I've been coming here for years, as long as I've been living in Cherry Hill. The Silver Diner is cute and kitchy, and gives the feel of a home-cooked meal when you're eating out. Over the years they have added more healthy options to the menu, and advertise that they get their food locally. Huge star additions for these things! The staff is always super friendly. For some weird coincidence, I happen to get the same waiter (Matthew) almost every time I go, whether I'm with my husband or friends, and he is always right on the ball, super friendly and making a joke or two when appropriate. I've never had a bad meal here, either breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also, the desserts are great! (Not that these fall into some of their healthier options that they promote)! We never encounter a wait to be seated, and the tables are always spotless. It's fun to listen to Elvis or some other oldies on the juke box at your table. The service was good but the menu has certainly changed over the years. We had to scour the menu to find "dinner food". The tuna melt was good but the grilled cheese (8.95!) was more like dry toast with barely-melted cheese. There wasn't much else on the menu that appealed to us. read more

We love this place. I always thought it was a typical diner so we never tried it until a vegetarian friend said she had one of the best meals there and we have to try it! Being vegan makes it difficult to find anything but a salad and oatmeal at most diners but this place is soooo not typical. The food is flavorful and delicious. We've had the beyond burger, avocado toast, farro meal with brussel sprouts and they even have soy ice cream so my kids were able to have a milkshake! I visited with a co-worker since we were in the area. Although it was lunch hour, we both decided to have breakfast. I noticed there was a nice variety of healthy options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu didn't consist of your basic diner grub but much more creative dishes. I ordered the blueberry pancakes with scrambled eggs, a side of maple chicken sausage, and coffee. My flapjacks consisted of two very large pancakes ( almost the size of a large dish) filled with large blueberries. The maple chicken sausage was very disappointing. It consisted of two very small patties which resembled the size of a silver dollar. They had the consistency of a hockey puck because they must have been cooked hours ago and microwaved. They had absolutely no taste. As a coffee snob, I would say the coffee was very good. The service was very good and friendly. The prices were very reasonable considering the creativity and area. I really liked the nostalgic/retro look of the diner. This isn't your typical New Jersey diner and at least a couple steps above all the basic diners in New Jersey. read more

For awhile, Silver Diner was our backup restaurant for when we ventured out to the Cherry Hill Mall area and all of the other restaurants were too packed. (Let's be honest: despite some of the yummy frozen drinks, Bahama Breeze is NOT worth an hour and a half wait.) But sometime within the past few months, SD has actually become an on-purpose eating destination for when we're in the area. I love all of the local, fresh, interesting options that are on the menu these days. I'm not a vegetarian, but always find myself drawn to their veggie-based options. At breakfast time, I tend toward their vegetable egg scrambles or omelettes with fresh fruit on the side. During our last lunch time visit, I ordered a veggie burger (which was soy-free, therefore accommodating my soy allergy- yesss!) version of the Pesto Burger, which included pine nut pesto, roasted red peppers and goat cheese. It came with a side of sweet potato fries. YUM! I like that they make a note of their healthier options throughout the menu by putting little hearts next to them, but that they also list them again on their own separate page later in the menu. This is good for someone like me who usually means to order well, but then gets distracted by (and almost always succumbs to) the junk food. TIP: Order the Chunky Monkey milkshake to go, and you will have the best ride home ever. read more

Just terrific. A true throwback to the good ol' days. Not just 'cause each table comes with its own jukebox full of some of the greatest, feel-good music ever, but because this is a diner in its truest, everybody's-happy-to-be-there form. Plus they're using real ingredients which come together to make delicious, freshly prepared food. It seems novel doesn't it? A 'round-the-way diner serving farm-to-table food at Main Street prices. But it ain't. That's the way things are s'posed to be y'all. The Country Scrambler will set you on your way to a very good day. I mean it was a just plain perfect expedition in deliciousness with sausage, bell peppers, eggs, home fries, sausage gravy, cheese (and prolly something else that I'm missing because I don't really want to think about it right now because it just makes me feel hungry enough to drive all the way back), etc. And FRESH strawberries ('tis the season!). And 2 silver dollar pancakes...talk about hittin' the spot. I mean, honestly, the pancakes were lukewarm when they arrived, but that's why I'm raving about what good ingredients do for you--when have you ever had a damn lukewarm pancake that was somehow still buttery and not overly chewy and delicious? Exuberant, friendly staff with just the right amount of quirk. Prompt service. Delicious, well-portioned grub. It's like the cherry on top of Cherry Hill. Go there. Find a new thrill. read more

