Found this place last minute on a whim after drinks out with the girls and I am SO GLAD I DID!! Ryan was so amazing and helpful as it was my first time there, and he actually tried to help me (a very indecisive person) decide on what to order which was so so kind of him. Most places I go to it's very obvious that whoever is taking my order doesn't care and rarely offers actual helpful guidance around the menu. And the FOODDD. I got the vegan mushroom burger and the bites + fries. When I say this is the best post-night out meal I've had in YEARS... I've been trying to eat less meat and have been missing out on the occasional burger here and there but their vegan burger seriously went above and beyond all expectations. Even my boyfriend who tried it was amazed and said he wouldn't be able to tell it was vegan if I didn't tell him. All I can say is, I'm definitely coming back. Sideburns is bookmarked. Been a long time hype man of this establishment but my last experience had me in utter disappointment!! Ordered at the counter and walked next door to grab a drink while i waited they said they would bring it over when it was ready! Not a busy night... didn't even wait in line...sat down and got a drink waited 45 MINUTES TOTAL and no one had brought it over. 25 minutes passed and walked over to check the status... they said they'd bring it over....20 more minutes passed and my stomach is growling so I walk back over next door to check the status AGAIN and staff scrambled saying they would bring it over ASAP. My favorite burger spot in Long Beach right now. The number of options they have here is fantastic. The people working here are always friendly, I've seen them very nicely deal with Karens before. Anyways, I've tried my way around the menu here. The only burger I would caution against is the Smash Cristo which is deep-fried. Only get this one if you're looking for something that decadent. My go-to's are either the Bacon Bleu or the Italian Stallion. Just really solid burgers here with excellent toppings. Personally love the fries here, you can get a half order with any burger. Just some extra tips, parking can be tough here, there is parking in the residential, but the streets can be tight. This place is much preferred during the nightlife, especially when having drinks in their connected bar next door, the Stache. My first time here was during the day when I ordered a mushroom Swiss sandwich as well as their chili cheese fries. I brought two others who both ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich. The swish mushroom burger was a buttery and cheesy bite, with a delicate umami flavor coating the mouth followed by the gentle Swiss cheese taste. Those simple ingredients made for an easy to eat burger that melted in my mouth. The chili cheese fries was good for the first few bites, however the beans overpowered the taste of the cheese and chili, as well as being unseasoned it made the fries taste starchy. The ones I brought who enjoyed the chicken sandwiches said it had a good flavor and was a good portion of chicken within the sandwich. Another time I came was more recently with some other friends who enjoyed their meals and will come back to eat here whenever they are near. They were impressed by the quality and balance of each of their burgers. This time I had a vegan smash burger which was surprisingly light for a burger. The patty tasted incredible, better than an actual beef patty. Due to the substitution of a vegan patty, the sauce had no fat to cut through so the sharp tanginess was more pronounced. No part of the burger was overwhelming and complemented each other respectively. I've been wanting to try more vegan options, but after eating this burger I definitely want to try more of their vegan options. read more

I don't know the brand of patty though I bite it on its own, and I like the taste. Yet, if there are bigger options of a bun, I recommend getting a bigger option. The Vegan Fish and Chips are good. I'm full a few bites into my meal though I think that's cause I feel fuller going into my meal too. Customer service is on point. There were similar splats on the walls. The floors had grimy blackness all around the edges. There's cluttered shelves in the kitchen and on the counter. Cords spider-web the wall from the outlets. I wanted a vegan burger with the fried mushroom, cheese, tomatoes, etc, and my son wanted a regular burger, no cheese, no mayo, just lettuce, tomato, ketchup. When our order arrived my toppings were on his burger and his toppings were on my burger! Since our base is what's most important, we tried to swap, but it made such a mess it was gross and we ended up not eating much. I called the restaurant MANY MANY times but could never reach a person. I could also not reach a person via UberEats, the only option was to send an email into the abyss. What a waste of $$$! This place is