I normally hate when people write bad reviews of a place without having eaten there, usually because they're just whining about how the wait was too long or the hostess was a bitch or whatever. However, that's not going to stop me from doing it myself when I feel wronged by an establishment's utter bullshit. We tried to stop in after a movie, at exactly 10:20 pm. The hours on the door clearly state 7 am to midnight. There were people inside, both eating and cooking, but the doors were locked. We tried to get the attention of the people inside, but they blatantly ignored us. Mind you, this was an hour and forty minutes before their stated closing time. Another couple showed up and were angry as well, and tried even harder to get their attention. One waitress glanced over and just shook her head at us, then continued to ignore us. No explanation, no apology, nothing. That's completely unacceptable, and I refuse to ever even attempt to patronize this establishment again. I would advise you to do the same, because a place with such a severe integrity deficit does not deserve your business. read more

This was my 2nd time at this Silver Diner. I visited last March and this past March, both for a convention that I come into NJ for. Both times we were not really blown away by the food. On our most recent visit, we sat at the bar area since the wait for the tables was about 40 minutes (it was a Sunday afternoon). I went with the roasted veggie huevos rancheros and my bf went with the french toast. I found mine to be a little bland. It was definitely nice to be able to go to a little diner and find a healthy option, but taste wise, this was just off. My bf didn't really love his french toast either. Service was great and very quick, but I just wasn't really impressed with their food either time I visited. Not sure if I will return again next year. read more

3 Cheers and 4 stars to Fran (our fabulous server) and the Silver Diner. Yes, it's faux. Yes it's a bit kitschy - but when we went (for a lovely lunch on a weekday at 2 PM) it was clean, nearly empty (great service) and the food was GREAT. My dining companion had a decadent platter of 4 Challah-French toast slices drizzled in (not too much - just right) caramel sauce. Served with 2 eggs and CRISPY long bacon strips. It was the picture of perfection and - according to my friend - tasted great as well. My unique dish was the crab-cakes benedict. (luckily I asked for the sauce on the side - as I did not need the extra glop/calories). The 2 crab cakes (one atop each english muffin half) were VERY good. Lots of crab and not too much filler. I was even able to get broccoli in lieu of home fries. We each ordered soft drinks which were served in large "vats" (free refills) and Fran got us to-go cups, which was a nice extra touch. We'll return for sure! A great alternative to the mall restaurants. read more

Surprisingly impressive and inventive menu for a diner. I liked the emphasis on seasonal, healthy, and even local foods. I had the Mango Vegetarian Stir Fry which is made with quinoa pasta (now I kind of want to buy some quinoa pasta for home). It sounded strange for a diner meal, I was intrigued. It was very good, the mango paired well with the teriyaki, slaw, and sesame seeds. I would like to go back and try the Warm Roasted Local Veggie Salad. Edit: Have gone back and did try the salad. Very good. Better than I expected. Brussel sprouts, beets, pecans, sunflower seeds, squash, apricots and a bunch of other stuff. The champagne vinaigrette worked well, a lighter dressing that showed off the vegetables. I wish that this was the diner that was down the street from my house. Service at the counter was quick and friendly. read more

Oh yeah!! We love this wonderful healthy Diner. First time I ordered online and picked up because of the virus. The food was delicious as usual and was ready when I showed up. We had the under 600 calorie Salmon. The salmon was perfect, the veggies and rice were delicious and the portion was good. YUMMMMMMM!!!! Thanks!!!!! read more

I've been here a few times although not recently, and they have a nice selection of vegetarian options. I have gotten the veggie burger more often than not, n jj had a kids meal, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy n veggies. Not bad, but service could be better. I dont know if they still have the same satisfaction guarantee, but ive gotten a few free meals with it due to errors on my meals. I have to come back and try breakfast one day, i havent tried it yet!! read more

