This review is for their customer service and process of doing gift cards. We received a gift card that was mailed to us directly from the store. There was no "from" line on the actual gift card and no note saying who it was from. I called the store twice to find out who sent it and they were very rude both times, explaining they don't keep or take this information. The first time I called I was told this information can only be gotten from the manager who wouldn't be there for 5 days. When I called back, I was basically told too bad, all we have is the last 4 digits of the credit card. It was very very strange - when I explained that I would like to thank the kind person who sent it, they seemed to shrug it off saying too bad, we just don't do this. Again - the card was sent directly from the store so they had to speak to someone and agree to mail it. You would think they would at least apologize or admit they made a mistake - we're all only human - but their rudeness on both occasions was unacceptable. read more

Extremely rude! Treated me like I was suspect number 1 for cupcake-gate. There was a line, completely skipped over me, and helped a Range Rover that drove by that parked right in front. Five years after I first discovered Sibby's, I have decided to update my review after several more visits. All that time, and these are still our favorite cupcakes in the Bay Area! Sibby's is really tucked away by the railroad tracks, it would be so easy to miss it... and that would be your loss! They mainly do custom orders, but you can drop in and see what "extras" they have on hand for the day. Today I picked up 3 flavors- one of the flavors of the month- white chocolate passion, snickerdoodle, and mocha. We tried the white chocolate passion first and I had to say it was amazing! Loved the tanginess of the passionfruit and the chocolate wasn't too sweet, giving it a nice balance of flavor. Definite winner! Next we tried the snickerdoodle. Good cinnamon taste and solid overall, but it did taste pretty close to carrot cake for us. Lastly, we tried the mocha. Very rich with a strong chocolate flavor (I loved the ganache on top!) and the mocha flavor kicked in after the chocolate. Very tasty as well! As with most gourmet cupcakes, these aren't cheap ($3.50 for regular size), but the quality definitely makes it worth it. You can get minis as well if you want to try more flavors or are hosting a party. My wife doesn't usually crave sweets, but she does ask me to bring Sibby's home. We'll definitely be back for more sometime soon! read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the cupcakes were! I have a huge sweet tooth so constantly trying new desserts and pastries from bakeries. I got red velvet and butter cup cupcakes. The frostings on top were different between the two, which gave it a fun twist. The butter cup frosting was delicate and had a unique taste (I'm not sure how to describe it-- almost like it had some flower extract). Best part was the cake itself-- the perfectly moist consistency. Not too fluffy (not a fluffy light airy cake fan) or dry. The appearance of the cupcakes were also great! I stumbled upon this place through yelp this morning because I had a craving for cupcakes and was in the downtown area. The bakery was easy to find with ample parking. The place is very small and doesn't really have a store front. I walked in and was amazed at the sight of about 4 or 5 ladies frosting cupcakes. It was nice to see part of the process. Unfortunately I'm only giving this place 2 stars because the actual cake of the cupcake is delicious and moist, but the reasons below explain the deductions. 1. 2 stars off for customer service: As I walked in , all ladies looked at me as if I walked into a restricted area. The lady spoke with me was very short in her responses. She didn't seem very eager to help to me. I told her this was my first time here and didn't know how to order or what was available and that I was excited to try the cupcakes because of the raving reviews on yelp. I feel that the first face to face contact with a business gives a lasting impression and it unfortunately was lacking a welcoming atmosphere. I could tell that they were busy with orders, but it made me feel like my business wasn't important to them. I don't even remember how I found this hidden gem considering it's hidden among a bunch of auto shops facing the railroad. I haven't had a cupcake that I dislike, but my favorite is their Grandma's chocolate tea cake. It consists of chocolate cake and frosting with a cream cheese/chocolate chip center. The cake is moist with just enough frosting for each bite. And the center just makes it more than your average cupcake. They mainly cater towards their preorders, but you can individually buy any extra cupcakes. This means that they normally have a very limited selection if you just walk-in to buy a cupcake. I always get froyo when I go to Clear Optometry, and was so happy when I first started to go to them that they carried cupcakes from That Takes The Cake. However, when I last walked in a couple months ago I saw that they were carrying Sibby's cupcakes. I was always curious about their cupcakes after hearing so much about them. It was the perfect opportunity to try them too since Sibby's only takes orders of a dozen minimum. I decided to share a red velvet cupcake with him. The cupcake was perfectly moist and the cream cheese frosting wasn't overly sweet. The frosting was also not soft but not so hard, perfect for eating and not getting smeared all over your face. It packed a punch, but didn't throw a knock out. I would say that Sibby's red velvet is on my top five list of best red velvets. read more

