I recently moved to the area and was incredibly excited to try Soy Cowboy First impressions were great: the restaurant is beautiful, the decor is stunning, and the overall "vibe" is very cool. The prices seemed fair at first glance, and our server was actually quite pleasant throughout the night. However, the experience took a sharp turn for the worse with the food quality and management. We ordered the ribs, which were advertised as "fall-off-the-bone." Unfortunately, they were anything but. They were tough and lacked the quality you'd expect. There were four ribs on the plate; we tried two, realized the quality wasn't there, and immediately notified our waiter. We expected the kitchen or management to rectify the situation (either by replacing them or removing them from the bill) When the check arrived, we were shocked to see we were charged for the full plate. When we questioned it, the waiter informed us that the manager refused to take them off because we had "eaten them."Are you kidding? We tasted them to check the quality! It is ridiculous to be forced to pay for a dish that failed to meet its own menu description. Lovely restaurant inside the Loews Hotel. It gives hip early 2000s Miami, Las Vegas vibes but with a more relaxed and welcoming feel. Service was fine dining caliber and the food presentation was beautiful. My favorite dish was the lobster dumplings with the sweet and salty combo. Next would be the fried rice with snow crab, perfect combo. The crispy rice was disappointing, rice was a brick and portion small. The Korean ribs were good, but don't expect a traditional preparation or taste. I thought some of the adornments on the dishes looked nice but didn't help the dish, like the crunchy balls on the hamachi or chopped peanuts on the ribs. The food had a lot to be desired, though the Korean Ribs were tasty and the service while frequent, had a large numbers of errors. When I visited, it wasn't largely crowded, and my section of the restaurant was reasonably quiet, which I appreciated. Honestly, you're in Texas, unless you're stuck at the hotel, find somewhere else to go! Your taste buds (and wallet) will thank you! I got 2 of the Oaxaca Old Fashioned and would've kept going if I wasn't driving. They sat us with server Ryan who did a phenomenal job and guided us through our entire dinner experience. I'm not a big seafood / sushi guy but the quality and freshness of the ingredients hooked me. The menu is really lovely and the gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan items are clearly marked. But to start, I went with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and the Truffle Kanpachi Roll: spicy salmon, shiso, cucumber, puffed rice, and cilantro truffle dressing. Aaaaaaand it was fantastic! It's always risky to order anything with truffle oil, but I really do love it when it's super subtle. This sushi roll was sooo delicious. And they have gluten free soy sauce too! I just sat at the bar for maybe 45 minutes because I didn't have a ton of time, but the time I did spend at Soy Cowboy was really enjoyable. The service was good & the drinks/food were good as well. The only reason I couldn't give a perfect score is because they had items online that were no longer on the menu & hadn't been available in while (enough time to update the website) I forgot what the item was but I was looking forward to trying it. The inside is HUGE, I think the capacity is upwards of 400. I've never seen a restaurant so large unless it was in Vegas. We got a variety of plates to share between the two of us including the Bluefin Toro Tacos, Wagyu potstickers, Wagyu fried rice, and Otoro nigiri. The Bluefin Toro Tacos were bitesized (2 bites) and the Otoro nigiri was also on the smaller size. The food was tasty although I feel like it was expensive for what it was and the portions were small for the price. Everything was find but nothing was outstanding. It all came out at once except the rice which came after everything (desert did come last). Water was $8. We drank it all before meal was complete but not asked if we wanted more. Mixed drink was $26. Ribs, Orange Chicken, Dragon Roll (hard to get them to bring enough wasabi) were good. Wife did not like the Cod I thought it was Ok. Fried rice was not our favorite.