I don't go to diners for seafood, steaks, meatloaf, triple decker sandwiches or mile high pies. For me, there is only one meal to be had-Lox and onion omelette, well done home fries and rye toast with a good cup of coffee. I've had this very same meal at dozens of diners throughout New Jersey. From the horrifically bad to mighty fine. Ok, true confession. I recently gave the Stirling Diner my made up five omelette award. Then, yesterday, I walked in the house and saw my wife drinking coffee from her favorite Silver Diner mug and I recalled that just last year I really enjoyed my breakfast of choice here. The omelette and home fries were beyond delicious as was the coffee. So five omelettes for the Silver Diner. I should mention that we enjoy stopping here on our way to the Aquarium in Camden. Pays to be well fortified. And my wife always stops here on her way back to North Jersey after visiting clients in Philadelphia. She's just in love with the place. We hope to visit again soon. read more

Finally, a decent diner outside of Philly! My husband & I came for breakfast one Sunday & we were really surprised. The people who work here are so friendly & adorable! The fod was really good too. Their chocolate chip pancakes were really good, as was their coffee. My favorite part of the whole diner was their little table top juke boxes at each booth. Very cute! The decor is cute kitschy 50s stuff so they were fitting. I'm not sure how thir lunch/dinner food is, but I will definitely be back for breakfast! read more

I absolutely love this place! I came here once as kid and I guess my family and I weren't impressed because we never came back. However, I randomly clicked on their yelp page one day and was shocked to see so many good reviews and I found out that they really take care into where they get their ingredients from. I immediately told my family and we tried it out. While my first meal wasn't amazing, it definitely wasn't bad and I fell in love with the atmosphere, menu and friendly service. We've been back a few times since then and I've had some meals I probably wouldn't get again but nothing has ever been bad here. They have a large and diverse menu and plenty of vegan and vegetarian items, which I really appreciate. The service is always great, extremely friendly servers. I always leave this place feeling satisfied and I'm always excited to go back. One of my favorite places to eat! read more

Our trip to the Silver Diner was disappointing; mostly because it's just such a cool old school diner and it just SEEMS like it'll be awesome. Maybe our expectations were too high, or maybe we were just that 'unlucky' seating that got the shaft, who knows. The service was spotty - our coffee was cold from the get go and it took a solid 10-15 minutes to get water. Then our food (which was standard quality, nothing to write home about) came and my girlfriend's eggs were cold. It wasn't the worst experience I've ever had, but I'll be in no rush to go back. Too bad, cause the atmosphere is soooo cool I really wanted to be impressed. We didn't try any of the milkshakes or malts, but they have an impressive menu in that regard. Could be a winner for a to go malt or shake! read more

I'm a huge fan of silver diner and usually I am totally happy to eat here under any condition, but this following weekend we found out that there is certainly a circumstance that that renders them kind of awful. We stopped by en route to the mall on a Sunday morning, right in the peak of brunch o'clock and also right before the mall opened. The place was packed, there was a wait, tons of kids, and the staff was in a downright mean mood. I asked if we could sit out the counter, and there was space so we were sat immediately. Our waitress got us water relatively fast and coffee in a reasonable amount of time. We put our food order in and we read and searched about the internets while we waited. Now I understand the magnitude of food that they were churning out at this point, and I understand that when you've got three tables and you're the counter waitress your hands are a bit full. But 25 minutes is a bit long to wait for eggs and toast, especially when you're sitting at the counter, especially when the waitress doesn't notice your empty coffee and water cups. The food was mediocre, and I really find it difficult to believe that my friend's nearly orange colored scrambled eggs were made from organic eggs (or that they had real egg origins at all). But hey, your menu has lots of nice pictures of the owners and farmers together, so I believe you.... or do i? It's probable this lack luster encounter was a fluke, and that it was just a coincidence brought about by our timing, our choice to sit at the counter, etc etc etc. but whichever it was, we're going to take a break from there for awhile. on a positive note we did get 10% off the check for yelp check in, however the waitress then charged us for adding cheese to my friends eggs $.70 which he did not receive (so that basically made the 10% discount worthless) read more

One of my favorites! Great, fresh food always. Service is always so pleasant too! Their menu changes seasonally so I try to stop in to try the new menu items and I am never disappointed. Today I tried their new cauliflower app -yum! The black bean quesadilla was amazing. Shakes are really good too - my daughter loves their Nutella banana shake. Looking forward to coming back and trying their new summer cod dish next. read more