If you are coming from El Camino, you will make a right as soon as you pass that toy store. I parked on 4th Street in front of Draeger's Market (BTW- it is THE best grocery store I've ever been to) and decided to walk to the bakery, thinking it would be in the downtown area but no - this is located in the strip of all the warehouses and industrial buildings. Sibby's Cupcakery is not a store per se but more like a bakery that cater to orders but has a very limited and small one offs for sell. Pricing: - a mini cupcake is $2.25 - a regular size cupcake is $3.50 - a jumbo cupcake is $8 - half a dozen mini cupcakes are $13.50 - half a dozen regular size cupcakes are $21 - a dozen mini cupcakes are $27 - a dozen regular size cupcakes are $42 Kind of pricey if you ask me but the most important thing is, "Was it worth it?" The cupcake I chose: Grandma's Chocolate Tea Cake (no tea) is- rich chocolate cupcake w/ chocolate cream cheese center topped w/ rich fudge chocolate frosting. I don't get the name because I asked if it contains any "tea" in the cupcake but obviously after reading the description, it does not. The cake is moist enough to not be dry; I was expecting it to be a lot moist-er [I made it a word!], the chocolate cream cheese center was not in the center, it was located towards the top part of the cupcake and it wasn't a generous heaping of it either, and I'll admit the frosting was delicious. I was supposed to save that cupcake for the next day because Victoria C. advised me that since we have had our sugar fill from our cookie exchange that Emmalouise B. organized, it is not wise to be consuming more sugar. At first I held it off w/o a problem but after I got home from a long ass day of driving all over the Bay Area, I caved and devoured the cupcake a little after 9PM. I'm sorry but I had no remorse at that time. I told and promised Victoria C. that I will treat myself to a decadent dessert just once a week once January 1st hits. Can I do it? I have to because I became a garbage disposal after Saturday and sort of blamed it on the holidays but in reality, it was all my fault. I had a chocolate-chocolate bundlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes for breakfast on Monday, I had a slice of Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory for breakfast yesterday, on Christmas morning, and I must have had over 20 chocolate chip cookies, 2 fudge brownies. and a million other things I can't believe I ate; pure gluttony but you know what? As miserable and fat, not to mention ugly I felt yesterday, I feel kind of awesome today because I burned over 500 calories this morning at the gym and I slept rather early. I don't think I would feel that horrible if the gym was opened yesterday! Damn them. I'll come to Sibby's again if I am ever in the area to try their other chocolate cupcakes but w/ over 2,000 bookmarks I doubt I'll make a second attempt at Sibby's anytime soon and w/ this New Year's "new" Tram, I will be more selective of what I eat. Christina F., how you could you do this to me?!! *shaking fist* Thanks to your post on cupcakes, I had this idea in the back of my mind that I should get some Sibby's. I emailed Sibby on Thursday night to ask if it's possible to pick up a sampler on Friday and on Friday morning at 9:00 someone called me from their bakery to let me know that they had 1 more order that they could put in for me. Their pickup location is convenient for me and they sent me home with a nice big pink box with a dozen gorgeous cupcakes inside. They even decorated the inside of the box with a paper doily and the cupcakes were in individual paper holders, similar to a soft drink holder at your local fast food resto. What was really nice was that they had a small piece of silicon drawer liner and told me to put the box on top of that so that the box wouldn't slide around in the car. That's first class service, I tell you! This was what was in the sampler: 1. Butter Cup (vanilla cupcake with pink vanilla buttercream frosting and sprinkles) 2. Carrot Cinnamon (Super-Moist carrot cupcake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting with a cute carrot decoration) 3. Chocolate & Cream (Rich chocolate cupcake with blue and white vanilla cream cheese frosting) 4. Grandma's Chocolate Tea Cake (Rich chocolate cupcake with cream cheese/chocolate chip center, toped with rich and fudgy chocolate frosting - decoration reminded me of a Ding Dong) 5. Lemon Drop (Lemon cupcake with fresh lemon buttercream frosting) 6. Flavor of the Month (Marshmellow and graham cracker decoration) OHMIGODOHMIGODOHMIGOD!!!! It is to TDF! First time ordering and they did not disappoint! The birthday theme mini cupcakes were cute and I was able to request to add name & age of my son without extra charge. Also, they let you pick 2 colors of your choice. The cupcakes were moist and frosting wasn't too sweet either. I ran two hours at the gym today trying to shed the lbs. I gained this weekend from eating a whole box of cupcakes! These cupcakes were sooo good. I ordered three dozen for a family event -- correction two dozen for the family event and one dozen for myself. They were so yummy. The frosting just melts deliciously in your mouth and the cake is moist and fluffy! They don't have a storefront but will deliver it to your home or office from SF to Sunnyvale for a $25 charge. Cupcakes are $39 a dozen and $24 for minis... I'm now going to order these for Thanksgiving and make it a family tradition...
