    Flavors of India cake

We ordered a Flavors of India cake from Shru's online store. The order and pick up process was very easy and straightforward. The cake had incredible flavors and was beautiful. We can't wait to try the other flavors. We also love that the cakes are completely vegan (no dairy, no eggs, no honey).

Must try I tried a variety box with a samosa galette, saffron cake, cardamom rose pistachio roll, and chai banana bundt cake, and everything was amazing. The frosting on the saffron cake wasn't too sweet, and the consistency was perfect. The samosa galette was rich with flavor, and I wish I had more of it! I highly recommend trying out Shru's Kitchen

I have been getting cakes from Shru's Kitchen for over a year. My favorite cakes are the Flavors of India and the Classic Chocolate. They are delicious and the icing on the cake is that they are vegan (no pun intended)- people don't even notice it's vegan until I mention it to them! I highly recommend Shru's Kitchen for your special occasions and am sure you won't be disappointed. Try it for yourself!

I ordered a small flavors of India cake, and it was delicious! The owner is also super friendly and nice, and very accommodating. The cake was flavorful, and nicely decorated! I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. Pickup was also very well coordinated, will definitely be back to place another order!

Shru's Kitchen is a great little cottage bakery. We ordered a 6" flavors of India cake on her website, and the process for ordering and pickup was very simple. The cake was delicious and unique. Perfect sweetness levels. The cardamom, pistachio and coconut went so well together, and the cake itself was beautiful. The 6" cake was pretty big and enough to serve at least 8 people. We had leftovers, which was not a bad problem to have! We liked it so much, we made a field trip to Pastries and Pups in Oakland to try her pop-up baked goods. There, we got another flavors of India cake square (still just as amazing) and a chai spiced banana bread. The banana bread is the best I've ever had. The ratio of banana to chocolate to chai spice was bliss - you know when something is just perfect? I wish I still had some now! Shru's kitchen isn't just a good vegan bakery, it's a good bakery. 5/5!

Shruti filled a much needed space in the market for vegan cakes. Her recipes are innovative, creat and quite frankly some of the most delicious desserts I've ever had! She's also super punctual and responsive and gives you all the info you need on ordering, paying, pickup, and cake care instructions. She's my one stop shop for all celebrations!

Absolutely love her cakes. We have tried their Flavors of India and the Matcha pistachios so far and liked both but prefer the Flavors of India. We were a little scared at first since we have never tried Indian cake before. It did not disappoint and we just loved every bite!!! The star was really the coconut cream. Where do you find vegan cake with affordable prices and quality ingredients? Here of course! Shru is also very nice and responses quickly to inquires on IG. She is dedicated to her profession! Love her! She now accepts DoorDash and Porch Pickup orders as well. Her cakes all come out beautifully with her eligible toppings such as eligible rose petals and pistachios.

My husband recently got the Flavors of India cake for my birthday from Shru's kitchen as I am trying to reduce dairy in my diet and I absolutely LOVED it. The cake tasted like mithai (Indian sweet) with flavors of coconut, cardamom and rose. The decoration was just so beautiful and we got a beautiful Happy Birthday cake topper to go with it. Highly recommend if you are looking for a vegan cake (great even if you are not :) ) .

We ordered the matcha pistachio cake and it was delicious! Very light and not too sweet so you could actually taste the flavors. The size is perfect for a small group of 8 people. Looks-wise it's pretty, with a good amount of the candied orange and pistachios on the top, and the coconut cream icing was spread in a good size layer (not too thick). The whole process from ordering on Shru's website to talking through email to confirm my place on the calendar to paying and picking up was a breeze and I would definitely keep Shru's Kitchen at top of mind when ordering a cake next time.

I've most recently had the rose milk cake. This cake is so moist and delicious! It tastes like rose but not too sweet or floral. I got this cake to celebrate my oldest daughter getting into her college choice! She loved it! I seriously check every week to see what she's making because I have more flavors I want to try! Oh and it's vegan if that matters for those of you reading.

