Jeckyll's is a community space disguised as a drinking establishment. Over the years, it has grown into a home for runners, book clubbers, musicians, band nerds, triviastas, and hot sauce enthusiasts. They brew their own beer (I think?) and keep the taps rotating with an interesting mix. The back patio could use a little TLC, but inside, it's warm and welcoming. This review can tell the story of 2 years experience with Jeckyll's. Two great years. It is certainly one of those places that you pass on Park Row, and it catches your eye, despite being in a strip mall. I recall stepping in when it was much more a beer supply, floor covered in grain. Later, as it became more of a bar/restaurant, I recall Friday afternoons after a long day of work, sitting at the bar, coloring on a color sheet. One of the coolest things about this place is that they do regular coloring contests, and the prizes are great. I have won two of them - once I got a filled growler, the next time, a Martin House brewery shirt, glass, coaster and sticker set. Keep in mind, I have no artistic talent. So many Saturday afternoons, playing pool with friends and having a great meal. I love that they have darts, pool and board games. Live music most Fridays and Saturdays. I didn't attend, but they had a Harry Potter Trivia night that I heard filled them to capacity. I recall pulling up on day, stepping out of my car and my immediate boss and mentor calling me to explain that she had put in her resignation. I was on the phone with her for an bittersweet hour, sipping beers on the patio. Almost 8 months later, I coincidentally went there to celebrate my promotion into the position she vacated. The world is so symmetrical, you just have to notice it. Being in Pantego it has a small town feel, and is full of older regulars. They will converse with you about any number of things, none of which are topics related to "Making America Great Again." The bartenders have been there for some time, and have the perfect edgy coolness you'd expect from a place as interesting as this. It feels like home. Yesterday I went in to continue my celebration to the end of finals. I hadn't been in since October, but the staff remembered me right off. Greeted me with a "good to see you again." This isn't quite like the vibrant bars around campus. The crowd can be older, but not Showdown Saloon older. It's nice to have a place so engrained in my memory, paired with significant moments. I think that if you like craft beer and take the little extra drive down Park Row, you will find some significance as well. read more

What the what. When Ted told me that Dr. Jeckylls was now also a bar, I was like, "no way!" The space just didn't seem like it'd ever have a "come in and stay awhile" sort of atmosphere. Before, it was a simple yet pretty messy brewery store. Grains all over the place, tons of random product, nothing new or shiny. A very sort of hole-in-the-wall, rustic, get what you need with no bells and whistles, kind of store! Now, there's totally a bar in here with a ton of unique, craft, and local beer on tap! Still no bells and whistles, but cozy and welcoming. The store-aspect has remained the same and the bar itself is very plain, but it's ultra-comfortable and totally focused on the beer. The bartender, Duane, was super nice and knew a lot about beer, of course. He was great at offering suggestions AND he showed me how to properly throw a dart! Thanks the gods because I was using my entire arm and today my shoulder is definitely sore. Sad. A couple dart boards, a small wooden stage area in the corner for local musicians to play. One cider - Bishop (from Dallas) - on draft for anyone who can't drink/doesn't like beer. Woohoo! read more

What can I say? I love this place. They have 40 taps. Tap 39 always has root beer, if you aren't in a beer mood. The other taps have rotating beers. They also have a selection of bottles and cans. There is even a cafe that opens early for breakfast tacos. Monday nights they have free trivia. Tuesdays are open mic, also free. They don't serve liquor, fyi. If you want a tasty beer for a very fair price, this should be your destination. read more

