My wife made an 8pm reservation at Hearsay on Feb 13 for my birthday. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill, no host at the stand, a confused first day server, and explicit music blasting overhead. Service was disorganized, and our Caesar salad was delivered to another table. When our entrées finally arrived, the quality was shocking. My steak was overcooked, dry, and oddly hot and cold at the same time. My wife's portobello pasta was so overloaded with black pepper it was literally inedible. We politely told the server we'd like the check for what we had eaten and drank. She went to get the manager which is where the night completely unraveled. The manager, approached us with zero professionalism, no apology, and an accusatory tone. When we explained the issue with the pasta, he looked at my wife and said, "Well, that's your opinion." When I stated I didn't want to pay for an inedible dish, he responded: "Well then I'm going to call the police." I've worked in and around restaurants my whole life, and I've never witnessed anything like this. I ended up paying just to avoid further escalation. They also failed to credit the $25 reservation fee. We've enjoyed Mercury Chophouse many times, but after this experience, we will think twice about visiting any restaurant associated with this group. This place is so cool, we went when it opened so it was pretty empty but that allowed us to be able to look around and chat with the staff more. The place has such a cool 20s vibe, it's crazy to think what that space was when the ballpark was running to what it is now. The Grinch Heart was a great Xmas-themed drink that really puts you in a holiday mood. I first contacted Hearsay on January 23 in an attempt to book a memorial service for my father in one of their private rooms. After not hearing from the event planner Meggan for nearly two weeks (after sending several emails and trying to come up with a menu that would meet contract needs) she proceeded to ghost me. I then called the restaurant after two weeks in order to speak with someone over the phone. However, I was told Meggan was busy working on another event by an incredibly dismissive person over the phone. I insisted on leaving my number in hopes that someone would contact me but to no avail. I am incredibly disappointed by the lack of professionalism and service this place has offered in what is an otherwise quite stressful time in my life. I've only been here for a cigar and drinks. Each time it's been extremely pleasant. It's a blast having a cigar on the patio overlooking the old ball park. Even though it is an xfl field now. I was at hearsay yesterday for dinner watched Kaylee the manager handle one of the craziest situations I've seen in a restaurant. A whole group of people surrounded her, yelling, recording her on their phones, and trying to intimidate her over an entrée that had already been comped and a gratuity issue. It was honestly uncomfortable to watch. Through all of it, she never lost her cool. She didn't raise her voice, didn't get defensive, and didn't let them bully her. She stayed calm, explained everything clearly, and handled it like a true professional. A lot of managers would have folded under that kind of pressure, but she didn't. On top of that, the restaurant was extremely busy -- and the food still came out great. Everything was fresh, hot, and on point, which says a lot about how well she runs her team even during chaos. If I could just give a Meh.... but it wouldnt be fair to the reader or restaurant. This place is in a perfect location and the ascetics are stunning. We had already eaten so just wanted a few appetizers but the waitress told us the kitchen was closed. Then a couple sat next to us and had menus to handed to them by another waiter. They attempted to order and our bartender told them the kitchen was closed. The couple said the other bartender told them different but our bartender took the menus. After a few back and forths the other bartender apologized to them but made sure they still got food. Yep... Then the band that had been advertised was not there so we were dissapointed at that but there was still a band. We know things happen. Then my wife ordered gin and ginger ale and the bartender brought her coke and sprite mixed in gin. Then she explained they didn't have ginger ale but "its the same thing". My wife asked for sprite and gin bc she didnt like coke and sprite. We're pretty forgiving especially when we go out because we go for the service primarily anyways and not to have to cook for ourselves. After not being able to eat but watch someone else get a fresh meal in front of us, voluntarily add something to the drink without explaining before the bartender then decided to clean while we sit and enjoy the band. With a sanitation bucket on the bar and it wasnt closing time. It was just a little after 10pm on a Friday. Check out the pic I've added to this post. If I could give zero stars I would. I wish there were enough characters to go through everything that went wrong. We had a large party which admittedly can be harder to handle. However, it was a group of adults gathering for a business dinner, orders ready to go etc. It was over half an hour until we had drinks and well over an hour before we received food. No steak knives, multiple repeat requests for things like another drink, extra plate, etc. When the food finally did come half of it was either cold or overcooked (steaks). I personally ordered a side car espresso martini with Bailey's. It was extremely sour and the milk appeared curdled. After sending it back (literally have never sent anything back ever) the server let me know there was something wrong with the espresso machine. Honestly I can't remember a time that I've been more disappointed when dining ever, let alone for the price and a place that is supposed to be upscale. The card provided was also charged twice. The entire dinner was a complete disaster. The lot was empty but monitored by parking staff. We were informed that a baseball game was scheduled for that evening and that parking would cost $60. We asked where the restaurant parking was. We were told Lot L, about a half mile away. Went to Lot L and were informed that parking would cost $35. We called Hearsay and asked where the restaurant parking was located We were informed that there was no designated parking for restaurant patrons that was not subject to ballgame parking fees. If we had been aware of this we would never have placed reservations. I would like to suggest that you clearly note this on your reservations website. Would have saved us a wasted trip. Went for New Year's Eve. The waiter was busy serving the music side of the restaurant where she gets better tips so she neglected taking our order. We had to ask the manager to send someone to take our order. He acted like we were bothering him. We would have just left but we had already paid for a New Year's Eve package.