Silver Diner is a hard place to review because, you really gotta be in the right audience to actually like it. If you're seeking for good Diner Food, but prepared with a healthy, organic, & all-natural mindset, I think you will love the Silver Diner. My favorite item is easily their Breakfast Burrito & I love the fact that you can build-a-burger. Their Sweet Potato Fries are also great. This is the 'audience' the Silver Diner markets too, and I give Silver Diner a 4 stars on this part. But if you're seeking for good Diner Food period, I don't know if the Silver Diner is for you. There is certainly better 'diners' out there, but than you're ignoring a huge part of the appeal behind the Silver Diner, which is the fact it's a (good) hybrid of healthy Food & Diner Food. Just know that place gets jampacked frequently -- The food isn't that slow (given the busyness of the diner), but do have some spare time just in case. read more

The food at this faux diner is outstanding in its mediocrity. They apparently subscribe to the Marge Simpson school of seasoning: "The secret ingredient is salt!" read more

Yeah, I was pretty shocked the food came out looking just like the picture on the menu. lol It doesn't really happen too often at other places. The food was pretty good and the service was ok. The only thing that we disliked was how cold it was in there. They had the AC set to maximum warp drive. I felt like I was eating outside in Alaska. Not sure if they keep it that cold all the time but I think if I was the workers, I would freeze my butt off. I guess it gets customers in and out quick. I would definitely eat here again. The food was very good and the presentation was just like in the menu picture like I said earlier. I would have given this place a 5 star rating if it wasn't so bone chilling inside and the waitress could have been a little more tentative. read more

The Silver Diner is a little different than most diners around the area. It's one of the few restaurants that really try to bring in farm fresh ingredients to their kitchen. It's always nice to see this in a restaurant, even more so in a diner. This sort of integrity does raise the overall menu price up a bit from a traditional diner, but the extra buck or two is well worth it. My only complaint on the ingredients is they seem 50/50 on the use of natural and commercial ingredients. If you'd like a visual of what I mean, half the tables have organic ketchup while the other half has Heinz (with HFCS). It's a literal example of my statement, but this example spills into the ingredients SD uses in their kitchen. Sit at the counter a while and you'll know what I mean. The menu at SD has a little bit of everything and almost anyone can find something they like. Vegans will find it the most difficult as their menu is lacking vegan options. I mention this because they have soy milk, raw sugar, and boast about their veganslaw; however, it's hard to find other vegan options without getting creative. For those watching their calories, the menu features a 600 calorie or less section which is appreciated. Their menu does change slightly throughout the seasons so be sure to check back often for the latest goodies. The service here is mostly good. As a frequent customer, I have noticed that 1 out of every 10 employees seem to not really care about the customer. I've learned to ask for certain servers, but someone new could have a bad experience just solely on getting that 1 out of 10 - which would truly be a shame. An additional annoyance is that sometimes a rather large crowd of servers collect at one of the counters. This typically wouldn't be a problem unless you are awaiting service and see almost every server standing in one spot chatting amongst themselves. I've only experienced this once or twice, but it's enough to make mention of it in an unbiased review. Overall SD is a great little diner. I really like that they have recently brought in the soy milk, raw sugar, and all natural jellies. I just hope that they continue to bring in all natural and organic products and phase out the fake stuff. If you have a problem with the diner speak to a manager or fill out a comment card. The managers do respond to either method and will gladly try to rectify any problems that are under their control. Lastly, be sure to leave a good comment card too if your experience was good - they like good news as well. =0) read more

Silver Diner is one of my favorite diners. I'd say it's a little more upscale, but not like you have to dress better or anything. It's old fashioned, but the food is great. Arrived around noon on a Saturday, expect a 10-15 min wait. There's lots of choices to choose from. Great service too!

