I've been coming to this Silver Diner location for the last 12+ years. Silver Diner is one of my most favorite breakfast spots. I love The French Toast, The Pancakes, The Omelets, and The Eggs Benedict. Something else that I really enjoy from Silver Diner are the potatoes. The service could not be better. I thoroughly enjoyed what we ended up with for lunch. We decided to go with three entrees and had the waitperson place them in the middle of the table for a family style experience. We went their their BBQ Chicken Drummettes & Succotash (this was my favorite), Black Angus Meatloaf (also very good but the wine on the gravy was a bit strong) and the Summertime Cod (loved the taste of their lemon garlic sauce). I was told that they have the best milkshakes so my friend ordered their Chunky Monkey Banana (the banana made this drink healthy, yeah...right!!) and it was delicious! Service was a bit slow but nothing earth shattering. We had to ask for our water refills. Then again, they were busy so we understood. I can see why this place is popular. I wish I could have liked this place more. I'm from New Jersey, which is flooded with diners. This place isn't a diner, it's more like a restaurant, with diner food and aesthetic. It's a bit less greasy than a diner, but the food doesn't feel home-cooked. Everything is a bit too neat. Which is fine, but the taste wasn't there either. Insanity. A long time has passed and we went back to Silver Dinner in Fairfax. My wife likes the turkey thanksgiving meal - a $22 meal, which should be a $12 meal value, and over the past decade, the stuffing and cranberry sauce have been deleted from the plate. The slices of turkey, gravy, vegetable, and a biscuit are squished together in a somewhat unattractive mound. I find that generally the other selections read well on the menu, but in my opinion, highly overpriced, smaller, and not a good value. Hard to find much under $20 on the menu, and none I saw had the elegance of a $20 meal. My cheeseburger and fries, the only complete meal overvalued at almost $16, was unimpressively small, still a bit dry, with an unimpressive cup of McD-like shoe string thin fries. Freddies gives a better burger at half the price. The burger is an improvement over the one I had a year earlier which was also dry and tastless. The outdoor flooring is nice, cool in the evening, but the imitation lawn was scattered with debris from previous guests. The electronic payment device was programmed with tip choices above what one commonly sees. The redeeming factor was the waiter was eager to do well, attentive, and courteous. I am disappointed at the continued decline in the value of these meals. read more

DISGUSTING, DESPICABLE EXPERIENCE!!!!! My boyfriend was in town visiting me last night and we were both hungry but it was 10:00p on a Tuesday, so not many places were open. I suggested we come here because Silver Diner has never let me down.. UNTIL NOW. First when we get there, there are probably like 6 people total in the restaurant but after they seat us we waited a whole 15 min before we got someone to take drink orders. Again, there were like no people at the restaurant. I decided to give them benefit of the doubt but the server didn't act very apologetic regarding our lengthy wait. Then... my boyfriend starts to eat his side salad and discovers a DEAD FLY/LARVAE in the food. Not kidding. We told our server and it took the manager like 10 min to come over after he told her. This is for an above and beyond experience: I ordered from this location through DoorDash, and the Dasher failed to bring the drink I ordered (so frustrating - it's right on the receipt attached to the bag!). I called and the manager OFFERED to send someone to deliver it to me. I was way too upset about not getting my cold brew, but of course this makes it all better (along with a refund from DoorDash). The eggs Benedict were modified exactly as I ordered, they were delicious, the fruit side had melon in the minority, and THIS is what following instructions and providing good customer service looks like. read more

Sort of needing to get in and out in a reasonable time, on a Sunday nonetheless, we took a gamble. It paid off. There wasn't even a line when we arrived and were promptly seated. The food had to come out in some sort of record time. We were pleased about that, now we could chow down and get out. Our server was pleasant and attentive, which always adds to the experience. A parent's brunch dream come true. I've never been a big fan of brunch. It's overhyped, and I'm definitely not trying to stand in line for 1.5 hours with a baby (or without a baby! Seriously, I get that you have extra time on the weekend, but I'm not trying to waste it like that!) Cue in Silver Diner. They open super early, so when our tot is up at 6:30, we can just roll in! Do any research on Silver Diner, and you'll hear all about Chef Ype and his awesome "flexitarian" ideas. He really brings in some unique seasonal dishes that incorporate the latest trends, like adding burrata to avocado toast. I've liked most of what I tried. My only complaint about the coconut quinoa pancakes was that they are "too healthy," and I was hungry later, but the grilled bananas were money. The fried chicken and waffles is amazing, especially the cherry pepper jelly! Veggie huevos rancheros are also great! The service is fast and attentive, and there's never a long wait. Everyone is always very nice and accommodating to our baby. We love it here! read more

Silver Diner has been a favorite of mine growing up in the Northern Virginia area. They stay open late on weekdays and 2 am on weekends so this was a great late night spot. It is a classic 50's style diner with a jukebox you can put quarters into and listen to oldies. They have great milkshakes and burgers as well. Their health milk shake with honey and wheat germ has always been a classic. They've added a few new items such as a hibiscus mango soy milkshake and guava mint ginger milkshake. Silver Diner seems to have had a remake since I was last there (some time ago). It seems to have become a gourmet diner with an executive chef and a "flexitarian" menu. As a result, chicken and waffles are now chicken with sausage gravy and a pepper honey pecan waffle. I can't complain though - it was pretty good! If you're looking for classic, inexpensive diner food, this isn't it, but it may still be worth a visit if you're looking for something a bit more upscale. read more

this place serves the best food ever. me and my friend sophia came into here for the first time and we were greeted with an amazing host who was so sweet. her name wad kaylee and she was so friendly and kind and made me feel welcomed. we ordered food from uncle vinnie who was the sweetest man and really cared about our service and brought our food in less then 5-10 minutes. we ordered the fried triple pickled chicken and i recommend this to EVERYONE. we DEVOURED this sandhwich in seconds as well as the fries and coldslaw. we then ordered the grasshopper milkshake which just HIT the spot. not to mention how clean and beautiful this place was. it really made me feel like i was in the 50's sharing a milkshake with my best friend. i recommend this place to everyone. i will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu!! read more

Service was excellent. Started off with a chocolate shake as an appetizer. I can say this is one of the best chocolate shakes i have had. Also had Lemony Hummus with cauliflower naan. Surprisingly excellent. For the main course I had the triple Pickle chicken sandwich with coleslaw and roasted vegetables. I have enjoyed this chicken sandwich more than any other restaurant. I came here on August the 6th in the evening as I celebrated my birthday alone. It's a long story and I don't even want to get into. The point being is that I came here at nearly 9:30 to 10:00 p.m. and my server took care of me A to the Z. In the process I ordered a three-course meal and really didn't care how much it was obviously since it was my birthday but I was taking care of so well I left a very well deserved tip because this place was phenomenal. The food was on point and the service was equal to the food's quality. I want to say thank you so much to the staff and to the management for what they do and making this place a place that I will certainly go to again and again as you have a loyal customer in me now unlike the one in Alexandria which I had the opposite treatment. read more
