This was a cute little place that I would have never found if not specifically looking for it, truly. The interior is a beautiful wood style that is cozy and highly memorable western bar with a dark and intimate loft where the karaoke happens. I started off with their signature cinnamon smoked old fashioned that was smooth and complex and kept the good Thursday's night vibes going with a classic blue moon. Food is ordered and delivered to go from next door, which is convenient and becoming more common in bars these days but I did not try it out this time around. The new training bartender and lead bartender were both friendly and incredibly easy to talk to, I had a great time yapping with them before my party arrived. I've heard so much about this place so, when Kendal invited me to come here. I made arrangements to check it out. I'm so glad I did! It was a cute cozy pub that played great tunes. It was dark and cool in there. People just kept to themselves. I had a great refreshing drink filled with Strawberries, Lemons, Sprite and Gin. It was perfect for a hot day and a thirsty girl like myself. Bathrooms were clean except for one stall had poo in there. For some reason, people have a difficult time leaving things behind. Lol. Our bartender was super kind. He was friendly, conversational, and had a sweet voice He is also Kendal's husband! He was prepared for the Yelpies. It's two stories. A group of girls came in 5 minutes after we did and sat at a table then moved to the bar and they were instantly served. My friend and I came to Hooligan's Pub for Elite Week. We hadn't been here before. It is a small pub in the UT-A campus area. There is not a lot of parking in the area. What a fun funky place that's hidden away. The bar is appointed beautifully with lots of dark wood. The bar-back is massive and very impressive. I ended up ordering the Cinnamon Smoked Old Fashion and my wife ordered "The Mockingbird." I've never met an "Old Fashion" that I didn't enjoy. It's a classic cocktail. Hooligan's put a neat spin on a classic. My wife enjoyed her Mockingbird which consisted of gin, strawberries, Lime and Sprite. My wife and I both had a nice time leisurely enjoying our drinks. I visited my buddy in Dallas and we had a Sunday fun day to the fullest. Our last stop that day was Hooligan's Pub, one of his favorite bars. He is a hooligan so I'm not surprised. All jokes aside, Hooligan's Pub has your classic pub feel. A laid-back vibe, a large beer list, and decent prices are some of the things you'll find at Hooligan's. We sat at the bar, had a drink, and called it a night. Funny enough, there was a tag mixer going on there. We're talking the game where you run after people, touch them, and they become it. The aesthetic is fun and there's cool games of thronesy chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The bartenders are great. Sometimes there's only one bartender and it can get a little backed up, but for the most part it's pretty great and you'll get your drink pretty speedily. They have pool and darts upstairs. They don't actually serve food, but you can order off the J Gilligan's menu (they're next door). Try the Irish Nachos! At Hooligan's, try a mule or a local beer. Or whisky. We stopped by on a Saturday night and it was surprisingly slow. However, we just missed the pre concert rush so the timing was perfect. This pub is what you would see on the movies. Lots of wood, lots of chairs at the bar, and lots of alcohol. It had two floors and upstairs had a couple of high top tables and a pool table. Ryan was our bartender and even though he was trying to clean up after the rush and had just came in, he was very attentive. We started with the cinnamon smoked old fashion and it was pretty cool how they made the drink. My husband said it tasted like cinnamon flavor whiskey. It was strong so he took his time with a sip here and there. I had the mockingbird. It was sweet and citrusy and not too strong. I also ordered the strawberry limeade. You couldn't taste the alcohol and it reminded me of the limeade you can get at Sonic. It was delicious and tasted like fresh strawberries. So good. We would've probably stayed longer and tried other drinks, but unfortunately due to the concert, they were not serving food. We will just be sure to eat beforehand next time. Interesting bar. Have been here on numerous occasions over the past couple of months. Bar tenders are very friendly. If you are a bourbon drinker, they have a nice selection for high but not extravagant pricing. Weller 12, Elmer T Lee, Weller Full Proof, etc. They also claim they are willing to sell unopened bottles of allocated bourbon. Here is the problem...they want a mark up a $60 bottle to $290. Even for a regular that has spent over $300 in the past month on pours at the bar. They are charging $290 for Weller 12. So a complete stranger can come up to the bar and buy the allocated bourbon for the same amount as a regular customer. Hard to support ownership that does not support people who want to be regulars. If the ownership would have paced any value on my continuing business, I would be there on a weekly basis. Would have given the place 1 star but for the bartenders. Will be spending my money and taking my friends to a different bar in the future. read more

My husband loved the rainbow shot it's awesome to look an it's a definite a shot you drink with a straw to get all the flavors in the right combination. I'm going to be honest. I do not care for bars in Arlington. I've lived in downtown Fort Worth and downtown Dallas. I have high expectations. I will tell you that Hooligans is probably the nicest bar aesthetically in Arlington. Hand crafted wood walls and pillars. Mark and Ryan are amazing bartenders who make fantastic cocktails. Ask them for an old fashioned, a whiskey sour, or a Sazerac cocktail. They both deliver , and as a former bartender, they know how to make these cocktails in the classic recipe which means a lot to me. The atmosphere is always great, and classy. The bar is also a place that always has the Dallas Stars games on the main screens. The upstairs area has darts and a pool table. It's a great place for a date or just hanging out with friends. I highly recommend it if you want something nicer than what most of Arlington has to offer. read more