I've been here a number of times/ordered food for delivery through Express Grub and every time has been AMAZING!!! Despite the name, I wouldn't consider the food selection to be very "diner" like... And that's because the quality of the food is just TOO good. Everything is super fresh, organic, yadda yadda. The interior is super cute, retro diner themed with juke boxes at the tables. I've had a few of their burgers and honestly they're the best I've ever had. Usually I go for the Spinach Feta Lamb Burger but the Basil Pesto Burger is also to die for. read more

I went there on a whim. The place was empty and the service was subpar. I asked for more coffee and the server looked at me as if I was insane. Wow... What happened. The last time I was at this place was like 4 years ago. I didn't expect much more than a diner experience in Jersey, but I was mistaken. I'm guessing new ownership or new strategy. The food was amazing and they claimed to source their food from local farms. It was so much more than I was expecting. The service was good and friendly as well. I will be back. read more

Wow was I surprised when reviewing the menu. Hadn't been there for over a year at which time I wasn't excited about the food Was in the area and wanted a quick bite. Healthy choices abound in the new summer menu, Nitrate free bacon, quinoa as a veggie, healthy shakes etc. I opted for 1/2 turkey and bacon sandwich and summer citrus salads. The duo was outstanding. The salads was fresh and refreshing! I will definitely be returning shortly. read more

The food here is excellent. The service is inferior. The waiter was late in taking our orders. Never once refilled my coffee. When he did stop by - he was extremely insincere. I was starving and had a delicious HUGE, juicy burger for lunch. Cooked just to my liking - medium but on the rare side and served with fries and a pickle. Cheap, clean, fast and delicious! I hear breakfast is out of this world...I'll have to try next time I'm there. read more

great food and wonderful waitress named Sara

Oh, dear. I think that people who adore this diner may just not have ever experienced *actual* diners before. I am sure that diners of the 50s looked just like Silver Diner looks today, but it's fake, fake, fake. It's all just kitschy and weird and the food doesn't even taste that great. I ordered Canadian bacon with my eggs and my server looked at me as if I had asked if I could have some wasabi with my sushi. You want a real diner? Go all of three blocks into Cherry Hill and there's one on every single corner. read more

I would have given this place 2 stars (the service was pretty crappy both times from Brandon) but the food is good enough to have bumped it up a star. I had a cobb salad both times I was there and my friend had the philly cheese-steak omelette which is soo freakin' good. Its definitely better than your average diner but next time, I'm asking for a different waiter because I cant't deal with disconnected and inattentive. read more

Out of the diners i go in south jersey, its usually the cleanest and most organized. We usually always know what we like to order and stick to that. They are very good for families with children. The boneless pork chops are very good. My wife likes the scramblers. My children like the chocolate chip pancakes. There are better diners in the area, but not on service, friendliness or consistency combined. even if the waiting area is packed, they seem to turn over tables rather quickly. read more

Although it's a corporate outfit, and manufactured to look, feel, and seem like an old time diner, it does a good job. All the diner fare is very tasty and the menu is deep. It's a great place for a burger and a cola with your best gal. read more

Two thumbs up! We opted for breakfast for dinner - and man this is far beyond diner breakfast. Everything was delicious. We had Huevos Rancheros, banana stuffed French toast, and chicken and waffles. Cherry Hill, NJ So my friend brought me here several times when he visited the area on Sundays and I enjoyed it. This is not a standard American food diner with a creative menu. I don't usually like typical Chinese food but I liked the ways it is combined or cooked here at the Silver Diner. And it is 24 hours! read more

I was pleasantly surprised. I am accustomed to diners being standard "greasy spoon" joints who all serve the same food. This one does things a little differently and I would come back if I am shopping in the area(it is within walking distance of Kohl's, Target, and other shops). They have very many healthy options on their menu and they even show the nutritional information for them. My wife enjoyed the baja fish tacos with a salad, for instance. But don't be put off by this; they still have all the comfort food you'd expect at a diner with some originality mixed in. I enjoyed the bacon bleu cheese burger, for instance. All in all, I'd say this isn't exactly the place to go for a nice night on the town, but it is a very enjoyable place to bring the kids for a quick bite after a shopping trip or a movie (they are right around the corner from Loew's Cineplex). read more

