be going beyond a Yelp review. read more

Okay, so I hadn't checked this place out for months after I've heard about them. I was initially checking them out because Google listed them as a smoke-free bar, which they are, and I absolutely love that. Paul is exceptional as far as bartenders go, and Cedric is just as awesome (I also admit that Jesse is awesome too, but I've not had weeks of being his customer). The bartenders are very knowledgeable and if you tell them your taste, they'll likely be able to point you in a direction. Their beer options change weekly, with some favorites remaining each week and new coming, and I value that as I get to try new drinks. I've found more in depth the kind of beers I like through comparing the ones I enjoy drinking and reading the description that tells what flavors are in there; so rather than just knowing I prefer Ambers and Browns, I learn that I like the amber beers with caramel notes and the browns with nutty flavors, or the stouts with coffee or chocolate as opposed to the stouts with bourbon flavor. The people here are amazing, friendly, and also very in control of the place, in the sense that they don't cut corners or let certain things fly. The patrons are chill, the place is calm and relaxed. This is a place you can come and do anything at all, read or socialize or work on something for hours. I love this place read more

Walking in your ambush with a cloud of cigarette smoke. As you have to enter via the smoking section for both it and the bar next door. This place is tiny and dark. Beautiful wood everywhere to be seen. Definitely had a rustic vibe. Our waitress was friendly, literally taking a seat and talking to us while we ordered. I normally don't eat multiple cheese sticks in a row, however, if you dip them in breading and deep fry them I can definitely do it. In other words we ordered mozzarella sticks. They were delicious but they had definitely ruptured in the deep fryer from cooking too long. Our main courses followed briefly afterwards. Y'all, the food was so good I don't remember what my eating companion ordered. I was engrossed. I ordered the smokehouse brisket quesadilla. Their sweet barbecue sauce has the tiniest bit of kick to it, the meat was super moist and they weren't shy with the cheese.
