Took our twenty's out for a drink and they choose here. This is the perfect dive bar. Inside is dark and cramped with all kinds of memorabilia on the walls. There is a fun big parked out front that of course we had to take pictures with. The patio is unbelievable. It's bigger than the bar . There are all different spots and games out there. Our mixed drinks were kinda bad though. I would just get beer next time. read more

Man, I like this bar. It is dark, kind of weird, has a good music selection and just the best little parking lot patio around. They have all these metal sculptures, including a beer tap palm tree. The drinks are cheap, the bartenders friendly, dogs on the patio and sometimes you can luck out and a food truck pulls up behind and they open the patio to it. It is set back off of the street but they have a giant sign directing you behind the Sunshine Bar. It's a fun little dive in Arlington and a great place to meet up for happy hour. read more

Yay Caves! Its a fun, divey, inexpensive bar with actually good variety. Plenty of beer choices, an extensive martini menu (they put them on sale too), nice staff, a really well-done jukebox with an awesome selection. I used to think that I had to sit on the patio to enjoy Caves but I was wrong. They have a lot of seating, a pool table and you get used to how dark it is. That being said, they do have one of the best patios in the area. Definitely check it out! read more

This place is a legitimate hole. The real deal, swanky dive bar that you'll likely only learn about by word of mouth, because you'd never notice it if you were just driving though the seedy center of Arlington, as it's tucked in amidst rent-by-the-hour motels, used car lots, and bail bondsmen. It's a rarity to find a bar in Tarrant County that seems real. Arlington doesn't have all that many bars in the first place, and most are more like restaurants that happen to serve booze. And Ft. Worth is 99% corporations--chain bars with 40 year old women dressed like school girls or modeled to look like an Irish pub. I don't know what Cave's is trying to look like. Perhaps a cool lounge. In any case, it doesn't try to hard and may even fail, and it's all the better for it. The place does get crowded and it is filled with smoke...but it's a freaking bar. If you want peace & quiet & comfort, you probably shouldn't be in a bar in the first place. Complaining about smoke is almost as bad as saying the bathrooms aren't very clean. Many people mention the jukebox, which is better than most and avoids the standard X-rock frat boy music for the most part. And the drinks are ridiculously cheap at times--even on weekends you can get a $2 drink. read more

Stopped in on Karaoke night. All the singers were entertaining weather their voice was good or not. Enjoyed each participant! The vibe is casual and fun! Did not make it out to the patio due to bad weather. Dog friendly on a leash, only saw two furry buddies! They were both so cute and cuddly I wanted to pet them so bad but I showed restraint. The ambience was eclectic and fun. The weather kept us from the patio so the bar was packed! Will make it a point to come back and check out the patio during better weather! I always have the best time at Caves! They have incredible daily drink specials and their happy hour is kickass. It's M-F from 3-7 ad us $1.75 for domestic drafts and $1.75 for wells. They also make Sunday Funday amazing with $5 double martini's. On Fridays they are doing "Food Truck Friday" and on Sunday's you'll find someone typically grilling in the evenings. Since they are just a bar it's nice to have some food options available and Mr. Jims pizza will also deliver here. The bartenders here are all incredibly friendly and you will feel at-home here. Even the other patrons always seem to be eclectic and fun people. Caves also gets some local bands that will play from time to time. They bar itself has a grunge, punk rock vibe and they have a lot of strange and comical art on the walls. They have a jukebox that also has the best music options and they have a classic videogame like the ones in arcades and one pool table. But my favorite thing about caves is the patio. It is THE BEST PATIO. Period. Forever. It is triple the size of the inside and just gorgeous all around. I think their patio is definitely where most people are going now that you have to smoke outside with the new city rules. You can tell this place used to allow smoking inside, but I am sure over time it will dissipate. read more