Dr. Jeckylls is a great place to stop by and grab a Craft Beer. I have had some hit and misses here when it comes to the service, but I always love when Brittany is the one who is bartending. She is awesome! The place itself is pretty divey, but I love sitting at the bar top. The prices are incredibly reasonable and pints are 25% off 4-7 on Thursdays. I definitely don't think they put a massive upcharge on it compared to over tap rooms. My favorite thing about this place is that it is a mile from my house. My boyfriend and I will go on a walk and stop by for a beverage, chat with whoever is in the bar, and the head back home. Another great thing about this venue is that they are on Untapped so you can check and see what they have before you go. Wow, so last time I was here it looked like they were a homebrew shop on its last leg. Boxes everywhere, jumbled homebrew gear strewn about, an empty room... I literally bought some bottle caps thinking I might be their final customer. Then I hear they're still open. What? And that they're a bar now, too. What? And they're serving micro and filling growlers. WHAT?! Say it ain't so. I made it over and this weird little spot has a freshly constructed bar with a buncha taps of excellent beer. Like, really good beer. 4 nitro taps... WHAT. Could this really be the same place? It is, folks. In my one outing, I tried more and better beer than I've had in a couple months. In fact, a dude at Grapevine Beer & Wine suggested I buy Prairie's Bomb! beer a few days after I hit up Jeckylls. I said I liked it, that I'd had it the other day on tap. "On tap?" he questioned. Apparently that's unheard of... Prairie's Bomb! on tap. Yet there it flowed, at Jeckylls, in all of its absurdly high ABV glory. Great beer. Warm and inviting 'tenders. An indoor deck built simply to throw darts. It really may be that dream of a small place near home that just pours great beer. What a fun new bar in Pantego who would have thought. I was invited to Dr Jeckylls Beer Lab by Ted (see his review) he really likes the bar and said we need to come by. This is a great place to try new flavors and types of beers they have a very large variety. And the bar tender is very helpful on types of beer they serve and what kind of beer you may want. Plus he will give you a sample. The beer lab also has product to make your own beer not sure how that works need to talk with the employees. I will let them make the beers I will just drink them. The bar is small but there is still plenty of room for sitting or standing around. They have a dart board for passing some time, and T.V.'s. And I heard they are going to expand one day. Went here because Google had it listed as a brewery. Turns out they're just getting started. However, they had a great selection of craft beer. This place fits the dive bar definition and was a fun place to be. The bartender was fun to talk with and there was a great group of patrons around the bar. Next time in town Ill be back. read more

I'm a fan. The address is actually 2420 and the daughter-in-law of the owners Pat & Marot was helpful. I asked if she recommended champagne yeast to make a non-alcoholic ginger ale, and she responded with positivity and enthusiasm to go grab the yeast. She also mentioned they just moved to make way for the first beer/wine store to open in Pantego that they'll also own. Can't wait to go back after learning more online first. So glad I found this place tonight! It's refreshing to have a craft beer bar not only in Arlington but especially in Pantego! With a great beer list it's impossible to dislike! I was a little hesitant to enter the bar at first I won't lie because it seems almost unwelcoming but once you enter you feel right at home. The bartender immediately acknowledged us, grabbed a menu, and told us all of the specials. The list was extensive with all types of beers included, not just IPAs. I chose one of my favorite sour beers and my boyfriend chose a wit beer. We sat down at a table to listen to the live music. I normally hate live music in enclosed spaces(yes I am super old) but the sound was not so loud it interrupted conversation and the artist played great music. He took requests and really read the crowd's attitude. When I wanted a second beer, the bartender was extremely accommodating. He listened to the beers I tend to prefer, suggested beers, and let us try anything. That is key to a great craft beer bar. There was no entitlement or I am better than you attitude. They want you to enjoy and try while feeling like family. There is also a coffee shop in the bar which I would love to go back and try. The barista there said they are even talking about filling growlers! I am excited to become a regular here! read more

Dr. Jeckyll's is run by a bearded man named Pat. He's great. He's knowledgeable. He's friendly. He only gives you a couple weird looks when your recipe list has something outlandish or dumb. If you want help, he's more than willing. If you don't want help, he won't pester you. Grain, hop, and yeast selection is fantastic. It's not as big as a couple other places, but it's well-stored and still comprehensive enough to get you through most beers. Sometimes he can get you other stuff in the next order. Pretty good selection of sixers and singles will get you something to drink for the brew day. Equipment selection has everything I've ever needed. I can't think of anything he doesn't have that you would need for a five gallon batch. In addition to beer supplies, he also carries wine and coffee supplies. I don't make wine or roast coffee, so I can't speak to its quality, but if it's anything like the beer supplies, he's got you covered. read more

