Billy is amazing! He's done my daughter's birthday cakes for the last two years as well as my son's first birthday cake, and all of them turned out absolutely perfect. Not only are his cakes beyond adorable, they also taste incredible (which isn't always the case with custom cakes!). I recently hired him for a corporate event to do a dessert table, and his cupcakes and cookies were a total hit. His chocolate chip cookies are my personal favorite but honestly, every dessert he makes is delicious. We tasted Billy's cake at our friend's daughter's birthday party. It was a really nicely done cake. Beautiful looking as well as tasting. It was a volcano inspired cake, with real lava vapors/fumes coming out of it. So so cool! I have no idea how Billy managed to do it. It was also such a tasty cake, with more of the cake and less of the cream / fondant, just how a perfect cake should be! The cake was also not too sweet, which is so great always! Oh my goodness, I just picked up my first order from Billy Baker, the bacon jalapeño scones. What can I say, other than that these things are sublime! They are soft with a subtle crispiness, the bacon chunks are perfect and lean, the jalapeños give just the right balance. I ordered them mild because I'm not a fan of spicy food and they were just right for me with a buttery overtone. I ate three for breakfast and three more before mid day, then decided I had better ask if I could get another batch to freeze if he had extra. I am addicted. Billy is a seriously talented pastry chef and I feel lucky to have him so close to home, so that I don't have to go into San Francisco (or Paris) to get good pastries. I can't speak for his other creations, because I don't eat sweets so I was really excited to see that he had added a savory option to his offerings. If I need gifts for friends though, I will be looking at his other menu items. If his scones are any indication, I can only imagine how good his other stuff must be.
