We were desperate to eat at 10p and nothing was open so we decided to try a good ole jersey diner for the win! We were happy with our meal and we liked the fresh ingredients. The only item I didn't like was the drink , we ordered some type is Refresher lemonade that tasted weird . Too artificially sugary. Yuck. Clean diner with good food. We came on a Friday for lunch and service was quick. The prices are a bit high for a diner, but that's because they use good quality meats from local farms, which I appreciate. I think for $17 though, I would prefer more meat on the cheesesteak but that's just me. Overall, a good experience. read more

My table was a little dirty and the bathroom was pretty bad and made be gag a little when I walked in. On to the food... Loved the guava ginger ale! This is a fun diner that takes you back in the day with its classic diner atmosphere. Each table has a jukebox that you can request songs to be played over the speakers (with a small additional cost, of course). The food here was also pretty good. Then I saw ants crawling on the table next to us and when I checked my bench there were ants all over. I went to the front to ask for a new table and the host said I could sit in the table adjacent. We always love going to Silver Diner! Food is always good and I love how they have many vegan options! We ordered a pickled fried chicken sandwich, a bison burger and the roasted tomato dish. The tomato dish was incredible. The chicken sandwich was huge! The reason for the giving four, not five, stars was the service. Our waiter took 15 minutes to ask if we wanted drinks. And once we got our food we did not see him again until he brought the check... so we could not get refills on our drinks or more napkins. I've been coming to Silver Diner since it first opened many moons ago. It was great - a jukebox at every table! People that played the same song over and over throughout the whole restaurant! Paper cars from the 1950s for the kids! The staff and managers at Silver Diner have always been great. My parents order in and come here a lot more then I do and they know the manager and he knows them . In terms of food, you will never be blown away by what you get here. But you will get consistently good food at a decent price, whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Any egg dish or French toast will be more then enough to satisfy a Saturday or Sunday morning meal (or at the end of the day if you're into that). Their pivot to be more farm to table has been nice and they're seasonally updated menu keeps things fresh and gives a nice kick of variety. Overall, Silver Diner is a good place with good food and nice big booths! read more

"Not your ordinary diner" for sure. They're not kidding! The Silver Diner was a very welcomed surprise on a sunny Saturday morning. We arrived around 9:00 AM and were seated without a wait. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and the cheerful smiles of the waitstaff. No cranky servers here! All fresh-faced folks with a passion for service and quality food. My better half and I love splitting our meals (more to sample!) so we ordered the avocado toast with salmon, a cheese omelet, and an order of grits. We told our server that we planned to just split everything with each other. When she brought the dishes to our table, we were surprised to see that it was all already split up for us! This is an example of going the extra mile for something that was not necessary, but was super appreciated. And it ensured that he didn't eat more than his fair share of the grits...because you KNOW he would! Not only was the service on-point, but our meals were equally as stellar. This may have been the best avocado toast I've ever had, and I regularly pat myself on the back for making a killer version of my own at home. Ample parking and it's walkable to several retail stores. You can burn off your calories afterward by browsing/shopping. So go ahead and order the pancakes already! Had lunch here recently with a party of five. Staff was pleasant and helpful. We were seated right away and our server was quick to arrive with menus and water. Everyone enjoyed their food which came out pretty quickly. Orders were, Summer Watermelon and Shrimp Salad which was delicious. The Diner needs some repairs, cleared tables & someone to treat for ants. AVOID THIS PLACE. I was really enjoying my meatless tacos when I noticed a few ants near the jukebox. After a bit came to realize it wasn't just coincidence but there must have been a trail. There was a trail. Gag! We told the waitress as an FYI & the manager came over (without asking) to say it was from the mulching outside. Nope, not believing that. We didn't ask but no discount for our check with our 'critter lunch' special. He offered to move us but we were OUT. Check, please. So as I sat for the check I realized dishes on empty tables left by customers were sitting for the entire time we were there. Gross. We could see an area where staff was just looking at their phones. That's pretty your reason for ants. Next issue was the fricken jukebox wouldn't stop playing the same Elvis song over & over. There must been a major problem in the booth in front of us because two different patrons got up & walked out. It could have been Endless Elvis... who knows!?! At first I thought it was a person just playing the same song but heard someone complain. The waitress could only turn it down but it was also making a non-stop clicking noise too. It started to feel like a Twlight Zone episode in there. Call it Endless Elvis & The Ants: a true horror. My husband really was disappointed with his food also. Service was excellent; we came on a "teacher night" and the entire place was swarming, but we were seated quickly and food was delivered amazingly quickly. Overall, this might have been a meal meeting expectations for 1/2 the price, but the stellar reviews/menus/marketing (including a "bakery on premises" neon sign) lead you to believe you'll get somewhat freshly prepared food rather than processed. I didn't realize this was a chain (new to the area), so maybe that would have steered me away. Live and learn! Ordered turkey dinner, short rib burger, and a hibiscus lemonade. First thing we saw while sitting at the counter was a server cutting the corner off a plastic bag, pouring the contents into a bin, then serving it piping hot from the bin--so, their soups arrive and are heated in plastic bags. I didn't know anything about this place and had thought it was a slightly upscale diner, so this made me realize much of the food was probably processed and created elsewhere. The turkey dinner was unremarkable, mixed veggies were blanched and unseasoned, mashed potatoes likely from flakes (gummy texture--could have been overbeaten but my guess is a mix). The burger wasn't bad (burger meat had a good taste and finish); fries were... pretty depressing, no fresh taste about them; this was $19. The cup of chicken soup wasn't homemade but pretty good for the canned-type variety. The "house-made hibiscus lemonade" was $7, which I didn't notice until after ordering, oops. Surely it was a deliciously flavored syrup and fresh lemonade for that amount? The hibiscus was only a color, and the drink had a distinct artificial sweetener taste. I asked about that but was told there wasn't anything artificial, so I think this was a soda-fountain lemonade (like Minute Maid) with some syrup--definitely a processed taste you wouldn't associate with "house made." Will look elsewhere for home-cooking style food in the area. read more