AMAZING! Not sure how we didn't know these amazing burgers have been in the LBC for the last 5 years.... But so glad we tried it. They're big on flavor and made with love, but not too heavy. The bun is light and fresh and all the toppings have kick you in the mouth flavor. We had the Italian Stallion (my FAVE) and the Mushroom Swiss (also good, but no Italian Stallion!) and the tater tots. Tots were perfectly crispy without being too oily. I loved that I was not over-full after the meal (as I am with many burger joints). This food is made with LOVE LOVE LOVE! We sat on the Sideburns side to eat then stuck our heads in the Stache bar just to feel the vibe...it's appropriately dark and mysterious with a beautiful tufted banquette that you want to melt into. I had the super juicy Smash Stache Cheeseburger and the hubs had The Works which had a beer battered mushroom on i that was like a glorious fungus phenomenon! There's a huge selection of calorie worthy side dishes which come with various toppings, it was like reading a Waffle House menu, think smothered and covered but California style. (If you've not had smothered and covered you need to get out of this state more.) We opted for just straight up tater tots and stared in wonder as they hit our table all crispy and golden with beautiful salt crystals clinging to their beautiful selves. No ketchup was needed for this tater tot tower, we devoured them like we had the munchies. I appreciated the blatant lack of plastic everywhere. The food came in little paper baskets like an old style drive in. There's a well stocked beer cooler with some familiar labels and some new finds. The staff were friendly and jolly and chatty, which we love! There are fun murals on the walls and cute tables right in the front windows for dog watching! I love that they let you customize your burger exactly how you want it, and everything is always freshly cooked and served hot. A surprisingly good and welcome alternative. I recently visited after not being by in a few months and was pleased with my selections. Our original outing was to get ramen, but the wait was too long ( a good sign for them) and we decided to start walking towards downtown. Along the way, we realized that Sideburns was open and decided to go there as as afterthought. Glad we did because it really hit the spot. I got the mushroom swiss burger and it was incredibly tasty. GF got the vegan fish and chips (made with portobello mushrooms) and she was very happy with her choice. In addition, we got the fried cheese curds, which is something neither of us had tried. They were great with both the tartar sauce and the ranch that accompanied our meal. To top it off, they have an excellent selection of beers for a reasonable price. I got an Alesmith Speedway stout and she got a Guiness, both for about half of what I would pay at a bar. Highly recommend. read more

Chilli cheese fries were fire af, the regular backyard burger was amazing, the fries were perfectly crispy even in the chilli cheese fries, the vegan grilled cheese was super yummy (and I normally hate vegan cheese), the jalapeño ranch was bomb, and my bf really enjoyed his vegan smash burger with added avocado and vegan chilli! The smash hamburger caused me to become ill, resulting in diarrhea and a stomach virus. This could be due to the patty not being cooked thoroughly or possibly being contaminated. Such a situation is completely unacceptable, and I believe it is necessary to notify the health department. Additionally, the onion rings, priced at nine dollars, were disappointing as the ranch dressing doesn't taste good and did not enhance the flavor. The onion rings soggy . This place doesn't look like much, but the burgers are FAN-F'ing-TASTIC!!! And the service is TOP notch! Okay, so we drove in from San Pedro specifically due to the reviews. We get there, and they are having a plumbing issue (not there fault, but rather the upstairs residents.) They inform us they have closed the restaurant due to it. We let them know we drove in from Pedro and the awesome counter rep goes back to the kitchen to inform the cooks, comes back out and thanks us for driving over and let's us know they would be glad to cook for us! Awesome! We decided to eat our food next door at the Stache, super chill dive bar that is connected to the restaurant. The counter rep brings us our food over at the bar and adds a side of their dill ranch for our fries. We ordered the backyard classic burger and the Don Chendo Burger, and damn, both were amazing! The Chendo was super unique with fried cheese and jalapeño on the bun and a green chili verde sauce on the burger....FIRE AF! Cannot wait to comeback and explore the rest of the menu. Only downside to this place, I saw Packer memorabilia and I bleed purple and gold...SKOL Vikings! (won't doc a point obviously but I will come in my Vikings jersey next time).