As a lifelong Jersey girl, I feel pretty confident in my opinions of diners. And this one is pretty OK. I come here before or after most visits to the movies with my boyfriend. Really enjoying the new menu, which focuses on healthy fare with locally sourced ingredients, an emphasis on organic options, and several vegetarian or vegan nods. I would buy the farm-to-table initiative more if it was made apparent just where the ingredients come from and which local producers are being patronized. The prices are higher than your standard diner, but the food is more thoughtful and higher quality as well. As a health conscious person, some menu items I have enjoyed: - The California omelet. Chicken and vegetables stuffed inside a fluffy omelet, with a nice little side of strawberries. - A side summer citrus salad with the small veggie chili -When I feel like indulging, the black bean quesadilla is just cheesy and crisp enough to satisfy. If you're stopping by after the movies, this is a perfectly fine place to have coffee and some cake, too. read more

I was headed back to NYC after a meeting and hadn't eaten all day. The Silver Diner's shiny exterior beckoned/blinded me from the road and so I made it my culinary destination. I am so glad that I did! Unlike so many restaurants (diners and otherwise) that pay lip service to the current organic and healthy and paleo-gluten-dinosaur trends, Silver Diner actually created an entire delicious menu in a thoughtful way. While they carry all the standard diner fare you'd expect, nearly everything is more complex, interesting, or healthier than any diner I've seen. My coworkers and I loved having the breadth of a diner menu without the feeling of shame that we would have got from stopping at the 15 TGI Friday's that we saw along the way. Worth a stop! read more

Sitting at the top of the hill, overlooking the mall, I never gave much thought to Silver Diner. Late one Sunday evening, the roomie and I were deciding where to get a quick bite that would fulfill what we both wanted. Luckily, Silver Diner was open and came to the recuse. Once you take a seat and let the kitschy retro vibe sink in, this place is pretty fabulous. The service from the young waiter was great, even though it was almost closing time and the kitchen staff was cleaning up. I knew right away that I wanted the American sliders, and my roomie decided on the turkey chili. The sliders were pretty flavorful with just the right amount of thousand island dressing and the amazing cholula caramelized onions on the side. My roommate said her turkey chili was good too, and it was a decent portion size. The menu attempts to be seasonal, which I can appreciate from a diner. There are multiple locations in the region, from here to Maryland. This could potentially be my new diner spot! read more

Great place for vegans with more than a couple of options! Everything on the menu is labeled clear if it's vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and any other health concerns! They have quinoa pasta, don't know many places that have this in the area. Take a look at their menu and check this place out yourself. Its a laid back casual atmosphere and open late like a typical diner. Service was good and employees were helpful. We were looking for an outlet to charge one of our phones and an employee who noticed we were looking for one alerted we had were seated at the only booth with one. Score! read more

I love this place! I've read such good reviews and when I was in the area recently I decided I had to give them a try! From the road it is a shiny silver, glowing beacon of 1950's Americana. Inside it is spotless with smiling, happy servers and comfortable booths. The booths have a mini jukebox that you can pay to play songs from. As customers select the songs they are played throughout the entire restaurant. It's a neat idea but if people aren't paying the restaurant sits quiet and it's not as nice. Maybe there can be ambient music when customers aren't selecting songs? As for the food, I was quite surprised by their take on typical diner fare. The food is health conscious- if you want to be, while maintaining traditional items like burgers and fries. Many items have calorie counts and seem customizable. I was on a bit of a grilled cheese kick at the time so I ordered the Deluxe Grilled Cheese. There are a few cheeses on sourdough bread grilled to crispy perfection. It comes with a cranberry orange ginger dipping sauce which was unusual yet delicious. It's a bit odd, but who doesn't enjoy dunking a sandwich? Instead of fries I had the coleslaw which was light and tasty with crunchy cabbage and sweet-tart cranberries. I had also been on a brussel sprout kick and asked if the sprouts could be added into the grilled cheese. They did and it was great! If you don't like brussel sprouts I'm convinced you just haven't enjoyed them cooked properly! I ended the meal by sharing a brownie sundae with my date. It was above average for a brownie sundae but nothing spectacular. The caramel sauce happened to be especially yummy. I can't wait to go back and try something else! Their breakfast items seemed rather special. read more

The service was good but the menu has certainly changed over the years. We had to scour the menu to find "dinner food". The tuna melt was good but the grilled cheese (8.95!) was more like dry toast with barely-melted cheese. There wasn't much else on the menu that appealed to us. read more
