The cake itself was moist and had a strong matcha flavor, which was a huge plus. A lot of matcha cakes and pastries tend to have a very subtle matcha taste, so I was pleasantly surprised by how much the matcha flavor came through. I'm also not a huge frosting person, and I believe the cream was buttercream, which was probably the biggest downside for me. It wasn't overly sweet, but the consistency was just too thick for both my husband and me. I even tried leaving it out for over an hour to see if it would soften, but it remained dense. I do wish there were more fruit in the filling. It was mainly cream and a few berries. We sliced the cake on Saturday, and by Monday the exposed part of the cake from where it was cut had become pretty dry. I ended up cutting off the dry outer layer, but thankfully the inside was still moist, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the cake. Ordering through Square was easy. I ordered the 4-inch cake with a marble design, matcha cake, strawberry cream, and strawberries. One thing to note is that if you order the 4-inch cake, there wasn't a section to add custom text. You'll need to email or call them with your order number to let them know what you want written on the cake. Overall, the highlight of the cake was definitely the cake itself. The moisture and strong matcha flavor really stood out and were my favorite parts. If I were to order from this bakery again, I'd probably try a different filling and cream because the buttercream just wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference. read more

When I tell you this cake was finished so fast at my dance teams after party. We were surprising two people on our team who are twin birthdays so I decided to get them this cake after hearing great things from Simple Delights. When the lady called she was very kind and got working the cake and even finished early. I ask them to make a small edit and they were more than willing to do so which I really appreciate. The buttercream was lovely balance of sweetness and earthiness and the ube was rich and just such a fire flavor combo. I submitted the form on Saturday and didn't hear anything back. Since they are closed Mondays, I followed up myself on Tuesday. There had apparently been a mix-up with my email address, which was understandable, and the clerk said they would resend the information. As soon as I received it, I immediately completed the custom cake order form and replied to their email. After hearing nothing again, my husband called on Wednesday, only to be told they would not make the cake because there "wasn't enough time." What was frustrating is that we had contacted them well in advance and had been actively trying to place this order for days. If we had simply been told earlier that they could not accommodate a Mother's Day order, that would have been completely understandable. Instead, we were repeatedly delayed with poor communication and then dismissed at the last minute. My husband politely explained the situation and asked if there was any way they could help us, but the clerk was short, frustrated, and unwilling to work with us at all. The entire interaction felt unfriendly and unhelpful. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the communication and customer service here were extremely disappointing. This is a nice little shop with desserts, and the service is decent. We got the Ube Cheesecake, Matcha Panna Cotta, Ube Butter Mochi, and Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream. The Ube Cheesecake tasted weird as hell and didn't taste at all like Ube. I definitely wouldn't get this awful tasting Cheesecake again. The Matcha Panna Cotta was okay. I could taste a little Matcha, but not a lot. It was nothing special and I have tasted better Panna Cotta. The Ube Butter Mochi was okay. It thankfully tasted better than the Cheesecake and had the right texture. This also tasted fine, but didn't taste like Ube at all. The best thing I tried there was the Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream. It had good flavor and actually tasted like Matcha Green Tea. Overall, most of the desserts were meh. If I am going to pay for the flavoring of these desserts, then I want them to actually taste like the flavor they say. So, I wouldn't recommend this place or come here again. read more