One of my favorite dive bars to frequent when I'm in the area. The bar is dark and smoking was recently banned to outside due to new city ordinances so they boast the largest smoking patio. The outside patio is large and spacious and they have a food truck Fridays now! They have movie night Mondays(?) where they play great movie choices. Just a great overall place to come hang out and listen to music and their jukebox is one of the best cause their music choices are fantastic. Finding this place, you have to keep an eye out for when you're coming here, however, once you spot the Caves sign, you'll turn into a gravel lot and park where you can. They typically carry local beers on tap and in bottles/cans as well. They have live bands play once every now and then from local artists so very cool they support the scene. read more

I really have a good time at Caves!! I think the best thing about it is the variety of people it brings in -- people from all walks of life all congregated and having a blast. I've been on Thursday night, which is karaoke night, and it was so fun. Most of the people who sang were actually really good, but the crowd is just as enthusiastic and encouraging to the folks who aren't, so don't be shy. Everyone's cheering each other on. Love the atmosphere as well. There's tons of room and it's all dark with lots of red tones. I like the dia de Los muertos skeleton paintings on the walls. Many unique pieces of artwork. There's also a super spacious patio out back with plenty of tables, some covered. The bartenders were really friendly and I think the drinks are pretty typically priced. My only complaint about Caves is the smoking inside. It's seriously hazy and definitely fragrant. Last time I came home my boyfriend mentioned that I smelled like an ashtray. :| Thanks, dear. But he wasn't exaggerating. Oh well, it's part of the casual vibe going on and I'm still a fan of Caves. read more

Everytime I drive past this place I thinks its going to CAVE in on itself.. and the parking lot looks like it gets hit with meteors every night. This place is old- and I admit I frequent the shack standing between it and Division street more. But if Sunshine is too crowded I'm on to Caves for brew. I will tell you the chubby doorman is a douche. I have a lot of military/out of state visitors and sometimes he's a jerk about letting people in that don't have a Texas DL. Dude, unless it says "McLovin" just let us in!!! The patio was given a facelift a while back and it pretty sweet on cool summer nights- its pretty large, I would dare say larger than the actual bar. This place is amazing. It is also tiny, smoky, and cool with camp value. Its basically a small, dark room with red walls, a pool table, some lounge seating, and Betty Boop on a corner TV on loop. They don't have a lot of variety as far as alcohol goes, so I settle for a Shiner every time. Karaoke Night is a must. The night I went, everybody that sang sounded professional! Seriously, it was like hearing Oasis and Frank Sinatra live. It made mere mortals like myself not want to participate. The patrons were also friendly. In fact, its the only bar I've been to where no one creepy approached me- just normal, college-age people. Normal people wearing trendy clothing, that is. And if this place doesn't float your boat, the Sunshine Lounge is not even a 30 second walk away. read more

I love this place. It's super chill and In a very unassuming location. As an artist, I come here when I'm feeling really creative, surrounded by a truly genius aesthetic. As an alcoholic, I come for the freaking amazing happy hour and I'm always satisfied with my $5 martini from 5-7pm. As a regular person, I come here to let my guard down and have amazing, intimate conversations with the old school juke box playing in the background (sometimes live music, which is also fantastic). I'm not sure how it isn't one of the hottest spots in the area but I'm almost also glad it isn't. I want to tell everyone but then I don't. I think the typical patrons who frequent here prefer it the way it is, but I just wanted to note its potential. It's dark (I'm obsessed with the red lighting and the vibe that gives) and the decor is giving "vintage film"....like a cool movie or project that I would kill to be apart of but instead, it's not much going on, just great bartenders and relaxed locals. There is a massive patio in the back with really cool artsy fixtures of mixed metals etc, that one would expect to find in deep ellum. It's has a very deep ellum vibe but with out all of the pretentious foot traffic. I love it here. read more

what a really fun place! i have never heard of or seen this place and i am really sad i didnt know about this place in college. its close to UTA, it has an outside play area with plenty of seating and eclectic decorations all over the place. def would be a fun photoshoot area. lots of insta moments haha. i went here on a friday after work and it was pretty empty, but even though it was empty i still had fun! i mean there was some people. but the bartender was really nice, knew his bar and what to offer. yeah this place is divey, but it didnt feel dirty or unsafe or small or smelled. if you can just have a good time anywhere theres alcohol with good much and cheap drinks this is the place for you! as i was leaving though more people did come around 9 and the crowd wasn't what i was expecting. clean bathrooms! read more