When I lived in Jersey I would come here all the time but boy has this place changed. I was a little nervous about what I would eat because I no longer eat meat but the menu had so many vegan options that I didn't know what to pick. Not only do they now have vegan options but they also have gluten free and vegetarian options now. My favorite thing is that they have everything labeled on the menu so you know which is vegan/vegetarian and or gluten free. It's nice to see restaurants that cater to all lifestyles now. The quinoa coconut pancakes were amazing and the fact that you get agave instead of syrup was music to my hears. I love this place! I have yet to have a bad experience here. If you enjoy a healthier diner that supports its local farms then this is the place to go. My girlfriend and I went there a few months ago and she ordered a steak which she loved and i (like i always do at Diners) ordered breakfast food. Went last Friday at lunch time. Was seated immediately. Server came over and took our drink orders- came back with the waters and the milkshake came from someone else. We waited over 15 minutes for her to come back and take our order and the only reason it didn't take longer was because the server who had the table next to us actually grabbed her and brought her to our table and said "here, this one" We order a kids meal, appetizer, breakfast and a veggie sandwich. The appetizer and kids meal came out at a good pace. My son finished his meal completely and we had to slow down on the appetizer so not to spoil our appetites. We waited almost 40 minutes until I eventually grabbed the other server to ask for a manager. About 3 minutes afterward our food comes out but we were ready to go. My friend asked for her breakfast to go and I asked for my sandwich to be removed from the bill (no one wants a soggy sandwich). She comes back with my friends food boxed up and my sandwich because it would have otherwise gotten thrown out. They also took an additional 10% off the bill. This place has a great outdoor seating area and an amazing menu with both traditional diner food and creative and vegan options. Our server was excellent and the food looked amazing. I didn't love my meal (I didn't like the seasoning of the tofu) but I chalk it up to risky ordering and not the quality of the food. I was reluctant to go into this diner as I knew nothing about it and the parking lot was kind of empty (at the time). Well...OMG! What a hidden gem! The old school diner feel was adorable, the place was immaculately clean, including the bathrooms! The food was farm-to table, organic, home made and delicious! We had the avocado - toast and eggs, one person had theirs with fresh lox on top. The avocado was no doubt made to order with bean sprouts on top of crispy toast. It was lemony and yummy! Don't get any ideas here - this isn't your typical Jersey diner. Yes, it's got a shiny exterior, is open 24 hours, and serves breakfast at any time of day - but the Silver Diner omits the greasy, fatty food and sarcastic service that we've come to associate diners with. Their clean interior, fresh foods, and low-calorie options are sure to please both diner lovers and haters alike. A personal favorite is the "Under 600" menu, which offers perfectly-sized meals under 600 calories. Last visit I ordered the flounder tacos - you get two, with crispy flounder and an assortment of toppings, including a spicy ranch sauce. It also comes with an amazing side salad of fresh spinach topped with nuts, strawberries, and mangoes. Though I'm not a milkshake fan, their assortment is extensive, and their other desserts, especially the sundaes, are devine. Silver Diner is also very generous in support of the community - lots of weeknights they host school fundraisers, which pack the place for several hours straight. The food at Silver Diner is pretty good (your standard diner menu, a little smaller than most, but lots of "fresh" farm to table ingredients... or so they claim), but the last time I stopped by the service was terrible. It took our waitress about 10 minutes to come over and then another 5 minutes to even get us water. Location wise, it's in the parking lot of the Target which is across from the Cherry Hill mall, so it can to be very busy on the weekends. Luckily the building is pretty large and I've never had to wait for too long. read more

