The Good: Fun vibe (the bar area looked like they were having a great time!) and good food. The garlic boil sauce was delicious and all of our snow crabs, shrimp, and fried fish platters were generously portioned, fresh, and yummy. The Bad: Service is okay but lacking in professionalism/friendliness. We made a reservation in advance and table was not fully put together when we sat down. Our food came out at random times and several items were forgotten. They would drop off crackers, bibs, and gloves at our table but there was never enough. They were out of blue crabs but failed to tell us till we ordered. Normally not a big deal, but something you should mention if you are advertising yourself as a crab house. As soon as I sat down, I was scared we would have a terrible night but the good food and fun atmosphere permeating from the bar made it fun. Hoping that this place tightens up a bit soon. The wait time on the food was honestly less than 10 minutes! I ordered a seafood basket and combo a seafood boil. RJ was the bartender on duty. He's a really chill guy, and easy to talk to. I ordered the basket which included fried oysters, shrimp, and tilapia. I've had fried oysters in the past from other restaurants, but the ones from this restaurant weren't really what I expected. Overwhelming ocean water taste and just pretty salty in general. The sauces do help though with the saltiness. Maybe that's how it's suppose to be, I don't know, but not a fan. Everything else was super good! The seafood boil was absolutely delicious. I just wish they could of made it spicier! The ambiance was pretty nice. No loud music but enough to hear what's playing. Then 1 lady came and then another lady came and brought us water. We ordered drinks. And appetizer. The whiskey sour was good. Could use more bourbon. We were ready to order. I had my mouth set on blue crabs. Our waitress said they didn't have any as it's seasonal. As seasonal was spelled wrong in the menu. And they offer all you can eat crabs on Tuesday. Now I'm under the impression that you don't have any more because of that. But dint tell me it's out of season. I created my broil. When we got to the sauce I asked about the Jason sauce. It's a mixture of oil she said. So I said give me garlic and lemon butter. I should have e said something else. When the broil arrived it was a bag of oil with all this pieces of garlic in it. No flavor. No taste. I had to add old bay to it. It did t help much. The Dungeness crab legs were okay. It tasted very bland. More flavor was needed. It was missing a lot. All you can eat crabs for $35 and $1 oysters! What more can you ask for. I am so glad that there is a legitimate crab house located in the beltway that offers top tier crabs that are very meaty. YES!!!! The food is too good and the prices are too fair for this place not to be a hit. When I saw the green sauce with the Red Snapper I knew it was going to be RIGHT! The music selection playing was on point and the restaurant was meticulously clean. They have very good happy hour specials and Karaoke Friday and Saturday nights. The best crabs in Northern Virginia has arrived folks. They are meaty, slightly sweet, not too salty and served with melted butter. The all you can eat crab deal is astounding. Went back for the all you can eat (AYCE) blue crabs - smallest crabs I have ever seen, no wonder they were offering AYCE - it took me 2 1/2 doz just to feel full. Like ordering a whole chicken and getting a quail. And I ordered ice tea and they wanted to charge $3+ per glass for brewed tea served in a plastic washable cup. I am from Louisiana and understand seafood boils. It is very clear they didn't purge their crawfish prior to cooking - the crawfish were gross. I did ask the manager and he said he did not know if they purged or not. He did take off half the price off the check. Additionally, the sauces had a sweet taste to it which was very odd. I wish I read more of the reviews before we went in. We were on our way to the crafty crab and decided to try this place instead for comparison. The parking lot was absolutely empty, and we thought they were closed. That should've been our first sign. There were only two other people in there eating when we arrived and we ended up sitting not far from them. My friend and I both ordered different steam bags. The special garlic butter??? Probably one of the nastiest tasting things I've ever tasted. And of course since everything was cooked in it, everything tasted like it. It is sweet!! Garlic shouldn't be sweet. Very bizarre flavor combination. Everything was overcooked. The shrimp was like rubber, so was the sausage, and the hard boiled eggs could've been used as bouncy balls for children. Neither one of us even ate half of our meals. At some point, someone else came to our table and asked us how we liked it. We were honest and said we didn't care for the sauce. She offered to bring us something else to try. Whatever else she brought, also with some sort of special sauce, tasted like dish water and rosemary. Before we got our food, I was inquiring about happy hour. The server said "yes we have one." I had to pull answers out of him. They should be promoting something like that not having to check for answers. The one positive thing that I can say is that everyone that worked there was very friendly and very nice. This place just opened about three weeks ago and I went here for my birthday dinner. Not only were the prices incredibly good, The portions were insane as well. The seafood tasted insanely fresh and although we had a party of 10 people, the wait was not long at all. I wish I remembered my waitresses name because she did amazing. We had everything right and on time and she even gave me a birthday shot and a complementary side dish. I would definitely recommend this place. So I would probably give this a 4 for the area. My partner would rate it lower so I gave a 3 to be in between. We got 3 lbs of crab legs, hush puppies, sausage, corn, and potatoes. My crab was nicely cooked. My partner got the same sauce etc and his crab was stuck to the shell every set of legs. When the server asked multiple times how the food was I mentioned my husbands crab was really stuck to the shell ie overcooked. I'm not sure he understood he sort of just giggled awkwardly and said sorry. The corn was strange. Maybe over boiled? We were split on the hush puppies. It was a nice large spacious place. No wait for seating. I realllly want to like them a lot and be able to come back. It's a very convenient location. I could even see the potential for entertainment like trivia live music etc to bring people in. The bar had TVs if people are into sports. Very very small critique the paper towels on the table are hard to rip while your gloves are on. Even a bar for paper towel to spin on might help and keep the top hygenic.
