Diners are a nostalgic way of grabbing a bite to eat from an exhaustive menu that covers everything from breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night eats. Silver Diner definitely checks the box with their massive menu featuring healthy, gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options to boot. I was impressed with the size of the menu and the different diets it catered toward, but when it came to the food itself it was alright. Nothing crazy for me to write home about (conveniently didn't need to since my parents were in town and dining with me), but it wasn't bad either. The service was friendly and polite, but a bit slow despite the restaurant not being busy. Stuff happens though, and I get it, so nothing horrible. I appreciate that they have made an effort to have menu items for different diets, and all the food was great. Most importantly, the waitress, Surita, was excellent. She made us feel as if we were family, and that she genuinely cared that we had a positive experience at the restaurant. I am giving a five all because of the server. The food was ok but our server went above and beyond. The location is not too challenging to get too. It has a nice vintage feel. Clean is another plus. The host greeted us but unfortunately due to language made it very challenging to understand. The menu has many options. Breakfast to dinner. I ordered the Ribeye Philly steak sandwich. Just was in the mood for something different, they offered roasted veggies instead of fries which was nice and a side of coleslaw. The sandwich was decent. The rest was tasty. Wife had the southwest turkey sandwich. Very fresh and she even liked the gluten free bread. He offered to knock the price of the up-charge for the bread if she didn't like it. Son had the house smoke burger and was in heaven. Kids meals were decent and filling. The price at the end of the meal was a lot for a family of five. We picked up a sandwich and a chocolate cake at this location. Sandwich and fries were good but when I took a bite out of the cake , I asked my girlfriend why is this cake so small ( I had ordered from Silver diner many times before ) this slice of cake was very small, once I found out she had paid 8.99 for it , I was flabbergasted. This slice was too small to be even 5 dollars! I called the store and I was passed on to the manger Corey, I explained this to her and she said if you want your money back , bring it and I told her, I had taken a small bite out of it but she either did not hear or ignored me and when I showed up , she made me feel so uncomfortable by telling me you ate it. I explained that I took a small bite before realizing the size was way too small for a cake costing 8.99 She stared at me with disdain that made my skin crawl and I felt, I needed to write this review to let others beware. I've been here many times before and always enjoyed it. Last night nothing was right. When we arrived, we were seated in one of the booths across from the kitchen. A woman was shouting very loudly in the kitchen at the staff there. Staff were hanging around the front waiting I guess for their food. The shouting went on for about 40 minutes, the entire duration of our visit. My friend ordered a turkey sandwich and found it dry, with the worst coleslaw ever as a side. I ordered the vegan curry, And it felt like it has been sitting on the counter under the light for a Long time. We finished our meal and asked our Server why it was so chaotic. He said that a lot of kitchen staff had quit and the kitchen was very chaotic during dinner time as a rule. I couldn't believe that the woman in the kitchen was allowed to carry on the way she did. Also if i were a worker who had to listen to that I would quit too. I haven't written the Restaurant off yet. However you guys really need to fix this. read more

This has been my go to at Tysons and Springfield locations for years. (Springfield)Tonight my family(AA)walked in and we were seated where apparently someone became sick and vomitted. Before learning of this I slide across the booth seat and felt wetness on my pants and shirt sleave. A nice lady across from us said "you shouldn't be sitting there. Someone just got sick." Thank you ma'am by the way. I know it's busy but there are too many illnesses going around. Why not sanitize thoroughly before resuming business as usual. We immediately left. Always that I have to take Dad to his doctor appointments. Silver Diner is always the place to go for breakfast. This place brings me back memories. Always good and always amazing. I got the Corn beef hash and eggs, and it was cook to perfection, Is my breakfast favorite. My Dad got the American Favorite and he loved the Pancakes. Karla was my waiter and she was espectacular. 12/14/22 On 12/11/22 after passing this restaurant for a number of years, today we find ourselves sitting at this restuarant having breakfast. The place was pretty busy when we entered the restaurant. I saw people decked out in Pittsburgh Steelers gear, Kansas City Chiefs, but I bet I was the only Baltimore Ravens fan in the building. Gabby our server is a pretty young thing. She took our orders and they came out fast. Unfortunately, when the turkey bacon I ordered came out soggy instead of crispy, Gabby fixed the problem by getting me real bacon. The bacon came out so right, Wilbur from Charlotte's Web would be proud. Like Kermit's French Fried Frog Legs, my oatmeal blueberry pancakes with pistachios was delicious. Gabby kept up the refilling of our drinks and checked back with us from time to time. The place was busy, but she did a phonaminal job. When the check came, we learned the power went out and the store manager (who was very cool to us) , had to scramble to get credit card information using carbon copy credit card receipts. The portable device that does this quickly was no where around. It was all done by hand and this was Gabby's first time having to do this. She looked nervous. This made me think of the days I had to use this machine or write it out by hand at my places of work. Many people were not really digging this idea and so many waited for the power to come back on. You never know who else might see the carbon copy credit card receipts. My wife did the carbon copy credit card receipts, but informed her bank about this credit card charge. Please be aware of their online ordering system. You may encounter several pending charges without receiving an order. My wife placed an order online, and we received two pending charges. I went to the restaurant and was informed that they recently outsourced their online ordering system and were experiencing difficulties with it. When I spoke to an employee, they contacted a manager via their cell phone. My card was charged with a phantom charge twice! Most likely, the pending charges will fall off, but I could be charged a third time if I wanted to place my order. Now, I have to monitor my account to ensure the phantom charges are removed. They need to implement a more robust online system. As for me, I will no longer order from them because I don't want to deal with phantom charges on my credit card or risk being charged a third time for one food order. Unfortunately, this experience will prevent me from supporting their business. read more

The food has been consistently good for me at this location but I have to take one star for service. Not for the service at the tables but for the host. When the line to got long, as it often does at this location, the host started asking people (starting from the end of the line) if they would like to sit at seats that opened up at the counter. We had been waiting and were second from the front. I asked why would you ask the people that got here last first and was told because the front would be seated first. Ok but the line moves slow, why should the people that got here last get the option to be seated and eat first? The people in the front can decide to wait for a table if they choose but should at least have the option as they have waited the longest.