I went to this restaurant on Labor Day, driving home from Philadelphia. When we got there, there was a five minute wait, which wasn't bad. We sat down. The menu is pretty big. It has a lot of choices. They claim to get produce from local farms, which is cool. We ordered our food. I wasn't crazy about mine. I had huevos rancheros. It was missing something, and just not that good. My friends weren't crazy about their food either. The service was mediocre. There were times we were looking around for our server. Both the corned beef hash w/eggs and California omelette ended up being solid choices. With the shiny façade and jukeboxes in every booth this diner felt like a throwback to the 50s. The only thing missing was classic comfort food at budget friendly prices. The menu was what I call "New American" with focus on farm to table and non gmo offerings as well as gluten free and vegan options; things you pay a premium for. Yes, there were some classics, too. We stuck with basic bacon and eggs (they don't butter the toast, they bring butter on the side, which didn't melt). The food was okay, not great, not terrible. First the table we had was so dirty. Had crumbs and salt/sugar from previous clients. Also had drink stains on table as well. The menus felt greasy too. The whole place seemed dirty to me, but some how the bathrooms where clean. The waitress comes over asked if she could take our order, no hi, no nothing. We just ordered drinks and asked for more time please. She comes back in about a minute later. No drinks or anything. So we each order. We each ordered a soup and salad with our meal. They come out like ten plus minutes later. As they set them on table another waiter comes out with our entire meals. Still this whole time no silverware or napkins too. So we have our complete meal on table and no way to eat it. The chicken corn chowder soup is better at Wawa. The chicken fingers are McDonald's quality. The fish and chips are poorly cooked McDonalds French fries almost. The fish was ok but was in a cracker meal crust, not what I was expecting. Waitress never came back to check on us. Sat there for over ten minutes when finished waiting for waitress. Now I could tell other other waiters and waitresses where way more involved ours. As tables around us where always checked on. Even another waiter actually got our waitress while we waited. I believe are waitress name was Samantha. She also messed up on a couple other things with our order. read more

Great healthier choices here! My girlfriend and I stopped by after doing some painting in Collingswood. They got my eggs AND pancakes wrong, but they bent over backwards making it right again! I went here on my birthday. I had the Summer Citrus salad (baby spinach, mangoes, strawberries, dried cranberries, pecans, carrots, citrus vinaigrette) with grilled chicken; my daughters had the kids' sliders and pasta. The portion size for my salad was huge (I got two full meals out of it) and all the food was prepared well. Some of my spinach was a bit yellow and wilted, but overall the quality was very good. Service is usually pretty good, but this time we had difficulty getting our server's attention for refills or to place our order. My daughters arranged for a birthday sundae for me and the staff came out to sing Happy Birthday. I never expect wait staff to do it well, but they were all horribly off-key and showed absolutely no enthusiasm when they did it. I went here for dinner with two friends. My one friend was in from out of town and very excited about the idea of this diner - 50s style with lots of vegetarian options. We went in and were pretty shocked at the temperature. It was REALLY cold. I see that a lot of people have mentioned this in reviews, so why aren't they turning up the thermostat setting a bit? I like things a little chilly, but I found myself wanting to inch myself closer to my friends to steal their warmth. I am gluten free, and was very happy to see so many options on the menu for me. You can almost any of the omelettes to be gluten free, but that also means ordering them without the toast or hash browns without any price reduction. That always bugs me. They have gluten-free waffles, but they don't make them in-house. They are Vans waffles, which are tasty, but that turned me off a bit because I could heat them up for myself pretty easily at home. My friend and I ordered bowls of the vegetarian chili, which is gluten free if you order it without the crackers. The price was great for a pretty large portion of chili. My other friend ordered the turkey chili. I also ordered the milkshake that is made with vanilla ice cream, coffee syrup, and a GLUTEN FREE BROWNIE. I was clearly very excited by the gluten-free brownie aspect of it. We were all satisfied with our meals, and my friends couldn't resist trying my awesome milkshake. The milkshake was huge. Part of it was served in a pretty glass cup with whipped cream and a cherry, and the rest of it was brought out in a large metal cup. There was a ton of ice cream, so I was happy to share. The waitress happily split our check three ways and checked on us a few times. I will definitely be coming back now that I know they have so many vegetarian and gluten-free options. So, I'm shopping in Cherry Hill with my husband and he say's; "Want to grab lunch?" He suggests the diner. "You know, that one, the Silver Diner." I didn't want to go because I'm not crazy about diner food in general and I've eaten there before and wasn't crazy about it. But I agreed. I'm so glad I did!!!! It's a whole new experience. The Crispy Fried Brussels Sprouts!!! AMAZING. My husband had a Classic Triple Decker Club-- the bread and meats were so fresh and by boy had the burger, so good! And lots of options for the healthy at heart and the ones who need that comfort food fix. They have a commitment to quality ingredients and service and from what I experienced they are living up to it. Also-- really impressed with there executive Chef and all the good they are doing for local businesses and schools. NOT you average diner and highly recommend if your in that hood.