This is a no-foolin' authentic pub. The woodwork and bar are fabulous- like a few London pubs that have been around for many years, well crafted with an impressive bar as well. There's a second floor with pool tables and other entertainments. We dropped in on a Thursday evening for a mixed drink. There were several happy hour choices. The barkeep made Old Fashioned's and this establishment doesn't push rotgut ryes into the mix, they were outstanding. The stools were actually comfy too, with a back to lean against without feeling like your spine was being mashed into a meat grinder. I'll definitely be back, this could easily become a favorite hangout if it was closer to home. Worth a try. They also offer a limited option of food. read more

Holligans is quickly becoming a prudent stop for me. It fills a niche that doesn't quite exist in Garland, so to speak. What niche? That is complicated to answer. It's the only Irish Pub on this side of Arlington... "Not so fast, Cass! What about J. Gills?!" True, but if you have been to J. Gills, you know - it's more of a dining or college student beer drinking destination. In all of my visits, I have never seen an "Old Fashioned advertised at J. Gills." It's the only bar like those types in Denton... "Not so fast, Cass! What about Tipsy Oak?" True, but that is more of a music venue place with a strong focus on food, that compares more to Social House. "Cass, there are plenty of quiet bars that you can go to. Bentley's, Caves..." True again, but I would contend that this place has something special (besides being much cleaner looking than Caves and has a more craft cocktail vibe than Bentley's) compared to other places in Arlington. A feel, better quality cocktail. Plus, it is always vibrant. It has parking in the front and back, open until 2AM, and serves food from J. Gills. Bring some coins for the novelty Breathalyzer machine, and enjoy the feel of old downtown. read more

I have been frequenting Hooligans for years now and have always loved the space, crafted cocktails, and local vibes, but there has not been a good experience for me here at least three visits in a row. I am not sure if they are understaffed, but all of my recent visits have left me feeling frustrated and sad. I waited for almost twenty minutes for a bartender to even take notice of me and I was sitting at the bar and not a table. The man who finally took my drink order became very attentive once I explained that his coworker had ignored me and my boyfriend the entire time and kept taking drink orders from people who were walking up and just ignored us even though we tried multiple times to order a drink. I was thankful for the bartender who took our order, but this seems to be the norm here now. My old fashioned was good, but not for the experience I had to get it. This makes me sad because I love this space and the nostalgia that it brings me, but Arlington has so many other great spots were I don't have the same problems. I noticed other individuals that were coming in and trying to order as well and eventually they left. I hope things start to turn around soon, but until I hear otherwise I think I will stick to my normal watering holes. read more

So.. Hooligan's is the closest thing to a craft beer & cocktail bar that Arlington has. (Keep in mind I said AND cocktail - there are a few craft beer places that have popped up) The bartenders have more of a "mixologist" attitude than other places. They have a decent amount of craft beer on tap (not a TON) and an extensive cocktail menu. I'll take it! They have a limited menu from surrounding restaurants that either rotates or maybe I've just seen it chance a couple of times. That really helps that you can eat even though they aren't set up with a kitchen. I have been to Hooligan's many times and I am a huge fan. Always enjoyed the staff, they will gladly put a football or baseball game on for you (there's only 3 TVs in the place - one outside too I think), and their drink quality is good. I have had a couple of "okay" drinks, but I was experimental. I highly recommend one of their staples, the Limey. It is full of citrus-y goodness! My only criticism, and it's not a terrible one, is the prices. They do cost a lot more than other bars in the area, but I think they have a better product. So we are willing to pay more. But we are not regulars by any means.. our drinks definitely cost more than our dinner on the nights we go, but I do love it when we're there. They have a jukebox that you can control with an app, so it's fun to pick your music too. Upstairs there's pool and I believe there's darts, but we tend to stay downstairs at the bar. Great beer selection, great location, and great atmosphere. However, I've been drinking Guinness more than half of my life throughout pubs around the world. I came to Hooligans Pub this week after a ball game for a pint of Guinness and received this. Never in my life have a seen a worst Guinness pour than this. More than 60% of it was foam, not even in a Guinness mug. I thought this was a joke when I received this drink. When I inquired with the bartender, she stated "oh that's how it usually pours out it'll level out shortly". After, she topped it off to try and equal it out. NO! For an Irish Pub, I encourage owners/management to teach their staff how to pour a traditional pint of Guinness draught, hence, being an Irish Pub. read more

The patio area outside was filthy with used glassware. As we walked in, all the tables were unoccupied, all of them were dirty and full of dirty glassware. I used to come here a lot in my college days, and had a great experience coming back for a nostalgic visit during St. Patrick's. It's location is great, being right in the middle of downtown, surrounded by other bars and restaurants. This is everything an Irish pub should be and more. The interior is a traditional rustic feel.. the lighting and all the hard wood makes it feel so authentic. We also enjoy sitting outside in the adorable corner niche they have set up with picnic tables and what not. The bartenders are very friendly and trained well... always extremely attentive and make the best mules in Arlington. The mules and their specialty shots are always delicious. I would highly recommend you try the Irish Mule. There's a drink special no matter what day you visit.