I first heard of Dr Jackll's as, "the place to go for home brew supplies in Arlington." Since I don't brew my own beer I was never in a hurry to check it out. Recently, they have added a bar with plenty craft taps. They also fill growlers! Naturally, I had to get over there and see how the selection was. My plan was to have a beer while checking out the choices. But when you find your favorite beer, that is not sold is stores, you have to leave with a growler. I left with Velvet Hammer! They don't appear to want to compete with the other local bars. It looks like they are positioning themselves to be a growler fill station where you can sit down and sample a few first. However, they do have bar seating, booth seating, and a dart board on the wall. So it could work just like a bar if you enjoy quality beer without the crowds and smokiness of regular bars. The bartender was very knowledgeable. I imagine he would be able to tell you how to make your favorite beer. After all, they do have the supplies. I may not be able to resist the urge if I keep going back to this place. I really hope Arlington can sustain a market for this place. It really is quite special for the area. read more

I've only been here a few times to check out the recently added draft beers on tap, I don't do any home brewing, so I can't comment on that part of the business. Nice enough place inside. Not to big, about 10-12 seats at bar, several tables along the walls. Didn't do a firm count on beer taps, but figure around 20 or so? Probably more, seems like the marker board menu out front had more than that listed. What I noticed, they seem to be going for the more "informed" craft beer drinker, instead of what I see as the "casual" craft beer drinker. Menu had quite a few I'd never heard of, and was missing some of the usual brands you'll see at a lot of draft beer bars. First place I've seen that had Panther Island brewery on tap. First place I've seen that had a sour beer on tap, from a brewery I'd never heard of. Nice place. Seems like a good place to try a few off the grid beers you might not find many other places. Like your neighborhood bar, just not liquor. Pretty relaxed, but maybe sometimes a little too much. My only nit picking is that if someone is filling growlers, they don't really worry about you standing there for however long it takes, even if they have multiple growlers to fill for a person who is still making up their mind. It would be no big deal to take less than a minute to get someone's draft order, pour a beer, then go back to the growler refills. read more

All beers reasonably priced by the ounce so you can have a little or a... little more. I have but one complaint. This summer on my numerous trips there, the A/C was out and it was pretty hot inside. But, the PubGuys are there every Monday for their Live Trivia so, as long as that remains true, I'll keep going back A/C or no. The beer selection is top-notch (40 taps) with the best prices I've ever seen. If you compare their prices to On Tap or World of Beer or Hooligan's, you'll find that they really cannot be beaten. Brit is an exceptional beer-tender and really knows her stuff. There's a blonde bartender there that's a little rough around the edges, but she's a very efficient 'tender, too. Both of them know the proper ways, glasses, and temperatures at which to serve their beer. The food is also very good but it is, I think, a separate company. In short, if you're looking for a fantastic beer selection, great trivia, and good food options (more than your standard pub fare, but not expensive or "haughty"), then give Dr. Jeckyll's a go. read more

In November 2014 they installed 40 craft beer taps and are currently the only growler filling station in the Pantego, Dalworthington Gardens, Arlington area. The space could be a lot more inviting, but I give it 4 stars because they have a great selection (dozens) of beers on tap and the staff is friendly. I really like their sampling process, too. They give you little sample cups and you get to pick different beers to go inside of each cup. Once you finish sampling, simply pick your favorite for a full-sized pour. Very cool ! If you love beer you need to add this to your list of places to visit ASAP. As people have stated they have 40 taps and from what the bartender told me they're about to add 30 more. Plus they have a small outdoor patio area. I stopped short of giving 5 stars b/c they don't have a kitchen (although you're allowed to bring in whatever food you want) and they didn't appear to have a cable package for ESPN so if you're a sports fan you'll have to hope the game you're looking for is on basic TV, at least for now. read more

Amazing place! Scott is the person who helped me. He walked me through all the stuff I needed to make my first clone beer from a recipe I took him and even found substitute ingredients for me if he didn't happen to have something in stock.