My new favorite baker in the peninsula! After a year of quarantine birthdays and trying all the gluten free vegan custom cakes in the Bay, we finally found a favorite with the perfect cake! Shruti is absolutely amazing to work with and she's really open to all the crazy requests we have. My family has all these different and contradicting dietary restrictions, allergies and sensitivities, but we were able to get us a perfect cake for our family. There have been bakeries that up charge you for making something vegan and gluten free but don't even know how to make something vegan. Shruti's cakes are simple ingredients that bring out the best in a cake. The first I ordered was Flavors of India, which felt like a trip to the Indian markets with a beautiful marrriage of pistachio, cardamom and rose. So so thankful she was willing to swap out the traditional buttercream to do a custom rose coconut cream for us. This has been the ideal buttercream I've been looking for since going vegan and missing the Whole Foods Berry Chantilly cake. I love the creams made of heavy whipping cream, whipped to a fluff with minimal sugar, but most bakeries use a pasty icing of powdered sugar, which makes it grainier and we usually scoop it off. (Won't mention names but for some custom cakes we literally take the pic and then scoop off the hard caked up icing). But with the rose coconut cream in this cake we were able to enjoy all of that cream, no one wasted a bit of it! Best part is the lovely rose fragrance infused in the cream. This is my absolute favorite! This one completely surpasses my pre-vegan favorite cake (Whole Foods Berry Chantilly) and is the perfect texture and sweetness. I've been so happily sharing this with my family because we now have a solid go-to baker for all of our cakes (but mainly, I now have a go-to for all my vegan dessert cravings in the peninsula!) I can't express how hard it's been to get a good vegan cake...if the cake is good the frosting is too sweet/grainy, if the cream is good the cake is dry. the only ones that come close are raw vegan because the cream is a smooth decadent cashew/macademia and coconut oil. No hate to other vegan spots in the bay, but Shruti's has been the only one that tastes like a real cake and isn't an overcompensation of sugar and fillers. There haven't been many places lately that I could feel comfortable giving my full recommendation for, but if you're looking for a cake for your next gathering (or just to indulge in for yourself), I would fully recommend Shruti for all of the Bay Area cakes. This is a solid solid solid cake option for vegans and non-vegans alike.

I'm amazed at how good this cake tasted. It's flavorful, moist, not too filling with just the right amount of sweetness. I will definitely be ordering again!

Amazing vegan cake! My daughter is allergic to dairy & egg so it was difficult finding a cake that would be delicious and suit her allergies. I ordered the Flavors of India. Shruti was incredibly kind and responsive to all my questions. Since I am breastfeeding, I also have to be dairy free and I wish I found Shru's Kitchen earlier! This is the best vegan cake I've ever had.

I was excited to learn they partner with The Butcher's Son for vegan mozzarella and meats. I've been a big fan of The Butcher's Son food for a while, and I love their mozzarella sticks, even though I usually don't like vegan cheese. I went with a medium 1/2 and 1/2 pizza: Vegan Meatzza and Vegan Buffalo Chicken. I also tried the Vegan Cannoli. The pizza was hot and ready when I arrived, and they sealed it with a 100% vegan sticker, which I thought was a nice touch. I really enjoyed both flavors! It's tough to pick a favorite between the two, but the pepperoni on the meatzza was delicious, and the buffalo and ranch combo on the buffalo chicken was tasty. Surprisingly, my favorite was the cannoli. Even though I usually prefer savory over sweet, the cannoli was amazing. I loved every bite, though I think adding chocolate chips to the filling would have made it even better. Overall, it was a 10 out of 10 experience! I can't wait to try other vegan pizza combos.

The baked Brie was so gooey and paired well with the crackers, garlic, arugula and fig jam on the plate. It's a lot of fun because you get to put all the toppings on your piece of Brie. The short rib was tender and the sauce was rich, but way too bitter to my liking. The wild mushroom pasta was creamy and delicious, but could be enhanced with a bit of acid. The fried chicken was juicy. It was served with 3 cheese macaroni, corn bread and parsley. I didn't know what to do with the parsley. Overall, the meal looked and sounded better than it tasted. It'll be a while until I come back.
