This is a cool spot only me second time going, first was years ago and it's definitely going to become a go to for me. It's a hole in the wall spot with good drinks and good wings and food. It's large inside for any die groups and the bar is a good size as well. The wings had a nice crunch to them and the sweet potato fries were delicious. This is a local dive. The bar is spacious with tvs and pool tables and cheap drinks. It's pretty dark inside, but over all a nice local hangout for the area. The parking lot here is a bit sketchy though. I wouldn't come here alone because it just doesn't really feel like a safe area. The service is fine. They have signs outside basically saying you can't come in wearing your gym clothes from the gym next door to them, which I find funny. read more

On the advice of the wonderful and lovely Delilah C, I checked this place out after a horrible, awful, dreadful workday. I arrived at about 6, and parking was INSANELY awful. Like I probably basically parked at Six Flags and walked. Just kidding. Maybe. Now, I was told (and could def tell walking in) that this is a service industry bar. Though at this hour there were a lot of older gentlemen getting off work, and a group of folks playing cards in some sort of tornamemt style setup. It was an interesting cast of characters. One woman was dressed like a flapper girl, with a guy who looked like skinny 90's Eminem. Then there was a wild one armed lady. Then there was a dude that looked like less muscles Brody Jenner got off work at J. Crew that was wearing sunglasses inside. Looked fun though. It was not apparent to me that they even had draft beer, but they did. I found out too late, when I had to get up to pay. I settled for a bottle of beer. The pours on the drinks I witnessed being made looked heavy (Ayyyeeee!!!) and my beers were cold. I came at a transitional time, so I didn't get to talk to staff much. Since smoking is no longer allowed, I wanted to see if I the smome smell was pervasive and if I would smell like it when I left. I didn't! The odd thing is, no one (even the bartenders) really spoke to me other than "what are you having." No one in the place really did either. I had one beer and left, really. It was a pretty out of the way place for me. I may go back later to mingle with the service industry folks in the future (my people!), but I don't think I will hurry there. read more

So..... I went to the Chuggin Monk in Arlington for a couple of drinks with a friend and my brother in law and to play some pool. At the end of the night I went to go pay for my tab. I get the bill and I assumed it was right until I saw 6 drinks I didn't order, and if you drink you know drinks (shots are pricy). I go up to the bartender to let him know I got charged for 6 drinks I didn't order. Mind you, I'm not drunk, I wasn't upset and I wasn't being rude. When I told him that I was charged more than I was supposed to be charged for, he was "YOU LITERALLY JUST ORDERED THOSE DRINKS". I said chill out Brotha I really didn't, I corrected him with I ordered 1 shot of jack Daniels not 6...... after I said "chill out Brotha" he got pissed and called security and kicked me out...... The whole time mind you, I wasn't mad, I wasn't complaining, I just wanted my check fixed. I still even had the cups I used for my drinks lol! I really like the place to have a good time but damn, the workers there are rude and crazy over dramatic. So the story behind this bar... I heard that the previous owners were pulling out and the staff didn't want to see it go so they bought it. That being said, there's nothing fancy about Chuggin' Monk. They have drinks, lots of pool tables, a ping pong table, video game machines, TVs with sports on, and a digital jukebox. I don't know what else you need for a good time. They definitely don't put on any airs that this place is anything more than that. The bartenders are really nice. The first time I went there I told one of them I like lots of limes, ever since every time I go she lines my glass with limes. Just little things that show the bartenders (aka possibly the owners) care to bring their customers back. Could this place be spruced up a bit? Definitely. There's an area for darts (dart board is up) but it's being used for storage. The drink selection is ok, but it's fairly barebones. I don't have a lot of complaints, though. If they want to do more with it to attract more customers, it wouldn't hurt, but as is, it's actually a lot of fun! I will remove a star because there's room for improvement, but I definitely wouldn't want to see the place go and hope the patronage only increases! read more

The bartenders were great and it's a cool place to hang out, but I had an issue with the doorman. I noticed the ashtrays on the tables, but I just wanted to make sure that smoking was allowed. I know that it seems like a stupid question to ask, but I went up to the doorman and asked him if it was allowed. He very condescendingly said, "Uhh well if you see the ashtrays on the tables, wouldn't you think that you can smoke there? So, duh yeah." Like I said, I know it's a stupid question, but I don't understand why he felt the need to intentionally make me feel stupid. It was just really rude and unnecessary. read more

I stopped in here for a beer since I was in the area. I met the new owners and they have some big plans. I have heard this particular spot was not the place to be in the past, but the new guys are serious about a turnaround. This place is really smokey and dark inside, it really has a dive bar feel to it. One of the few places around you can still smoke inside so it's good for you if you want to, bad for people who hate smelling like cigarettes when they leave. read more