Poor service great food The food is very good but the service is unacceptable. Starting with one of the hostess, she looks very tired and bored, didn't even greet us when we came in. She was behind the counter standing at the ceiling and looked very bored. On another occasion we were seated but we had to wait 15 minutes for the waiter to come and then another 45 minutes for the food to come while other tables around us who came after us got there food. We sat down and met with Erika our waitress, she helped us with the decision of what to eat and how they make it, and Avocado Toast is delicious and crisp, I also had the Vegan breakfast taco meal that was made with such love and care. If you want vegan eggs and vegan meat with pickled onions and yellow peppers and the side salad. Oh and the Coffee take you away from the everydayness of your life it taste so smooth and if you like cream and sweetener they got you! My Mother in-law had the normal batch of breakfast taco but she had it with pork sausage and real eggs. My Husband ordered a burger with guac and onions he was full I took his pickles and red onions on the side, lol! Excellent restaurant all around - from the huge & varied menu, yummy food, to the old time feel decor. Five of us went late night after my friend's wrestling match. We split avocado toast (excellent!!) and each had different entrees/desserts. Ill speak on mine mainly - crispy Brussel Sprouts. Very tastily seasoned & cooked perfectly. They were on a bed of healthy grains - sorry I forget but very good! Super tasty sauce too! Vinnie had a Miso burger, that he liked a lot (it looked like my kind of "naughty" REAL beef rare burger in color). Melinda had another type of burger (I recall her saying it was a bit too spicy). Her husband had pancakes, eggs, and potatoes. He was happy with the pancakes and eggs. Did not like the potatoes AT ALL (the cut and too greasy). I haven't been to the Silver Diner since I was a kid. It was my favorite place for breakfast since I loved the paper cars that they provided. Some of my fondest memories with my grandpa was sitting in these booths coloring on the menus and eating breakfast! I'm happy I can dine here again as a vegan adult. They are definitely keeping up with the times by including vegan & plant-based options on their menu! I ordered the Just Eggs Benedict for delivery one morning. It was a great hangover cure to say the least. It was amazing and I especially loved the roasted tomato underneath the vegan eggs and bacon. It was a large portion with lots of sauce.