Do you remember when Dallas was still smoking friendly in bars and Cosmos was so smoky it was like a cloud hung over the whole place and your no matter how hard you tried you smelled like smoke for days and your eyes burned and you had to throw away your shoes? Do you miss that? Well! Friend, head on over to Caves Lounge! ;) Really, smokiness aside, this is exactly the type of bar I would frequent. I had a beer and a shot of jager and we listened to some of the 4 weirdest conversations I've heard ever. I even joked maybe we were at some portal into some weird underworld where we'd be skinned and eaten alive. The place reminds me of a bigger Cosmos, all set with 70's looking furniture and even a fire place-- with a TV running with fake fire in it. My shot of jager was about 1/2 the size of what I'm used to. But the dranks were cheap and it was definitely an entertaining spot to chill for a few! I'll be back. read more

What a shit hole! The decoration is cool, and sometimes good music is played but that aint enough for a good nightlife experience. The service is terrible. I was standing in front of the counter for a good 15 minutes trying to get a beer. The bartender would look at me and broke eye contact immediately. Kinda lame! But he was serving all of his friends a.s.a.p. though. Finally I get my beer, but I was very disappointed. The music is jukebox controlled, so if some guy drops 20 bux on hiphop songs, then you will be listening to hiphop all night. Kinda lame! The crowd here seems cool but cliquey. It will be impossible to meet any kind of new friends here if you show up on your own. The music is way too loud to talk so go elsewhere if you were considering meeting some new people. The Swankiest Dive in Arlington. I've heard the best place to take someone from Austin is the FT Worth Zoo. While that may be true for your Aunt Judy, if you have friends in town, this is the place. It's dark, smoky, delicious. Try to find a better jukebox. All of the bartenders are great, very fast, efficient, and cool. AND THE DRINK SPECIALS are the best in arlington. Wednesday karaoke is hard to beat , and if you can ever catch a live show there- your lucky, it's a small venue for bands and it works. But...they lose a star, because it's about time to fix the parking lot. If it's rainy- get there early, cause the parking lot floods badly in the back. you can also grab a Caves shirt that says on the back: DIVISION ST... not just for bums and prostitutes anymore! a bar with a sense of humor. i like that. read more

It's not as divey as Sunshine, but the jukebox is better and the drinks are generally just as cheap. I like the seating and the patio is AWESOME. The decor and the art are also pretty cool and the bathrooms have been usually clean, even though they have that weird smell of sanitizer that can't quite mask pee. But onto the bad. The ID guys sitting near the door usually cop an attitude though, which bugs me. Every time I've gone, except for a really late Tuesday night, they've been super crowded so if you manage to grab a seat, as soon as you go out to the patio to take a look, your seat is gone. Also, as great as the music is, it's always way too loud so I can barely be heard/hear anyone without shouting. The bar isn't very prompt and even with two bartenders, the lines get pretty bad. I usually go to Caves only after Sunshine, which I like better. Also, on some nights, you can see precious stray kittens running around! If you're drunk enough, you can try to chase them for a snuggle. Beware: they're fast as hell. read more

As close as you can get to Dallas dive-dom and still stay in the mid cities! And I don't mean that in a bad way. Set back significantly from the road on Division St. just West of Cooper St., you are better served looking for the sign than the establishment itself (which is the former Skippy's Mistake, for long-time Arlingtonites). And as noted by some, once located take care navigating a parking lot which had seen better days in the 1980's. But once inside, you will be greeted with an intimate if kitschy setting, populated largely by UTA's alternative scene (all of whom apparently smoke). The jukebox reflects these leanings, but is filled with tunes from just about every era, from Joy Division to Minor Threat to Queens of the Stone Age. The bar staff is friendly and competent (no waitresses, so keep this in mind if you choose a table), the prices reasonable, and there is an inviting patio out back if the smoke inside becomes a problem. So give one of Arlington's most laid-back dives a try and head into the Caves! read more
