Had coffee, iced tea and coke zero. We also had coconut cream pie for dessert. The atmosphere was very comfortable and inviting. Great prices for whst we ordered. Very extensive menu. You could tell this is where the locals gather; even a few police officers came in for a pickup order while we were there. The main area is standard tables and booths, not huge, but it can handle a decent crowd. Keep an eye out for the cool back dining room--it has wood paneling, antlers, and a great country vibe. Very overrated. The decor is fine. It's dated but it's fine. Service was decent. Nothing to gush over but they get the job done. The food, though was not good. I don't remember the last time I had American cheese in an omelette. I guess you could call it an omelette, even though it didn't really look like an omelette. It was overcooked as well - like eating rubber. And not seasoned. Nothing was seasoned. The potatoes were terrible. Greasy, burned, and undercooked. Kind of impressive that the cook could make all those mistakes in one dish. And again, not a hint of flavoring beyond the potato (and burnt bits). The biscuits were over mixed and tough. And under seasoned. The gravy was ok. Not much sausage in it and on the thin side but flavor was ok and masked the other issues with the food a little. My wife got oatmeal. That was pretty good. It was exactly the same shape, consistency and taste that you'd expect to come from a big box item thrown into the microwave for 5 minutes then slapped on a plate. For the price, I expected more. They're charging the same price for this as the REAL fish places like Captain D's, Long John Silvers, Louisiana Cafe, Sam's Southern Eatery, Skrimp Shack, and Long Time No Sea, are charging for their fish meals, with no where near the same quality! I wish I had a camera running for the moment that I opened the box and was greeted with pure disappointment - my face must have absolutely dropped from pure joy to absolute dejection. The fish on the bottom was smashed in half and split open and mushed everywhere, and the fish on top looked like a mass-produced brick - and something you'd eat if you were on a $3 food budget for the week. ...And you only get TWO pieces..?? Really?! ..They're charging you $20 for this meal, keep in mind. The fries were thin cut, floppy and cold. The onion rings were okay - some of the onions inside were super thin and fried to a crisp, while other onion rings were thick and as floppy as a wet piece of spaghetti - pretty bad texture. I've been to this place quite a few times before for breakfast, and usually they're pretty good.. But this experience was dismal. Their website says "Each dish is a testament to our commitment to health and flavor, prepared daily the moment you order it." ....Yeaaaah.. RIGHT... I highly doubt it. Not in MY experience, clearly! My husband and I have been coming here for years! Hands down my husband's Absolute favorite sandwich in the world is their open faced hot roast beef sandwich with gravy and fries. First the roast beef is so lean and tender and sliced super thin so it almost melts in your mouth. Then you have that Delicious slow cooked homemade (as is Everything) overnight gravy. OMG!!!! If you've never been, GO!! I promise you won't be disappointed!! This last time we had the pleasure of talking with the owner. Sadly he refused to share his recipe. Just another reason to keep going! We had driven past the Yorkshire Restaurant and read the sign saying "Best Breakfast in Town" about a thousand times before finally going in to try it out and we were very glad we did. This place has the type of charm that only comes from being around for a long time, establishing itself as a staple in the community and then leaving well enough alone. The corporate overlords at Cracker Barrel wish they had an ounce of the charm of this place. Our lovely waitress Eileen, who has worked there since 1982 gave us the history. It was started by an Arabic couple in 1958 and then bought by the current owners' family in the 70's and I love that through the years they have essentially not changed a thing. It's like going back in time and it just feels good. On top of the good vibes the food is great and the price is reasonable (the prices on here are not accurate). I don't mess around, I had the Hungry Man's breakfast with a side of 2 hot cakes and I have to agree, it is indeed the Best Breakfast in Town and the coffee is good too. The biscuits, the sausage gravy, the chipped beef and the sausage are all homemade which makes all the difference in the world. Since they do breakfast this good, we're looking forward to coming back soon to try out the dinners. I highly recommend you give them a shot and don't drive past it as many times as we did before you head in for a nice home-cooked meal served up by good people in a building full of nostalgia. It's a beautiful thing. * And another thing: This is not a "take-out" restaurant, these meals are meant to be enjoyed hot out of the kitchen at the restaurant- so be a normal damn person, put your stupid phone down, grab a booth or table, chill out and enjoy. Food is seasoned, portions are ample and the service is speedy. They even have real hot sauce. Waitress handed me a bottle of Texas Pete. Hallelujah. They've got the all the hits from decades ago like Creamed Chip Beef (who's had that since the 6th grade?). The whole joint is actually a throwback from decor to menu. Very nostalgic without necessarily trying to be. A real mom and pop. Parking lot is small though. Nobody is wearing a mask either - customers or employees - so be mindful. I love the "what can I get you hon?" You don't get this kind of experience anymore, unless you're usually past Moorefield, West Virginia. Northern Virginia has grown up. Change is inevitable, but sometimes it's good to stay where you are. I'm a man of simple tastes, and the French toast with bacon this morning was delicious. If it was more than five minutes to my seat I'd be surprised. The top hat is the best lunch or dinner sandwich. Also the spaghetti with meatballs is family delicious. Seating is fairly comfortable, and the ambiance is what ultimately wins here. You will absolutely fall in love with this place, and I've never heard a negative thing about this restaurant. If you've ever driven up 28, this is a can't miss spot! The second you open the double doors, you completely leave Manassas city behind and walk into southern hospitality and feel. Great prices, large portions, phenomenal wholesome hearty taste. I opted for the "best hotcakes in town" short stack. The short stack comes with two pancakes and I added chocolate chips. You have the option to pick a side of meat to include. You cannot do half bacon half sausage you can only pick one- I tried. I also ordered a side of home fries and a side of sausage links. The home fries were literally HOME made deliciousness. They also have sausage patties. My boyfriend is a huge biscuit and gravy fan. He was completely and totally in awe at his hungry man breakfast platter. Gravy is homemade and with the option of chopped beef or sausage. He mentioned the biscuit was awesome- and while he only expected one biscuit in half, it was two full biscuits! He had leftovers! Coffee was delicious and served per cup. I was at the Yorkshire Restaurant for a monthly gathering of club members where we meet for breakfast. In the past, breakfast at the Yorkshire has been what you'd expect for neighborhood diner. That's changed. My meal of eggs, sausage, home fries and biscuits was poorly made. For example, the sausage patties were so badly overcooked that even cutting them into bite-sized pieces was nearly impossible. The sausage gravy that was ladled over the biscuits was nearly devoid of sausage crumbles and thus nearly devoid of flavor. The other elements of breakfast were simply ordinary but not memorable. The coffee was decent. Overall, the breakfast wasn't worth the $20.00 I spent for the meal plus tip. read more
